Paws Claws in West Ocean City has a horrible service and attitude! The lady's name is Jan. My wife and I stopped in to buy cat food and the store clerk would not even look up from the register as she was playing on her phone. When we asked her a question she ignored us. We asked again and she hollered, "I am busy what do you want!!??". That is not the attitude we expect from someone that is supposed to help and welcome customers. The Store Employees are supposed to be respectful to customers! We asked for her name and she did not want to give it so we asked again and she said Jan. She was belligerent, rude and acted very unfriendly. We asked to speak with the manager and she said she was. My wife and I looked at each other and we walked out. Since I work in the costumer service industry I'm very picky in a lot of things. Let me tell you the service and the helped I got today was beyond amazing. The two employees really helped us. They walked us through the things our puppy may or may not need and the treat he might love everything was incredible. The options the store has are perfect! Highly recommend it. Very friendly and knowledgeable owners, great selection of really good brands. They don't sell anything they wouldn't feed their own dogs. Skip the Petsmart down the street and stop here on your way in or out of town. Store also carried lots of collars, harnesses, etc. We accidentally left the dog's bag at home so needed treats, toys, snacks, and food. We got all of them here at great prices. They have birthday cookies, cupcakes, home baked dog treats. They offered my dog three different treats to see which she preferred. I usually feed orijen which big box stores don't carry. They carry the brand here, but also gave me samples for verus, which they suggested as better for her now given her age (and laziness.) I don't like pushy sellers, but these owners were nothing but sweet, kind, and not pushy. Highly recommend! read more

This is for sure the best pet supply store in the area. Not only were the people working here extremely friendly but they had a nice selection of of products. When I told the man working the problems I was having with my dog he was able to recommend some food and treats for him to try. We also got a really cute dog toy with the squeaker per his suggestion. Wish I could give more stars for this local shop. Have visited on two separate occasions, even a year apart...and still, very weird experiences. Went in with my dog to get some Zuke's bones and we noticed a life-size stuffed dog in an adjoining room of the shop. As we started to walk in, we were startled by an employee who told us that dogs were not allowed in that room because it was carpeted. I apologized, and walked immediately out of the room. Seemed very strange for a pet store to have such a rule. There was not a sign posted anywhere stating such. The employee did offer to hold my dog's leash so I could go into the room with carpet, but I was not interested in shopping in the other room without my dog. I observed that customers here are treated differently. I am not sure if it is based on looks, age, or even frequency of visits, but on both occasions of visiting Paws and Claws, this was definitely practiced. read more

A wonderfully knowledgeable business that is locally owned and operated. The staff and owners are always able to help with any problems a pet may be having with diet or health issues by suggesting different foods, limited ingredient items, etc. I do not shop at the chain store down the street but instead go here for all my pet supplies and foods. read more

I can't tell you how many issues they resolved (diarrhea ,hairball etc. ) through the 4 years I have been a customer for my two cats and one dog. Super friendly place.... they are always smiling and asking if they can help you find something. You can bring your dogs in so it's always nice because they give your pup a little treat... even though my dog is a treat whore and will go back over and over and try to give paw for another one. Like an damn addict. Anyway, great selection of toys, treats, other dog accoutrements. They carry brands you can't get at petsmart or petco. And they have a deal about buying a certain number of bags and getting one free. It's not the bare bones (pun intended) cheapest place to go-- but we have no problem paying a few extra dollars to support a local business that cares about its community. And about the carpeted area not allowing pets... there is CLEARLY a sign. Because they have probably had accidents in the past which triggered putting up the sign. I went into the new location in North Ocean City last week and was so delighted with the merchandise selection and helpfullness of the women in the store, I believe maybe she was the owner but not sure. I made several purchases and cannot wait to go back on our next trip to the beach, I have already started my shopping list.
