Delicious pizza! I was vising the area and a friend suggested this place because it is so well known in the region for their pizza. I believe the original is in New Haven but we went to a closer location to us in Wethersfield. They were very busy for dinner but I loved the option of leaving our names and them texting us when they were ready. We actually didn't even wait as long as they originally told us. We tried the fried mozzarella as a starter and then split the house salad and a pepperoni pizza with basil and garlic. Everything was delicious but the star of course was the pizza. We moved to Hartford and had to experience New Haven pizza at Frank Pepe's Pizzeria. We were hooked. Soon we were regulars at the stores in West Hartford and in Manchester. We even went to New Haven once, to the original store! Then Sally's opened up in the West Farms Mall. It was a little too much mall and not enough pizzeria, but the pizza was excellent. That led us to try the store in Wethersfield, and we have quickly become regulars. In my opinion Sally's version of the New Haven crust is absolutely perfect! Every time, too, the crust is perfect! The tomato sauce is the best I have ever had anywhere. They have a good collection of interesting topping combinations. The space here is well laid out (the Mall site is much too tightly packed), and is just a tick above average. But, it is comfortable, and the service is very good. My one complaint is the parking. the restaurant is nested among some apartment buildings. There is enough parking, but it is not very close to the restaurant. But the pizza makes it all worthwhile! read more

This was my first time picking up from Sally's Apizza in Wethersfield, though I've ordered through DoorDash twice before--and every experience has been top tier. This time, picking up in person gave me a chance to see the space, which is clean, modern, and welcoming. Even though I didn't dine in, the staff was friendly, my order was ready right on time, and everything was packed with care. I was so hungry and excited, I completely forgot to take pictures--but that should tell you everything you need to know! The food smelled incredible the moment I opened the bag, and it only got better from there. The New England clam pizza with whipped ricotta and hot honey was perfectly balanced--creamy, spicy, salty, and sweet on top of that signature wood-fired crust. I got two orders of the garlic bread, and wow--each came with garlic butter, parmesan, red sauce, and pesto ricotta. Soft on the inside, crisp on the outside, and packed with flavor. The crispy calamari with cherry peppers, lemon, red sauce, and Calabrian aioli was cooked perfectly. Light, crispy, and full of bold, bright flavor without being greasy. The meatballs were hearty and tender, served with red sauce, whipped ricotta, and grilled bread--pure comfort food done right. For dessert, I had the olive oil cake with honey-macerated berries and lemon mascarpone cream--super fresh and light--and the cannoli pie with pastry shell crust, creamy filling, and chocolate chips was everything I didn't know I needed. Sally's APizza Wethersfield is definitely a go-to for me now--whether it's delivery, pickup, or hopefully dine-in next time. Everything is made with care, flavor-forward, and honestly addictive. Have been to their location in New Haven CT but wanted to checkout this new location in Wethersfield CT. The wait for pizza here is long currently so make sure to order far in advance if youre doing pickup. Although the pizza is a little pricey, you do get a great quality pizza that theyre known for. The specailty pizza selection on the menu is limited and i hope they expand upon it one day. New location looks great, is clean, and the service was excellent. Looking forward to trying some of their other menu items next time besides pizza. read more

Giving 4 stars based on quality of the pizza however- for takeout if you wait til later in the day to order it's 3-4 hour wait time. I was also disappointed that there did not seem to be options such as ricotta or fresh mozzarella, their toppings seemed both limited and expensive. The "specialty" pies were underwhelming. A pizza with 1 topping was $29 for a medium- definitely overpriced/overrated in my opinion but I will give them its good crust. I was up in the area, so I thought I would try out the new Sally's in Wethersfield. Parking: When I got there, there was a LAZ parking attendant directing the traffic flow.  She was very nice and asked me i I had a reservation.  I didn't know I needed one.  She said that you usually do and that the parking nearer the place is reserved by LAZ for people with reservations. When I said I would just sit at the bar or wherever, she directed me to one of the closer spots. She was nice and told me that the place had been jammed since they opened.  Even if you don't park in the LAZ area, there is sufficient parking in the lot well within walking distance of the door. Inside: The place gives off a sedate factory chic/club vibe, part pizza joint/part diner feel but with an open feel to it.  It's a happy hodgepodge.  The music that was playing was Rap and Hip Hop from the 80s/90s mostly.  Sometimes, some older music.  I saw a lot of tables, a number of booths, a modest bar area, and an open pizza-making area just outside the main kitchen. Guests: The clientele is mostly relatively affluent locals from Wethersfield and West Hartford, but one group of guests came here from Long Island.  Families with kids, some singles, some older folk in their 60s+ and young 20-somethings. Welcome: The staff welcomed me and immediately asked me if I had a reservation.  As I did not, they spoke to me haltingly; however, I asked them if I could sit at the bar.  They looked relieved, and I walked into the bar where I sat at a low-table ADA seat.  It was one of two and the only seat left.  I was told that I would have to move if someone came in with a wheelchair.  No problem.  I'll move in a heartbeat.  I like that the place is ADA friendly. Bathrooms: The two family bathrooms were spacious and clean.  Automatic everything. Service: My server, Sarah, introduced herself and asked me about drinks and what I would like to eat. She was attentive and charming, gabbing with the customers as she tended bar.  As a result, people at the bar, including myself, started chatting with each other.  She made the experience extra warm and friendly. Order: I wanted to keep it simple, so I got a 12" mozz. That's it.  I chose to get an Acqua Panna bottle to have with my meal.  Sarah brought it on ice like a bottle of champagne, which I thought was a nice touch for a simple bottle of water.  I cracked it open.  It's Acqua Panna. Enough said, right? Food: The pizza arrived piping hot; however, it wasn't molten.  Yeah, it was rested like a steak.  It sat for a short while before it came out because the kitchen was slammed. I'm good with that.  I like busy.  When the food moves, that's a good sign.  I grabbed a slice off the pan, plopped it onto my plate, and took a bite.  Wow!  The sauce!  I'm not a big tomato sauce fan, but I could drink a bucket of this stuff. This is the real Sally's sauce, which is one of my reasons for going to Sally's in New Haven.  The crust was super thin, charred, not burnt (there IS a difference, people), and the cheese was rather delicious.  It wasn't greasy relative to most places.  It didn't feel heavy.  As a result, I ate the whole thing. Dessert: I didn't order dessert because I ate the whole thing. Bill: The meal came in at a reasonable amount, and they take credit cards.  Sally's in New Haven takes cash only, but this place in Wethersfield is not a take-out joint.  It's a full, sit-down restaurant. Felt like walking into a cafeteria, airy and open. Was greeted by friendly staff who pointed to the take-out counter, where another friendly member of the crew handed over the pizza. Thumbs up to the crew. New Haven style. So if you are into that 'super thin burned crust' action, you have another place in central Connecticut to get some. And compared to the other 'thin burned crust' places around, its comparable. They built a Pepe's in Manchester CT a few years back, owned by the thin burned crust place in New Haven. I went there once, they asked me if I wanted my pizza cut. Sayyy what? Do I want it cut? Like I just eat it whole or cut it up with my special diamond encrusted crust slicer at home? Ok, I thought it was weird, so what could Sallys do to top that? How about limit how much stuff you can put on your pizza! Yah, you go to place your order online and as you try to add items, it doesnt let you. So choose meatballs or onions, not both. Wait, I take that back, you CAN do meatballs or onions, you just have to do it as a HALF AND HALF. No mixing your meatball! Dont know if you can demand a sausage, mushroom, onion pizza over the phone or in person, but the website implies ' NO, MAKE YOUR LIMITED CHOICE'. I googled the question 'WHY' and the answer was 'Sally's doesnt want to distract you from the delicious thin burned crust with cheese on it'. Ok. . . I guess, but doesnt that cost them money? They are charging like four bucks a topping, why not let the customer blow some cash on a loaded pizza?? Or cant the chef handle multiple items?? Does putting more than one item on a pizza ruin the intricate balance of its sauce/cheese/crust symbiosis?? According to them, " SIMPLICITY ROCKS!" Ok. . . .sure. Strange. This all being said, I grew up in the middle of the state where thicker crust prevails, and Greek style pizza places are a dime a dozen, so I'm kinda particular to thicker crusts and whatever you want on a pizza. And I think the middle of the state is where you get the best pizza and New Haven's thin burned crust pizza is just a weird, overrated anomaly. And they put an 'A' in front of the word 'pizza' so you think they are fancy. Did I say it reminded me of a cafeteria? Not that fancy. So bottom line, if you like the thin burned crust stuff, with one item on it, well Sally's is the place for you. Tiny amount of flavorless cheese, on a tasteless non airy flat crust. The burn makes it even more intolerable. The aftertaste lasts a long time. Clam pizza was unremarkable. I could taste every ingredient in that pie. The first time I went down Wooster St., I had to make a choice between Pepe's or Sally's. I chose Pepe's because the Uncle started it all. Been eating Pepe's for years. The other day, I was looking for pizza and saw that Sally's was rated as #1 in the state. Well now, I have to try it. They earned the #1 spot. Sally's smokes Pepe's. Met family for a Christmas dinner/gift exchange on New Year's Day and found the restaurant to be pretty busy. Seating is a combination of tables and booths. We were seated immediately with menus with drink choices on one side and apps, salads, pizzas, etc. on the other. Our server, who was very pleasant, took our drink orders and informed us that if we wanted to order pizza that it would be at least an hour wait. Given that the pizzas are thin crust we were a little confused by this. We opted to order entrees rather than pizza as we weren't enthusiastic to wait or that the pizza could be charred because of their baking process ( they use coal to fire the oven). We ordered ricotta ravioli, spaghetti carbonara, and tortiglioni vodka. All were small orders. After the orders were placed our server informed us that they were out of the pasta that is normally served with the vodka pasta was out and they would be substituting another type of pasta. The orders arrived in a timely manner and we were all taken aback at the size of the servings. There were three ravioli on the plate. Pricey dish for only three ravioli. The vodka and carbonara dishes went much better. The carbonara dishes looked a little dry and we asked for more sauce. The manager did come and explain if we wanted more sauce the dish would have to be remade because eggs were involved and they didn't want to make us sick eating raw eggs. Rather than wait for the dishes to be reformed we chose to go with what we had. The dishes were good, although the carbonara was very salty from the pancetta, it was the quantity of food we had a problem with. Comparing these same dishes to similar ones we've had at other places the price and quantity doesn't compare. We had to order garlic bread to fill in the meal but everyone asked what restaurant we were going to go so we could continue the meal. Garlic bread was the star of the evening. We did find the place to be a little noisy and made it difficult to carry on conversations with someone across the table. All in all the company of family was the best thing but we all agreed we don't think we'll be returning to the restaurant. read more

Well, this was my first time at this Sally's location it's not my first Sally's Experience. We walked in at around 3pm just had to wait for the table to be cleaned. Two other parties walked in behind us, we were sat first but the last to be waited on the other two tables had the same waitress. We had our own who took her time getting to the table.....and it wasn't because she was helping other tables. We were told it would take about 30 minutes for the pies......which it did. We went with a large tomato sauce pie added garlic and a specialty pie called the Calabrian Stinger......be wary the prices on the Specialty pie are for Small & Medium they do not list the price for the Large which was almost $40. The large tomato sauce pie highlights their sauce which is very bright not acidic and has a nice sharpness from the grated cheese. The Calabrian Stinger was very flavorful when your bite had toppings.. ..Which were pretty sparce....it's supposed to have salami not even 1 piece on ever slice some only had a half piece they literally just put slices in there the top of each slice. It also has red onion which was thinly sliced and also applied sparingly. It also has chopped cherry and sweet peppers which when you did get a bite with those you got the vinegariness from the chopped cherries and a slight sweetness from the roasted reds. It also was topped with nujda but I really couldn't taste it or really see were it was .....you did get the hot honey drizzle with each bite......but for an almost $40 dollar pie the toppings were lacking.....A nother New Haven famous Apizza place we frequents toppings are plentiful and your paying around $33 dollars for a large pie. Even though the pizza was good I'd prefer the drive to New Haven to get a bang for my buck. With faster pie turn around as well. Don't get wrong Sally's was good but they need to be less stingy with their toppings and quicker with their service. read more

Arrived in time for our reservation for 5 adults and a child. Their restaurant was not busy our server informed us that their distributor had not brought their beverage delivery. They only had 1 type of red wine available. We ordered two cocktails and 3 glasses of the wine they said they had left. When the wine arrived at the table the waitress told us that they now had no red wine left not one bottle of any red wine. That is fine we don't need to drink but really how does that happen. We ordered our food the server asked if we wanted the salads before pizza we said yes and she said she would get us more water. The pizzas came first. She kept saying she would bring us more water but never did then disappeared. Needles to say I am glad I live in the area because if I had driven any distance for that meal I would have been extremely disappointed. The service was bad. The manager came over and explained about the distributor but never offered any apologies or offered anything else. read more

We ordered the fried mozzarella, garlic bread, an extra (large 18inch) moz pizza. Fried mozzarella were amazing. But tiny!! Garlic bread was a little overcooked so pretty much hard bread with garlic. Pizza was good. Typical New Haven style, wait was about 25 minutes or so for the pie. I went with a large group of friends on a Saturday night and the experience was AMAZING. Our server Todd took excellent care of us. One of our pizzas came out missing a topping and he quickly had it remade! I also went to the restroom and asked a different server, Callie, about a drink she was bringing to a table. When I returned to the table, Todd asked me if I wanted to order that drink! AMAZING SERVICE! I then ordered the drink and Callie delivered it! Making sure I liked the drink she recommended. This new Sally's pros are nice staff very clean Great Brussels sprouts and crispy calamari Now regarding the pie the sauce and crust are definitely Sally's but the cooking method needs tweaking! My sauce only pie needed more cooking the sauce was not kissed by the oven it was like pasta sauce ! Sally's sauce is thick red rich and bubbly with char ! The Consiglio men need to educate the pie makers! We even allowed the pie some time to set up but it was not cooked properly! Too wet! We arrived "early" like 1130 and were seated immediately. Our server came over and asked us if we had been there before ( we had not). She informed us that the pizza was "sauce forward" and would take 45 mins. I assume people complain about the ratio of sauce to cheese so they forewarn customers? Because it was evidently going to take so long we both ordered a Cesar salad. My wife's came first and as it was huge, I canceled the second one as it had not yet arrived. There was push back from the server about this. She seemed miffed and was not what I would call "customer forward". It never came, but I did not check the bill and was charged for it ($15). Unfortunately, I did not notice until we were back home, so that ones on me. The pizza was adequate but extremely expensive. Good for them! People packed the place so they are clearly not considered expensive by the rest of the dining public. Personally, we have Luna Pizza where we live and while almost as expensive, the quality of ingredients is better. Clearly, Sally's Apizza is doing just fine without my patronage. I was in the area for work and seeing it was getting near lunchtime I called and ordered a pizza for myself to go. It was ready when I got there so I was in and out. The pizza had just come out of the oven so it was nice and hot. It was just myself so I got a small cheese and it was thin and crispy with a nice char. Let me start by saying I LOVE pizza and especially thin NY/New haven style. But dang man... $32 for a "large" that is the size of most small/mediums. To be that floppy and have char it almost defies the logic. The whole pizza just makes no sense to me and the appeal makes me think I'm missing something. I'm kind of bummed to be honest, I really thought this place was going to live up to the hype, but sadly it didn't. As far as the location goes, it is modern inside which I guess is why they charge more. But it just goes to show you that fancy doesn't mean better food. Service and staff couldn't have been a bit more inviting too, but who am I. Taste wise, I'll say the pizza is good, but not great. It is most certainly 100% overpriced and to call their large a large is highway robbery. If you're looking for an actual large and plan on feeding more than one person, then go get an actual large at Frank Pepe's or your favorite local pizza spot and enjoy it. Sallys needs to do a better job with screening their managers. We just left and our waitress forgot to put our pizza order in for over an hour. She apologized but the manager who kept coming to our area avoided us. The manager should have come over and apologized and ensured better service which did not happen. It's sad because the food is good but management lacks basic fundamentals of customer service. read more

I am so happy a location opened nearby since I was tired of driving all the way down to New Haven. Word of caution: the pizza takes a good long while between ordering and it arriving at your table. So be prepared to settle down and chill, or get takeout! If you haven't, you have to try the potato pie! I know it's not a common topping, but you won't regret it. All I can say is what a disappointment! My order was completely screwed up because their app supposedly is controlled by a third-party so the manager said it was not their fault. I paid for my pizza in advance when I showed up it was not ready. I was treated as if I was inconveniencing them. In the end they did refund me and gave me the pizzas at no charge, this was after I explained to them their audacity and making me feel as if I inconvenienced them. Horrible service! If you order the burratta, there isn't much burrata. If you get the normal tomato and mozzarella, just note it's not the fresh mozzarella. We tried Sally's Apizza for the first time, having been long-time patrons of Pepe's, so we were excited to compare. Although the wait was long, it was definitely worth it. The waitstaff was upfront about the wait, very attentive, and even adjusted our bill at the end. Now, about the pizza--it was light and crispy, but not too thin, with a perfect char! The toppings were fresh and delicious; we had the Calabrian chili, tomato and mozzarella, and the potato and rosemary pizzas. We also enjoyed several appetizers, with the fried mozzarella being the standout. The drinks were refreshing as well. We will definitely visit again soon! read more

We went here for the 1st time to see what all the hub bub was about. We chose 2 in the afternoon to avoid crowds and the wait. As expected only four or five tables of patrons finishing up their lunch. The waitress was very kind and we decided on the lunch special of a 10 inch pie and a soft drink. Still pricey but we're newbie's. For a place that serve hardly any food during our wait at the table, the food took a long time to come out. And, when delivered, mine came 1st by 5 minutes. Why we don't know. My pizza was less the hot. It felt like it stayed there hoping for the 2nd pizza to be ready but they figured out it would take too long so they brought mine. When you eat in, I normally expect to have to be careful not to burn my mouth as it can be so hot. Not so----very disappointed. My wife's pie finally came and it was steaming. The pizza is just ok. I know there are huge fans but i didn't feel it. Very thin and a bit tasteless. BTW, we ordered the regular pizza with mozzarella and toppings. Nothing fancy. Conclusion---we wont go back. It was ok but the ambience was "industrial" and the pizza was just ok. And it was expensive for what we got. We decided to give the new Sally's location a try and ordered for pick up at 7pm on a Tuesday. I requested the Italian wings and an "Extra" pizza 1/2 mushroom, but was informed they can't do the "extra" size to go because they don't have the boxes for them (why??!) so went with the "classic" instead.... was told my order would be ready in 30 minutes. The restaurant is located beneath an apartment building with no apparent designated parking. Inside was completely open, but poorly lit and the music was LOUD - like entering a night club. It was fairly busy for a Tuesday night at that hour. We arrived 25-30 minutes after ordering and our food was ready when we got there. The total came to $46.xx (for wings and a medium pizza!!) We brought a pizza bag so that our food would stay hot for the 12-minute ride home. The pizza was EXTREMELY thin. I like thin-crust pizza, but this was actually SO thin there was barely any sauce or cheese and it was ice cold! They also added oregano to the 1/2 mushroom side which I'm not a fan of. It appeared that the pizza oven was too hot - it wasn't just charred but BURNT. It felt insulting to pay that much for a cold pizza that was like eating burnt air. The wings were a little over-cooked and the description was misleading. There was no sauce on the wings - it came with a bland chili sauce on the side and a Parmesan sauce that was pretty good. I didn't think to count how many wings came in the order, but I'm pretty sure it was less than 12 ... maybe 8? (for $16.50!!) Needless to say, we will not be ordering from here again. read more
