I requested hibachi again because I saw the family of 5 with 4 children waiting at the hibachu table for their chef. I was then told I couldn't sit down because they don't serve guests under 5 years old at the hibachi table. Management and operations needs a lot work. I am not sure how the manager trained their employees and ran the place. But the place is just depressing and nearly empty.We came to celebrate my brothers birthday cause he wanted Hibachi. Our waitng time wasnt long. The place only had two tables filled up. The waiters and chiefs felt like they hate their jobs. The biggest problem is that when it comes to ordering. We have been this retaurunt for the past 10 years. We usually order 4 entree orders for everyone and get sushis. This time we were suprised to hear a mandatory 6 orders must be made for 6 adults. (we had two kids). Thats over $150 plus 18% mandatory tip. Its fine, we came expected to celebrate familys BD, so 8 people is expected for $200. However, money is not the issue. Its our servers attitude and how she handles our concerns. As a trainning manager with years of retail and government experience, I dont understand the thought process of our server. We ask our server why we must order 6 entress for the table. She said its retaurunt rules. Ok, no problem. But then the server asked us if we wanted to speak to the manager. We were just inquiring about the reason, and the serve went straight defensive with " would you like to speak to our manager?". As a STM, the employees are poorly trained handling customer concerns. The biggest issue is that I tried to explain to my mother its their policy. The waitor decide to smart mouth my mother by adding "Yup, what he said. He is right." I made a phone call to Zikis Hibachi in Gburg to inquire about any mandatory order numbers. They said there are no limitations. I was very disappointed and frustrated with Sakura. I got up, told our server this is a waste of our time and left. We went to Zikis afterwards, the place was packed. Felt alive with friendily staff. They made my little brother truly felt happy ok his birthday. There was a completly different atomosphete at Zikis. Suprisingly, the prices were the same,we ordered 5 entress at Zikis anyway with nearly $300 check. I have been to this restaurant numerous times and usually have a good experience. Today was a very different story. We came to the restaurant for lunch to celebrate my daughter's promotion ceremony. The host said we can sit with another group of people which we did. We sit down getting ready to order to when we are told that we have to move to another table. We were told that we had to sit at an empty table and wait for more people to show up. The restaurant was slow and we would just be sitting uncertain amount of time hoping for more people to show up. The customer service today was very poor. I have went back in April with the same amount of people and was able to sit with a grill table of strangers. Dinner Date with my Sister ^_^ We came here on a Saturday night around 8-ish. It was pretty busy, I haven't been to this location in years--I forgot where it was located. We were seated right away, unfortunately the table was pretty packed and we had the last two chairs on the corner. We asked the hostess how long would it be for another table he suggested 20 minutes but we was hungry so we made it work. The server was very nice, I asked her what would she recommend for a drink, she suggested Love Potion #9 (I mean really the name sounds very intriguing haha). The drink was pretty good. She took our order; I ordered Rib Eye Steak (medium) and Chicken hibachi with fried rice and for appetizer I ordered the shrimp. Hibachi comes with soup and salad, I asked for ginger for the dressing on the salad. The ginger was very very salty, I've been to other hibachi places and the ginger wasn't that salty. I couldn't finish the rest because of that. Our chef came and started to cook, the fried rice was delicious; they give you a lot and I was surprised by that. So I decided to give this location a try after years of not eating here because the quality and service went downhill. Let's just say I should've stuck with what I know, Service was pretty basic nothing to be impressed about there. I ordered the filet, chicken and shrimp and here's when I knew I should've went to Kobes or the Sakura in Tysons like I usually do. They no longer give you the full sized shrimp, it was the tiny salad shrimp but my sister had shrimp for her appetizer and they were the full size so I was very confused. When asked about it there was no explanation. I let it slide because we had already invested the time at this point and they were hungry. The food was barely seasoned and there was little to no garlic butter used, only oil. The food was "Meh" and service was "okay". If you aren't a foodie and have not been spoiled by other hibachi spots like I have maybe you'll enjoy the experience but I definitely will not be returning. This is really a 2.5 I've been to this place a couple times and everything seems to be just average. The first time I was there, I had the shrimp teriyaki and a few sushi items. Nothing stood out, but it was a fun time. Just this past Saturday, we went back. My dining companions had stuff from the grill while I stuck with the sushi. I had the following: SALAD w/ONION DRESSING - Tasty EEL NIGIRI - Standard SOFT SHELL CRAB ROLL- The crab was good, but could have been more crunchy and flavorful SHRIMP, CRAB & AVOCADO ROLL - My fave of the bunch. The flavor was good and it had a nice spicy sauce on top. The only issue I had was that the roll was just too damn big. I don't like it when a piece of sushi is way too big. Again, the food is just OK, but it was an overall entertaining night due to the talkative and odd little chef. I gave it a half star more for the good waitstaff. The location is nice and the prices are average for fresh sushi and hibachi. They have Asian beers, full-bar, full sushi bar and several hibachi stations. This place isn't somewhere you could eat every day of the week, but it's great for a memorable night out. Plus, the staff is always super nice. My in laws and I went here Christmas Eve to celebrate dinner. We were all seated promptly as the restaurant really wasn't busy at all. We ordered a few sushi rolls and hot tea since it was FREEZING. The tea was awful. Worst tea I've ever had. I couldn't even drink mine. Our meals were delicious. Most of us got steak. However my sister in law ordered her steak well done and I got mine medium rare. And our chef mixed us up and once he got to mine he said well done yeah? And I said no I got medium rare. Beware. This business began charging a service charge on the bill which is essentially the gratuity. My family is a party of five and only four of us ordered food. I'm used to this practice for parties of six or more. The waitress who turned out to also be the manager didn't even tell us when she handed us the check. Almost tipped them again, until I realize the bill was abnormally high. I didn't get to check if this policy is now printed in their menu but I felt they should have said something, when handing us the bill, since this seems like a new policy. So we have been going to Sakura for years. We are use to the one in Germantown, MD but now the only one near us is in Waldorf. I hate that they use the small shrimp for the entrees and only use the large shrimps for the appetizer. The one in Germantown used the large shrimp for the appetizer and entree. We went there again last night and we were charged a service charge when there was only 3 of us. It was not verbalized that we would be charged the service fee so I'm glad we caught it on our receipt. The charged an 18% service fee so I left no tip. I usually tip at least 20% but I thought it was very sneaky of them to charge the service fee with no warning! read more

I am shocked at the low reviews this place gets. I have been going to this Restaurant for 9 years now. I have never had a bad experience here. I had dinner with my mother and daughter this last weekend AND IT WAS GREAT. It is not a chip place to eat. The skills of the people that prepare your food in front of you is amazing. We have eaten here 3 times now and have yet to be disappointed. We eat in the sushi bar section even though I don't eat sushi. The tempura Veggies are great and everyone who has had the sushi when we have gone has loved it. Lunch time the bento box is a great deal! But I have gotten the steak fillet hibachi style and it is wonderful, not a fan of the onion soup but the ginger salad and fried rice is tasty. The staff is very nice and service is quick, the only downside is the need for renovation. Feels a bit dingy and the tables feel sticky even though they were wiped down. We will defiantly go back, they were even kind enough to let us order from the kids menu for my elderly Mother in Law. She eats so little and hate to waste! read more

OMG!!! Sakura is the shiznit!! Okay, first, I love sushi and so do my children (ages 11 and 13). We've eaten at Sakura about 4 times in the past 3 months. My husband has ordered off of their hibachi menu and says it's very, very good. But, me and the kids get their sushi....yum, yum, yum! I only eat the vegetarian sushi (cucumber, avocado, tamago, kampyo, sweet potato, etc.) and their vegetarian rolls are to die for!! Their ginger salad and miso is also excellent. My kids love their (fish) sushi. They've eaten such a variety, I couldn't even list all of them. Anyway, the servers are always very personable and knowledgeable. The food is served promptly. The restaurant is always clean and presents well. The drinks are cold. What's not to love? Anyway, if you're looking for sushi in the upper Southern Maryland area, you can't go wrong with Sakura. read more

Salt overload. The hibachi chef poured what tasted like gallons of soy sauce on EVERYTHING. The Appetizers are actually mini portions of the stuff you already get with your meal. He was entertaining, though and funny. Too bad my meal was inedible. I didn't realize quite how inedible it was until I got home because we all received to-go boxes and our respective checks before the food on our plates had even cooled off enough to eat. The place was PACKED, though. I guess people in the area go for this stuff? The sake was good. Best part of the night. The sushi also looked good. I wish I had ordered a roll or two instead. Horrible. This place use to be beautiful. Food use to be amazing. I visited yesterday for lunch for the first time in years and I was kinda dumbfounded. The place looked super run down. Not what I use to remember. The chairs were wobbly, the leather had huge holes, all the wood was worn and chipped. DIRTY AS HECK . Dust and food was everywhere. I should have left but my company and I decided to stay to eat. Sighhhhhh.....so I sat down and went to scoot my chair and my hands got stuck to the chair bc it was so sticky. The grill looked old, used and had grease all over it. Food covered the floor. A party of 4 sat at the table with us. When the chef came out, he didn't interact at all. No fancy shrimp throwing or theatrics like they use to do. It was boring. While he was cooking I happen to see something run across the dirty carpet. I began watching and what do I see in broad daylight??? ROACHES, ROACHES , ROACHES. one started crawling up the ladies foot . So I said something. We even pointed the roaches out to the staff. They came out and started stomping on them!! I couldn't eat, it was nasty. I started really looking around and saw just how dirty everything was. This place went down hill horribly. The staff admitted knowing of the infestation and acted like it was normal. I left a message for the health department. Presentation and taste is no where close to the one close to my home in Hackensack NJ. Their specials rolls are same as the regular. Steak - um about ~ 2. Setup and ambiance - 3.
