I decided to try this place for a weekday lunch. This seems to be one of the spots catered to the FiDi workers. It does seem to reflect Cava vibes which is great since there are no Cava in the Bay area. Basically they have many different ingredients where you can customize your Mediterranean bowl. I got the steak shawarma rice bowl which the worker assembled pretty fast. There wasn't too much rice and had salad greens mixed in. I actually preferred this as it made lunch feel not as heavy going back to work. There was a good amount of meat and the sauce added the right amount of flavor. The veggies were a nice crunch and complemented the bowl nicely. There was an alleyway next to the place where people were sitting and enjoying the sunny day. I love to try a little bit of everything, and you get so many fresh topping choices to go along with quality meat or falafel options. This is my go to place for lunch in the Fi di, not just b/c it is close, but b/c I know I will be full, I know I will be satisfied, and I know it will be a healthy meal! If you are into a colorful and diverse photo op meal, this checks the box as well. The staff is fast, the restaurant is clean, there is indoor and outdoor seating. Self serve water is available. You can also order online to have it ready when you get there. If lentil soup is your thing or if free things are your thing, you can also get a free lentil soup with your meal. Favs include eggplant, cauliflower, chickpeas, pickles, garlic hummus, and baba ganoush. The choices can seem overwhelming. Gosh, I absolutely LOVE Sajj. It is so quick, perfect when you're in a rush, but still want something yummy and healthy. Think mediterranean-style Chipotle. I love the chicken shawafel or pomegranate chicken bowl. Every single topping on there is a perfect fit. I usually get all the spreads and can't choose a favorite. You can't go wrong with the toppings, but I usually add the sumac cauliflower, onions, cucumbers, cherry peppers, arugula, and mint leaves, finished off with either the spicy tahini or cilantro mint chutney. I know some people love the lentil soup. The baklava is so flaky and nutty. Most of the locations I've been to are clean and nicely decorated. The staff is helpful and pack on the toppings on your bowl. I absolutely LOVE Sajj, I even have a loyalty/newsletter (which I almost never do). Definitely recommend. read more

Treat yourself to an amazing, fat and juicy falafel wrap full of all kinds of goodness at Sajj. I've been going around the city in search of a lavash falafel wrap, and while the ones at North beach gyros, pharaoh's and others have been quite good (and you can't go wrong with the pita ones at sababa down the street from here), Sajj truly fulfilled my craving. I opted for the Sajj wrap and went half hummus-half tzatziki, fantastic decision making on my part. I then said 'everything please' to the toppings they offered, and they toasted it in some foil for me (I might ask for extra toasted next time for it to be even hotter). The red and green sauces are delightful, perhaps the red one is a tad too salty, I've preferred spicy sauces at other Mediterranean places more. If I were to describe Sajj Mediterranean in three words it would have to be fresh, aromatic, and rejuvenating! I know that rejuvenating might be a strange word to describe food with but hear me out. After I have a super filling meal, that dreadful food coma feeling sets in immediately and it makes me want to laze around, but after my friends and I tried two different entrees, lentil soup, and hella pita bread we were still ready to run around the city. Not only was the food rejuvenating, it was packed with vegetables sourced from around the bay area. It wasn't until the end of our meal that I noticed the big sign that showed which cities in the bay they get each of their ingredients from. Any entree you get will literally come with your serving of vegetables for the day, maybe even three days. You can choose from so many different options like eggplant, chickpeas, pickles, avocado, tomatoes, cauliflower, slaw, beets, and soooo many more things. I let the manager build our plates for us! We got a vegan plate that came with falafel, diced pickles, hummus, arugula + balsamic dressing, rice, cauliflower, eggplant, chickpeas, tomatoes, and tahini to pour over top. We also got the steak shawarma with hummus, tzatziki, arugula + balsamic dressing, and rice. Also, let me tell you that everything was seasoned with the heart, not a damn measuring spoon. Every single component tasted as if it was seasoned separately so that it created layers upon layers of flavor and gave it so many different levels of depth. I could legit eat their falafel all day long as long as it was served with their piping hot and soft pita bread + garlic sauce (toum). We all fell so hard for the toum that we took home a 16oz tub of it. We got it on Monday and it was finished by Wednesday. What made their toum so unique though is the fact that aside from the typical seasonings, garlic, oil, and lemon, they add potatoes. It gives it almost a mashed potato consistency and it is to die for. Literally found ourselves putting it on everything from banh mi to breakfast sandwiches, such a good addition. Our experience at Sajj Mediterranean could not have been better. The staff, specifically Zenen, were so accommodating and ready to host us and provide us with whatever we needed to be comfortable and happy. Great amount of food for $12, including tax! I usually get their falafel salad and add on a bunch of toppings, such as chickpeas, eggplant, tomatoes, hummus, cherry peppers, and more. Not only is the bowl a bit more filling and bigger than some other Mediterranean bowls, it also comes with a lentil soup. The soup itself is very flavorful. The only downside I've experienced is that some of the toppings can be watery at times, which messes up the bowl, especially if there isn't the grains to absorb the excess liquid. The flavors are present, but with the water (such as a scoop of chickpeas and some of the liquids go right into the bowl), it dilutes the flavor. It can be a bit difficult to mix everything together (I usually use the hummus and the tahini as "dressing"), but it's still good. The falafel is fresh, crispy, large. Goes very well with the hummus or by itself. The scoop of hummus as the topping is generous, compared to another place that advertises a hummus bowl that actually doesn't include as much hummus I thought it'd include. So happy that Sajj opened a Fidi location. I went about a week or two after they opened this location. I've been to the Mountain View one prior and have had catering a handful of times from their 2nd Street location. Online ordering was easy and so I made the trek to the restaurant. Just like with the Mountain View location they had a free bag of their awesome fresh homemade crisp AF pita chips with Yelp check in. The guy was even sweet enough to ask me what dipping sauce I want and hooked it up with two. I got a half rice half greens chicken shawarma bowl. Same great taste, same huge portions, fresh ingredients and healthy enough. I like how Sajj has been consistent between locations and catering. It's a great addition to FiDi. read more
