Where do I begin... this woman is NOT a natural hair stylist. She literally will burn off and give a natural hair girl heat damage. She's more of a dominican style blow dryer. I asked Sorayah numerous times if what she was doing was proper because it looked like way too much heat. She assured me no it's ok. Fast forward to me washing my hair after her "silk press" and boom. Not a curl in sight in the front of my head. This woman is a complete moron! Then when I confronted her she had the nerve to block me. I seriously plan to go to her salon to tell her about herself. She need to stick her uneducated on natural hair ass, to permed hair because natural ain't it. Naturalista's run very very far away from this salon and don't look back! my Experience at this salon wasn't pleasant at all. My appointment was for 1pm which I was on time. once arrive notice there was only one stylist in which was the owner of the shop have atleast five other ppl ahead of me;didnt get seen till five o clock which was very unprofessional and poor service. Let's not forget the owner had an assistant who only does the bare minimum when it comes to hair(smh). Didnt leave the salon till seven o clock mind you the appointment was for one o clock!!!!! You have a braider who takes 10hrs to braid one part and a weave booth who doesn't know how to install wigs nor weaves properly...NEVER GO TO THIS PLACE!!!! read more

I found sorayah's salon on Instagram and was amazed by how beautiful her haircuts were and wanted to book an appointment so my hair could look similar to what I saw on Instagram. Unfortunately, soraya was booked, so I booked an appointment with one of the hair stylist at her shop named Dinah. Biggest mistake I've made in my life. Dinah arrived an hour late to the appointment. She didn't apologize or anything. She has a very nice personality but that doesn't make up for her horrible service. While doing my hair, she kept stopping to do other clients hair. She didn't take her time to finesse my hair. My hair came out subpar, it looked nothing like the pictures on Instagram, but what made me even more mad was the price that I paid. She charged me 105 for a wash and style for my short hair. I have never Paid 105 ever for a wash and style. And I feel bamboozled. I will never ever step foot in that salon and I'm warning everyone else to stay away. Dinah has some nerve to be overcharging her clients. That's horrible for business. I feel like sorayah should fire her and find someone else. The wash and style was not worth 105. I feel like she will get her karma. I didn't want to argue about the price because I felt that would of been classless. So I paid, but I regret going there. Please stay away from this establishment. It's not worth the price. read more

I recently moved to Brooklyn and I was searching for a new hair stylist. I came across Sorayah after seeing her featured on various Instagram pages. I fell in love with her ability to slay short hair, or so I thought. I have short natural hair, but in the fall I always straighten it. I've never had an issue with this until I visited Sorayah's salon. My experience overall was not good. The lady who washed my hair was very rough. When I showed Sorayah how I wanted my hair she told me I would need a texturizer in order to achieve the looks I wanted. I've had my hair cut low before and it wasn't a problem. I believe Sorayah is good at slaying relaxed hair, but when it comes to straightening short natural hair I definitely wouldn't recommend. My "cut" looked more like a trim. Sorayah is very nice, but I won't be going back. read more

Love love love. Sorayah gives her genuine feedback on what's best for your hair. I wanted to get my relaxed hair healthy and after her consultation I was advised to go natural. Sorayah cut my hair into a bob which I was initially nervous about because I'm so use to putting it in a ponytail, but I left there feeling great. 3 months later my hair has grown and is much healthier. I will be back and I 100% recommend her. I left her feeling like I left a friend. read more

Sorayah is a nice woman. I appreciate her for taking me as a walk-in for a color correction. I completely understand she didn't have to do that, which is why I was prepared to tip her 25%. That is until I saw my hair. I do not recommend Black women get their hair done at Sorayah's unless you want a Dominican blowout or have a certain texture of hair. I left completely unsatisfied after being there from 11:30AM - 6:30 PM. It was so bad I walked out with a scarf on my head in tears. I have now showed the color of my hair to two stylists who immediately asked, "Why didn't she match your roots with the rest of your hair? That would've been easy to do." Not only is the color something I can't even name, which I'm being very blasé about because I just wanted my hair to not be blue anymore, the style has me looking like someone's grandma. I showed her a picture of what I wanted twice. Never did she say my hair was "too long" for that style until I spoke up and said I didn't like my hair. "Your hair is too long for that style. And it was all poofy." Yes, because natural Black hair is "poofy." I'm terribly disappointed because of the amount of money I spent, the time and her unwillingness to even try to fix it. Again, I think Sorayah is a nice person, but my hair is horrendous. People work way too hard for their money to be thrown down the drain like this. I'm going out of town for a special event and now have to figure out what to do w/my hair. I wish they'd be honest about the quality of services they can provide. It's a Dominican shop good for blowouts - not cut and color. And I wish she could've offered to fix my hair to at least something I can walk in public with. read more

I have a head of fine but thick kinky Black people hair. I usually wear my hair in two strand twist but occasionally I want it straightened or blow dryed and layer cut. I've been to Sorayah's about three times in the past 2 years when I need a tight layered cut and decide to get my hair pressed/straightened. I had little wait time partially b/c I walkin on weekday mornings. I appreciate that the shampoo girl is AMAZING and my hair AND scalp always feel clean. The result: my hair is bone straight but not heat damaged or greasy. I can't speak to any other services but if you want your hair straightened or cut AND healthy this place is a good choice. The staff is really sweet and friendly and the prices are reasonable. read more

Dinah is a great stylist and knows how to handle my natural hair. I'm usually in and out within 2-3 hours which isn't too bad and my hair always comes out amazing. The shop is very clean and has a relaxed vibe. Not as expensive as other "natural hair salons". read more

So, I went to Sorayah's Salon for the first time to get a virgin relaxer, cut, color and style and I am beyond pleased. My appointment was at 3:15. I was in the salon for no more than 2 minutes, before I was seated and attended to. The assistants, one responsible for applying the relaxer and another responsible for washing and coloring, were super pleasant and attentive! Then, Ms. Sorayah laid those gifted hands on my crown and went to work. I was nervous to have my hair done, since I was natural for 8 years and am very particular about my cuts. But my fears were put to ease! My hair is silky and my cut was excellently executed, because I can manipulate it into several different styles. I also need to comment on the ambiance/energy of the salon...so calm, so sisterhood like, so zenned...just a dope spot. I have found my new stylist and I am happy with the entire service! read more
