    Lamb Shawarma
    Alan S.

Before I mentions any food, I must start with our waiter "Sam." The service and kindness he treated us with, despite the fact that this was our first time ever at this restaurant, was unbelievably great. You rarely meet this kind of service , and we do a lot of dining and eating outside. We feel obligated to give this kind man his due credit. The food was fantastic. The fish "masgoof" was beyond our expectations, the kebab was melting in our mouths, and the lamb shawarma "Guss" was straight from the Baghdad. A special thank you to uncle Abu Ibrahim for the authentic Iraqi tea A great experience indeed

    Decor
    Mehruba A.

I want to start by saying the decor transports me to the Emirates and reminds me of the beauty of the Oud stores. It's very elegant and a great place to have a gathering with friends and family. It's not a fine dining establishment but they could have easily taken that route if they wanted. I went with a few friends and we ordered the chicken shawarma with hummus, fattoush with chicken tikka on top, and an Iraqi kabob. I asked the waitress if the Iraqi kabob was made with beef and she assured me it was. My friends both receieved their food about 15 mins later, and mine arrived about 20 mins in. Both of their dishes were pretty good, although the chicken shawarma was a tad dry in my opinion. When I finally tasted my dish, I immediately knew that the Iraqi kabob was not only beef, but mixed ground beef and lamb. It took a while for our waitress to return to check on us, but I let her know I didn't like my dish and I could taste the gamey-ness from the lamb. She started to argue with me that it didn't have any lamb. After going back and forth a few times, she goes to find the owner and doesn't return for about 10 mins. By then both my friends had finished eating. She then stated how the "recipe had changed 3 days ago" and she wasn't aware that the new recipe did use both lamb and beef. I highly doubt that's what actually happened but I didn't feel like arguing with her so I requested for the dish to be removed from my tab and I sent it back. I was put off by the experience so I didn't order anything else on the menu.

    Order confirmation.

Where do I even begin. I went online and placed an order through their website making the pickup time at 5pm. A family member of mine arrived a little early to pick up my order, maybe 10-15 minutes early. When they asked the cashier about my order she told them that it won't be put through to the kitchen until 5pm. Mind you the website said several times that this was a pickup time, and that my order would be ready at 5pm. When shown confirmation of pickup time the cashier said that their system states it as a pickup time but it's actually when they send the order to the back. My family member told me this over the phone and I became very frustrated. Mind you I had a very important event I was attending that I volunteered to cater. I called the restaurant myself to speak with a manager on duty to address my concern but was told no manger was there. After asking how that was possible they put me on hold and ultimately hung up the phone. I called back asking why they hung up and I was told there are busy and they have customers in front of them as if I wasn't also a paying customer. After they demanded I speak to them over a manager I told them my concern and they told they have nothing to do with that. I told her yes I'm aware of that, that's why I wanted to speak to a manager. In the middle of my sentence a manager came onto the line. Mind you I was told they weren't even in the building. So either this individual wasn't even a manager or the cashier was lying to my face. After a ten minute back and forth with the "manager" I realized that there was zero accountability on the restaurants part. The lady kept saying "well it's ready now. Do you want to pick it up or no?" Mind you this is 30-40 minutes later. It was very clear she couldn't care less that this was a huge concern and it was essentially false advertisement. Overall the employees here couldn't care less about their customers and are the rudest waitstaff I've ever interacted with. I will never eat here again and have advised friends and family never to support this establishment again. I have also attached pictures with the order confirmation for reference.

    Chicken Shawarma Sandwich

This restaurant has really gone downhill since its opening. I used to go here a lot and I don't think I will return. The prices have been raised around twice in the last year from what I can tell, but the quality hasn't. The saj beef and chicken shawarma was so dry with NO seasoning or flavor, the pickle size was pathetic, and it barely had garlic sauce. Not only this, but it was 26.99 which does not make sense whatsoever. If a chicken shawarma is $7.99, beef shawarma $8.99, and fries are $4.99, the total should come out to $21.97 without any kind of "deal" for ordering an entree/combo. Where the hell is the other $5 coming from? You don't get soup or salad with the order, so what are we paying for? The service was terrible as well. Our server did not introduce herself, we had to ask for silverware twice and waited 15 minutes for it, and it took 15 minutes for water to be refilled despite not being busy. I find the google reviews very suspicious, it seems unlikely that 5+ people per day are leaving reviews with specific server names when they don't even introduce themselves. I cannot believe this is the same Saj Alreef that used to have stellar service and food. I noticed that it isn't packed like it used to be, and I see why. UPDATE: GAVE ME FOOD POISONING. I WOULD NOT GO HERE !!!!

    Menu

Food was good, typical Iraqi place. Def was fresh and soft meat, and plenty for 5 people. The food itself self was probably 4 stars. The place is new so it was very clean, long tables so comfortable seating. We were seated immediately, requested waters. Place our orders for food, soups arrived for everyone in a timely fashion. But for the 30 minutes no water and we had to request it again to be brought out. Food arrived, we ate comfortably. No one once checked on us to see if we needed anything else. Even once we finished eating no one stop by. We had to request someone to bring the check and boxes after finishing our food for a decent time. Our server was polite when he was with us but it's like they just forgot us at times. It is halal!

At work, we had delivered coupons and decided I'd give them a try. I did not regret my decision to come here for lunch. They had low house and dance music playing, but not loud club levels. The lighting was nice and modest, not blinding and bright like some places are. I would say this is a very trendy, upscale quick-service restaurant. The vibe and feel of the restaurant was very fresh and clean. The leather chairs were very comfortable. There are some good options for your entrees, but I got a three-piece tender meal and a drink. You can get drinks from the fountain or lemonades (normal or frozen). I would highly recommend this to anyone who wants fresh tenders that are fresh. In the photo I got the no spice, honey butter, and buffalo. I like that you can select the flavor for each tender, that's very unique to other experiences where they're all the same or can only get a couple flavors when placing a larger order. Kahmiah came around midway through my dining to see how my food was. Even though I asked to dine in, she asked if I needed a to-go container. The food was so delicious, I had nothing leftover. 10/10 would recommend and continue to come back.

We heard…read morethat a TX Chicken place was coming to Novi, so we decided to try an already established location. The parking lot was packed, but not for this place. For most of the time, it was empty and we were the only customers. A couple other parties did come in, but it was not as crowded as other big name chicken places. The décor was cute, but my husband was confused by what the actually theming was. Was it Houston? No clear direction. But it was eye catching. The people who worked here were mostly friendlyish, but the main person was super dry and not at all personable. It seemed like we were bothering this person even though she was fair and efficient. Just not friendly at all. The food was super expensive, especially for the portion size. The meal cost more than a typical sit down restaurant, especially for the experience, portion size, and the quality, and that's not okay. I guess I would rather have a sit down experience compared to this. I can go to our favorite Mexican restaurant for cheaper chicken and fries plus chips and salsa for less money. The fries were really good, well seasoned, crispy and thick. The cheese dipping sauce was really good, but pricy for the amount given. The house sauce was not bad, but the BBQ was just a brand name pre-made cut, and not a house sauce, surprising for a chicken place. And the syrup was also a pre-made cup, not a house made syrup for a place that wants to do waffles. The waffles were good, very sweet, seemed like a Belgian liege style, I would recommend it and they do offer a la carte waffles. The chicken sandwich was probably the best of the chicken. Both kids got the honey butter sauce. They were tasty, but so small for a $12 price a la carte, and even more with fries. The strips were disappointing. The chicken was not juicy enough and the actual chicken had very little flavor. We got plain, honey butter, mild and medium. The plain one did not have much flavor, even good seasoning to it. The mild and medium were red in color but lacked flavor. The lemonades were very good, but super expensive. Honestly, go to Shake Shack down the street, their lemonades are great and refillable, also larger and less expensive. Personally, Dave's Hot Chicken would be my go-to in the hot chicken category of fast food. And Shaquille O'Neil's chicken place is the place I would return to for a variety of options plus milk shakes. The shakes here were honestly too expensive to try even though they looked good. Since parking was limited, I imagine most people were at Panda next door, where the prices are better and the portions are bigger. Plus there are so many wing a strip places around us, I would need an amazing experience to come back soon and this was unfortunately not it. But, if you are a hot chicken fan, give this place a try and see for yourself.

We wait 15 more minutes and even though I ordered kebab skewers, I was given weird thin grilled chicken breast with no vegetables. The other entrée was ice cold. We placed another order today, I even asked her to make sure it was correct because we've had two bad experiences back to back. Quoted 20 minutes, we get the food after 30 minutes and the entire sandwiches is wrong. So they remake the sandwich and give us french fries that are ice cold with the new sandwich. The lack of attention to detail for the cost of the items is just not worth it. Just disappointed overall... not sure what's happened there recently.

I visited to experience the cuisine, which I haven't had much of admittedly. However, after reading several reviews I was led to try it. There was a large order ahead of me, and since there is only one gentleman, the owner, preparing the food, I was there for over an hour waiting for my carryout. I definitely can't stress enough how important it is to order ahead. The menu is small but mighty. It consists of jerk chicken, curry chicken, oxtails, curry goat red snapper, salmon, and Rasta Pasta for the mains. Side dishes include yams, rice & peas, cabbage, plantain and other items. He also sells juices and Jamaican beef patties. Now admittedly, I'm a lightweight when it comes to spices, particularly heat. I don't care for hot spices this is why I shied away from eating Caribbean food. *haha* I ordered the pasta thinking I would be avoiding the curry and the jerk seasonings. But being unfamiliar with the dish, I was wrong. The dish was full of flavor and very spicy. If you like that sort of thing, I am sure you will enjoy it as it had a deep flavor as if it was stewed overnight. The pasta comes with chicken, which was very tender and juicy. I also had a beef patty. The crust was flaky and delicious, as was the beef filling. Before I left, I shared with the owner that I had planned to leave a review on Yelp. He shared with me a letter that he had received from Yelp congratulating him on his driving business. He is humble, with a great spirit. I enjoyed him. I highly recommend Caribbean Authentic Cuisine.
