Dart boards in the back
Breanna B.

Not normally a bar I'd frequent, but now after visiting, I'll be back when the mood fits. We were there on a Saturday -- SU was playing Duke so everyone was rocking their orange tees. We grabbed some brews and headed to the back where there were dart boards (friends played), we watched them, and got sucked into the game. It was nice that they put the volume on so everyone could follow what was happening. After the game, the music went back on. There are seats and tables for sitting back there too along with pool. They even have a vintage cigarette machine -- I haven't seen one of those in a while. Even though I don't smoke it was still cool to see (FYI takes only exact change). It's much larger than I expected so there's room for people to move beyond the bar, which filled up first. At 8pm it wasn't too packed, but by 10pm it was semi-crowded. They have a good tap selection and cheap! I enjoyed a few Lagunitas IPAs. Lots of peanuts and popcorn for munching.

Saturday night drink specials

I love Salinger's for what it is, a classy dive like bar. This isn't your Murphy's Law, or One type place. It's a casual, hang out with great people and great drinks. It's usually not overly crowded and can easily get a drink here. They recently expanded the place with blowing out the left wall that allowed more tables and places to talk. Part of the reason they expanded is they plan to have an in-house kitchen that will offer the typical bar food, but will highlighted by their own smoked meats! They also have a few dart boards and a pool table for entertainment. What I absolutely love at Salinger's is the large variety of beer and drink specials at ridiculous cheap prices. First they have Moosehead larger. Having grown up in Buffalo, I frequented crossing the northern border and discovering one of Canada's more unknown treasures. I recommend it, and I've never seen it in the US. Secondly they have these great craft beers bottles at $2 on a Friday and Saturday nights!! I've seen no places like it! Try: Moosehead, McSorley's Black, Seadog blueberry and Purple haze. It's one of my favorite bars in the entire 585.

When we entered the sports bar the tunes were going and drinks were flowing, definitely a place I can see as hopping for events. We were seated in the back and luckily we knew what we wanted to order, I split some tenders with the little yelper and misses ordered the mozzarella sticks. The mozz sticks were nice crispy and had that cheese stretch which is always good. The tenders though, hand breaded which is nice but they were really overcooked, to the point the breading had that weird taste to it. Neither of us were really impressed by the 3 tenders, but we powered down 2 of them thanks to some ketchup , Nashville hot and bleu cheese. As great as the waitress was , next time it'll be just beverages.

The Caesar was adequate with a fair portion of add-on chicken. The chili was sub-par: thin and soup like, not many beans or beef. The bartender was more interested in talking with her friends and family and taking care of other customers by follow-up. Would I repeat? In a pinch if I had. O other choice.

Service was really slow because they were understaffed for the size of the crowd. But the servers were attentive and nobody had an attitude like they didn't want to help you. They were clearly working their tushies off. The chicken tenders are beer battered which was a little bizarre but also not bad. The poutine, and all the other fried potato options, are clearly frozen from a bag but fine. I would definitely go back to try drink specials or the hot wings. In other words, I'd go back for the bar.

Twisted Tap struck out on more than one level…read more I had been seeing their posts about their drink specials and omg they just look so beautiful that I knew I just had to get here and try them! When we arrived we asked about the drink specials and the waiter seemed clueless about them. There was no menu with them listed or at least he said there wasn't one. So he attempted to verbally give us the choices but he wasn't sure about the ingredients for many of them. If you're going to promote your drinks is it too much to have a menu with them? So we get our drink (chose the seasonal milkshake) and omg it is nothing like the promoted pictures. Pretty sure it's missing an entire ingredient (caramel), it's watery and lackluster. I would have been much more successful with a blender at home. Then to top off this oh so great experience, our waiter was just rude. He was so not open to answering any questions or guiding us. This was our first time here and it felt like he couldn't be bothered. When he brought our drinks he essentially just disappeared. And it wasn't crowded so it's not like he was tending to tons of tables, it felt like he was avoiding our table. It's was super strange and definitely not welcoming. I am in no hurry to return, this experience really soured our day. It seems like their advertisements are just smoke and mirrors. Don't waste your time.

My summer brew draft was a light, crisp, and refreshing drink paired with beer pretzels and when in New York - Chowder. My waitress was a doll - so nice! I was originally sat indoors but when she saw me keep looking outside and offered to move me. Coming from the restaurant industry from my younger years I was concerned that if I moved she'd loose a table but there was no issue at all. The heaters were on outside, I had an amazing time and even got to experience the falls from the rooftop. Overall 10/10 experience from service to food & ambiance. I don't normally travel to the same place twice for work but if I do, this will be my spot to show

Wow what an experience!!! Visiting from Miami and Arizona!…read moreI came with my family (group of 9) We waited for about 40 minutes, and it was very much worth it. Starting with the friendly and attentive service from the staff. Even the security guard outside welcomed us to Rochester and made his recommendations! Amanda took care of our table and she made our experience much more memorable. The raspberry lemon drop **ELITE** I had three! And the food, we all devoured every bite. The amount of food was perfect, the sides were all so tasty, I couldn't pick my favorite! The ribs I was so happy from beginning to end. It was the best way to end the night, even the kids couldn't stop raving about the delicious food! Thank you so much team! I would 10000% come back if I'm in Rochester!

It was def a BBQ joint, but I wasoasing the dinosaur but. Anywhos, service was fantastic. I was seated quickly (party of 1 usually do) and my waitress was amazing. Once I figured out my choices, I went with the 3 course meal. Jerk wings to start, 1/4 chicken (I went with thigh and deum instead of breast and wing), beef brisket, side of Cajun corn, roasted whipped sweet potatoes, organe cream soda, and key lime pie for the dessert. First off, wings were delish and a great way to start. Then the entrees was a good portion. I was hesitant to try Cajun corn again since the last place I tried it was very unfulfilling. But here it was delish. Sweet potato were solid. Chicken was not dry at all, and brisket was tender and smokey. Soda was not too heavy, and the key lime pie was so so good (but honestly I should have gotten it to go as it was too much food). Overall, this place was wonderful. If I ever come back to Rochester I will be coming here again.
