Not sure which rock I've been under, but I am just now trying this place. It's a good salad spot that won't break your pockets. I was warned about them stuffing your bowl with an overwhelming amount of greens so I asked for "easy greens" and the portions were perfect! Luckily for me, they cater to all of your additions and substitutes, which made my Greek (not so Greek) salad delicious. Also, the drive through and pick up seems to be pretty time efficient, so that's another plus. read more

Well I just drove across town to the restaurant to get a salad. There was no one in line and all the other restaurants around them were busy. Not a good look. I went to the outside menu board and tried to get someone to take my order. Complete silence. I drove up around to the window and could see someone working. He literally hid from me so he wouldn't have to take my order. Does he not realize no return customers means no job. Well to bad, because this restaurant will be lucky if it's still open in 6 months. I was very skeptical during construction when I saw the name "salad and go". Fast food salads? Umm no thank you. Fast food salads usually suck and aren't very fresh. It wasn't till this week that I decided to give them a try after I was desperately craving a Caesar salad. I came on here and read the reviews and decided to go for it. I heard about this place from others, so I wanted to try it out. I went with the build your own style beef slices, romaine lettuce, corn, green onions and red peppers. If you opt for Bleu Cheese, do yourself a favor and get the crumble that is optional as an add in. I found the salad to be fresh and colorful. The make or break here is the dressing. Found the Bleu cheese to be runny, so hence, the crumble add on was necessary. At best it was Kraft quality. I tried my wifes Asian dressing with her salad and it just tasted weird to me. I think they would have a big hit here if they worked on the dressing, adding more soup options, especially seasonal. Over all not a bad choice for a lunch. I was excited to see this location open. However, this Mesquite location always runs out of something. Tonight they ran out of steak, ranch dressings, avocado slices... and that was just from what I ordered. A few months ago, I went multiple times over the course of 2 weeks and they didn't have forks not one time. They're always apologetic and nice but who is doing inventory and ordering? Cars drove off and left. Great concept but when you get to salad location, you want the salad you came for and at least a fork to eat it with. I tried the tofu Thai Salad and it was large enough to share. The Thai dressing has a hint of ginger, heat and sesame oil. I also tried the unsweetened mango green tea and it was very good. I will definitely go back and try the cucumber mint tea and Cobb salad. The prices are reasonable. Only $6.24 for the salad and under $2 for the drink. I did not enjoy the chicken, which was so finely diced that it almost appeared blended. The limited menu explains the grab-and-go service. The ginger lemon drink I consumed was delicious. The salad could be improved if the lettuce was crisp and clean-tasting, and if the chicken was freshly prepared and cut so that you could tell it was a chicken breast.
