The staff are pretty great and get through the queues quickly. It's fine as a convenience store if you need to pick up a few things when you're in the area.

I can tell you how: It's the only place to buy groceries on this part of Argyle Street that's open 24 hours a day. That's worth something when everywhere else has closed and you're out of milk... or worse, toilet paper. They're actually not bad for a convenience store, either. The prices are steep-ish but not extortionate and they're the kind of store that also has lots of handy little bits and pieces. So, maybe you're only going in for a loaf of bread, but if you realise you need a pack of safety pins or a bottle opener or something, they'll likely have that too. Oh, and there's a cash machine right outside which doesn't charge and never seems to have a queue in front of it, even when the one outside Tesco has a massive queue. I have no idea why no one wants to use this one - maybe they just don't know it's there?

The mini mart has been here for what feels like eternity. In…read morethe past they used to have this shop open 24 hours, but as trends change so did the opening hours. This is still a good shop but it's one that I rarely stop by at to buy anything more than juice and even that's a rare occasion, and I think the reason is that they rarely support any Scottish or even British businesses for example they buy in bakery items amongst many other items in from Holland or Germany probably because it's cheaper but they mark up the prices higher than regular shops. But still they are one of the few shops that are open at 6am.

I find the security staff intimidating and rude I think one guy there has mummy issues and should really have counselling and not be taking his anger out on customers who do no wrong. The self service section is a joke as half of them have not been switched on and the one l used made me feel as if l just won the jackpot on a fruit machine in a pub, how can a shop justify paying a customer 62p change in 2p pieces. Ice cream that has been defrosted is being re frozen and sold again when l reported the issue to the duty manager he did nothing. Tesco sort yourselves out!

Corner stores are so hit and miss - you either get a warm friendly greeting, or some total grump who doesn't want to talk to you. Thankfully, the guy here was super welcoming and had a big smile - so that's the reason for the 4 stars. Magazines, crisps, sweets and I even think there's a freezer underneath the piles of newspapers, although I've never bought frozen stuff here. They have a good range of booze behind the counter, including a selection of wine - nothing fancy, all pretty cheap, but if you need an emergency bottle of Jacob's Creek (and after a hard Monday at work, who doesn't?) then it's fine. Prices are standard corner shop - you'll get cheaper if you go to a supermarket but I don't feel like you get ripped off here. Best of all are the staff - it's been the same family running it for years and they're really friendly, greet you by name and always smiling and chatty.

I nipped along the Tesco Express just a few doors along but they had sold out. Oh dear. Not really sure what to do I decided to give this little store a try. As soon as I popped in the door I was greeted by a box of red, ripe, juicy tomatoes, phew! I bought around 4 and they came to about 80p, what a bargain! The woman working that day was really helpful and chatted to me as she was bagging my tomatoes so I decided to share my tomato based disaster with her. Thank goodness Value Convenient Store saved the day!

I nodded politely. He then gave me double finger guns THEN a double thumbs up. I left feeling much better.
