We Won't be Coming Back.! Being frequent diners of the Fifth Avenue restaurant scene, we always enjoy trying a new venue. With much excitement, we looked forward to our first dining experience at Sails. Must say that the ambience is great as well as the service. We opted for the $39.00 , three course meal. Unfortunately, it was less than what we are accustomed to on the Fifth Avenue restaurant circuit. We both ordered different entrees and were shocked by the portion size. When I looked over and saw the portion of the diner at the table next to me and looked at my meager portion, I immediately told the server that this didn't seem right. The response was, I will tell the Chef. When my waiter, asked how everything was, I commented on portion size. I also mentioned that the food was good but that because of the meager amount, we would not be back. The response was, I will tell the Chef. At no time did anyone try to correct the situation. I wish Sails much success and think that they have a great location, with good food, however, they need to look at tweaking their menu with inadequate portion. At no time did a manager stop by. We happened upon Sails by accident. Made reservations for their early dinner (before 5:30) and each ordered from their 3 flight menu. The tomato salad was fresh and tasty. The mussels and clams were plump and the broth had to be sopped up by their homemade focaccia bread. The pasta main dinner was beautifully cooked and combined with a fish broth that had a mildly spicy briney wonderful full flavor. The whole branzino was perhaps the best fish I've ever had. The skin was crispy and flavorful while the meat was soft and velvety. The favorite Dessert was a simple goat cheese and honey combination that ended the meal with the perfect tart and sweetness. The service was exceptional. This restaurant sets the standard for service and food for all of Naples. All the negative reviews must be weird one offs or from people who clearly are better off at an all you can eat buffet. And a good restaurant doesn't mean your plate is so crammed full of food you walk away feeling like a glutton. read more

I just celebrated my birthday with a dinner at Sails. It was our first time and we were truly impressed by the quality of the food and the service. Had the octopus appetizer and fish for mail course. Both were delicious! Will definitely go back and enjoy other items in the menu. read more

I am 56 years old, have eaten in some of the finest and most expensive restaurants in the world, and this was, BY FAR, the most overpriced restaurant I have ever tried. The service was poor. The food was okay, but nothing special. The prices were OUTRAGEOUS. The concept is similar to Milo's in New York or Montreal - you can choose something off the menu or you can choose from a selection of fresh fish, flown in daily, that is on ice in a display case - but Sails doesn't hold a candle to Milo's. The wait staff will steer you to the fresh fish for a reason - there is no pricing for the fresh fish selections on the menu and they don't volunteer the pricing to you. This is especially deceptive bc the menu items don't seem to be out of line. As an example, an appetizer of 4 prawns and 2 langostino was over $100. If you go, ASK the prices. Dinner for two, with one bottle of wine that was only $65, was $466 not including tip. We had an appetizer, split a salad, split an appetizer pasta dish, and each had a piece of fish. The fish was nothing special. The crab and lobster lasagne appetizer was the best thing. We had an 8:00 reservation, showed up early, and it was past 9:00 before the $100 appetizer was served. Of course, to compensate for the appetizer being so late, they brought two "free" desserts which we didn't want, rather than take the appetizer charge off the bill. Cheaper to give you a dessert than reduce the bill by $100. We will never go back. We feel ripped off. read more

Beautiful rooms with well prepared food. BUT, to order your fish, you go to a cramped area with piles of dead fish on ice and pick a type of fish from the display. Each fish type has a per pound price, but no one tells you that you are buying an entire fish, not just a portion, and no one tells you the weight of the fish you will get. That's how we ended up with $216 of fish for two people. And we know at least three other diners who had the same experience. This could be the most expensive restaurant in America! Not to mention the fact that our server was largely absent, we had to go to the bar to refresh our drinks ourselves,ask repeatedly for water and light our own candles. We were there for 4 hours!! Let's hope that when these folks go out of business, a good restaurateur will take over this wonderful spot. read more

Sails is setting the standard for food and service in Naples. There are so many good restaurants to try but Sails is a step above them all. We have been there numerous times. The owner and his wife are always there and are always watching their staff to make sure they are giving the utmost in service. The seafood is exceptionally fresh and diverse, not just the normal run of the mill grouper, snapper, king crab that the other restaurants have. You will find Mediterranean seafood not offered anywhere else, Dover sole, true langoustines and other types of shell fish. They are prepared perfectly and served in the French style of service. And, they have it down perfectly. The meats and fish are all cooked over a wood fired grill which imparts an amazing flavor. Appetizers are great, desserts just as good. Their soufflé is better than any other French restaurant in Naples and is probably one of the best I've tasted anywhere. If I had to take off a star, which I wouldn't do, it would be the pricing. This is an expensive restaurant. However, it's worth the treat and this is Naples, most everyone here can afford it. If you appreciate service as much as the food, you must go to Sails! read more

Very surprised to find food mediocre at such high prices and phony waitresses. Glass of wine was $42. Asked waitress where to find Chardonnay options by the glass (menu had some under $20 per glass). She suggested one. Get bill and glass of wine was $42. Pretty ridiculous. She could have said we have a "more expensive option from the menu".....anything that would indicate it was not one of the under $20 options on the menu. NEVER going back! Tried this after sunset Friday night. Great seat at the bar. My wife and I had two appetizers and one main course between us and the bill was over 100 dollars without any drinks. Food was good but unremarkable. Staff seems more focused on alcohol service than the menu. The bread lady would come by after begging and give you a slice of cold dry bread without any butter. Started at the bar for cocktails, the bartender was very well trained in making cocktails. My old fashion was perfect. Food was excellent. One of the owners came to our table to ask how the meal was going, made us feel valued on a somewhat busy night. Our waitress was very kind and well informed on the menu. The hostess Carol got us a table even though some of the restaurant was closed off. Working in the fine dining industry I was blown away by the service and would recommend this restaurant to anyone. Love the interior, gorgeous dining room and bar. Very nice bathroom, but only one stall for woman. There was a line of woman using the men's restroom. The man serving water and bread was outstanding. The waitress did not know the specials or the fish entrees and did not review menu until after we had had our second bottle of wine. The sommelier was very knowledgeable but I felt they spent more time serving us bottles of wine and not taking our order. We received our starters TWO hours after we were seated! Great wine list, meticulously designed cocktails, great food, exceptional romantic-melodic-dinner musicians (perfect volume) - usually guitar or violin, the best attentive, knowledgable, bartenders, servers, hosts. Dined 6/13/18....Was looking forward to visiting since we popped in to check it out at their soft opening...beautiful restaurant, we had a great experience in choosing the bottle of wine, they were very helpful and it was only $75, then we chose our food, we chose a scallop $25 and langoustine $38 for appetizer to share.....they gave us one each, we should have complained but didn't, we couldn't eat the scallop it was terrible,the other was only fine....we told one of the 5 waiters that were at our table we didn't like it, he didn't say anything! We got a turbot to share, it was enough for only 2 people yet on bill said it was 3.5 lbs for total of $203! It also wasn't that good! Just OK, We enjoyed the risotto,it was delicious as were the mushrooms both overpriced and hardly enough to share....$46 and $14. We didn't want dessert however they gave us a complimentary honey and yogurt that was nice! I would never go back for dinner, I would possibly go back for risotto and wine.....it's a shame it's such a pretty place, I felt like I was taken advantage of, the 2 of us got madder after we left, we were shocked at the ridiculous prices! I am down in Naples every winter....I don't expect them to be there next year. read more

We didn't eat our entrees as they were so bad and of course they didn't charge us for them or one of the appetizers we ordered which again was not very good and we could not eat. My husband has been planning my 50th birthday dinner for 2 months and was so excited to about trying this new restaurant. He spoke with Corinne (the owner) several times wanting it to be perfect birthday dinner. She promised it would be great and would have a special dessert planned and make it perfect. NONE OF THIS HAPPENED. It began with the six of us sitting for 45 minutes with no waitstaff in sight. We couldn't even get anyone to give us bread! The only reason we had wine was because we brought our own wine and the sommelier was the only one who showed up at our table. After at least 5 times of our asking for service we finally got their attention. I personally approached Corinne and explained our problem. She sent her fiancé over to work with us and not once stopped by our table to see how we were. We started off with a seafood tower, which was mediocre at best. Overall the food was good but 100% NOT WORTH THE MONEY NOR SERVICE! Then they came over and said we will give you complimentary dessert and champagne. Dessert was awful. When our bill came, they made sure to tell us "we didn't charge you for the dessert or champagne", NONE OF WHICH WE ORDRERD. On our way out, I once again said how excited my husband was to plan this evening for me and how disappointing the whole evening was. All Corinne was concerned with was when I wrote my Yelp review that I made sure to talk about the food. The food was good, NOTHING SPECIAL!!! I've had way better meals in Naples! Bottom line.....STAY AWAY and save your money. Support other local restaurants in downtown Naples where you will be guaranteed to be treated like you matter!!! read more

We have tried it twice. The first time was last season shortly after it opened and clearly there were service issues but food was fine. The second time was in January and this time we were seated in the bar which was fine but it took at least 10 mins before our server arrived after asking several times who it was and tables on either side were being waited on. It seemed like we were in "no mans" land. After a rough start our "commissioned salesman " (our server) tried very hard to up-sell wine, desserts and the "fresh fish" from New Zealand (which is incredibly expensive and prices are not listed on the menu) which makes little sense since in Naples one CAN get truly fresh fish. Clearly the wait staff HAS been trained to UP-SELL. After the server persisted, we ordered a dessert for the table which came with a small dollop of home made ice cream. Since it was so small I asked for some more and when the check came I was very surprised that an additional 12.00 was added to the check for the 3 ozs of "extra" ice cream. Really?! Sails is way over priced and seems to cater to those who they think get a kick out of over paying. read more

So....where to begin on this disaster of night with the Sinking Sails Restaurant. Decide to bring Mom in for her Birthday, must say what a mistake! First off, host staff was told in advance of the special occasion and was initially sat at a dark table inside the bar area. Asked to be moved to another table which was eventually done after 30mins of waiting at the bar. Not the end of the world since we were 45mins early. We were finally sat back in the kitchen area were we met probably hands down the worst server I have ever met. His name was Jeff and folks let me just say, this guy clearly needs to seek another profession. Customer service is something he knows nothing about and has alot of attitude to go with it. The bread service was far more superior then what he had to offer. We sat there with dirty dishes multiple times, empty drinks, and everytime we asked for something it was like pulling teeth with this guy. Jeff was far more interested in larger tables around us seeking that bigger tip. Finally received the check from the manager and when we put him on notice, it was a pathetic attempt of an apology along with a free lunch. Free lunch???? Why the F---?!? Would I want to come back???? Folks let me just say there are far better restaurants in the Naples area. Don't waist your time with Sails....its truly a sinking ship. My third time at Sails tonight. I cannot begin to say how amazing this restaurant is. I ran into someone that had eaten there last week. I asked how he liked it. I will use his description. He said the food was a 10, the service was an 11, and the ambiance was an 11. Each time I tried something different. And, each time was amazing. The flavors in everything I tried were heavenly, pure and fresh. I already feel like family there. Everyone goes out of their way to meet you and make you feel welcome. My wife and I dined here to celebrate our 25th wedding anniversary. We were anticipating a five star experience; however, it turned out to be no more than a very average dining experience. It is definitely a different seafood concept for Naples. Selecting your fish means you buy the whole fish for $60+ per pound. My wife's filet of scorpion fish came to $136!! Ridiculous price for an average presentation and service. If the are trying to provide a first class dining experience they sorely need help in management and service. $400 for a dinner for two made us feel ripped off. The manager brought over a complementary dessert and glass of prosecco, but it was too late to salvage an under average dining experience. We will not return and cannot recommend to our friends. There are so many other competitors where we can spend our dollars. read more

I want to start off by saying EVERYONE was so nice .... genuinely NICE which is sometimes hard to find in upscale restaurants. We will definitely go back again. Craft cocktails were perfectly balanced. Presentation was beautiful. The bread and the specialty olive oil was good. I honestly think they should find 1 type of bread that perfectly pairs with the beautiful oil ( my 2 cents) ... service was a team effort from the general manager to the owner to the expediter... everyone was working hard and together that's a sign of a great team! The stuffed avocado with crab was "unreal" as my husband described. My tomato salad was fun , perfectly ripe and possibly the best feta cheese I've had. The slow cooked pork belly was good but everything on the plate was of a soft texture. The best dish of the night was the handmade pasta with fresh shaved truffle! Wow ! We ordered the waygu beef and we were disappointed. Too much char grill . Killed any taste of the beef . Killed any beautiful melting of the fat the way they sliced it. I'm sure people like this dish .... we are just not fans of this style of preparation. Knowing this before hand may have changed our minds about ordering this. They could tell neither of us enjoyed it and took it upon themselves to correct the issue in the best way possible.... we appreciated the kind gesture and again is a reason why we are a fan of this restaurant. The carrot side dish was delish, the potatoes were a favorite of my husbands but for me they were basically butter with some potatoes... and I'm sure people love them for that exact reason. Champagne cake was a tart way to end my meal and my husband ate every bite of the soufflé and we were kindly directed how best to eat it by the manager.... extra creme anglaise ... yum ! Did I mention they make the ice cream to order !!! Wow ! Also the yogurt Montenegro was the most amazing simple dish ! A must try ! Overall if your still reading this thoroughly involved sorta stuffy review we loved the place !!!! Tried out this restaurant last night. We requested a quieter table, since one in our party has difficulty. They put us in front of the kitchen window. That would have been alright except the servers yell in their order and the chefs yell what they are passing out. I am not exaggerating when I say YELL! For a fine restaurant I thought the service was sub-par. They told us they would be giving us the restaurant tour - that never happened. We were seated almost 30 min before someone came to take our drink order. We waited 20/30 for the drinks to be delivered. On a positive note, the bread server was lovely and attentive. We had to ask the wine steward to find our "captain" so we could place our order. He arrived about 10/15 min later and was pleasant. In between he pretty much disappeared. The food, when it arrived, was fresh and had great flavors. On another note, there is one bathroom for women and one bathroom for men. For this size restaurant it's hardly adequate. There was a constant que for it! The restaurant is nicely appointed but they need some sound panels to cut down on the noise. I would also recommend a different way or ordering and picking up food or they shouldn't have tables along the kitchen window. Don't bother making a special seating request, obviously they don't pay attention to them. A VERY disappointing night for all of us. There are many fine restaurants in Naples and the surrounding areas - in my opinion this is not one of them. read more

I had great expectations when going to Sail's for the first time. The reviews were good and I love fresh seafood. Unfortunately the result, at least on this night, was far less than the expectations. First, we were a party of six and were seated literally in front of the kitchen. While I appreciate open kitchens It's really difficult to catch up with friends with the high level of their kitchen noise. Then came the service with a smile. Obviously trained to up sell at every possible moment, our young server brought out the $450 wagyu ribeye paired with a large whole fish as a recommendation for the table, not once but twice. He then made ordering an entree from the menu uncomfortable by inviting everyone to visit the fresh fish on the ice display, which results in an $80 to $100 fish order per person before the ala carte sides. In the end the food was high quality and served nicely presented but dinner should not be a stressful event. If you go, get a table outside or in a quiet corner and you may have a better experience. read more

We had a terrible experience at this restaurant. Waiter offered to chose/pick fresh seafood from the stand. We picked fish and large prawns. Prawns were supposed to be grilled, but they were raw inside. I did not eat it, but husband did. Fish was ok. Desert - the chocolate soufflé, which we have ordered in the beginning as suggested by waiter, was never served to us, because something went wrong with preparation of it and the chef had to start over again. We have waited another half but it was still not ready. The raw shrimp, which I did not eat, but asked to be packed to go, was never brought to us. Paid $350.00 for dinner, which literately went down to toilet, because my husband had diarrhea and was throwing up all night from eating raw shrimp. When talked to manager about the whole experience, he invited us back and told us to ask for him when we are there. However when we were there for 30 minutes, he did not find 1 minute to come over to see us, when bartender told him 3 times that we are waiting for him. In conclusion - it was the worst dining experience we have ever had. read more
