(3.5 stars, IMO, but I'm rounding up). I'm a sucker for bakeries. They are truly my biggest downfall. So when I was in the area to get an eye exam recently, I was excited to visit this bakery nearby. Despite its name, it is not a French bakery (which I thought it would be. Saint Germain? Totally French!). No, it's an Asian bakery, with more Asian-inspired baked treats, breads and pastries. Nothing wrong with that at all; just not what I was expecting. They had a wide assortment of savory and sweet buns and tarts, many individually wrapped (very convenient!). They also had a variety of beverages that seemed to be rather popular (I'm not familiar with these types of teas and drinks, but the reviews say they're refreshing and good). I was most impressed with the gorgeous front display case of cakes, some whole, some in individual slices. They were all stunning. One caught my eye, with a robust deep pink icing over a white dense cake, with a rose petal on top. I asked the woman, what was that? And she said it was their "Rose Cake". I asked what it was like, and she said, and I quote, "Like a cheesecake". Well, I LOVE cheesecake so I asked for a slice to take home. And I got an individually wrapped "Swiss roll" too (coffee flavor). The Swiss roll was good, fresh and moist, but not very sweet. (Another reviewer commented on how the cakes here aren't really that sweet, so if you're like me, expecting traditional flavors of certain baked goods - which you know to be on the sweet side, - you may be disappointed). That said, it was still quite good. It would be perfect with some hot tea or coffee to go with it. I was very disappointed in the rose cake. As beautiful as it was, it was NOT, in any way, shape or form, like cheesecake (which is what I expected). It was like a plain white cake with a different texture (light and airy, not dense). I checked out their brochure later on and it said it was a "rose mascarpone cream on a light almond cake", with raspberry glazing. SO..... for what it was, it was excellent. Just totally NOT what I was lead to believe it would be. Before purchasing any cakes, I recommend reading the brochure descriptions and not relying on what the counter-ladies tell you. I am attaching photos of the cake and the brochure.

I came here awhile ago for a Yelp event and was happy that a St. Germain opened up in Kerrisdale. I came back again for the yummy Sunshine Citrus drink which consisted of orange, lemon, mint, and cold brew tea. This drink is about $4 but so refreshing on a sunny day. While I was there I couldn't resist buying some of their buns and a few slices of cake. Everything was organized and easy to find. The staff is helpful, the place is bright and spacious.

The new Saint Germain in Kerrisdale is very spacious and pretty. The staff were very friendly and helpful. You can find everything all displayed very organized. We often get their cakes during birthdays as they're not very sweet and more to the parents liking. The buns are also delicious and well packaged for easy on the go. I always get them for a simple breakfast on my way to work. They added new drinks now and they say it's HK style, but it didn't taste like it. It was premade, and it had a powdery tea taste versus fresh brew ones. Maybe I'm just picky, but I didnt like the drink. Everything else is good though!

I went to the new location on 33rd and Knight Rd where the system was down so it was cash only which was chaos with a lineup building. They had a good variety of pastries and I love bakeries.Everything was nicely individually wrapped and reasonably priced as I got quite a lot for $20.The offerings were average similar to Grocery Store Bakeries in taste.

Usually for last few years I've been ordering from Esther at Dipnsip & Unni Pastries. I was…read morereferred at my friend's wedding as I was looking for cakes and pastries for in-laws. Well it seems ownership has changed and the new owner doesn't give two craps about prior customers, honoring discounts, replying back timely or being more friendly? Was playing email tag and finally submitted the 39 flavors and didn't hear back until after another week and then told they won't deliver only in morning when they know our reservation was for 730pm and they're open until 9? I even replied back and nothing. We own and run several business in lower mainland and in United States and this customer service from Unni Pastries is trash. At least you can do is reply back and apologize? For wasting time when I specifically told you it's for family and friends flying into town for a funeral burial. Will never use their business again. I highly suggest Mello. They replied and helped me out last minute. Shame on you! Learn how to run a business and treat customers esp previous customers who were supporting the business and fellow Krn but it's clear the new owner doesn't care about the customer or quality it's all about quantity. Maybe my 39 donuts which I offered to pay extra for time and packaging wasn't large enough but money is money. Especially during this time and economy. You should've at least replied back and even tried asking us to do pickup as the restaurant is down the road. Do better! Go to Mello which isn't too far and they bake fresh daily better pricing and reviews and consistency!

Also a lot of red bean. For savoury, they have large paninis and lasagna. The service is friendly and there's sufficient indoor seating.
