I always book my appointments with her after each session and that works well for me. She is the type of person genuinely cares for her clients. Christine Hill is AMAZING! To be honest, I had no idea where Christine's process was going with my hair, even after we had a lengthy conversation about what I was looking for as a result. I even joked with her, "I'm not going to want to shave my head after this, am I ?". Yes, a joke but not having gone to a professional salon in several years...a joke not a joke? I'm 64 with a lot of grey that in the past, I cut/colored myself... Suffice it say, it was damaged, brassy, and had a hard demarkation from the grow out. I put blind faith in Christine today and once she was through, I almost couldn't believe it. Not only did she listen and pay attention to our initial conversation, it was Obvious that she absolutely knows what she is doing and has been in the industry long enough to show it. Of course suggestions always help because they are masters of the art of hair. I listened to her suggestions but she was totally willing to do it the exact way I wanted too. My hair turned out beautifully and it was something really different from what I had before. I'm glad I listened to her. My hair was too long and damaged and I had been rocking the same blonde highlights for the past several years. Kristin masterfully executed my vision of shoulder length, red hair. Anybody looking for a stylist in Salem should be seeing Alicia! So it has been a year since my last color (mahogany that faded to a copper red) so I had about 6 or so inches of growout that I wanted gone and I wanted to blend natural ashy dark blonde color to the rest of my hair. I sent alicia photos and once at the appointment we spent the first I would say 15 or so minutes really talking about how to achieve it and cost of it. This is what sold me because she explained what I wanted and the photo I showed her would be different things especially in length of appointment and over all cost. She beautifully blended my hair color so the grow out look looks more intentional and even. Spending 4 hours in her chair was a breeze because she is so easy to talk to and funny! This was my first time to this salon, and I found them thanks to Yelp. I had a cut and partial highlight with two colors done by Tae, who did an awesome job. The cost was $90. She's only been with Argent for a few weeks, but I believe she said she's been doing hair for 7 years, so she is experienced. She did a great consult and took my suggestions and turned them into a great look which I am proud to show off. One of the things I really like about Argent is that the line of products they use are all cruelty free, which is important to me. This appointment took twice as long, making have to return that same afternoon for her to finish. I was only getting highlights, no cut, just highlights of blonde. I have long hair and it usually takes 2-3 hours at most, but it took her 5hrs and I ended up with nothing remotely looking like highlights, instead I ended up with brassy brown orange color that is now faded to a poopy yellow. To add to my frustration, it was clear after the first color application and rinse, it was bad and clearly she (Christine) knew it was not good, because she kept going to her closet of mixes and adding things to my hair, then starting the color attempt again and again. This went on for several hours, and in the middle of my appointment, she then left me to go home for a personal service, leaving me with wet hair/weird color for the next 2 hours, then return to finish (taking 2 more hours) very unprofessional . It was a expensive $316 terrible miserable experienc. The stylist told me that if I need to come back for any fixes/touch ups, and then told me my cost. I paid her, and got in my car and cried all the way home. Never again! read more

Last summer I moved to Salem from Seattle and by fall was in desperate need of a haircut. After reading reviews, I selected Salon Argent. I called to make an appointment and the lady told me that since they are all independent stylists I would need to call or text one of them to set up an appointment. That should have been my first warning sign. I have never been told to text someone to schedule a hair cut-very unprofessional. Hire someone to do scheduling for God sake and cover it with the rent of the chair as part of the stylists contracts. I was recommended a stylist and reached out to get an appointment. Only visited her twice. The second time another stylist came in cursing looking for her wallet explaining that she thought her cousin stole it who had been staying with them. I also learned a ton about my stylist and her issues with her ex's new girlfriend. Unprofessional strike 2. I don't mind some gossip and opening up with your clients, but maybe the second time meeting someone is not the best. Also, no excuse to be running around cursing in a salon/your work environment ever let alone with there are clients in the salon-even if they are not your own. Final straw was when I returned to visit family and saw my Seattle stylist. As she began cutting my first layer, she let me know that whoever had last cut my hair cut it lopsided by a good quarter inch. I have straight hair and get layers, pretty basic. Even though this place was cheap (I think I paid $40 including tip) it is not worth the unprofessional behavior or lack of attention to detail. I would rather pay the $70 for a haircut that I know will be done right in a salon that is professional. read more

I started going to this amazing salon back in July, I needed to get my hair fixed because great clips messed my hair up. I walked in one day without an appointment and Colinda Lennox happily agreed to cut my hair while she was waiting for another clients hair to finish setting. I had such a good time, she gave me exactly what I wanted and charged me an exceptional price. I ended up going back a month later to get my hair dyed and Colinda was so flexible with me as I had some last minute errands to get done before my appointment. I continue to go back and see Colinda regularly for hair trims and touch ups and she even styled my hair for my engagement photos. Kristin is amazing! I went in for a major hair cut, a good 10 inches at least. I was nervous because I had never had my hair so short and was literally praying for the best. Right away Kristin welcomed me and made me feel comfortable, offering me something to drink. We chatted a bit about what I was hoping to accomplish with my hair, she offered suggestions while still staying true to what I wanted. David, the guy, did my hair. I showed him a photo of what I wanted. First he bleached my hair, then dyed it. It was still definitely blonde but he kept trying to say it was ginger. He then dyed it a brighter orange color. I ended up just leaving so he wouldn't continue to tack on to the price. I got home with Sally's dye and my roommate dyed it and it looks way better than by this professional. That, and my roommate let me know there were patches of different colors all across the back of my head and my hairline. Very very disappointed. Oh my. Listening is an important skill. Easily the worst haircut of my life. Jaime had forgotten who I was -- and that the hair I came in with after work was heavily flat-ironed with a lot of product. I battled that haircut for 8 months, only now recovering in full. After the cut, local stylists kept telling me to wait, let it grow, the front needs more weight. "No one cuts fine, curly hair like this!" I donned an afro-mullet while waiting it out. She also argued with me on the phone about whether it looked good the next day. Finally, she had double-booked appointments, chatting with her second 6-o-clock while hacking away at my roughly 1.5 years' worth of hair growth at that time. read more

My first mistake was going to someone other than Colinda who was my hair dresser in Central Oregon, thankfully she said she could squeeze me in due to my assumption it would just be a little snips here and there to clean it up... well that wasnt the case, came in and the girls jumped into action. I called ahead to make sure they had some who knew how to cut curly hair. They told me yes over 19 year experience. When I got there my stylist (Jamie) was 15 mintues late however the place was super cute! When it was finally my turn the stylist hurried fast through my wash and got me wet. When it time to cut my hair I told her I wanted layers due my very curly hair. I didn't notice until I got home she gave me one layer, 6 inches from the end of the layer to the end of length of my hair. After the hair cut she blew dried my hair but not with a brush but by combing it with her fingers. Again my hair is curly and frizzy! After she that she curled it, well attempted to. I walked out with my a red hair afro. My hair was so big and not curly or cute. I felt like she rushed. I will never go back and will never recommend this place! read more

This is hard for me to do, I don't usually write reviews... I made an appointment with Jamie (the owner) to add highlights to my hair. I showed her what I wanted, and she told me due to my dark hair (Black) That I would get my desired look right away, which is fine as long as it looked good. She cut my hair, which I did like the outcome of that, but the high lights didn't turn our so good. She didn't leave the dye in for very long at all, and the outcome was the top of my hair was a Carmel color and nothing on the lower. Eveyone there was saying "Oh that looks good" - $220 later I went home and my husband asked me what I did cuz they're wasn't a difference. I decided to try again and made another appointment a few weeks later and was quoted $75. Long story short, same issue, top of my head looks good but not the lower half. I told her when I was there I wasn't happy with the little amount of highlights, she said that it's the lightening and there's lots. The price for that was actually $95 plus tip. Over $300 later I went home and cried. I've NEVER had an issue getting highlights in my hair.. I texted her and told her how upset I was and she said sorry it's your black hair. I asked her to fix it or refund me and she did neither (I'd could pay for her to do it again). I'm not from Salem, I went to her cuz she is local, but now I have to drive 60 miles to portland and pay someone else to do what she should have done. Once again, I have dyed my hair "Darkest Brown" From Sallys multiple times in my life and had absolutely NO issues getting the desired look from another salon in 1 appointment, and it absolutely did not cost be $300. read more

Had a great experience at Salon Argent! David gave me an awesome cut and beautiful balayage highlights. You might not guess it from the outside, but the salon is really cute on the inside - and very clean. David also gave me some good recommendations for shampoos/conditioners to use to maintain my color without making me feel like I had to buy them at the salon. The only reason I'm giving it 4 stars instead of 5 is because the best salon experience I ever had involved an incredible scalp massage which is tough to beat. Drew is awesome! He used to cut my hair in Seattle before he moved to Oregon. I was so sad when I found out I had to find a new stylist. I always left the salon feeling great and refreshed. I also, loved that he always had recommendations when I was unsure of what I wanted and gave great advice on products that were good for my hair type (fine hair). Lastly, the grow out of my hair always looked great. So much so that people actually asked if I had cut it again. Now, that's the sign of an great stylist! He is also super friendly and personable! This was my first time at this salon and was originally supposed to have my service done by Amanda but she had an emergency and handed me over to Colinda. Would not recommend her. I went in for balayage and she used the teasing method which completely ruined my hair and I have had to spend another hundred dollars trying to get it fixed, which I will ultimately have to cut about 8 inches. Her teasing method left me with broken hairs and uneven patches of color. She yanked on my wet tangled hair from the harsh backcombing. When I brought up my concerns she said my hair was already dry. As a professional hair expert, she should not have followed through with the service if she felt it would compromise the integrity of my hair. I also felt very rushed with my service when her next client showed up and was waiting for her to finish styling my hair. I consulted with another salon and she agreed that the broken hairs were a result of the severe backcombing. Would not recommend this salon. read more

I went to this salon for the first time yesterday and received a wonderful cut and style from Colinda. When I relocated to Salem, I had a hard time finding a new salon and stylist. Salon Argent stands out among salons in Salem, and Colinda provides a great cut. Besides having trouble finding a salon I wanted to try, I had also been putting off getting a hair cut for months because I have thin, sparse hair. I felt sorry for any stylist who was going to get stuck with trying to figure out what to do with what feels like about 47 hairs on my head. But my split ends and lack of style were driving me crazy, so I decided to get a cut anyway. I was honestly dreading it and didn't expect much. But Colinda worked some kind of magic! She made it look like I actually have hair! And she only used one product and no back-combing or time-intensive styling technique. I haven't liked my hair in years, but I felt myself tearing up with gratitude for how great Colinda made my hair look! And I could tell that she was honestly happy to see me so happy. If I could give 1 million stars I would! I have spent my entire life getting my hair done by people who constantly mess it up between bad haircuts and bad hair colors I've never had a good hair experience. And then I met Kristin! I met her about eight months ago and I had her cut my hair from really long to below my collarbone. Still pretty long then I came in a month later and I had a cut it even shorter to my shoulders and then I came in a month later and I had added again up to my chin and then I came in a month later and I had her get it as short as it is in the dark-haired photo. That's how good she was. I am someone who is never cut my hair short it's always been down to my waist and because of her I now have supershort hair and I absolutely Love it and I will never have long hair again if I have anything to do with it. Then I recently got brave enough to go blonde from my dark hair and it typically takes 2 to 4 settings and she did it in one. Only did she do it in one but it looks on believable. All the colors are perfection the cut is perfection everything is perfection. Hunt top of her being the most amazing stylus I've ever met she is also one of the nicest people I've ever Met.
