Well, Awnie's was open and has great reviews, so I went for it. First impressions actually weren't that great. It's a narrow place, and old 30s-50s romantic music set the tone. As I looked at the menu, I noticed that one of the four orders at the next table over was wrong. They accepted it rather than send back, but I took note. Well, I took my chance and ordered spinach and cheese ravioli, based on the waitress saying it's both less food and more popular than the five cheese tortellini - good for my diet! I got it with a side salad to veg up, came with a nice homemade dressing and crispy (not soft) croutons. The ravioli's alfredo sauce has unmatchable homemade quality. This place cares about its food. Unfortunately, and the reason I'm taking off a star, is things seem a little aloof. We had that wrong order come out early. Then two people walked in about 10 minutes before closing and the hostess said "sorry, we're closed" and they walked back out... but apparently she got corrected, went back out after them, and brought them back in because the kitchen doesn't close until the restaurant does! I appreciate that they are willing to own their errors and do right by people, they just need to work on their consistency. And the atmosphere, but maybe that's just my opinion. Not a bad spot overall to have outlived its competition.

The place was cozy, low lighting, and classy casual. Service was professional and kind. The food was delicious! Very generous portions that start with complimentary bread with herb butter. The bread is slightly crispy and salty outside and pillowy soft on the inside. We ordered the crispy Vidalia onion strings, brussel sprouts and split the salmon entree (we had seen it being served and it was HUGE!). The onion strings were fried to perfection with a horseradish creme. The brussel sprouts were tender and flavorful. The salmon came with this slightly sweet sauce, veggie and potatoes. So we'll balanced in flavor, delicious combinations. Highly recommend getting in the reservation list ASAP.

RFD is located in the cutest town with lots of old charm, and I learned there are several historic buildings nearby. I actually didn't realize this place was a restaurant until after we left! For the event, they brought in their own food and completely rearranged all the tables and chairs in the main dining room, so I genuinely thought it was just an awesome event hall. I totally recommend this spot if you live near or in this area!

If nothing else, it's worth stopping in to soak in all the old timey charm and enjoy a piece of Hoosier history. The restaurant function of the space I was a little more iffy on. In concept, I think it's really fun. The antique post office doesn't lend itself to fine dining. And neither did the menu or the staff. But the idea of eating in this unique space is fun. The food, staff, and pricing were all fairly problematic. We got what at best was Olive Garden/Applebees fare at St. Elmo's prices. I say "at best" because I found all the dishes I tried inedible or close to it. I had a Caesar salad, deviled eggs, and the diablo chicken pasta. First, surprisingly, the diablo chicken pasta was spicy! It's rare in Southern Indiana for something labeled spicy to live up to the reputation. But this was Thai-food levels of spicy. Much spicier than Nashville Hot Chicken. This was bring you to Jesus levels of hot sauce. There wasn't much of any chicken in it. So it was just noodles and some kind of sauce that puts Louisiana Hot Sauce to shame. There was a little spattering of parm and some parsley for looks on top. I wasn't offered any additional parm. Had I been prepped for Thai/Indian/Asian levels of spice, I might have been happy with it. But I found it inedible as there was no flavor other than "Ouch!" The caesar salad had no anchovy taste to it, and also lacked any parm. There wasn't even decorative parm. That was weird. It was just romaine lettuce and a watery, Caesar dressing colored mayo sauce with a few croutons. It was at least edible. The deviled eggs were sweeter than skittles. And instead of paprika, they had some type of bbq spice rub liberally sprinkled over them. My mouth wasn't prepared for that and I was so shocked by the flavor that the other people laughed at the unintentional face I made. My son didn't finish his chicken parm either. So I don't think I just lucked out with the wrong choices. My other kid got a steak, and he seemed happy with hit. That might be the one thing to stick to on the menu if you're there. The staff were OK-ish. They had a strange air of being off-put by us, but I'm not sure why. We were friendly, tipped well, and were decently dressed, etc. The manager or owner did come out and ask about the deviled eggs as the eggs went uneaten. I had to admit they weren't to my taste, but I was nice about it. Definitely not somewhere I would try again. But it's an OK stop if you don't mind the prices and are interested in the post office atmosphere.

They gave us what had to be the quietest table in the place and it was perfect for conversation (although I think most tables would have been totally fine). Excellent food - I had the filet - wonderful sear and flavor. Mashed potatoes paired very well with it. Great peanut butter pie to wrap up the night! Everyone else enjoyed their meals as well. Above and beyond service - My original entree turned out to be out of stock. I told them it was no big deal, but they suggested the filet as a substitute, comped it despite it being pricier, and kept the generosity going all night. They obviously hold themselves to a very high standard. Friendly bar - Some of us arrived early and the bar was an awesome place to hang out before our reservation. Giving this 2 stars instead of 1 only because we love SC. [giving this review on behalf of my parents who are not on Yelp] We sat outside on a beautiful evening, and it took 15 minutes for anyone to acknowledge we were there. A server finally noticed us and went ahead took our order while trying to find out who was supposed to take care of us. Things unfortunately failed to go up from there. One of our entrees, a salad, was delivered right away--before our drinks and complimentary bread. The salad also didn't have dressing. The bread was then delivered without the dipping sauce. Our drinks still had not arrived. We had been pointing all of these mishaps out to the server and eventually manager. The manager offered us a free dessert, which, while appreciated, was not what we needed. We needed the bread dipping sauce, our drinks, the other entree and the dressing to the salad. The other entree was delivered, followed by drinks and dipping sauce. No dressing though. I could keep going. The point is, nothing was on par with Stone Creek, Cunningham restaurants...or any restaurant I want in Greenwood. Hoping management can right this one example of a consistent breakdown of the system. I believe it can and will be done! Onward!

The diner is not fancy or upscale, in fact, the side walks could use some love. But the food is fabulous and service is downright friendly. The dining room is filled with about a dozen mismatched tables. The regulars were bantering and watching "The Price is Right" on the tv monitor. The place has a lot of small town character. Our server brought water quickly, took our orders and checked on us several times. The menu is divided into breakfast and lunch and dinner entrees. Breakfast is served until 11:00 a.m. Menu options include an interesting twist on traditional breakfast and lunch items. Eggs are farm fresh, oats are organic and tomatoes are heirloom. Daily specials are listed on a chalk board. Prices are reasonable. I had the Griddled Sourdough BLT which was packed with bacon, lettuce and heirloom tomato. My sandwich was beautiful and tasted great. The hand cut fries tasted delicious. My husband had Bob's Breakfast, a dinner favorite named for one of the dinner's first customers. The plate is a delicious concoction of hashbrowns, topped with two eggs, smothered in sausage gravy. My husband said "it works!" and devoured the entire plate. In a case by the cash register were the most gorgeous cookies that were huge. The cookies are made fresh daily. We took home a Blueberry Cream Cheese Cookie that was probably the best cookie that I've ever tasted. I'm not exaggerating. The cookie was chewy with caramelized edges and lots of flavor from the fresh blueberries. I'll be making regular trips to Morgantown for those dang cookies. The restrooms are a bit tight. I'm guessing a wheelchair could not get through the door. There are a couple picnic tables outside if you want to bring your dog and eat. There is plenty of parking in their private lot. I'll be returning to try the dinner menu. I have to try the Shrimp and Grits.
