sparta location- I came in to get blonde highlights I…read morediscussed in detail with my stylist that I wanted bright bold blonde highlights that were very noticeable. She fully agreed. when she put my toner on she then went outside for a smoke break, which was marijuana and not cigarettes. She left my toner on for too long and I was now a full brunette. she told me it looked great and I would get used to it. I was not happy so I came back the following morning to have my hair re-bleached. while waiting for the salon to open, I watched her again smoked marijuana before starting her shift. my hair lightened slightly, but still nowhere near what I wanted. I was left with hair that was brittle and broken from being bleached twice in less than 24 hours and was out $300. I'm not sure if the owners know that their employees are doing drugs while their clients are sitting in the chair.

I've visited two locations and wanted to share my experience. At the Newton location, the stylist…read morewho worked on my hair was kind and professional; however, some surrounding staff behavior was uncomfortable. One staff member was openly making fun of other clients, which was noticeable and created an awkward atmosphere. It was clear this also caused discomfort for the stylist working with me. I later tried the Sparta location and had a different experience. The stylist was quite rough while brushing my hair after coloring, which was uncomfortable. Additionally, the pricing felt high given that services were billed by the hour. While I appreciate attention to detail, the extended time spent did not feel proportionate to the service provided, especially compared to other salons I've visited outside of Sussex county.

I should of listened to my gut when I saw Jessica put bleach on my already lightened ends. I also should of told her not to put it on my scalp too. She told me that my hair could withstand it, and its strong..... I had also told Jessica about prior hair history from damage, thinking that I could trust the process. When I saw it in the mirror, my heart dropped. It was definitely way darker in the back...and the front is destroyed. I didn't realize the severity of it until I got home and saw how it dried naturally, and I shouldn't of paid how much I did. Jessica told me I could come back on Monday.. When i got there Monday, the owner insisted that I needed to make an appointment, and that Jessica had other clients. I wanted to talk to the owner about the damage, but I knew in my gut I wouldn't of been heard. I just got up and walked out. Its going to take a long time to come back from this and my hair sheds a ton every time I wash.. just really bummed this happened and I've spent a lot of money on products to fix the bond damage. My hair is now on a healing journey. Lesson learned, ask questions, triple check and get to know who is doing your hair. I'm not saying she is a bad stylist, but if you feel something is off, say it.

It often feels like many of the stylists are either inexperienced or barely out of school. When I tried a short haircut, the stylist left my hair at uneven, awkward lengths and I didn't even realize that until I got home. On another visit, a different stylist was so rough while washing and cutting my hair that it was actually painful. Between the poor technique and the high prices, I wouldn't recommend this place.

The consultation consisted of her telling me to change my shampoo and buy a salon grade shampoo. Also to change my styling product. I got more of a lecture than a consultation. I brought a photo of a previous haircut that I liked very much. The haircut I received wasn't close. After a partial blowout the stylist started to "adjust" the length and layers. After going from bad to worse, we called it quits. To be fair, I think it's hard to get the perfect cut the first time out. I thanked the stylist for her efforts. My biggest disappointment, however, was in the attitude of the salon. I reached the owner by phone they next day and she couldn't have cared less about my subpar experience. I suggest you skip Hair Glow and look for a salon that cares about the customer.
