Delicious Luca Fries & dipping sauce!
    Campbelle W.

Salice (formerly known as Luca) is delicious! I've been here quite a few times and have always had a great experience. I love sitting out on the patio on a nice day! The fries & dipping sauce are one of my favs along with the Hugo Spritz! I've also had the Campanelle pasta and 4 cheese pizza and both were delish! I have yet to try their happy hour, but planing to make a trip soon with 1/2 off wine, beer, and pizza!

What a Catch - Perfect Date Night Spot Birmingham, AL, what a catch. This place gives off full "mamma mia, let's go to Italy" vibes. From the moment you walk in, everything just feels right. It's an awesome date night spot. Beautiful outdoor scenery, with cute little bar areas that make it feel lively but still intimate. Inside, the atmosphere is just as good we really enjoyed ourselves. We ordered a chef's board along with two pasta dishes, and everything was incredible. Honestly felt more like art than just food. Our server was great too: funny, kind, and made the whole experience even better. This is one of those places where you know you're going to spend a little money, but you also know it's going to impress. Overall: Easy 5/5 perfect date spot.

This restaurant is in a great location and very cute looking. The food is good, but not great. Service was good, but not great. Went during happy hour and got half price round pizza and wine. I had the chef special and a margarita pizza. Pizza does take a while to cook but it's made known on the menu. Got a salad to split with a friend and it was a good size for the price. Good place to go for friends or date night.

    Just Bread....is soooo good!

Yes, it's a little expensive, but so worth it. The pizza has the fantastic punch from Parmesan and the creaminess of fresh mozzarella. The bread has a light and airy bite with so much flavor from the rosemary and large salt crystals. I could live on this bread.

We loved going to Luca and I'm very glad nothing has changed with the name change! Service and atmosphere are just as good! Perfect patio for drinks and apps. Dinner is always good there too and I love their drinks! Will be back for sure.

Luca was amazing, not only did I love the food but the atmosphere as well. I went to grab a cocktail with my friend and we fell in love with their signature "Luca Fries". The crisp, the cheese and the sauce all to die for!! I also ordered the Collard Green Caesar salad and even though this was a first I loved the extra "umph" the collard greens gave the salad. It added more flavor for sure! I also ordered the Campanelle which reminded me of a Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo. It gave that concept but the flavoring was slightly different. You could easily tell it had fresh ingredients. Last but certainly not least the staff was very accommodating and checked in on us very often! I will definitely consider this one of my new a regular spots. I am eager to try wine and Pizza on my next visit!

Here's my quick breakdown: Ambiance 5/5, Service 5/5, Food 4.5/5, and Drinks 5/5 We started out with a sangria and an old fashioned, both of which were delicious! For appetizers, we got the arancini and the fried mozzarella. The arancini are a MUST have, but the fried mozzarella were nothing special. My partner got the papardelle which has a unique flavor profile and is worth trying if you want something off the beaten path! It was still yummy! I got the NY strip with the golden potatoes which was phenomenal!! The space is beautiful and our service was great from the moment we stepped in the building! 100% worth checking out!

Host was friendly. Server was also friendly. Meatballs were good, forgot to take a picture. Chicken pizza was just ok, chicken was too dry, crust was not as crispy as I would've liked. Steak had too much char but overall had a great flavor. Would return and try other items.

Okay, this is a very, very small sample size as all we got was their bread with olive oil to go.....but, as small a sample as it may have been, it was really really good! So now we will for sure be back to give the rest of their food a try. Will update the review then!

Luca does a lot of things right: bold flavors, good portion sizes, tasty cocktails, and a sophisticated ambiance. We had their meatballs, Luca fries, Caesar salad, and the campanelle pasta. Their meatballs were sweet and savory, their fries were cooked and seasoned well with a tangy sauce, and the pasta dish was on point: rich, creamy, and nicely cooked. While we only had one cocktail, a Hugo Spritz, it was excellent (granted, they're hard to mess up). However, their Caesar salad was unbalanced, with olive oil overpowering the tang and umami. Service started off slow, but once our drink orders were in, the service picked up. With this in mind, Luca does earn an imperfect score from us for this visit; nonetheless, we can certainly recommend it.

Anyways, everyone ordered a calzone and we opted for a large cheese bread which came out ahead of the calzones. What a perfect idea, right....Most places bring your salad or appetizer before the meal, but often way too close to the meal. This young man was running the place alone with great timing. Taking orders, preparing food, cleaning up tables after guests and handling it all very well. Cheese bread was great, fresh out of the oven. Two meat lovers calzones, a supreme calzone, and my wife's over the top concoction of sausage, onion, mushroom, pineapple, and green olives were all a hit and also hot baked from the oven. Messy, but good. Music reminded me of car rides with my mom back in the 90's. Large portion of the dining room says it's closed but I couldn't figure out why. Even though one guy was running the entire show, service was great. About $20 per person with tip, so not too bad. I like their pizza box, which says 'break the chain - eat local'.

I stopped by for lunch, and ordered the ziti with meatballs. I didn't get a drink because they only have soda; no water or tea. The ziti was lukewarm. The sauce and meatballs were a little on the bland side, but pepper flakes livened it up. The garlic bread was extra crispy and burned to charcoal around the edges and bottom. I didn't see the bottom was burned until I tasted it. As it it tasted of carbon. I am surprised they let that out of the kitchen. The bill with tip came to over $15, and I don't think the meal was worth that. I think they need.to look at what they are putting on people's plates before it leaves the kitchen. Non-soda drink options would be nice as well.

Yet,…read morewe are humans, we cannot stop ourselves at the Neapolitan classic version, the iconic NYC slices nor the Chicago deep dish. Something within us, is tirelessly reinventing. Whether good or bad, someone else can decide. A real distinction of Pizza Grace is in its most fundamental element, and the aspect that one could argue to be the most important part of any pizza, period. Of course, that would be the crust. The crust here is created with wild yeast sourdough, called "Frank", resulting in a unique profile regardless of what later lands on top of the pizza. Let's pause here for just a second, is it not ridiculous having to wait 24-48 hours for the slow crust fermentation to happen? Apparently, the owners Chef Ryan Westover and his wife Helene didn't think so. Their signature pizza here is no less impressive either: topped with Louisiana crawfish, ricotta, Parmesan, mint and basil. It is a true star of the show. It's hard for most people to pinpoint exactly where they had the best pizza of their life, but this warehouse building in Alabama might just end up being that spot.

Although we had reservations, the hostess looked at us like we had three eyes. She found a small table for us in the far back of the restaurant. No problem, at least we were seated. Our server greeted us quickly and went over the menu. We ordered drinks, blistered Hungarian peppers and a sausage and mushroom pizza. We told him that we were going to a concert and were on a little bit of a tight schedule. By the time our server checked on our food, the second time, we went from a little bit tight to full "gotta get out of here" mode. I guess the delay in getting our food was to give the kitchen time to burn our pizza. Over half of the thick, chewy crust was inedible. The bottom of the pie didn't fare much better. The peppers, on the other hand, were amazing. (not so much so at 2 am but that's just me!) They are a do not miss. We were at least able to settle our bill quickly and made it to the concert with time to spare. Overall, would we go back? Only if in the area - those peppers were amazing. Still, I definitely would not make a special trip.
