I'm somewhat amazed that this place has not had more reviews. This is because I was, and remain, highly excited about its opening. I can realise that on first glance, this looks more than a little sad on my part.
BUT, this really is the closest supermarket to me. All the more so, because I am one of the last few over eighteen year olds who does not have a car. Hence, it's either a three minute bus journey or a seven minute walk (roughly) for me to my nearest supermarket. Given my only other choice is the tiny Coop on Battlefield Road, it's not surprising that I LOVE this Sainsburys.
Admittedly, it's not the cheapest and some products in particular seem to be overpriced (bog roll for Pete's sake!). Though, it does have a good range of products and some rather appealing deals on. It your desired items are not in any of the deals you can usually find the no frills version of it for a fairly reasonable price e.g. a litre of orange juice for 50p. Not quite sunshine in a bottle but thirst quenching all the same.
Additionally, even when I've been in at peak dinner buying times (4pm-7pm) I've still been able to easily navigate my way through the supermarket and round other shoppers. Furthermore, you don't need to worry about massive queues due to their new self-service areas. While, they may seem a little scary the first few times they really are worth facing the fear.
No queues, no need for human interaction and you'll still head home with some tasty dinner that doesn't require much effort. Perfect after a hard day's work. read more
