I hate to have to complain, but I feel it's necessary to leave my feedback. I have been getting dip manis for years and have never had such poor results.
I called a week in advance to schedule an appointment. When the receptionist asked if I had a specific tech I would like to request, I notified him that this was my first visit to their salon and that I wanted someone who was obviously skilled with dip powder but he never told me who my appointment would be with. When I came in for my appointment, I was asked what service I need and if I needed a fill. I advised I had an appointment for a dip mani. I had to inform them of my appointment multiple times which makes me believe that appointments are completely disregarded. I was told to sit down and was not pointed to swatches to select a color from while I waited.
I believe Tiffany was my tech based on the license displayed behind clutter at her station, but she never introduced herself. When she asked what color I wanted while she began to soak off my set from another salon, I said I wasn't sure what my options were. She gave me one ring of options, a seemingly low quality brand I had never heard of. Even the tech I saw prior--who has very limited availability due to being a one woman operation and very popular with clients which is why I'm looking for a salon I can get into regularly--had at least 4x the options and she just rents a single room.
I ended up asking for pink and white since the sign posted said $47 for a full set vs. $45 for regular "organic" nails. I wanted to keep my nails round but Tiffany said she couldn't do French rounded with dip. I asked her if she could paint on the white instead. I also asked if she could do pink and white ombré with the dip. Again, she said no even though there are reviews with that style.
Upon filing my nails, Tiffany burned my nails several times. I have never experienced that anywhere across the country in all the years I've gotten dip, acrylic, etc. She also did not fully remove the prior color on all of my nails. She used bits from a box labeled "soiled" and her workstation was filthy. She dipped my nails into the communal jar for the first clear layer and although she poured the pink and white into separate, smaller plastic containers, she poured it all back into the original jars after which is the equivalence of communal dipping. The whole reason I chose this salon was because of a review that stated they don't engage in communal dipping which is against industry standards for dip manis.
At one point she made a mistake and took out a brush to fix it. I couldn't see what she was doing between the awkward angle and the reflection from the plexiglass divider. When she finished and asked if they were ok, I immediately pointed out that nail. She huffed and puffed and ACCUSED ME of causing her mistake. She said I moved when the chair moved and thats why the white was uneven. The chair moved in between nails and she even laughed about it. It was a completely different time during the manicure and she was just looking for an excuse to blame it on. Her "fix" was to make half of that nail super thick and uneven with the rest of the nail and my other nails.
The topcoat she put on is rippled and not smooth. She immediately moved me to take another customer before I was dry. She lifted the towel my hands were on which had debris from removing my old mani, as did her sweater. A piece of it must have fallen onto one of my nails when she moved me because as soon as I sat in the other seat, there was a chunk stuck to the topcoat. I immediately pointed it out and it came off easily without having to fix the nail, but she AGAIN tried to blame me.
Look at the pictures--these were all taken less than 48 hours after. This is not at all a quality dip mani. I would advise you schedule with Sally if you go here for anything more than a basic mani because the photos of her work (basically all the pictures) look good. Then they tried to charge me $55 for this sloppy and subpar job. I pointed out the sign said $47. They argued for awhile that pink and white is different than what I got. I pointed out that it was in the "organic nails" section and that's what I asked for, in addition to asking for Tiffany to paint on the French instead. I assume it was Sally who got involved and said she would honor the price. Then I paid by card and was going to tip in cash. The receptionist took my card and asked if I needed to put more on it. When he came back, the receipt showed a charge of $47.75. I pointed out that there was no signage of a credit card fee and he refunded me with change, but they need to have a sign up or advise at the time of the transaction there will be a fee.
Needless to say, I will not return. I really wanted to like this place based on many good reviews. It's a shame that I encountered so many issues and wasted my hard earned money only to walk away completely disappointed. read more
