This was a great value and a fantastic time. The sushi there is very fresh and since the sushi bar is part of the buffet they are always refilling and replacing fresh sushi. I can talk about sushi all day and how the sauce bar on the right had everything from spicy mayo to teriyaki sauce but that would do a injustice to the hot food they serve as well. The seafood selection was pretty good and the fresh oysters were my favorite. I personally loved the chicken and broccoli. Overall I had a very positive experience and plan on coming back! Probably my last time visiting Sakura today for lunch. We brought grandma and babysitter for a holiday lunch with the family. Though AYCE buffet is a bit of a waste on our light eating family, the convenience and variety was what we wanted. The food quality is off somehow. Starting with three types of chicken, it was all tough and chewy. Normally sesame chicken is tender, but today I was chewing on it like rubber. The fried rice had corn in it and had an unusual taste. Many of the dishes seem to have an unusual taste. The sushi is made with poor ingredients, thus all of the sauces and trickery (seasoning and spicy sauce ;) The salmon was excellent but in short supply, the plate emptying instantly each time salmon was offered and then 20 minutes before salmon was offered again. Being light eaters, and horrified at how the adjoining tables's eaters were shoveling food, we didn't expect to get a bill with them charging me full price for my 10 year old! I called attention to this, especially because he didn't like the food and only ate two chicken skewers and an ice cream. They took him up to measure him and told me he is 5'. I just measured him and he is a full three quarters of an inch under 5'. I found it very petty and cheap of them to up charge my 10 year old to an adult when he barely ate anything, and them arguing over it his height. I didn't bother to go with them to check, not wanting to be petty like the manager. I just paid, tipped the wait staff, and left not to return. Overall, the variety is great, quality is good with sub-standard ingredients, chicken cooked like rubber, and an off-taste in many dishes. Discount or not, I won't be back. That's the problem with AYCE restaurants. While they probably lost money on the next table, they certainly made it back on us. read more

Ok went to Sakura today, they are still imposing COVID restriction requiring face masks and now you have to wear gloves while at the buffet, even though all restrictions are lifted fine. Saw their grand opening a few weeks back and figured I'd try it out as it's very close to where I live. I love sushi and my bf loves Chinese food so we were hoping this would become a "go-to" quick meal at a good value. We stopped in last week and met our friends and my sister. The sushi selection was vast, though mostly depleted as we came at 2:50p (mind you, they close between lunch and dinner, seating the the last guests at 3p before opening again at 5p for dinner). They did end up refilling a few of the rolls while we were there, which was nice. I'm not a huge fan of the Chinese cuisine but all of the usual suspects were available, including some other fusion salads and Kim Chi. There was also a good dessert selection (cookies, cake, pudding). Why 3 stars? The food just wasn't very good. It was ok. It wasn't repulsive. But it just wasn't very good. No one at the table was wow'd by anything, and in fact we only got seconds of some of the sushi rolls and even at that we didn't love the sushi. The kim chi was one of the worst ones I've had in a long while. While the food wasn't the best, you can't beat the price and convenience of getting your own food at your own pace. Other AYCE places you order and the food is delivered to you and you have to wait, but the quality is better. I would say it depends which aspect of dining you value. With that said, I would stick to lunch and not pay the dinner price (unless you eat a lot of seafood, and at that I'm not sure how generous they are with the quantity available). Would I come again? Maybe. I think there are other local spots I'd go to first before coming back here but by no means is Sakura repulsive and my experience wasn't terrible. read more

I didn't take any photos but the place is really cool & trendy! The inside looks brand new & the decor is gorgeous. Lots of options & LOTS of seafood for you seafood lovers!! The dinning room was nice looking and the place was clean. The food was just mediocre at best to meh. Overall it was very dissappointing and I would never come back here again. They had some Salmon and one other fish for sashimi out there that was fresh and enjoyable to eat. However, when it came to the hot food stations everything I tried was lukewarm to cold and the meat items were chewy, overcooked and not enjoyable to eat. I did not go back for seconds for anything. I was not crazy about their dessert station as well. Great all you can eat, but I think the prices are a little high. Good variety of sushi, including sashimi (salmons my favorite), niguiri (ikuras my favorite), and rolls. They also have oysters but the times I've been they didn't taste or smell fresh. Crab legs are okay. Great variety of cooked food as well. Wish they had lobster on more days and that it was plain instead of with a very strong garlic sauce. Staff is nice and sushi chefs are very attentive. Ok, this one's tricky. We stopped here a week or so ago. The place has a very nice decor, friendly service, and as you can see from the pictures, a strong variety of choices particularly when it comes to sushi. So why the three stars? Well, for starters we happened to go on a Sunday and skimmed the prices posting on the door a bit too quickly or we honestly would've gone with a more sensible option. Also, and more importantly... the quality of the food just didn't match up to the prices. Presentation was pretty good, but at least from the one time we went here while passing through, our impression as a group was not that anyone would leave here thinking, "That was some really good, fresh sushi." Average-level buffet quality at a premium buffet price. Believe me, we've been to sushi/Asian buffets. This place is above average in its variety, and I would say more than above average in its decor and presentation, but in the end the food and the price just don't match and there are better buffet options out there. I really can't recommend this place, but I still give it three stars (2.5 if I could). The food here isn't bad, clean facilities, very nice decor, and friendly service. Saw that this place was finally open and decided to stop in for lunch on a Thursday. Sakura is your kinda typical Japanese chinese buffet restaurant. Walking in, it's got a clean modern minimalist decor style which was nice. However all the hard surfaces meant the restaurant is LOUD. Packed for lunch on a Thursday...good sign. Sitting down, the table was a bit sticky, and when I started to get food I noticed that many of the plates on the line where dirty. At least 30% of them sitting on the stacks had bit of dried food stuck to them. Yuck, makes me question the cleanliness in general in the back of house. It's main feature seems to be the sushi area which absolutely dominates the buffet line in terms of square footage. It's got a wide selection of various rolls and sashimi and raw bar. The quality of everything seemed ok, acceptable for the price point. However during the busy lunch rush a majority of the trays of sushi seemed to be empty all of the time, which was kind of annoying. Hot food wise, mostly Chinese food and a decent variety. Most of it was pretty decent when it came to taste. However the little pork rib in sauce was gross! Super vinegary and mush like it was boiled for way too long. Really limited fruit and dessert area, very few selections. Store bought cakes that tasted old and cut fresh fruit...which wasn't ripe. Now ice cream: you had a choice of chocolate ice cream in a prepackaged cup or a fudge bar. Pretty sure both of these came from the Walmart next door. Not impressed. Japanese buffet restaurants should have green tea and red bean ice cream...or at least a soft serve machine. At $14 for lunch it's not a bad terrible to reach food coma status, but I won't be back. Other typical Chinese buffet restaurant in the area have wider selection and a cheaper price. read more

They did good I was at Sakura Buffet for dinner today as my friend. My focus was with friends and not on the restaurant, so this is an inattentive review. The decoration design here is very special .Someone was right there taking drink orders. I headed to the buffet, finding a large variety of items.I love seafood, there are too many choices, rolls, sushi, sashimi, cooked food, beef, my stomach has no space for me to eat all the food.What I tried was good, loading up two plates worth plus dessert. Used plates were picked up without notice and drinks were promptly refilled. I had the exact amount in cash that I wanted to pay, so paying at the table was very easy. I believe the process for everyone, including those with credit cards, went smoothly. Hats off to whoever was taking care of us for a job well done. Ordered dinner delivery from here. Got 4 rolls and two orders of the tofu skin sushi. I don't claim to know a ton about sushi, however I have never received gray (???) eel on top of my sushi or tofu skin sushi that has a massive mound of fake seaweed salad in it (and also it's not a roll...it's a piece of cold tofu skin stuffed with white rice and the aforementioned seaweed". For $50 worth of sushi it filled one large container and one small one. Ridiculous. Will not order again. read more

Sakura is probably the best sushi buffet I've been to in NJ. The restaurant is enormous and so is their food variety. They have a dozen or so sushi rolls, more than half a dozen sashimi, all sorts of Japanese side dishes, Chinese entree's, dimsum, soup, and dessert. Check their website or flyers for good deals to save some money, but if you come hungry, you'll get a hefty meal for a reasonable buffet price. The waitresses are very nice and responsive. They'll clear dishes quickly and get you whatever you need. I knew this buffet was generous when I saw an entire lobster cooked in a creamy ginger sauce. Their sushi is standard to most restaurants in NJ. You'll find your tuna, salmon, cream cheese, etc. They have some special sashimi, but they vary what they serve each day. Horrible service! Rude and nasty waitress! There's a 90 minute time limit and after 20 minutes of being there, haven't even had dessert yet, she places the check on the table. She kept coming back to see if we paid and that's all she cared about and never asked if we needed anything like drink refills. If we asked her for anything, she would have an attitude about it. For the price of 2-3 maki rolls at other Japanese restaurants, you can sample sushi & maki, salads (crab salad, jelly fish, wood ear, pickled daikon, etc.), many types of hot foods (dim sum, pepper salt shrimp, chicken, roast duck, seafood, etc.) and dessert (jelly, cut fruits, ice cream, cakes, etc.). The sushi (thin & flavorless slivers of fish) and maki rolls (too much rice & too little fish, not so fresh fried rolls) were so-so. However, the variety and taste of the salads & hot foods make up for the less stellar sushi. So, if you plan to have some raw & some cooked food, you will like this dining experience. However, if you only plan to pig out on the raw food, it may be less worthwhile. read more

The best buffet in the area. It's super clean and the food is delicious. There is a lot to choose from and a wide variety of sushi. It isn't the best sushi, but it's still good. I wouldn't recommend coming here for dinner since it's so expensive, but definitely worth trying for lunch. The bathrooms are also spotless which says a lot to me. If I can categorize the rating I would give the spread of food a 4 star because there's lots of choices and it's not the cheap kind of dishes and it taste good. Also, if you are into sushi and sashimi it's fresh and good. Plus the price is very reasonable. The second category is cleanliness and the reason why it's a 2 star. We are very particular on cleanliness from the utensils, cups, plates, bowls, glasses and the floor. We dined there at least 5 times, and we had table where the floor felt very greasy or something that's made it very slippery. The last straw was our recent visit when my husband finished his soup he found the cardboard lid of their ice cream dessert at the bottom of the soup bowl. How it got made us cringe. I'm a big sushi lover. I went to Sakura Sushi & Grill Seafood Buffet last week with several friends for the first time. Sakura is definitely the highest quality sushi buffet in town. I can't say enough good things about this restaurant. Their sushi quality is over the top and everything is so fresh and well prepared. I can literally eat there several times a week! We all love it. You can't go wrong with this place. The service is amazing and staffs are friendly and respectful. Price is great and you will leave there with happy and full belly. It's so hard to find a healthy, fresh and world class quality restaurant with reasonable price, but Sakura definitely has the whole package. I am sure I will go back soon. Highly recommended!!! I've heard mixed things about this place, but I ended up decided I should try this place out myself. The ambiance is nice with, nice high black ceilings. The staff is super friendly, and filled up our drinks. The food though I thought was not good. All the meats tasted slightly undercooked. The vegetarian items were okay, such as the edamame, but nothing special. The sesame chicken was smushed with ketchup. It tasted like they just poured ketchup on the chicken. They have a large menu in the buffet here, with great selection. The sushi tasted okay, but tasted kind of like sushi I would get at the supermarket in a hurry.. We were there dinner time on 8/21, we are 6 people (4 adults and two kids), the girl and my husband had an argument about my daughter's height, 4 feet or over, and I said :that is fine , you charge me 5 feet price! She still felt unhappy,she said: I don't care about your business, you go other places! Finally we left! It broke my daughter heart , she felt upset that night. This is probably one of the nicer places if you want decent sushi. The reason for my 2 stars is due to cleanliness. I have been here many times, and have always known that the cleaning was not always the best. The final straw was when one of the soup cups had a ice cream cap sticking to it. It was even stacked in the middle pile. So my concern is that the dishwashers are not really being attentive in cleaning. Sure, we could've really examined before using. But when you're at a AYCE buffet, especially when there are a lot of people, are yiu always on top of that? I don't think customers should have to worry about such things. People ask me how I critique restaurants with different geolocation, service, ambiance, value, food quality, etc. I often give them a simple answer: my four KPIs. However, there are times when there's a discrepancy between my personal feel vs the results of the KPI. The key here is that there are obviously more than four things we measure when we rate a restaurant, but we often narrow the scope for simplicity. Sakura buffet is one of those. The place has a wide range of selection for Japanese and Chinese cuisine where everyone should find themselves in a good position with something that he/she will like. On one hand, I liked the wide range of selections available and all the fresh fruits served. On the other hand, quality was not excellent. Considering the mid-low price range and its location (no-competition), I believe it falls right in the middle of things with no extreme comments (positive or negative). Not a place I would return regularly, but it's worth a try for those who want to find a place for a large group and everybody has a different taste. read more

Alrighty....so this could be a coincidence but I don't think it is. They have lunch specials listed on the window and at the counter that indicate special pricing. Each time I go in at lunch, they charge me dinner prices. I don't have anyone to go in on my behalf to see if they would charge them the dinner price which is $6 more. But I get the feeling there is a racial bias. I won't be going g there anymore. Usually I have something a little funny to say. I like to keep it lite but not today. This has happened every single time I go during lunch. It never fails and I come often with the idea that maybe it would actually be a lunch price. I think up until this point I was feeding a curiosity but it's settled. I need someone who is not Asian to go in at lunchtime and tell me if they charge a lunch price or if they raise it to the dinner price for some obscure reason. read more

This restaurant sucks because at the time I came which is 8.30 pm and when we started to eat almost all the food was empty and they did not refill it and at that day they closed at 10.30 pm all that left was the bone from the fish and empty tray.
