Spicy salmon & spicy hamachi temaki
Kelly S.

So lovely. Always the most friendly service, quick seating and consistently quality seafood. By my second visit I was a regular. And yes I love that kind of thing, but it speaks to their work that they get the little things right while still nailing the big ones. I am usually a same sashimi gobbler but here, it's all about the Hamachi. Delish. Chill layout and location in the heart of Alameda's Park St shopping and dining strip.

Always great service! They know my usual orders with the hot sake. Sashimi is always fresh!

*Open for indoor dining* Have come here quite a few times and this place wasn't bad at first. Was a little disappointed by my most recent visit. Service and staff: - The service here is good - staff is kind, accommodating, and gets orders out as soon as possible - Staff don't wear masks Food: - Golden Roll: this roll was not the best. I'm not sure if it was the differing temperatures between the ingredients - 49ers Roll: this roll isn't bad. This is one I typically get and is filling - Sakura Roll: this roll is good, but a bit difficult to eat due to the texture of the peeled cucumber, causing the fish to fall out - Side salad: this salad is tasty with the miso dressing Miscellaneous: - Street parking is available - The menu has many, many typos. In the "futo" roll, one of the ingredients listed is "oshiko", which means pee in Japanese. This should say "oshinko", which means pickled radish in Japanese, and is what is in the roll. - Overall, the hometown feel of this restaurant keeps us coming back to support. In regards to quality of fish and the menu, it's so-so

This place is still the best sushi in town. Yelp app is jacked up so the only way I can post pics is via the web and posting a review

Nice spot, staff was friendly and food was bomb.com. Cozy little vibe, got salmon lover rose and crunch monkey. Gyozas best I've had on the island

We've been coming to Sakura for years now, and it's as excellent as ever. Fresh, delicious, reasonably-priced sushi in a friendly environment. Michelle the hostess is lovely, and always takes great care of us. IMO this is probably the best sushi spot in Alameda for the price point.

Back again in Alameda CA! We came in late, about 8:30 after freezing while watching youth baseball. The staff was nice and let us warm up before ordering. I had some tea and hot Sake, that will warm you up! We went to eat at Sakura with regular diners and they literally ordered by the numbers 24, 34, Shrimp Tempura, etc. I had no clue what was coming to the table. I was ok with that, I had my Sake. We ordered Seafood udon and shared with the table. The food was good, warm and delicious. The staff was friendly and the sushi came to the table quickly. We'll definitely be back and let our friends order by the number again.

Sushi was okay, not the best ever definitely had better. I came in at lunch time only two other parties were there and the service was pretty bad. They just never come back to check and see if you need anything else. We had to call the waitress 3 times just to order additional items. Ordered calamari as an appetizer it wasn't at all what I expected. This I would definitely never have again or recommend to anyone. The Kamikaze roll was good it seemed fresh. I liked this place because it's small and cozy. I wouldn't say that I wouldn't come here again but it's definitely not up there as one of my top choices. If you are in the area and want decent sushi on the fly then maybe this is a good stop.

Oyakodon and katsudon! It comes with miso soup and salad (not pictured) each.

A pretty nice spot for Japanese food. It should be noted that most Japanese restaurants are closed on Sunday, so my friend and I managed to find Sakura opened. I didn't get their sushi, but from their donburi, it was pretty decent. My friend got a katsudon and I got an oyakodon, both with extra eggs ($1 extra), both included miso soup and a small dish of salad. The total came out to around $22 with tax, so not too bad of a price. I would say that it's pretty decent from what I ate, and I would probably stop by again if I want some Japanese food on a Sunday.

I love the ease of their grab-and-go fridge which is always well stocked at most times of the day. You can't go wrong with anything on their menu I switch out my rolls every so often and have tried most of their items. The cashiers working are always friendly and love their good quality chopsticks for togo (I save them). The location itself is small and parking can be tricky depending on the day but I usually find street parking and quickly run in. It's super convenient and the line never takes long to wait in either. My go-to's are the negihama and salmon aburi. Never disappoints - definitely add this to your Oakland/East Bay foodie list. There was a line, but because there is no seating, service was quick! It was hard to choose from all of the delicious looking choices, but I went with the spicy tuna ($8.99). It was simple, fresh and really tasty. The subtle heat allowed for the mild sweetness of the tuna to come through, and the texture of the seaweed and rice were perfect. There is also a nice selection of Japanese snacks and beverages to add to your meal, and the prices were all very reasonable. If you live in the area or just visiting Piedmont Ave., I highly recommend Ebiko for very fresh, healthy, and delicious grab-and-go sushi!

Their restaurant philosophy is to provide an optimal dining experience with fresh ingredients and a simple menu that spotlights their strength. Since they are only open for lunch on Thursdays and Fridays for weekdays, I made a plan to come here on one of those Thursdays. Having scouted through Yelp (like a true Elite does), I was all set to order my Bara Chirashi ($24) which is cubed slices of mixed sashimi and ikura over a bed of rice. It was beautifully made and took an appropriate amount of time since it was made to order. Very delightful and something that I would order again, but definitely eyeing the Best Catch Box ($29) next time for their beautiful presentation of negatory, uni, scallops, ikura (take a look at the Yelp photos if you haven't!). I originally wanted to get a hand roll or two but ended up impulse ordering the Matcha Affogato ($6). It was a surprising yet very well thought out combination of Strawberry Pop Tart Ice Cream (right???) with well prepared matcha poured over. Service was polite but not overbearing and there were a few other people also indulging in an elevated lunch experience. All in all, so thrilled to have tried it; will be back again, and think that it's a must-try place within the Oakland area!

Then we had the brotherhood with Hamachi, also delicious. We couldn't decide which we liked more, both were really flavorful, compact and great on their own and with wasabi, soy sauce and ginger. Lastly, we got some Miso soups, which were some of the freshest tasting Miso soups I have ever had. Everyone was very helpful, friendly, checked in with us and chatted with us when it wasn't busy. People around us were having a good time and the vibe was relaxed. Even the people next to us, started to chat with us a little because they loved their sushi and wanted to know more about what we ordered. Will certainly be back!

This is strictly a review for the ramen and udon! Tonkotsu ramen was pretty good! It was savory without being too overpoweringly salty, had two pieces of tender chashu (which is rare in this economy), and the noodles had a nice bite to it. Once you walk into the restaurant, there's indoor and outdoor seating available. The outdoor seating is covered by a patio, and on colder days, I'm assuming they will put a heater out there? I'm not too sure, since I don't actually eat outside often. Indoor is well lit up, and has a decent amount of seating. The biggest table I have seen seats around 6 people, but can be more if you have small children I suppose. We mostly order the rolls here, and to be fair, it's a decent pricing. However, it is a hit or miss. 1. Lion King - Decent. Taste all the same everywhere you go if you ask me. 2. Deep Fried Spicy Tuna - Must have, definitely my favorite. 3. Golden Gate - More on the saucy side with imitation crab meat, it's basic. 4. Dragon Roll - Again, same anywhere you go. 5. Double Salmon Roll - Salmon on the inside, salmon on the outside. Cheaper alternative than to just getting nigiri or salmon sashimi. The customer service here is not the best in my opinion. The first time we took a friend there for his birthday, and it was terrible. The host, waiter/server, and manager disregarded us. However, a table next to us got the friendliest treatment. The type of treatment you give when you expect them to come back so you can address them by their name. The second time we've been here, the customer service was basic. No expectations, just take your order, serve, and a simple question of how is everything. Honestly, customer service could have been much more reasonable at even the most basic level. Overall, the food is ok. I wouldn't say it's like the best, but if you're here for lunch or a quick bite, it's fine.

Fun and delicious…read more Vietnamese food is at the top when it comes to bright and refreshing bites, and Bacogai embodies that with a modern atmosphere as well as some tasty dishes. The duck salad was a hit. Citrus, some fish sauce. A great way to open up your appetite. The wings also had a bit of fish sauce funkiness on their glaze, and were juicy and crispy. The shaking beef with the with the rice noodles and lettuce was also a crowd-pleaser. The beef was tender and flavorful. We tried two hot pot flavors: sweet and sour and the pork bone broth. I preferred the sweet and sour one with the fish, prawns, and lots of interesting veggies like okra and the bac-ha which was fanstastic at soaking up the broth. I found the pork one a bit gamey, and the pork being already in the hot-pot was not super tender. Service was friendly and generally attentive. Definitely worth checking out for a date or a group dinner.

The beef luc lac, which is sort of like shaking beef over vermicelli and lettuce is also excellent. It's better this way. Try it. Saturday was unusual in that they were short staffed and almost at capacity. The food and service did not suffer. Oysters on the half shell were fresh. Yall know that's my favorite and I'll never tell no lies ! The sauce they put on it was a nice touch and not overbearing the fresh oyster taste ! Tempura has a nice crispy batter and the prawns were plump not skimpy or chewy . I also got the Santa Barbara hand roll because I really wanted uni but they don't sell uni as an appetizer. But the star of the show for me was the SPICY LION KING ROLL . I've had plenty of lion king rolls throughout the years but never had a spicy one and it was bomb . I think what makes it spicy is the sauce they use . Wasn't too hot just an extra little kick to everything going on .
