Kimmie's salon is a hidden gem in beacon hill. I found her when looking for hair styling online when she first started and was a little nervous she had few reviews, but she was professional with communication so tried it out and LOVE her work. She has a huge array of services and is really talented at coloring hair and attentive to her clients. Her pricing is also very reasonable for the area and she is very honest in recommendations. I have had my hair dyed several times with her and cut as well and have never been disappointed. Of note, her salon can be a bit tricky for parking when busy, but is comfortable and relatively easy to find. Let me just start with the big fact everyone needs to know: Michell has taken over management of the salon. I had scheduled with Kim more than 2 weeks prior to my appointment, confirmed my Tuesday appointment with her on the Thursday of the week before the actual appointment, and showed up to the salon on Tuesday to find out Kim moved away and Michell had taken over. I was hesitant on getting my hair done with Michell because I'm one of those people who extensively research numerous places before picking one for a service, and my requested service was a peekaboo pastel purple from dark Asian hair, which isn't easy. Michell was very honest about the situation (she did not know I had an appointment and was not sure she had the color I wanted on hand) and explained her years of experience as well as her relationship with Kim, and I do not regret giving her the reins! Michell explained her process and reasoning for every step, which I appreciated immensely. She also followed my requests to a T and checked with me on every stage: how I felt about the color she would be using (which was luckily the exact color I wanted), if I was itchy/uncomfortable in any way, how much hair I wanted bleached, how much hair I wanted cut, if I was thirsty, etc. We ended up bleaching twice: my hair texture feels exactly the same prior to the bleach and color, which is AMAZING to me. Her pricing was the same as Kim's, under $300, which included the bleach, color, and cut. Michell also gave me a complimentary collagen treatment, which was very generous of her. As for the salon itself, the place is clean. There's free parking behind and in front of the shop. I would absolutely recommend visiting Styled by Kimmie (but now managed by Michell) to anyone looking to get their hair done. read more

She offered a dry cut or shampoo which I appreciate because I don't love a wash in salons. Michelle is such a professional! I had a partial foil that was much more thorough than what I've gotten at other salons and the blonde color was the best I've had in Seattle. I appreciate that Michelle explains her process and does not take shortcuts, the result is really high quality. This does mean it takes a little extra time so make sure you confirm the length of service when booking. Not a bad thing, and again a far better result than I'd been getting in other very expensive salons. As a bonus - Michelle is incredibly nice and genuinely cares that her clients are happy. Kimmie is a wonderful stylist! I got a haircut from her a couple of weeks ago and then came back yesterday for a color. It was really easy to book an appointment with her and she followed up and communicated well during the process. I told her how I wanted my hair cut and she knew exactly what I meant. I had hair down past my waist and got a medium length cut with layers. It turned out better than I imagined and she used a straight razor instead of thinning shears! Very skilled. For the color, I wanted a light toned blonde. I'm Asian with very thick black hair and she was able to achieve the color well! I'm so happy with my color and will most likely return to her for toning in the future. Besides that her bedside manners were so warm, professional and her salon is very well kept.
