But, having been served 'day old' bakery at full price more than once, as if these are premium items, is a bit distressing bc it erodes trust. That I will now have to ask whether or not what we want to eat is 'fresh baked' lessens the relationships we build as consumers. Consumer loyalty is earned not just from service, but trust built from expectation the cash we're spending is for something of equal value. Lately, that measure of standard has not been met which is sad, considering this is such a cool little Cafe at which to enjoy one of the #SweetLemonKitchen's famous #CinnamonRolls, #FruitScones, &/or #ChickenSalad sandwiches. Losing $13-22 per person per visit isn't good business, & hope you will make the decision to rectify this in the future: If you're going to sell 'day old' bakery, then give the consumer the option to pay 'half price' for the old item or full price for 'fresh baked'... which would be equitable & ensure trustworthiness, #imho ;)

We were starting to think the seasonal items were gone! Tonight, we asked if they were still selling them, and Sage let us know they've just been selling super fast--which honestly? I'm not surprised. Everything from Paris Baguette is f*****g phenomenal! She recommended the best time to come by and mentioned she's actively working on a solution to keeping a wider selection available at all times. Turns out, Sage is one of the owners! Also tried both croquettes -- curry and crab. I liked them both. My favorite item was the croissant donut. I remember waiting in line for one of these years ago in NYC at Dominique Ansel's bakery (where it was invented). The details are blurry so I can't compare the two however this one was very good. The service was the only part that could have been improved, for me. The employees just seemed checked out and aloof. There was a woman stocking the shelves that didn't seem too approachable. Someone else asked her for a recommendation and she just told them she was diabetic. Not saying bakeries shouldn't hire diabetics but maybe have some secondhand recommendations ready to go. Another petty customer service issue -- when I called to order the cake, the employee offered to write a free personalized happy birthday message. I thought that was great and obviously accepted. They acted as though they would rather be anywhere else and made us feel like we were an inconvenience for being there. For a special occasion, we expected at least basic friendliness and hospitality, but the service completely took away from what should have been a fun celebration. The food may have been good but the customer service was enough that we would not return. A restaurant can have great food, but if the staff makes customers feel unwelcome it really impacts the entire experience.
