Live very close to this place, before they opened, i was so happy that finally there is a "high end" Japanese sushi place. When they opened, I invited my family and friends to this restaurant for my daughter' birthday. Wow, what a major disappointment. I don't know ever where to start....with such high price per person, I was expecting "everything". Another thing is that they have such nice picture of king crab legs on the window of the store, but inside serve snow crab legs, but those crab legs they provide is thinner than my pinky. Definitely a hard avoid until after CoVID. I was a fan of this place prior to CoVID. On the positive side, masks and disposable gloves were required when going to the buffet. However, the buffet was more than half empty and what was available, wasn't fresh and was barely warm. My partner and I are relatively picky eaters and we're preparing for a trip to Japan. We thought this buffet would be an excellent way for us to dip our toes in the sea of Japanese dining tradition. I'll be direct: if you're looking for quality, look elsewhere. If you want to really fill up on mediocre sushi for the lowest possible cost, this place is for you. We loved: - The Tea. It's a genmaicha (green tea with toasted rice) that packs a punch of flavor. It's $1.50 a person but well worth it, since you get unlimited refills with a carafe that your waiter will circulate with every so often. - The Desserts. The mousses and custards they keep in the refrigerated cases are divine and I could probably make a meal solely from their little square layer cakes, which on the date of our visit were strawberry and mango flavors. - The Cleanliness. This place is pristine. There are hand sanitation stations every few feet, and you can tell that they value keeping the place clean. Not so keen on: - Some of the labels were missing or incorrect. A dish labeled "Grilled Lotus Root" was actually grilled frogs legs, which my less-adventurous partner took pains to hide from his plate once he discovered the truth (they indicate that they will charge you for uneaten food). He also wouldn't eat anything the frogs legs had touched on his plate. - Dim Sum bar options were overcooked and soggy. This happens with steaming at times, but I love dumplings to an unnatural level (see my other reviews) and even I didn't go back for seconds. - The sushi was mushy and bland. I mostly go in for vegetarian maki options, so I've had good versions before. Everything that had avocado in it was a mushy texture with no flavor. Same with the california rolls. Same with the few rolls I tried with shrimp. There seemed to be no reason to eat one roll instead of another since they all tasted almost exactly the same. - The hot foods were not hot. Most were luke warm. Some were down right cold. Meh: Seems more like a chinese buffet with Sushi available. There is not an astounding amount of actual japanese food. The price is pretty high if you're not all that interested in fish and just want to try a little of everything. We wouldn't go back, but will instead try to expand our pallets by going to more focused restaurants with friends and trying their suggestions. read more

Now they have very limited selections and most of food doesn't get refill so it's sitting there getting over cook. Like the Zen garden by the front entrance and food selection Is great, kids like their hibachi fried rice and some simple sushi rolls and I stick with the raw bar, oyster and snow crab leg. We had a toddler with us less than 3 years old and we paid 1/4 of price for him, but they didn't even bring a water for him when we asked for water for the whole table, and didn't give us a high chair, when we asked for a soda for him, they gave him a cup without a lid an charged for $2, I guess they don't have a special cup for little kids? The food is very good and there is a plethora of choices. The sushi is always being made fresh and if something runs out without the staff knowing you can just feel free to ask when it will be coming back out. The food generally has a little card explaining what it is and what is in it, so you're not flying blind. Their food taste ok, but as usual, buffet restaurant tend to make their food super salty. Some dishes I feel like I'm just eating straight up salt. 95% of the time their lobster tray is empty. You have to be really really lucky to get some of their lobsters. I don't eat raw food but according to my friends their octopus is ok, salmon is ok, but oyster is really really not fresh so do no eat their oyster. Same problems as the last buffet restaurant in the same location. The sushi rolls are very small, and good luck finding them -- so many sushi plates on the buffet were empty. The sashimi cuts are decent, but on two occasions, tables of greedy customers swooped in and snatched the full plates of sashimi for their party as soon as it was out on the buffet. I wanted to try this new place after reading the reviews but was somewhat disappointed. We arrived around 6ish and found the place to be quite empty. The sushi selection was good with a lot of varieties, limited sashimi which was average. The cold shrimp was good as compared to the cooked shrimp dishes. The hot food section was less desirable, the teriyaki beef was too well done, the other steak selection was mediocre. The majority of the hot food items were unappealing which I believe was sitting around for a while. The only good hot food dishes were the flounder and cod. Dessert section was average, nothing to write home about. The one disappointing thing was when the worker was refilling the melon and pineapple dishes, she was transferring the left overs from the old dish to the new one, a few pieces fell on the bed if ice keeping the food cold, she simply pick those pieces up and put it back on the tray - yikes, I wished she had discarded those pieces.
