This is more of a heads up to Lan who I think should know about the inadequate service some of her employees provide. I initially loved this place (the ability to walk in at any time, very decent prices, quality of work). In fact at one point I was going there weekly for a wash and blow out. Then the last time I went a different person than usual did my hair and basically berated me about how my hair is curly and if I still wanted the service then it would cost $35 rather than the usual $18 I had paid the 4 times before. She made me feel like I was stealing or something. Very degrading and disrespectful. I will NOT be coming back. I just wished I hadn't told so many others about how great I thought this place was before my last experience. read more

AHHH salon 206 is awesome! My friend found this place through yelp, and we were just looking for a basic asian salon, none of that $70 haircut kind of deal, to help with our overgrown locks. This place satisfied it all! We were looking for somewhere that was reasonable, and could give us what we wanted. We called ahead to make an appointment for 3 girls, and arrived in a seeminly random and not that extravagant little plaza. Upon entering, boy was it busy! They attended to us right away though, so having an appointment definitely is something to do! I asked for an A-line cut, and my friends had their own specifications, and NONE OF US LEFT DISSAPOINTED. The stylists were all very awesome!! The cuts were quite detailed but at the same time efficient. Our cuts were exactly how we wanted, and we didnt have to wait ages on the chair for it to happen. The stylists are very experienced and know exactly how to accommodate our image. The total for each haircut was 20-25$, which i think is pretty darn reasonable for the amount of service they provide. They are also very friendly and not catty at all. Very professional and they know their stuff. It is definitely worth the trek to come back! read more

I admit it: I'm a frugal dude when it comes to getting haircuts. My usual run of salons include Hairmaster, Supercuts, Hairblaster, Hair-today-gone-tomorrow, You-name-it chain of places. However, by fortuitous chance, I happened upon Salon206 while waiting for my car battery to charge at Oriely auto parts. Thank Jehovah I did because Salon206 is a male hair sanctuary in disguise as a mani-pedi, full service salon! Hong Trac, my stylist, cut my hair using only a pair of scissors. She made my nappiest of wigs look incredibly light. I walked out feeling pretty damn good about how the whole thing turned out. I loved my haircut, but that wasn't the best part of my trip. Do yourself a favor and have them shampoo your hair. You will feel like taking a nap while rub your scalp like a ball of dough! read more

I used to like this place, but unfortunately I can no longer go here or recommend it for other men. I have a beard. A short, well-groomed, obviously *intentional* beard. On TWO separate occasions, with two different stylists, they cut my hair and then, without asking, started up the shaver and began shaving my beard!! You do NOT shave a man's beard without asking him. It's personal, and often defines the way their face looks. This time was the final straw because I had an important meeting the next day, and was no longer going to look like MYSELF for this person!!! Unacceptable. They didn't even give me a chance to stop them, just SWIPE and a section of my beard was gone. No choice but to go home and shave the whole thing off. read more

Go to Lan! I had my first cut here last weekend, and have gotten many compliments! I hate to cheat on you, Seven, however, Salon 206, while it may be out of the way and not appear to be much more than a standard Supercuts--the service and cut were on par, if not superior to your cuts. And CHEAPER! First off, I was 15 minutes late to my appointment--and I called, but they were super friendly about it and didn't seem to mind once I was there. Lan addressed me by name several times, which made me feel welcome and valued as a new client. I decided to go for a whole new look, and got an A-line bob, and took about 4 inches off. I was nervous, but she made me feel comfortable and walked me through the whole process and always confirmed with me before she made a drastic move. The entire appointment only lasted about 20 minutes, and she flat ironed and styled as she went along, which I appreciated. So off with my new 'do, I was feeling stylish and confident, then time came to pay and the total was $17. Only $17! I'm used to paying a MINIMUM of $50 for a decent cut, so as you can tell, I was ecstatic and told Lan I'd be coming back again and again. read more

Just got a cut n color from Lan, the owner. She was very nice and conversed with me during my first appointment. Im glad I went here especially after many disappointing results from other high end salons!! She did a consult first i.e how much I wanted cut , style of cut, and best color that would suit me and my coloring. She started with a dry cut which really felt good since it took a lot of bulkiness away from the last cut. I asked for long layers and its exactly what she did. I was a little nervous about the color she recommended, but she assured me it would look the most natural. After 2 hours i walked out a new woman!! She even did a quick touch-up on my eyebrows before i left. Definitely worth the $73 -i look forward to going back for some waxing and blowouts in the near future. I had a post wedding photo shoot today and I had Thuy to do my hair up-do and makeup and the result was result was above and beyond. I had another bridal makeup artist for my wedding and she's one of the most famous makeup artist in town. Unfortunately, my wedding makeup didn't fullfill my expectation and it was so pricey. So, I wanted to try another artist with better rate. I found Thuy!! She's so good. I didn't do any trial run and she did my hair and makeup for the first shot and it came out to be so pretty! I've been coming here since last summer (2018$ and Ben has helped me go from basically black hair to grey/blonde. I prefer the grey because when it fades out it totally offsets the orange I tend to get. I have thick, wavy and dry hair so this is something I never felt could happen. Please understand that this doesn't happen overnight!! I started first by bleaching the bottom half of my hair and felt it was good, then I bleached my entire head about 3 months later. I got a shellac mani and regular pedi. Overall, it was a good experience but here's the lowdown: The good: The pampering for the pedi was great! Nice scrub, hot towel, and massage. The lady was nice and cleaned up my cuticles well. The shellac manicure was good. The bad: I hate to say it, but the paint job wasn't done well for the pedi. There's some paint on my skin around the nail and she put my sandals on before painting them. The shellac manicure was fine but I was missing the paraffin wax and shoulder massage that other nail salons offer with their manicures, so that was a little disappointing. Despite the bad, I like this place and will likely come back. It's clean, people are nice and for me, it's close to my house. :) read more

Fantastic prices. Good service. Great hair care. Need I say more?! Better than high end salons and a lot cheaper. The only complaint I have is that one time I went (I've been at least four times) an older lady, maybe Lan's mother?, helped bleach my hair and I don't think she was especially well-skilled. I ended up with some minor blisters in the area she had been working. Otherwise everything has been fantastic. When that lady took the scissor , I was almost crying when the first cut was done. I just want to jump out of the chair. I tried to tell myself maybe it could be her style, but it was not. I use to love this place. But they no longer take walk ins for pedicures. Twice I went in on the weekend and I was told that I have to make an appointment or wait 50 min until someone will show up or have time. So I went elsewhere and they lost my business. Other than this they seem to be busy on the weekend so I would definitely suggest going during the week. Their hairstylists are skilled and friendly, always smiling! I LOVEEEEE SALON 206. I have been getting my hair done here for the past 5 years. I was here before the new management (which I think happened 2-3 years ago) and I will say that this group of very talented hair stylists and beauticians ALWAYS makes me feel great after leaving the salon. I've had my haircut done by almost all of the stylists there at one time or another and they have always done a great job. They are very hip and always upgrading their look as a stylist and their look as a salon. Although parking is not the greatest in this small complex (which is shared with a Dominos pizza, a Thai restaurant, and an O'Reily's, I always tend to gravitate to this place because I know that I will be guaranteed a great haircut and great service. Love it here! I've been getting my hair cut here since 2008 and see Lan (owner) every time. My old roommate and (current) friend referred me to Lan and she's great! She always knows what to do with my hair and she knows that I'm lazy to really style my hair, so she's always honest about whether she feels certain hairstyles will work out for me. It's also very affordable. Cost will depend on your hair length, but I have never paid more than $20. I don't dye my hair, so can't really give any reviews on that. I did get highlights once which turned out great and I believe it was about $65 total with my haircut. I still go there even though I no longer live in Beacon Hill; totally worth it! read more

I've been back since my last review since they did a great job last time. This time I was planning for a quite drastic change as I picked out a rose gold color for my hair to be dyed with the bayalage ombre style. Unfortunately it took about 2-3 tries to even get a color close to what I wanted originally. In the end, the color applied to my hair wasn't even the one I wanted. It was a more lavendar/pastel purple color than it was a rose gold. And even though I asked for a bayalage, my hair appears to have highlights instead of the ombre I intended to get. Having only paid $90 for it I should have seen it coming. Maybe I'm not too familiar with color dyes having only dyed my hair 3 times, but after two washes (two weeks later) the color is pretty much completely gone. It still blends well because it's transitioned to a lighter shade of the color I had before. But, I would have appreciated more info on how long the color would last and maintenance tips before she went ahead and started applying color without a heads up. I'm still a lover of this salon and the people who work here. But I would suggest getting a whole head dye and a "textbook" color if that makes sense. They seem to do better with colors that are pretty well-known rather that your custom concoctions. The price is definitely unbeatable! read more

I felt an update was needed, since on my last visit, I thought my nails weren't painted all the way to the base edge (shellac). Clearly the gal knew what she was doing, my nails were perfect after I got home and they had the chance to fully set. I really liked my nails, and felt they were done well, almost as perfect as my old spot in Ballard. Trust me, I've had plenty of bad nail experiences, this was pretty darn near perfect.. I was looking for a local place to get a cut and get some color touched up. Based on Yelp reviews, I tried Salon 206. When I called, the lady was friendly and scheduled me for an appointment at the time and on the day that I wanted. I'd driven by many times on my way to QFC so I knew where to go. When I got there, I was happy to see a bright, clean salon full of friendly staff and happy customers who all seemed to be regulars. My wait time was short and the stylist was friendly. She really looked at the picture of what I wanted done and kept referencing it. The cut was wonderful and I will definitely go back for that. I have very fine hair and I like good layering for body and texture and my cut gives me that with minimal prep time in the morning. The color was good but my complaint is that she didn't get it close enough to the roots so after two weeks it looked like I had 6-8 weeks worth of grow out. If I get color done again, I will be sure to tell her to get closer to the roots. Other than that, she put some gorgeous, buttery blonde highlights in my dark brown hair that blended beautifully and didn't look like trailer park trashy. Last but not least, the price was right. $70 for a cut and partial foil was reasonable for what I got. A salon doesn't have to charge an arm and a leg. Too many people believe that the higher the cost, the better the service, buy at the expensive places, you're paying for atmosphere, not quality work. read more

I live in Columbia City and searched yelp for a dependable salon with good reviews and affordable prices and came across Salon 206. I called and made an appointment and 15min later was sitting in one of their chairs. The woman who cut my hair was very efficient! I was done in 30min! The only complaint I have is that I have naturally thick hair, and I did not want it thinned out, which she did without asking. I wasn't too upset b/c my hair needed the cut and layering so I didn't say anything but next time I will definitely make sure this doesn't happen again. It was only $20 for the cut, but that did not include a shampoo or blow out. I will definitely be going back! So glad I found this place so close to my house! read more

Still love them. They are fantastic. I've tried two manicures there (a syllac and regular) . They were both great!! I have also gotten an eyebrow waxing. My skin is a bit sensitive as I found out for the first time so next time I will ask them to ease a bit on the wax. I just tried this place for the first time. Good pedicure--nothing to rave about, but it did the trick. Manicure was a bit off--polish all around my nails, but it's just my clear polish, so no big deal. They did do a good job of cleaning up my nails and cuticles, which was sorely needed. Just finished a hi/low foil, shampoo and haircut with Ben. He is a perfectionist and I couldn't be happier. First time he colored my hair and we picked the colors together. Best part is the shampoo massage which can put you to sleep. They have totally redecorated since quarantine and it allows more room around you so you feel safe and of course everyone is masked. The best kept secret in Seattle hair. This little salon has the best stylist Lan who will give you that bombshell look you have always wanted ladies. The salon does not have all the bells and whistles of luxury that flows out of downtown salons. However, your hair will look luxurious after a cut from Lan. I have been here a handful of times and every time I am so excited after my haircut. She is highly sought so book in advance and often!
