I was looking for a pet store where associates would be knowledgeable and actually talk to a customer instead of hide. I was pleasantly surprised to find some very knowledgeable associates at SuperPet, some things they told me I was completely unaware that it was bad for me to feed my guinea pigs. I really do base most of my shopping or eating out on reviews of others but I'm glad I didn't this time. I love that you can actually see puppies of an assortment of breeds. The cages aren't too small like others were stating, and yes animals poop but while there I did see associates cleaning cages. They all were fed and genuinely happy animals. If I could offer you any suggestions I would suggest to give your local small business your business. When I called the store, who did not give me a receipt at the time of the purchase, I was accused of being a liar. As if we don't live in the age of technology, and I could prove the purchase on my banking app. The manager didn't even bother to listen before going on the defense. I'm guessing he's used to defending unethical and unsanitary business practices, after I discovered multiple petitions to shut Super Pet down with similar complaints to mine. All the rabbits are subject to overcrowding, are not given proper diets (bowls are 90 percent pellets and 10 percent hay). They stopped selling dogs in response to the backlash for mistreating them, but it is clear the other animals are malnourished and unhealthy. This business has no knowledge of pets or empathy for customers who complain. Adopt, don't shop! read more

After reading your poor reviews and finding multiple web sites from the public for petitions to have your "business" reviewed. Come on now. There is a poor basset hound puppy in there right now who is clearly showing signs of spinal issues and collapses after after every 2 steps and her back legs make a Y. If I could give this place 0 stars I would. Went in yesterday and was disgusted. The puppies were filthy and the cages were nasty. Terribly presented as they sit in the middle of the isle. One of the kittens was clearly wormy with a bloated stomach and goopy eyes, so severe that she could barely open them. We watched her drink water for about 15 minutes straight as other customers commented on the health of it and if it would SURVIVE. I am disgusted and tempted to find a way to report them. Only offering one star because I HAVE to. Visited this store today looking for some pond additive for my koi. I was appalled by the dead fish in every tank, the lack of stock in the store, dirty bird cages, and the lethargy of the staff. Empty shelves abound. Dirt and dust everywhere. They are still selling puppy mill puppies at twice the price of a reputable breeder. Hard to see this. Asked the cashier if they were closing the store, just got a dirty look and a "nope". I had spent $140 here a week ago on a rabbit and a rabbit cage and everything we needed food wise. a week later my sons rabbit wasnt really eating for 2-3 days and it's stomach was so hard and big and since the rabbit is a girl I thought they had sold me a pregnant rabbit so I called and they just said they can't do anything about that and will happily take the babies from me. I wasn't happy with that response as I did not sign up for a pregnant bunny. I had booked an appointment with a vet but The next morning my sons rabbit died in its cage. I called the store and informed them that my sons rabbit had died and I wanted a refund on my new supplies. I have a $15 Unopened bag of rabbit food and she can't return any of my stuff without a receipt. I wasn't not planning on returning my stuff in a week but clearly I was sold a sick rabbit and she just said she can give me a new rabbit. Unfortunately this store puts profit over the well being of the animals. The sugar gliders are kept out in the middle of the store and their cages smell awful. The puppy's are kept in tiny cages and left to sit in their own pee and poop. The reptiles are kept in inadequate housing with awful lighting. They had a 6ft Boa in a 30 gallon tank!!! They sale animals with health conditions and publicly announce it. A $700 bird was on sell for $200 because it according to them needed TLC!!! The bird was a mess! The owner must be rich and could care less about people, or sales. Having just got out of the hospital I decided to stop by and get Betta, a aquarium, and all the supplies knowing I would be home recovering for a week. My ride was kind enough to stop for me. Not only the aquarium and supplies, but on the way in I saw a Yellow Uromastyx in a aquarium that I just fell in love with. It was $99 plus another aquarium and the lights and sub-straight and the heater and shelter. Since price was not a issue I decided I was going to shop for the fish stuff first and then tell the folks up front I wanted the Uromastyx. Well, he is still there and so is the aquarium. Following my hospital stay for a renal stone problem, and infused with about 4 gallons of water, I found myself in need to use the restroom to eliminate some liquid. I was told by the young lady up front, young, thin, in a grey outfit, that I could not use the facility. That made matters simple. I left the things I had looked at lay in the aquarium heater department and told CT I need to leave. We left, she dropped my off for a moment at Gordy's Tiger Mart to solve my problem, and then on we went to Petsmart in Millsboro. I am the proud owner of $150 worth of aquarium equipment and still wanting a Uromastyx I will just look up Pet Stores in Delaware or Maryland on the Net and I will find one. Glad to see this owner has so much money he could care less, which was obvious by the demeanor and manner of his front end staff. If he can no longer pay his rent in his high prices location......I for one will celebrate his closing. read more

I have bought 2 animals here. First my Bassett hound. That was 5 years ago.Well he was very sick and had tp take him to pet er that night I got him. It cost over 400 dollars just that night. I went to the to pet store and made a big seen. Which got me nowhere. They said I could took him to there vet or return him. I already got 400 plus the cost of the dog. He only lives 2 years. Then my daughter bought home a rabbit which I got very attached with. Well I had yo take him to the vet. Which cost me more money than I care to say. The vet told me that he was not been taking care of. Well my bunny just passed away in his short life. I see the management or owners answer these question always someone else's fault. All the dogs there have coughs and look so bad. I hate to see what you say about my review. We went into this store excited to see the animals but they kept the dogs in these very small cages and when they tried to tell the workers they needed to use the bathroom they were ignored. The one worker, Victoria, was SO rude and definitely needed an attitude adjustment. When we asked to pet one of the dogs because we were interested in her she went up to another worker and started whispering to him instead of speaking with us directly. The man worker then told us we couldn't after he had already taken her out of the cage. This place has knowingly sold puppies with illnesses such as kennel cough, which is contagious. The puppies source of water is often a bottle designed for rabbits and small animals. I know several veterinarians who have treated animals purchased from here who within hours to days of purchase with parvo which is contagious and lethal even with aggressive treatment. I have witnessed them selling a "healthy" bloodhound puppy that was so thin you could count the vertebrae in his spine and every rib was prominent. They sold a great Dane puppy and as the new owner was leaving with the dog say "oh, here's his medicine. He had kennel cough" yet the dogs are supposedly sold with a health certificate? If there was anything less than one star I would give it to super pet. THIS IS A HORRID PLACE that has a turn around rate for dead animals that is similar to a treadmill effect. If one dies they will just give you a new one no questions asked. However, I was uneducated on this matter so I bought my very first bunny there, wasn't given any instructions, and was promised a refund if anything were to happen. Low and behold he died less than a week later. So, I went back to the very disgusting, atrocious, nasty, horrendously un-kept store to talk to a manager that was rude as all get out, of which said I could be credited with a "live stock credit". Meaning... I was only allowed to get another animal to replace the sick one that they gave me. Who is to say that this one wouldn't die a week later as well? I have never been to a place that has even been so un-understanding and deplorable. I then asked to contact the owner, and they said he/she could not be reached and that I couldn't be provided any contact information, not even an email. Anyone could go buy a kitten or bunny there. They require no background qualifications, and nothing there comes with papers. I am absolutely befuddled as to how they have not been shut down by the heath department or any animals activist groups. They take in free liters of kittens (leaving that owner unresponsible for their unfixed pets), then they give away these babies with the purchase of food! , too small to even be sold. So then those people don't get them fixed and the cycle continues. If you want to be involved in actual pet responsibility in the community, have the kittens go with a guarantee to be spayed or neutered and give the money to the original person so they can fix their cat. My roommate got a kitten from here with the stores promise that the kitten didn't have fleas, worms, ear mites ect. when she got home I noticed that the kitten was covered in fleas and needed a flea bath. Not even a week of having the kitten my roommate woke up to it dead on her floor. When we went to the store to complain the manager wasn't even phased by the information and said all she could do was give her a replacement cat. No one was concerned that the kitten had something wrong with it and possibly the other animals in the store were sick as well. over all I am very dissatisfied with the employees that work there, the conditions the animals are living in, and I'm questioning the credentials of the Vet that looks at these animals. This place needs to be shut down and I suggest everyone take their business elsewhere. read more

They should NOT BE IN BUSINESS!!!!! They had guinea pigs on the sidewalk yesterday that were "free". They were missing hair, scabs, bloody faces and over-all horrible condition. They were being handled and held by the general public. I thought that they had possibly been in a fight even though some inside the store were not that great looking. I was told by 2 employees that they were allergic to the cedar bedding and that is why they looked like that. I felt so sorry for them that I took them home so I could get them better and find good homes for them. Anyone with a heart couldn't have left them there. I got triple anti-biotic ointment and hydrocortisone for them as well. So, since yesterday, I have found out that they have "Mites", which are equal to head lice in people. It is very contagious to other animals. So every person who touch those yesterday and then touched any other dog, bunny, guinea pig or duck in that store has now passed those mites to them. Also to the girls who were holding those "poor little pigs" up against their clothes, now has possibly taken it home to her animals. The vet wanted $49 per guinea pig plus medicine. I called the pet store and the managers response was, "We will look at our other animals and see what we think". What you think? We know what you think. You think you will sell anything no matter what the condition as long as you make a buck. There were several green fish tanks with lots of slime as well. The puppies, 8/10 of them were in a wire enclosure out on the grass yesterday. Rather sunny and warm to say the least, yup, you guessed it. Not a BIT OF SHADE IN SITE. I don't understand why this place is still in business. IT IS BEYOND HORRIBLE. BE CONCERNED FOR YOURSELF AND YOUR PETS AND DO NOT FREQUENT THIS BUSINESS. Nobody in there really has knowledge of the animals they sell. They mix males/females of bunnies and guinea pigs together saying, they are too young to breed. I wandered into this place around 11:00a today just to browse around at the different animals.. I'm not usually into pet shops due to the use of puppy mills for their "products" , but I had time to kill so I walked in and I'm glad I did because I will be reporting this establishment to an animal right association. They had a Doberman and a Rottweiler housed together in the play area. I walked over with my grandmother to play with them and noticed the Doberman's front left paw was "knuckled" in. I've worked in the pet care industry so I noticed it right away. This condition comes from malnutrition and or over feeding.. When I say malnutrition I mean the quality of food used is well bellow industry standards. When we brought it to one of the shop employees attention she proceeded to take the dog a couple isles over and let it run around a bit. Them she came back and said that "he will grow into his legs". I informed her that if left untreated it will only get worse to the point the dog won't be able to run and she didn't know what to say. Now mind you this dog was on sale for 1700$. That price for a healthy Doberman is ridiculous anyway but to get away with selling a deformed animal is beyond wrong, inhuman, and dirty dealing. I'm in the process of correspondence with an animal rights agency to investigate this. Whoever purchases this puppy will not only over pay but will be stuck with a mountain of debt due to veterinary bills. It's sad that this business has been around doing this since the 80s. Please just adopt a rescue pet. You know you may end up spotting the Doberman there some day if he doesn't end up put down because they can't sell him after he can't walk anymore.. read more
