I've been here twice now to see Kee and have had a great experience both times. I wanted a stylist knowledgeable in Asian hair and read these helpful reviews and decided to check it out myself. The first time I just got a haircut, and it was exactly what I was looking for--quick, thorough, and a great cut. My hair was fried and dyed and I needed to get rid of those disaster dead ends. I showed him a couple examples and asked for his professional input based on how I style and my daily routine. I went back to Kee for a partial balayage after we had talked about it real briefly during my first appointment. We had a good consultation beforehand, and he took the time to understand exactly the look I wanted, explain the process, and set realistic expectations. He's friendly, easy to talk to, and knows his craft. I love how the color turned out--natural, blended, and exactly what I had in mind. Definitely recommend Kee. read more

3 experiences at this salon and each experience was different. The first time the stylist ran late so they texted and asked if I wanted Starbucks. Thinking she was going to get it on her way in to make up for being over a half hour late I said yes. That was the wrong choice. The stylist ordered it but asked me to go pick it up across the street. First of all I had never met this woman before in my life. It just felt oddly unprofessional. When she came in she was clearly running late because of a late night and hungover as she discussed her night with her coworkers. It's an open salon, everybody can hear your conversations. The second time, I gave another try because my hair did look good & perhaps it was an off day that first time. This time though, I noticed my hair didn't look as great as the first time and it felt rushed. Tried a new stylist for the third time and she got bleach on the back of my shirt but didn't tell me, found out when I got home. I wish she just mentioned it at least. read more

Chai is amazing with coloring hair!! I have very dark, course & thick Asian hair. I didn't think I'd be able to go so light with one sitting without my hair getting fried! Chai is very knowledgeable with coloring, and was kind enough to squeeze me in for peekaboo highlights after my haircut (which she did amazing with as well). I've been going to this salon for many years, and I'll never stop! I personally love a warm blonde, and my hair always turns out perfect. As someone with very dark black Asian hair, getting blonde in one session is a trek but Yin is amazing at coloring and so talented. My scalp always feels squeaky clean and so soft. The blowout at the end is soooo good. And look at my haircut, I love it! I was also able to purchase a hairspray she recommended, and I've been loving it so far. Best salon! Without a doubt, the highest quality stylists, especially for dark Asian hair looking to be lightened. It takes special care to take natural black to blonde without severe damage, and they know how to do it here! The cuts and styles are also excellent and you will be guaranteed to leave feeling uber glamorous. Where they lose points is their professionalism. 3/3 of my appointments have been rescheduled, each time AFTER I confirm via text or email. This last time, they rescheduled my appointment without even waiting for my confirmation. I didn't even get a notification for confirmation! Just a voice-mail from a number that my network marked as spam. Another time I booked a color and cut. As it was the end of the day, the stylist was understandably tired and hungry. But because of this, he declined to do my cut! This was pretty disappointing. Anyway if you're willing to deal with the scheduling hiccup and get your service done as early as possible to allow for time to get everyone complete, definitely book! read more

This is a review for stylist Heather at the Renton location! I appreciate her SO much for her craft and her kindness. I recently had a highlight and cut service done on May 8th 2025. The results were over the top!! On a subsequent hair cut June 2025 Heather gave me a soothing mini scalp massage with my shampoo service because I think she knew I needed TLC as I was getting over laryngitis. I've been seeing Amy for a couple of years and i can definitely say that she is definitely the best hairstylist/colorist to have worked with my hair. The most patient and kind hearted artist but so hard working, knows what she's doing at all times. My ashy brown balayage comes out amazing each and every time! Amy is great to work with because she takes time to understand what look you are trying to achieve and often times, educate you throughout the process. She taught me helpful tips on how to curl my hair a certain way, product recommendation and how to keep my hair healthy. She's also a boba tea queeeeen! I thought I posted this review a long time ago, but I guess not. I was texting Caroline some pictures of my daughter's hair, and although I did not expect a response back, I was pleasantly surprised. While I was chatting g with her, I had asked about when I should schedule my daughter for another appointment for another foil and cut, before school starts back up. She had her schedule and let me know she was available today, (July 27th, 2024). So we are here now, listening to music, (not annoying teen music, like some of these teen stores that I go to with my daughter, that smells like a customer just broke a couple of cases of cologne bottles on the floor) listening to the laughter of the employees and clients , (and the sound of tin foil being torn), watching Caroline's cute pup, being a "WatchDog", and excited to see how my daughters hair turns out. We're going to get a different cut, one that we have not had before. Will edit and update my Yelp review once I have the final product done. read more

I highly recommend 44th Street Salon for a quality hair cut and color. Staff are always great no matter who you get an appt with, but I've had a couple hair cuts with Jenny who is always wonderful. I had long hair and decided to chop it all off and go with a long bob. I'm very happy with the results! Like always she listens to exactly what I want and works with my natural wavy hair which can be tricky to get right. She always spends the extra time to show me how to style it that is manageable for daily routine with minimal effort. After 30 years of frizzy wavy hair, I finally have a routine down that makes me appreciate and love my natural hair! read more

Since my initial review, I've seen Ken Ly twice!!! Once was right before my wedding in Oct 2021- I wanted to go a deep red so that my hair/skin tone did't appear to light and/or washed out in photos. Ken was able to tone my hair to the most beautiful red, and it lasted wayyyyyy longer than I thought it would. Historically rich colors like red would fade out within a month or so, but whatever magic Ken did -- the color lasted a long time. It went from a beautiful deep red to rose/pink goldish over the course of 6-8 months! Fast forward to Oct 2022, my hair is almost grown out to its virgin black so wanted to add some color to it - we decide to go ashy blonde this time and Ken does it again! He transforms it (including the very ends where the very slight red was from the last visit) all to this superrrr ashy dimensional blonde and I am loving it. On top of his color skills, Ken is super nice and talkative just the right amount, IMO; I'm not SUPER chatty and love to get some downtime to read/text, etc. He's efficient (idk how he got my hair to lift in such a short time?!) and good at what he does. I'm definitely returning in a few months to go red again with Ken!! read more

This is my 4th review and I will never get tired talking & referring people to this salon. I'm not going to lie, I've gone to other hairstylists in different cities, yet I keep coming back to Kathy. That definitely speaks volume. Not only that she is genuine and kind; she is AN AMAZING HAIRSTYLIST. Her energy is just so relaxing & makes you feel at ease. She truly takes her time and educates her clients on how to mantain the health of your hair. I get compliments even after my hair grows out or even if it's not styled. Girls would ask where I go to get my hair done and I always just tell them to look up & reach out Kathy from 44th St Salon or if they can't get in with her, all the stylists there are just as talented & amazing! The esthetic decors & relaxing vibe definitely is a big plus! This place gets pretty busy (which is expected due to all their outstanding work). Super easy access right off the i405 exit. I had given up trying to get my hair as blonde as I desired forever ago. I kept going to salons asking for them to make my balayage as blonde as the example pictures that I brought in and I always ended up with a disappointment and a large bill for something I didn't want. However, my friend recommended 44th Street salon to me and I couldn't believe my eyes. I got exactly what I asked for. My hair has been previously dyed so it was not easy to lighten but my stylist (Ken) worked with me for a really long time, trying to perfect it and get it exactly how I wanted! The stylists here will work with you for hours and hours, so inevitably the price is going to be higher than most places, but you'll get exactly what you ask for. To me that's better than going back to places that are cheaper and not getting the desired blonde look in the end. Ps. I witnessed multiple people with dark (even jet black hair) getting the blonde they asked for at the salon. Experts work here! read more

I'm going to be completely honest, I haven't left a review for this salon because of how many rave reviews they've received but this is something I think about all the time, so here I am. Also, this is going to be a long one, so buckle up. Prior to my haircut at this salon in December, I haven't had my hair cut for about 2 years. Mostly because I've been trying to grow my hair out and I have yet to find a salon I like.. however I came across 44th street salon through IG and after months of following them and seeing how happy their customers were I decided to give them a shot! I booked and appointment online with Ivan and was so excited. Ivan was laid back and sweet! Also extremely helpful, I wanted curtain bangs and long layers but told him I didn't know how to give myself a blow out so he showed me a few blow out techniques and talked about styling tools that would help me achieve that salon look at home! I walked out of the salon feeling confident and loving my new hair! Fast forward to about 2-3 days after my appointment, I wash my hair and straighten it since I didn't have the tools for a blow out quite yet and to my surprise.. my hair was jagged and choppy.. there were strands that were clearly left far too long and uneven, I'm not even quite sure how to explain it but the pictures I'll post along side this review should give you a better idea.. Now me being who I am, I was just going to leave it and get it fixed elsewhere, but the more I looked at it, the more it upset me.. imagine waiting 2+ years and finally getting the courage to book a haircut only for it to turn out terrible.. Initially, I sent Ivan a DM explaining what happened, along with plenty of pictures so he could see my hair, well I waited a few days and no response, so I try to call the salon, a few times actually and no one answers so I resort to email.. I explain how unhappy I am with my haircut and would like a refund AND to have it fixed by a different stylist, I sent about 5 paragraphs and they responded with "can you come in at 5:30 today and Ivan can fix this?" Barely even acknowledging anything I said in the email.. so I respond back with again just wanting a refund, to which they reply with never having had an issue with Ivan before and they don't do refunds. They also suggest I come in to talk to them or schedule another appointment with Ivan so he can fix it. Ultimately, I tell them that although he is one of their top stylists they can't deny that my hair looked terrible.. and that unfortunately I'd hate to have to come in again and put my trust into someone who already had a chance to cut my hair.. that email was sent on 12/22 and I didn't hear back from them, so I sent a follow up email on 12/26 and nothing, obviously this was around Christmas time so I was very lenient considering they were still open and operating at this time.. Anyway, I finally decided to just come in because I was done waiting around for a response. The girl at the front was nice, I told her what was going on and she explained again they don't do refunds, okay fine. Then she has Ivan come and he explains this has never happened before, he's not sure what happened, etc etc, at this point I want my hair fixed and I have no other option but to have Ivan fix it, so he does.. we make sure to straighten it this time after the cut to make sure everything is nice and even, which it is.. After all is said and done, my hair is finally the way it should have been the first time around, and as nice as Ivan was.. I don't think I'll be coming back, which is a bummer since they clearly have such rave reviews Now before anyone thinks this was harsh, I had a terrible haircut.. and the responses I got via email WHEN they were actually responding were less than favorable considering how upset I was Also I searched their entire website and they have nothing that says they done issue refunds, it might be helpful to have that posted somewhere read more

Wendy was amazing in making sure she understood what I wanted with a touch of recommendation. Her attention to details and her taking time and accommodation to what I need was superb! I'm so happy to find this salon! It's a little bit of a drive from where I live but it's so worth it. My appointment was with Kayla and I contacted her directly to get in her on schedule since her book gets filled up quickly. The process was a breeze, she responded to my messages promptly. I got in on her earliest availability which was 1.5 months later. But she's so amazing and talented - truly worth the wait. It's true what they say, she can make your hair goals come true. When I came in, it was already a while since my last balayage so I had already grown out and completely chopped any remaining off, leaving my dark, Asian, virgin hair. I came wanting a smokey, ashy color and she was able to give me what I was looking for with her magic hands just in one session! She worked fast yet paid a lot of attention to details. The result truly exceeded my expectation, I couldn't believe my eyes when I saw it. Plus, she also gave an awesome scalp massage. I got so many compliments, and my sisters said I look like those hair model for balayage inspiration photos on pinterest lol thanks to Kayla!! The salon itself is spacious, clean interior and layout that maximizes the space. Kayla met me at the door and upon entry she let me know where I could wash my hands before heading to her station. Everyone is all friendly and welcoming in this salon. You can tell you are among good friends here and that they treat each other like family. Truly a place that's non-pretentious where you can feel comfortable at. During my 4.5-hour session, I watched how hardworking everyone is, and even put in double effort during this crazy COVID time in sanitizing everything diligently after each client (station, all chairs, hair washing sink, hair brushes, tools, etc), they really take it seriously which put me fully at ease being there. read more

I have been wanting to get my hair done for a VERY long time. I procrastinated because I could not commit to a cut, color, and most importantly, who to go to. When I saw Mai's Instagram page, I instantly fell in love. I messaged her and she responded literally right away. She was informative and patient. She briefly went over expectations, pricing and her availability. I was lucky because I was able to get an appointment with her about 2 weeks later. Mai is so easy-going, fun, and helpful and personable. We spent 7-8 hours together to get to my hair goal. She made sure I was comfortable the entire time including the length of my hair, the color, and the style I wanted. She even took the time to tell me how to take care of my hair and which shampoos to use. I am so obsessed with my new hair. Just yesterday, a stranger approached me and asked who I go to! Mai is a hair magician. OH, on a side note: the salon is so cute, all the stylists look happy working there, customers are laughing, and parking is so convenient. I feel so beautiful every time I see Yin and she is the only stylist I'll ever trust with my hair. I'm extremely low maintenance and hate putting in extra work to look nice, especially my hair. Yin worked with me and took into account my laziness, hair texture and length and cut my hair into long layers. Now I wake up in the morning with beautiful voluminous hair that looks styled without having to pick up a hair brush. Yes... you heard it here first. I DID IT!!! My silver ashy blonde phase did not last long at all. Having blonde/silver hair with my thicc head of Asian hair was the most high maintenance thing I had ever experienced and believe me, I'm usually a pretty high maintenance person so I thought I could handle it. But I was on the search for a new stylist who could bring me darker while maintaining (some) of the progress that I had made after I got tired of all the products I had to use, routines I had to keep up with, etc. TG I found Elise!!! I found 44th street through Instagram (probably from location ads), the salon is pretty close to me location-wise and I LOVED their work on Asian hair. It's so difficult to find a hair stylist who I can trust to get me to the colors I want without it being at an absurd price. Asian hair is so different when it comes to going light and MY HAIR... yikes it's so thick you're standing on your feet for a couple hours as my stylist. I'm so glad Elise took me in as a new client who had previous work done and ever since then, I have been back for toning sessions, balayage and haircuts. Elise is hilarious and very detail oriented. She tries her best to get your hair to where you want it and appreciates 100% of your honesty when it comes to her work.
