The staff were friendly, though the overall environment wasn't especially impressive. That said, I really enjoyed my massage. I even fell asleep a couple of times, which almost never happens for me in unfamiliar places. Most importantly, I left feeling much better. I do think I'll come back again, and if you're in the neighborhood, it's definitely worth giving this place a try.

This is not the case a anymore. Waxing wasn't very popular and it ended up cost her more money than it was worth. Mary may not be the owner anymore, she might still work with new owner from time to time. I look forwards to getting a massage from her as well. The pressure was good, that I might have fallen asleep. However, there was a light tap on the door before April's sister Wontu showed up. Won't enteted the room and the two hands massage became a four hands massage instead. April and Wontu did not preform an synchronize massage working from my neck down. Instead, April continued working on my back, lower back and top of my gluteus maximus. Wontu started working on my feet and slowly worked her way up to my gluteus maximus. The pressure was just right from both ladies. It has been a while since I had four hands massage, but the offer was there, and I took it. Not bad for my first time here and it's double the flavor and double the fun... a reffence to an old commercial if you know what I am talking about. Wontu's massage continued up my legs as April finished with my arms. The leg stretches and the arm stretches were most enjoyable, seeing as my body was twisted in different directions with decent pressure and force. Having two women working on my gluteus maximus and thighs is..., was one of the most enjoyable experiences I have had. Having my gluteus maximus massaged, stretch and squeeze like Play-Doh at the same time for each cheek is a rare experience. I will have to do it again. The team of Wontu and April then switched positions and massage continued. The witched between soft touch to medium massage made the massage different and enjoyable. The touch was a good touch. My Erectile Dysfunction would have prevented me for doing anything even if it were a bad touch. Yeah, it sucks, but life goes on. I am digressing here... I would like to say both April and Wontu used the minimum amount of oil to get the job done. If you wish to have more oil on you, simple speak up and let them know. If you do Four Hands Massage, each lady equals 30 minutes each. I decided I would do 90 minutes for Four Hands Massage, but it eventually turned into 2 hours. April ended up doing the last 30 minutes by herself. Wontu talked me into adding 30 minutes more. All of this happen, but not before turn over with the cloth still covering me. I choose to keep the oil that was used on my skin because it wasn't a lot. I also don't tend to use hot towels if they aren't inside the massage room already. I go with paper towels in the room. It keeps the massage therapist in the room and I do not experience possible moldy smelling wash cloths. It all works out. Once on my back, Wontu started massaging my neck and shoulders while April massaged my feet. The relaxation could have put me to sleep, yet again, but I have discovered something when you do fall asleep during massage. You miss all the heavenly glory of the massage. I feel like I cheated myself out of experiencing the massage even though it feels great. So I did not fall asleep during the great massage. April continued working my legs to inner thighs as the pressure got stronger to accommodate for the larger muscles. Wontu worked on my chest and stomach with just the right amount of pressure. To much pressure and you might end up needing to use the bathroom in a serious way, or end up soiling yourself on the massage table. Luckily, I have not experienced the soiling myself on a massage table...., but I am digressing yet again. Wontu and April switched positions yet again. The massage continued until it's climactic conclusion. The four hands massage had me wanting more, but alas, I just couldn't do that. Wontu and April's Four Hands Massage is one you will want to try out at least once. If you do want to experience this massage, you are better off calling and setting up this kind of appointment instead of a walkin like I did. I have been to this establishment one other time after this experience and both April and Wontu did a one hour session with me. I can write an account on this experience if you would like. As of now, 5 Stars for this outstanding experience.

She had to adjust her dress 8 times from when I started paying attention to this. The massage started out decent enough with the pressure points through the towel, but I had a feeling it wouldn't last. Well Golly Wally I was right. The massage went from firm to soft strokes. Yes, there is different strokes for different folks, but come on,... going over the same spot with no real knowledge of the human body...this is sad. Nevertheless, I wanted to see what Lisa could do, so I stayed quiet and let her do her thing. Lisa didn't over use the oil she had. The glutes massage was better than expected, but there was no real pressure until I asked. The towel covering me was removed not long after she started on my lower back. I am not shy about my body, but there are many who might not be comfortable about that. I don't picture other women going to this massage place, but I am willing to buy a Steeler shirt if I am wrong on this. I would have to see an actual review and photo of the woman on Yelp. Not a picture of something else but her in general. This isn't going to happen so I don't have to worry about this. Well since the Cincinnati Bengals lost this Sunday, the previous bet is now voided. I am digressing...let's move on. Back on track. Legs massage wasn't much of anything, but was relaxing when she did massage them.. The feet were skipped entirely. I was asked to turn over and I did. Lisa main goal now was to get her money for a tip. This is why I deliberately kept my eyes closed. More could have happened, but it's not what I wanted. I did not go the Full Monty, but others have and will. "For this I am sure." The best part of the masssge was the shoulders massage. This is when the press was turn on and Lisa knew what she was doing. I was offered a hot towels, but if Lisa had to leave the room in order to get a towel, i just prefer to have paper hand towels rubbed on me to get the extra oil off me. In this case, 96 percent of the body cream had absorbed into my skin. I have had bad experiences with the hot towel smelling bad and then the scent is left on one's skin. After The Massage: After the massage I used the bathroom and it looked good. However, I did see a tooth brush on the sink. This leads me to believe the ladies live here. I now think about the hours the business is open. I don't like where my mind is going. I truly hope I am wrong. I don't know if body scrub is done here and at this point don't care. Lisa was pleasant and out going. Thank you for the massage Lisa. I am not sure I will be back again. Well that is about all I have to say for now....oh, one more thing.

Jessica remind me of someone body that I used to know. I even thought she was someone else, but was later informed she is not the same Jessica I was thinking of. Still, Jessica look very close to the woman in the red dress featured in the picture I took with the new prices for massage. Today, I was shown into the Autumn Room and it looked nice. It is very spacious with two massage chair/couches. In the center is the massage table. The Massage table wasn't heated from what I saw. It is also Summer time and the heat wasn't needed for the massage table if there is one. I noticed the large window is heavily layered to keep out the sunlight. The Massage: Covering the body is not necessarily a requirement, but can be done if you are not comfortable with being exposed...so to speak. Jessica asked me what kind of pressure I wanted and I went with medium pressure. Lotion, oil or neither are your choices. I went with the oil, but I think next time I will go without oil and lotion. Ashiatsu (backpack massage) is an option, but Jessica didn't incorporate this option into my massage. Jessica used her forearms for my back , glutes, but I preferred her hands to Jessica's forearms. Jessica massaged my legs and feet. Jessica continued her massage checking to see if I wanted her to pressure to be harder or softer. I am glad to say Jessica wasn't interrupted with phone calls or someone else ringing the doorbell. There is also no time clock is in the room, but there is a clock in the room. Check your time before the massage starts. Hot towels supplied inside a heat box were applied to my body to remove the excess oil on by body. Flipping over onto my back Jessica again asked if I wanted oil, lotion or nothing. I went with oil and Jessica began her work. The stomach massage and chest massage were great. Yet, the foot massage nearly put me to sleep. The soft massage is another trick that can put someone to sleep. It did not happen with me, because I wanted to be awake for the massage. Not fall asleep through it. Jessica did the hot towel thing again before ending the massage. Upon standing up, I felt some pain in my back. Jessica was able to massage my back again and removed the tight muscles in my lower back. I truly appreciate this Jessica. I will definitely return here for another session. I found it humorous an ironic that we were both wearing red and black outfits on this particular day. What are the odds of this happening?

If you are anywhere in the VA or DC area you MUST go to Salon Daniel in McLean and see DARRELL THOMPSON!!!! He's absolutely amazing!! A true Salon Artist!! I moved out here from Los Angeles nearly a year and a half ago and he's been working on my hair ever since. I had celeb hairstylists working on my hair in LA and wanted to find a quality stylist here. I was tired of my CA blond short hair. Darrell has worked his magic on my hair and now it's healthy and long again! He knows and understands all hair types, cuts, styles, and coloring. I am Caucasian and with a lot of dark ash blond hair naturally that has a lot of wave to it. I have seen his work first hand on various clients of various ethnicities so I can tell you personally no matter your hair type Darrell will make you gorgeous and leaving you wanting to come back to see him again!! I've also gone to Darrell several times for up-dos for special galas and events in DC. I wish I could post pics of what he did on here. Some of them are his Facebook page. He gave me a classic pin up look and gorgeous waves. I have never had so many people compliment me on my hair until Darrell did it. I love his work so much I now bring my daughter in to get cuts from him and she's 4! Her first salon haircut was done by Darrell and he's so good with her. She now looks forward to going with me for our Mommy/Daughter salon days to see him. Pricing is very reasonable and the time you spend with him you feel leaving like you've made a new best friend. He's always very creative and you will NEVER leave his chair disappointed, I promise that after nearly two years with him. Also the staff at Salon Daniel is exceptional as well. I have had my hair done by Simon Bechara many times now and can say with absolute confidence that he is one of the best out there. His personality is a big one, he loves to laugh and have fun and makes you feel as if you've known each other for years. That makes the experience itself enjoyable, but that doesn't even go into the actual hairstyle. You don't even need to bring Simon a picture or a reference, you can just tell him "Do your thing!" and you'll walk out feeling like a supermodel! He is fast, efficient, and amazing at what he does! I would recomment him to anyone, whether they're just getting a cut, getting colored, getting a treatment, or an updo for an event. I read below a review about a girl getting a Brazilian Keratin treatment from Simon that supposedly dried out her hair?!? A review is only reliable as the person writing it. It sounds to me that Simon told her what she could do to fix any possible issues she may have been having (who knows what the girl did to her hair between Simon touching it and then) and she wasn't even willing to do that. Noone is going to pressure you to buy product, they're going to show you what products you can buy that will make your hair better than the products you're currently using, and you can opt to purchase and use them or not. Reading the other review by Danielle S., the fact that she said "They offered me a beverage, I think, I can't remember." and "They gave me a robe to wear, I think, I can't remember." how reliable do you really think the rest of her common sense and memory is? Again, just my opinion. If the rest of the stylists at Salon Daniel are anywhere CLOSE to Simon (I haven't personally had the chance to work with any of them) then I can say with absolute confidence that you will be pleased with your results as well as the experience you had during your time at the salon! :) read more

I have never been 'faithful' to a stylist beyond a year, but I've been devoted to Samira for more than 6 years. This is for one reason: Samira rocks! For one, while she came to the salon with her own obvious and solid talents, she was polished by one of the DC area's best: owner Daniel. Daniel has built a DC institution - celebrating 20 years- comprised of comfortable surroundings, a pleasant ambience and a team who comes off as decent and morally good, vs. latenight partiers holding it together on the job. Back to Samira: with the wisdom of a jovial sage, she sheds her common sense insights with care and energy while - simultaneously - delivering deft maneuvers to style your head into the best you with hair possible. When I go to her, I generally tell her to do whatever she wants with my color and cut, with only a hint of preference. My philosophy is that you can get the best out of a true pro and artist when you empower them to bring what is beautiful. Her talent with hair styling supercedes all else, and as someone with a particularly critical eye, I require this in a professional. Her hair styling talent is the reason I continur to come back. Simply put, woman leave Samira more beautiful! Also, I don't know what it is, and this is an odd analogy, but you could be sitting on a park bench in Cuba with a 70-year-old man, shooting the breeze, receiving chunks of golden wisdom while still keeping things light, and if that weathered little old man turned - magically - into Samira, you would realize ... it would not be in soul. read more

My 1st visit to Salon Daniel was April 4, 2019 and it was a wonderful experience! Very classy, friendly and professional atmosphere. It was extremely clean with tasteful decor. I followed my long time friend and hair stylist Sureyya here from another location. She gave me a trim, baby blonde highlights and soft beach waves with the flat iron. I sit in the chair and watch my hair magically transform in the mirror. I have fine hair thats very difficult to style, but she makes it beautiful! I felt so welcomed here...relaxed, pampered and cared for. I highly recommend Sureyya because she loves styling/coloring hair and has been doing so for over 20 years. Its artistry for her and she works with all kinds of hair and clients--men, women and children. You will appreciate her expertise. She keeps up with all the new trends and techniques, too...if you want something special! Over the years I've had many massages but I can honestly say Daniela gives the best massages EVER. The overall experience is wonderful -- at no time do you feel rushed, Daniela takes her time to get to know you and your needs, makes recommendations for stretches & exercises, and it doesn't hurt that the rest of staff is friendly. The massages are a great combination of therapeutic and relaxing. I have a bunch of arm/neck/back problems and I find the relief the massages provide to last a good amount of time. After my first massage I received a little goodie bag with a coupon for a free conditioning treatment and some samples of hair products -- I thought that was cute. The referral program is pretty nice. If you refer someone, they get 20% off their service and as a "thank you" you get a voucher to get 20% any service you want, regardless of what service your friend got. I have been visiting Salon Daniel for years. I was hesitant to find a new hair stylist, as most women know, this is a big deal! Then I met Simon, and what can I say, I loved him from the moment I met him. He was engaging and listened to what my wishes and what I didn't want. I left that day knowing that a life long friendship had just been created, and I had the best hair artist in all of the DMV! Over the years we have become great friends, and I truly love him like he is part of my family. We share the good and the bad that is going on in our lives, and we always have a great time! Now to talk about the high-lights and style. Every time I leave, I fall in love with my hair all over again. I'm a perfectionist and Rita gives a perfect, flawless manicure which lasts forever. She has performed miracles with my very damaged nails. They look amazing! What makes Rita stand out from all the other manicurists I've gone to is that she TRULY cares about her clients. She even tells me when I need to give my nails a "rest" so they get healthy. Who else does that? Add the fact that she's the sweetest and most genuinely nice person you'll ever meet! It's a total treat to have her do my nails. I love this salon !!!! it is a wonderful experience every visit. My head is always happy, and I always feel better when I leave then when I arrived!:) all of there staff is very friendly and professional. Simon is absolutely an amazing stylist. He does an amazing job on my hair every time! My cut and color are perfection . He is by far the best hair stylist I've ever had and a creative genius!!! I had the wonderful pleasure of working with Lilly. I had my had bleached and dyed purple at a different salon and the stylist really didn't do it correctly at all. Lilly knows her stuff! She took one look at the picture I wanted and my hair and knew exactly how to do it correctly! She was so sweet and kind. On time, and transformed my hair into what exactly what I wanted it to be!!!! She even taught me which brush would be the best and helped me pick out a color save shampoo there at the salon which are usually so expensive but they were appropriately priced. I fact after she spent such time fixing my hair I wanted to give her more!!! I recommend this salon 100% and ask for Lilly!!! On a last note every one I spoke to from the receptionists to the ladies who wash hair were so incredibly kind. It's been 24 hours and I've gotten so many compliments. I've been going to Sureyya for more than decade at her previous salon, and when she was afforded this new exciting opportunity at Salon Daniel there was no way that I was going to go to a different stylist. It's definitely a much different experience than previously. They offer drinks and snacks, and you are greeted warmly upon arrival. Salon Daniel is a full-service salon (they offer premium color, hair extensions, nail services among many more things) and for the first time I was able to get some silver iridescent hair tinsel woven into a my hair, and now I'm hooked. Sureyya is an amazing stylist, and I frequently get compliments on my hair color. My hair is a slow grower and she's always very careful not to cut off more than is needed for which I am truly grateful. She truly loves doing her "hair art", and is always excited to learn about new techniques and procedures. read more

Well, after this pandemic, for first time I got to a salon for my hair. I always like to go a salon which has a respectful staff and I finally found it today. Daniel's kindly manner as owner, on top of that made me comfortable and feel welcomed. Mojee, my hair stylist who i know her for 15 Years, I had the best experience with her. As soon as I got to salon she started to work on my hair to highlight. i absolutely love the color of highlight which seems so natural and uniform. I am so happy to say that my hair stylist is one of the experienced master who knows very well type of hair and what color is matched with your hair. she really knows what you want. She knows how to mix those chemicals and put on your hair which after she finished her job, I am sure you will say that, wow , that job ( highlight or hair cut) by Mojee was amazing. read more

I had my wedding updo done by Surreya and it was GORGEOUS! She went above and beyond my expectations- the style held up beautifully all the way into the night (even with a heavy cathedral veil on and with a lot of dancing!) and she was wonderful throughout the entire appointment making sure everything felt comfortable and looked exactly as I wanted as she created it. She also did my Maid of Honor's hair spur of the moment and with very little direction, and created a beautiful soft look that was perfect for what she was looking for. Surreya always makes every appointment experience fun and enjoyable, and the Salon is a great atmosphere. I have been following Darrell Thompson from salon to salon for five years to have my hair extensions done by him. He's currently working out of Salon Daniel, a lovely salon. If you want a cheap looking weave or cheesy looking extensions, go elsewhere. Darrell is a master at his craft which he keeps perfecting. He keeps current with the latest trends in hair weaves and various methods of hair extensions. Notwithstanding, the man rocks at hair color and highlighting, Also, Darrell uses only the highest quality of Remy hair which he custom orders to blend in with my own hair's texture. Darrell's extensions are undectable and no one has ever questioned whether or not my hair is "real,." Truly a one-of-a-kind salon, where everyone there makes you feel like you're part of the family. I have been coming to Salon Daniel, specifically seeing Lily, for the past 12 years and that will never change. Lily has taken incredible care of me and is a master of her craft! I have difficult long/full/frizzy coarse hair, and she treats it with such ease. From Keratin treatments (which are a MUST DO in the Virginia humidity), cuts, color and my most cherished weekly blow outs, I have and will continue doing it all with her. Not only is she great at what she does, she is always so positive and full of life, that it's a treat seeing her and walking out of there revived and energized. I've only been to Salon Daniel for the extraordinary massages by Michele and that is reason enough to go. In the course of 3 to 4 massages she worked out a pain that had been troubling me for nearly a year in my upper back thigh. Michele asked me a number of questions before even starting the massages and was always attune to what I needed and was feeling. I was seriously concerned that I would need a doctor's attention and that the pain would not go away. However, with Michele warm and strong hands and careful attention to me, the pain subsided and is now gone. Michele gave me a number of key tips that made a huge difference in what I needed to feel a 100 percent better. I've seen her since then to work out daily stress and muscle tension and she has been terrific. Do not go elsewhere for a massage. read more

This salon really knows what theyre doing, and I recently learned that theyve been around for 20 years, which isn't shocking because of the quality that they produce. I have had my hair done by Daniel several times over the years, and my wife sees Mer, who does her color and is the only person she lets touch her head. I also heard that this salon offers amazing other services, like massages and facials, though I haven't actually had those performed (neither has my wife). If you want a really good male haircut, definitely recommend Daniel. His attention to detail is flawless, and he's also done several celebrities. I also know he has a product line that is popular with my wife's friends, though I don't have any firsthand experience working with it. Definitely recommend this salon!! read more

With out a doubt the best hair salon in all of Northern Virginia. I have been shopping around to find a new hair stylist because mine recently moved out of the area :( and I was told to try out Salon Daniel and let me tell you I got very lucky (i feel). Booking was a breeze, they answered all of my questions and spent the time talking with me. When I got there was greeted with a smile and a beverage and when I met Daniel was very impressed. Stylish, friendly and listened to EVERYTHING (didn't try to make me feel he knew better) I had to say, gave me suggestions and the turn out was fabulous. I'm surprised by some of the negative comments. I have been going to Daniel and his assistant, Lili at Salon Daniel for about three years now, and though I think the prices are a bit high (and now that I talk with friends I find that I pay about the same as, maybe a little bit more than they do), I refuse to change. I have very difficult thick, curly hair that I color and get keratin treatments on. I have been stopped by strangers on the street complimenting, at times my cut, other times my color. My friends are repeatedly telling me how good it looks. When that happens, you don't make any changes! Everyone there is professional, very attentive. DEFINITELY worth the price. read more

Your hair is part of who you are and trusting someone to cut and color it takes time. I have know Sureya Marks for 15 years now and I love her professionalism and passion for what she does. I had many issues with my dry and difficult hair but Sureya always found a solution. For example, I moved to an area where the water is hard water making my hair 'orange.' Sureya quickly acknowledged that and helped me to find a solution. To know a hairstylist for 15 years and counting means a lot to me. Then, the salon staff is friendly and polished. We looked at pictures and she suggested being more conservative on the cut and then we could adjust and make it shorter at the end if needed. After that everything went downhill. After washing and toning I was brought back the chair. My highlights are very orange and striped. No root smudge was applied which made the highlights look harsh. My stylist then turned me away from the mirror while she rough dried my hair without product then curled my hair all while I was turned away. She then proudly turned me like it was a reveal. I was so shocked I couldn't speak. My color was supposed to be a dimensional blonde but instead was a brassy reddish yellow stripes. The cut was not what we discussed at all. It was longer in the back and shorter in the front. I asked her to straighten my hair so we could discuss the length and shape. At this point her next client came in and was sat in front of her station. I felt like we were now being rushed. She again began to apply heat to my hair with no product and roughly ran the straightener through my hair making my hair look like a broom. She cut more off the back and said I was done. She put some hair product on my hair as I was leaving. I honestly was in such shock I could barely communicate my feelings. I just grabbed my things and left. This is not the place to go if you want a soft dimensional balayage or highlight. I can't believe I paid over $450 and now am frantically looking for someone to fix my hair. I've had two local stylists tell me I need a color correction. My advice is research each stylists Instagram account and choose accordingly.

She reached out to me via DM and offered to help me with my hair-mergency. I previously went to a salon in Falls Church where my hair was cut unevenly(one side longer than the other/thinner than the other), severely thinned out at the bottom and given choppy "layers"(if you could even call them that. Initially I wasn't able to tell walking out of the salon due to the way the stylist had blew out my hair - it was only when I washed it for the first time that I noticed it. I was too embarrassed to even take photos of my hair and tried to hide it the best I could by curling it again for work. Julie did an amazing job saving what she could of my hair. She evened out the bottom as best as it could be (there is still some thinness/patchiness just due to the previous stylist) but I couldn't be more grateful for her time and work. If you're ever in need of a great service, I highly recommend seeing Julie and taking advantage of her 20+ years of knowledge/experience.
