I wanted to love this bakery but the concha's fell short along with the ambiance. Maybe it was an off day but defiantly let down.

We have been meaning to try this bakery for quite a while and I'm unsure why we waited so long. Regia bakery is located hard off 183 in Leander and shares the same strip mall as our favorite Mexican meat market and breakfast joint. They seem to have their act together following the Rona guidelines and a very nice person will assist you by selecting your goodies from the cases. The sweet empanada was my favorite. We also purchased pumpkin pig cookies, & concha sweet bread. We bought enough for two hearty servings and we looked forward to having these delights with our breakfast the next day. They did not make it past noon! They also have premade sandwiches and the Cubano sandwich caught my eye for my next visit. Nice people, great prices, and a wonderful variety of pastries! read more

After hearing a lot about this place, we finally went to visit when we we're in the area. I found the place to be quite underwhelming. Here's the scoop: -The shelves were pretty bare. Some shelves were totally empty or have just 1 or 2 items available. -We did get a few different pastries to try. We brought them home to sample and they were all on the stale side. Bummer. -The staff were not friendly at all. They almost seemed annoyed we were there. -I told a friend who had recommended the place to me about the experience and they told me it has new owners now and isn't as good as it was with the previous owners. We stumbled upon Regia's while on a Sunday morning donut run. While they didn't have any donuts - as you can see from the pic, they had an incredible assortment of pastries, sandwiches, breads and other delectable bakery treats. Who needs donuts when you see all Regia's has to offer. The new owners were in the store and were incredibly friendly and helpful. I was not familiar with many of the options they offer from their native Cuba and Venezuela, but he was patient and explained what I was interested in perfectly and made a few great suggestions as well. They have done an outstanding job of bringing their food culture to Leander and we will be back over and over again! The layered flakey, custard pastry was beyond delicious. The pineapple ninja throwing star (yes, I'm aware that isn't what it's actually called!) was amazing and you MUST try the Cuban sandwich. This bakery is a 100% must try. This simple Mexican bakery is located on 183B just a few blocks after you cross the Cedar Park Leander city limits. When you enter this establishment you will notice there are no tables or chairs. You will be engulfed with the scent of freshly baked desserts. Off to the right near the cash register you will find large pizza pans with metal thongs. Use these items to pick out the baked goods that you wish to purchase. The best part about these baked gems of goodness is that they are not overly sweet. The unique flavor is each item is allowed to shine through and is not masked. They are a perfect addition to your morning coffee and or the star of the show of any office brunch. Sometimes I crave the pastries that I had as child. This is the place I go to get my fix. Regia's always has a large selection and the items are big. They are almost super sized, honestly they are so well sized you feel a need to share with a friend. You will find chocolate cake, vanilla cake , cookies, empanadas, polvorones, conchas and marranitos, just to name a few of their baked selections. Marranitos happen to be my all time favorite. I normally request my baked goods placed in a nice box rather then a bag. Trust me when you get these home everyone will want to look at each one before making a final decision. Writing this review so others don't make the same dumba** mistake as I did. We love the bolillos here, rather buy from a small business then HEB. However, pulled up, put on my mask, and waited to go inside because in my post-COVID visits there were signs on the door for 1 person in the store at a time. There were about 5 people in the store. that's when I noticed that the sign was no longer on the door, the minivan of the owners was not parked anywhere, the checkout counter was moved, and you could clearly see inside. New Owners.. I decided to wait a min before going inside and just watched everyone.. a worker I'm assuming was a baker came up to the front (apron on and a mask around his neck and started talking to the two ladies at the table (seemed intense) pointing, and looked annoyed.. he eventually went to an iPad (clocked out?) and went in the back. Two people left and I decided to go inside. - The greeting was ok. I'm assuming the older lady is the new owner.. she looked at me as if she was shocked to have a customer come inside. There were no signs on what to do ( the old owners had a sign right when you walked in telling you that they will help you, you just tell them what you want. So I proceeded to walk towards the bread I wanted. A young lady came to help me... WAYYYY TO CLOSE and not wearing her mask properly and said she would help me... I told her what I was looking for and she went over to the case and got the bread. I asked her if it was baked today... ok the only reason I asked this is because since COVID they have been putting the bread in plastic bags.. (grab and go instead of a self serve to mean the bread can stay on the shelves longer. The young lady asked the " owner" if it was baked today and I guess the lady seemed offended by this..whatever. I checked out the girl proceeded to adjust her mask ( not sure if she was wearing gloves) and the young man asked if I wanted to add a tip to my order. I declined... the employee (baker) came back to the front .. mask around his neck. in which he adjusted when he saw me... at that point I just wanted to get out of there. ...... This place needs to work on a few things - No one was wearing their mask properly... I hope they fix this.. besides the fact they are having to adjust their masks when someone walks in there is no doubt they are consistently touching their face and mask. - There was no sign telling you what to do when you come in .. A hard STOP sign needs to be at the door or right when you walk in so that you know what to do. They have sanitizer outside the door ( great!) - This place is small, and im pretty sure I counted 6 people in the front area of the store. Add a few customers and I'm pretty sure they are over capacity which is back at 50% at the moment. - Please be aware of the parking lot...No one noticed that I drove up, so It seemed they were caught off guard when I walked in. -The last thing to the new owners..be a little more friendly. You're going to get all sorts of people coming in due to the area, some who are familiar with these types of pastries and some who are not... don't get easily offended if someone asks a question, even though you are wearing a mask the eyes are telling. I def. won't be back and this visit kinda scared me for risking it for bread, but didnt want to go to HEB and I just hope I didn't catch anything. Also, I'm sad to see the old owners go, a family who was also kind, helpful, and made sure the process was safe when visiting during these crazy times. read more

The theme for dinner this week was Mexican. Making enchiladas and sauce from scratch was going to be very time consuming. What to do for a quick dessert? Yelp search found me a Mexican bakery open on Sunday. A short drive north on 183 and I had dessert. It's a small store in a strip mall. It was packed with customers and of course I was the only gringo there. On the right, when walking in, are six tall stand up cases loaded with assorted pastries. The lady behind the counter called me over. She handed me a silver tray and pointed to where the tongs were hanging. It's a help yourself service. One by one, I opened each case and made my selection. Then I realized the tray was getting heavy. I choose 9 pastries. Back at the checkout counter the lady bagged my goodies. The price was 8 dollars and change. Such a deal! Please don't ask me what I got because I can't pronounce their names. So far, I have tasted 3 different types and they were all delicious. At Regia's Bakery you'll find some of the best baked goods. Their Tres Leche cake is to die for. We moved from NY and were so happy when we finally found this bakery. They got the best baked Tres Leche cake, cupcakes, Italian wedding cookies and more. Martha and her staff are always willing to go beyond your expectations. Honestly I don't know if I can properly rate this location. I can tell you that I really like it and why, but I don't know how it compares to other Mexican Bakeries. This is the first one I have been to. The place is located in a small strip mall a little south of Crystal Falls in Leander. Walking in the door you are immediately greated with that wonderful aroma you get at a good bakery that makes its goods onsite. They have a HUGE selection of pastries and baked goods with origins from south of the border. I really had no idea what most of the stuff was. The young lady working behind the counter was thankfully bi-lingual and more than willing to help out a gringo like me with a selection of goodies. Sam and I picked out a half dozen items that looked apetizing and made our way over to the counter. When the tally was added up, I was shocked to see my total was less than $3. We had a lot of stuff that barely fit in a lunch size paper bag. Everything that I tried from there was really good. Definately will be heading back. Maybe I will even learn what it is that I ate. :) read more

This is a wonderful panadería and I truly love their freshness and customer service. I usually go on weekday mornings and am always met with kindness. I have never had an issue with selection and always find more than enough available. They are always accommodating with my requests if I need to carry the bread in different boxes or pay in separate transactions. All they are missing is a rewards program! read more

Maybe, like me, you love Mexican pan dulce, but don't want to feel like a cultural idiot when making your bakery selections, so you just buy donuts someplace else and pass up a gem like Regia. Me, I was looking for something different to take to a brunch this morning, so googled pan dulce, Cedar Park, and I got Regia Bakery. Went over there this am (they open at 7 even on Sunday, but 9 am they were still pulling fresh yummy goodness out of the ovens, so don't worry. Regia is between Cedar Park city limits and Crystal Falls Parkway, so easy enough to find in nearby Leander. Now, I went in there expecting to need to be able to pronounce polvorone, and orejas, but no need. The nice ladies up front were happy to assist in English or Spanish, and since I didn't have any questions, they just handed me a pizza tray and a tongs, and pointed me to the wall (yes wall) of bakery cases. Empanadas? Check (pineapple, apple, dulce de leche, and pumpkin). Orejas? Of course. Polverones? Absolutely. Little pastries filled with cheese, cherry, apple pineapple, or just plain old croissants, and other non filled sugary treats? Oh yea. They even have "kolache" what you Texans call sausage inside of a pastry. Everything was fresh, and delicious. And cheap? At 80 cents per pastry (and these are big as your hand, I thought it was quite a value. Let's support this local business! Pan Dulce for all! read more

I recently moved further north, and was in need of a pan dulce fix. A trip to Yelp yielded Regia as the closest option. My friend and I stopped in pretty late on a Sunday. Regia has all the great elements of a panaderia - the wonderful smell of the baked goods as you walk in, the pan and tongs to gather your selections, a whole row of huge bakery cases with goodies to choose from, and super cheap prices. We heaped our pan, and only paid around $8. The pan dulce is fantastic. Light, fluffy breads, tasty fillings, and tons of flavor. One of my pan dulce pet peeves is when the "bread" element of each tastes the same - not the case here. You can actually taste the different ingredients, and everything was baked perfectly. I'm so glad to have Regia close by. We will definitely return!! read more

We ordered a Tres Leche cake from here and it was a big hit at our event. We didn't have any leftover and the guests were raving about it.

I ordered a cake to celebrate our 10th wedding anniversary, and although the cake was decorated as we discussed and ready on time, the taste left a lot to be desired. It was supposed to be a white cake with buttercream frosting, and the cake was super dense and tasted more like cornbread than cake, with the frosting too heavy on the butter. A jewel in Leander, Cedar Park!! I am Mexican and have had my share of good 'ol PAN DULCE (Mexican sweet breads) over the years. I tried Regia's conchas, orejones, empanadas, and assorted cookies and they are as authentic as they come!! I first went there on a friend's recommendation and I keep going back. What finally prompted me to write about this bakery was the traditional ROSCA DE REYES that they made this year!!! WOW!!! I have been in Austin for 13+ years and have not had one THIS GOOD. The Rosca had a nice balance of flaky / bouncy (if that makes any sense!) Sweet enough without being overpowering, and was topped off with the actual dried fruit I grew up on in Mexico! While planning a large Halloween party I was excited to try this neighborhood bakery. We love to support local owned businesses and reward them for investing in our community. After being impressed with their extensive selection of Mexican pastries, I began to tell the baker what we were looking for in a cake. Large sheet cake, split chocolate on one side, white cake on the other. Buttercream icing with a Day of the Dead theme. The baker showed me what he would do and I placed the order. This gave them three days to make the cake. My wife picked up the cake just after the scheduled time. She was not aware of what I had planned with the baker. When she brought it home, I was shocked. It looked nothing like what he had drawn out for me. It was very poorly executed and actually had plastic Halloween decorations placed on the cake. It looked like a very low end grocery store cake (but several times the price). I chose not to return back to the bakery because the party was starting and time had run out. Now for the tasting... The icing was indescribable. Cheap, greasy and anything but buttercream. We aren't sure what is was??? The white cake was burned and very dark brown on the bottom. It was dense and chewy. The chocolate side was thin, overcooked and very dry... VERY dry. Having a significant sweet tooth, I was excited to have a quality cake in the house. It was nothing but a disappointment. An expensive disappointment. It's now sitting in the trash outside. My lingering question now is, will the landfill take it? It's that bad... read more

I love this place! The owner is so sweet and friendly. I recommend the strawberry empanada, it was my favorite by far but all the empanadas were amazing. The conchas and cuernos had a different spice in them that makes them unique but still a great take on the classics. When I visited, they had a wide selection for such a small shop and everything was fresh. Will definitely visit again when I am in town. read more
