sparta location- I came in to get blonde highlights I discussed in detail with my stylist that I wanted bright bold blonde highlights that were very noticeable. She fully agreed. when she put my toner on she then went outside for a smoke break, which was marijuana and not cigarettes. She left my toner on for too long and I was now a full brunette. she told me it looked great and I would get used to it. I was not happy so I came back the following morning to have my hair re-bleached. while waiting for the salon to open, I watched her again smoked marijuana before starting her shift. my hair lightened slightly, but still nowhere near what I wanted. I was left with hair that was brittle and broken from being bleached twice in less than 24 hours and was out $300. I'm not sure if the owners know that their employees are doing drugs while their clients are sitting in the chair. read more

this review is for the Sparta location I'm disappointed I have to write this review. Last Friday I had to cancel my appointment with Erica. I cancelled at the last minute, my son went home sick with a stomach bug. I was not surprised to see the next day they had charged my card $300. I understand the fee. However, I was told when I called and cancelled I could use that credit to reschedule. The next week I called to book an appointment after my kids were done being sick. I tried making an appointment for Saturday. The receptionist told me she would have to call me back to confirm. I received no call back. I called again later during the day, and again could not confirm an appointment. She told me Erica was with a customer and they would let me know. I again never heard back. I called the next morning and was told that they would not be honoring booking an appointment with me . How is this okay? I have read several accounts of customers cancelling last minute due to emergencies, and in those reviews the money has been honored and put towards a service. How is it that we don't treat customers fair and equal across the board? I haven't ever really had to write a bad review or go to a manager before, I'm a normal person, a full time working mom with two little kids, I just don't understand how is this okay? read more

I've visited two locations and wanted to share my experience. At the Newton location, the stylist who worked on my hair was kind and professional; however, some surrounding staff behavior was uncomfortable. One staff member was openly making fun of other clients, which was noticeable and created an awkward atmosphere. It was clear this also caused discomfort for the stylist working with me. I later tried the Sparta location and had a different experience. The stylist was quite rough while brushing my hair after coloring, which was uncomfortable. Additionally, the pricing felt high given that services were billed by the hour. While I appreciate attention to detail, the extended time spent did not feel proportionate to the service provided, especially compared to other salons I've visited outside of Sussex county. read more

From the phone call to make my appointment to the owner taking me on a tour of the medi spa, this was by far the best experience! Let me first say, it was in their new Sparta location. I had trouble with the app so when I called to make my appointment, the girl was super helpful, very nice, and professional. I only booked a haircut, and Kristy was my stylist. She rocked my hair cut! I love it! Then she showed me the new Sparta space including the men's barber shop. It was gorgeous and even has a whiskey bar! Once I paid and was ready to leave, the owner took me over for a tour of the medi spa. Listen, I was treated so well here you would have thought I was someone who just had a day of services there. This review is in reference to the Sparta location to which I have been going for years now and while I have been very happy with the stylists, particularly Christopher and Isabel, I am so frustrated and disappointed with the management. 10 days ago I had to cancel my appointment on the same day because of food poisoning, and though I had never canceled before, the receptionist said they would have to charge my card $150 as per their policy. As a regular client, I asked if I could please speak to a manager or the owner about that and the receptionist kept stating the policy and almost seemed frightened to relay the message, which I insisted that she do . Finally, she said she would, and I have not heard back. That was 10 days ago and to add insult to injury, I kept receiving automated messages, thanking me for my visit. I left messages, emailed and replied to the texts, requesting the courtesy of a call about the policy, and after 10 days no one has responded. I think it's outrageous that they can't bother to give me the courtesy of a response, but no hesitation to charge me $150 without blinking an eye. Never going back! read more

I just visited the Sparta location for the first time today at noon. . Super clean and Laurel was lovely. I had a dip manicure and pedicure and she did a great job! My only complaint which is why 4 out of 5 - the front desk wasn't all too friendly when checking out. This younger brunette rang me up and she barely said two words to me. I asked if I can leave tip on the card and she said "No, we don't do that". Ok, no problem. So I went to go leave money Laurel and couldn't find her. There was another girl in the back that said you are supposed to leave tip in an envelope at the front desk. The brunette at the desk could have explained to me the tipping process as I was a new client. I left the tip and gave it to her and didn't say a word. Nothing - have a great day would have been nice. Very rude. Service was great but your front desk needs some manners. read more

Just moved to the area from Manhattan. Visited the Newton location for hair services twice to give them a real chance. Everyone is nice. Service is just OKAY. Definitely not a Manhattan salon to be charging the high prices. They say.. because it's a "high end" salon. But being extremely expensive for this little town, doesn't make a salon "high end. I've been going to Nicole for almost 2 years now for my hair. This is the longest that I've ever gone to the same hair dresser consistently and it's because she does a fantastic job!! We always have great conversation when I come in and the staff is super friendly. Charming place in a Victorian on a side street with lots of leopard inside (I LOVE leopard!). Large selection of products including candles. I've had several facials w/Maria over the past 2 years & she does a fantastic job, is friendly but not overly talkative during the facial & is knowledgeable of the products which for the facials are Aveda. I love coming here to relax & they have specials/promotions going on often- check out their website. Nail area could use better ventilation as all I could smell was acrylic - who does acrylic anymore? Gel is in! Pretty ambience, lots of leopard. Friendly front desk. Had a prenatal massage done here that was lovely by Debbie. I also had a haircut done here for the first time. I have long straight hair that can't be any easier to cut. I asked for a couple long layers and a trim. Layers seemed choppy and cut so short that it doesn't stay up in pony tail. I came to this salon for a senior prom to get my hair and makeup done on Friday June 9th. I usually get my hair cut regularly by Kaitlin (highly recommend her), so I decided I might as well get my makeup done as well. Unfortunately, getting my makeup done here was an AWFUL idea. I showed a specific picture to the makeup artist as an example of what I wanted, and it was no where near what I was looking for. Not only that, but the makeup was very unprofessional and sloppy. She barely applied any eyeshadow or foundation and my eyeliner wings were messy and uneven. It looked truly awful. Next, I got my hair done by Kaitlin which was wonderful and exactly what I wanted. I told the ladies that I did not like how my makeup looked at all but it should have been obvious. I was getting told that there was nothing they could do about it since they already "used the products on me". When I told them I was just going to take it off and do it myself when I got home, the only thing they claimed they could do is have that the same lady re-do my makeup. This doesn't make any sense because if she did an awful job the first time, what makes anyone think she'll do great the second time? Plus I had no time for that as, like I said, I was going to prom and if I still didn't like the makeup, I'd have to go home and re-do it myself anyway with even less time. I was forced to pay full price for barely any makeup on my face, INCLUDING an automatic tip for the lady who did my makeup unprofessionally. Not to mention she used HAIRSPRAY on my face as "makeup setting spray", which made me feel gross, sticky, and stiff. I ended up taking it all off right when I got home and did it myself, which came out 100% better than what I had just paid for. We also called and spoke to the manager Kelly and was told we'd receive a call back from herself or the owner within 10 minutes, but we still have not heard back from them, FOUR days later. I do NOT recommend getting your makeup done here by Maria. Not sure I even recommend this salon at all anymore in general since they allowed me to leave there visibly upset and did not even attempt to contact us again after we reached out to them. This is my first review of a pedicure experience but my experience makes this necessary. Had an appointment for their Traditional Pedicure and I was very disappointed. I have gotten peds at salons across the country and and I feel qualified to say that I have received twice as much service for half the price of Panache. The price of the pedicure is no issue with me as long as I get what I am paying for and this was the case at this salon. No real massage especially anything near reflexology on the feet and no massage at all on the lower legs. Staff SEEMED VERY uncomfortable at my presence . Not sure if it was because of me being a male or African American or both. It was without a doubt the most uncomfortable environment I've experienced at a salon. One great part of my visit was the chair itself. It was hands down the best massage chair I've ever sat in. Not enough although for me to make a return visit. read more

I was simply going to say there are no words but yet there are many. I had a massage at Salon Di Panache. The massage was average and is not the reason for my low rating. She did her best and was kind and attentive. Having worked in the spa industry for a decade, I'm a bit fussy and have high expectations. I assume that the salon part of this business is very different from the spa side of the business. The massage room was set up as if it were a random idea to have massages at the spa. It was noisy despite the wave machine and music. The intake form was copied so many times it was difficult to read and not really relevant - as if no one really took the time to explore the importance of it. My booking was made by someone who, when I changed my appointment date, didn't remove my original appointment (all in all not that big of a deal). I was greeted with mild interest upon arrival and departure. I left feeling annoyed and frustrated and felt overcharged for the upgrade I had made to a 90 minute massage. I'm sure there is more, but this seems to be plenty. read more

I went yesterday for a short and sweet manicure and grace pedicure as advertised on their website. I'm on vacation from CA and needed nails done to attend a wedding. I have visited this salon years ago for facial this was first visit for nails. The woman who did my nails was Gigi. I would agree the manicure was short but definitely not sweet. I had 3 very visible cuticles hanging off 3 fingers and noticed once I was at drying station. Another manicurist came by Lena and was nice enough to fix after Gigi claimed she tried to get them off and that she couldnt bc it was short and sweet and she would cut me? We all looked confused at each other. Also no hand massage. It's the first time I've ever had a manicure and not had a massage. Unacceptable. I get regular manicures/pedicures $25 that far surpass this experience. Pedicure alone at my regular salon is 1hr at least. Now on to the pedicure. My toe nails look hacked she cut the corners of nails on big toes and they are all uneven and all toe nails were cut too short. Callous treatment was also supposed to be done and she literally worked on calluses on both feel for 10sec. with a small wand looking tool. She didnt put any callous lotion that I saw that helps remove calluses either. Anytime I've even had a pedicure this part alone takes at least 10 min to smooth bottoms of feet. Again no leg massage. She put some lotion on legs and rubbed my feet for maybe 2sec. I couldn't believe it. I swear I got the short and non sweet pedicure as well and not grace pedicure. Nail polish looked horrible, polish left on skin and my feet are still rough. I think my 12yr niece could have done a better job. So much for my toddler free trip to the "spa" and not being able to relax. I complained to Kelly at register and she attempted to discount and apologize but I still paid too much after further observations of my nails after I left. I may be returning today to have this redone as I am very unhappy. I can't believe the low quality service I received at a spa that advertises themselves on higher quality and charges the prices they do. I will be happy to return to my regular manicurist. read more

I had my hair cut by Nicole, she did such a fantastic job, it brought me to tears! I had heard wonderful things about this salon and was so glad I finally went, it was worth it. The pricing is very fair, ranging from moderate to more expensive. It is inside an old Victorian style home, and it has a sassy yet decadent decor. Perfect setting to pamper yourself. Upon entering I was offered a beverage and Nicole hung up my coat. The staff is very warm, friendly and professional. there groupon is false advertising. they say you can get a cut and color for $39.00. when you pay for the voucher you get a coupon for a cut and conditioning treatment. when you arrive at the salon, they want you to pay extra for the coloring. you notify the salon and they tell you that i have to contract groupon and nothing gets done! very disappointed! read more

I received the special "GK" treatment which was supposed to help my fine, curly/wavy hair not frizz. The first week was great. Then by the 3rd week, it was TOTALLY gone. I spent $350 + a $70 tip AND bought the special shampoo & conditioner. I waited the required 48 hours to shampoo. I had had keratin in the past, and this was supposed to be "so much better." The owner, Patti, had me come back so they could put a conditioner on my head. I felt like my problem was solved and gave another stylist a huge tip since the conditioning treatment was free ($50 regular price). Again, a few days later, it is all gone. Basically, they are not doing the Brazilian blowout/keratin treatments b/c of the fumes & the salon is not ventilated properly. I learned all this info. from a new stylist at another salon who wears a mask,and had me wear a mask. Plus the salon needs high ceiling and a door open. This new stylist explained what I needed and the different types of hair. I wanted at least part of my $ back from Salon DiPanache but was told by the owner's daughter that they need to hear a complaint in about 1 week. For a treatment that was to last 4-5 months and was $350???? They were NOT interested in helping me. I was told I could have the treatment at "a discount" next time. If you want to spend $350 + tip every two weeks, then this is the place for you. DON'T go here to do any kind of relaxing treatment. It is a total waste of $. Plus the owner & her daughter are VERY AGGRESSIVE in the way that they treat you. I NEVER complain even if I am not happy with a haircut/color, but this was beyond poor treatment for such an expensive process. read more

after arriving 20 minutes early for an appointment, the front desk realized 25 minutes later nobody checked me in. my spa appointment then was running late. the appointment itself began contentiously which was a complete blindside because it was body work. i thought things would level out during the appointment. it did not. afterwards in tears i spoke with Kelly at the front desk. she tried to contact someone in authority who could not make themselves available. i had scheduled 2 appointments in advance and told her i would not be keeping the second one. She said they would figure out some way to work this out and that someone would call me. Nobody ever called. I got my hair cut here, and though the staff when I first walked in was nice and pleasant, I was really disappointed with the cut and the service. I got my hair cut and conditioned with the groupon offer and asked specifically for someone who could work with my curly hair. I told her the length I wanted it cut and explained that this is the was the length I wanted it curly so she should cut it a bit longer for when it bounces. She cut it way too short! Even though it looks fine straight, I almost never straighten my hair because I love my natural curls. Now I have to damage my hair on a daily basis for it to be presentable in public. I was dissatisfied and I called to complain and 2 people called me back saying that the owner would call me and she never has! Yesterday, I got a phone call from someone who wanted to see how my appointment went and when I explained for now a third time why I was upset, I was once again told that the owner will get back to me.
