Dinner with cousin, restaurant located in a strip mall across from Home Depot. Not much for great restaurants in Tracy, but this place is not bad. Due to covid, everything has a different vibe. Lol this is a Vietnamese restaurant but nothing we ordered was Vietnamese. I saw the curry chicken cutlet on a picture on the wall, that was a no brainer for me. Next time I will opt for the medium hot instead of staying safe and ordering mild. I do wish restaurants stop using that nasty breast meat chicken simply because it's convenient to purchase and use, the only thing breast meat chicken is good for is dog food and my pups even turn their noses up on it. We also had the calamari appetizer, eh, okay but nothing to write home about. We also tried the tofu soup with shrimp, I know, I'm not terribly fond of shrimp but my cousin is a fan, so shrimp it is. The tofu soup just reminded me of kimchi soup with tofu. Kimchi is not high on my list of food, even though it's really supposed to be healthy, I still contend that if you bury something, it's not meant to be dug up again, lol. Pretty darn good Pho joint in Tracy, CA. I usually like my noodles fresh and slightly thick but they didn't have it instead I was subbed w/ chow fun noodles which were extra thick and not cooked well. Although the noodles were disappointing the broth made up for it. Wish they added more protein in our bowl. We also tried their dry seafood noodle which tasted really good. Would not recommend their BBH though.. the broth did not taste like BBH whatsoever ever. My friend was disappointed but thats what happens when you order BBH at a Pho joint lol! read more

Updated review: the manager saw my last review concerning the amount of lemongrass chicken and invited me to come back. I'm so glad I did, as it was a great experience! This time I got the lemongrass chicken and Saigon eggplant delight, both a la carte. The waitress was very pleasant and let me know they gave me extra portion to make up for last time which was unexpected but very kind of them to do. Once again, the flavor of the food is incredible, and high quality. Food overpriced and slow. We came in at 6:37 pm and ordered 1 special pho combination with a spring roll for $ 18.98 and 1 pho special combo $14.95 without spring roll. At 7:05 pm they brought out half of a spring roll was cut in half (meat and shrimp were thin like a paper) and we waited for another five minutes and I asked the waiter for our food, they said to wait. A few minutes later my husband got up and left, I went to paid for the one spring roll and was charged $3.47 wow that was not worth it at all. In addition, the waiter spoke Vietnamese rudely telling the kitchen people" table # 10 cannot wait for their food they're leaving, don't make their food" indeed we couldn't wait any more because we waited for over 20 mins. This is our favorite restaurant for pho, their broth is so flavorful! I find myself constantly craving their pho ga (chicken pho). We've also tried a few of their non Vietnamese dishes, which can be hit or miss. The shaking beef has always been a favorite in our house. A hidden gem on their menu is the chicken rice porridge. I came to get takeout at Saigon last Saturday the 19th. I ordered a pretty good size order so I understood why it took some sometime to make it happen. If my order was a bit quicker I would probably go 5 stars. This food blew us away with the quality of it. Best fried eggplant dish I've probably ever had. It was perfectly battered and crisped. It also had a few fried shrimps in there too. Excellent dish. We got a dumpling pho, chicken pho for the kids, & a steak pho for the kids too. We also got a mango drink with gummies, and a avocado pearl drink which was really good too. When we've came in the past to dine in here it's been packed. The best PHO in town! Clear broth, not greasy at all! The best spring rolls I'm town and their fish sauce is very flavorful. They have tons of different plates options. This is as close to homemade pho as it gets. I've been coming here for years-- the staff is very friendly and they don't look at you like your crazy when you ask for extra lime/lemon like so other Vietnamese restaurants do. It's disappointing that I have to leave this review as I've eaten at this restaurant for years now with my family but today's experience may turn me away. Was looking to place an over-the-phone order and was placed on a hold. I have no problem with being on hold, but 20 minutes go by and no one returns to the phone to take my order. As I'm telling my family member about how no one has taken my order yet they're helping everyone else I hear faintly a young lady say "I hear him saying that we're taking other orders". I came here for lunch and it was a delicious, affordable and filling meal with prompt and attentive service! I highly recommend. Food: I ordered a fried roll and rice porridge. The fried rolls came out fast and they were fresh and you could really taste the authentic ingredients inside the roll. The dipping sauce packs flavor and it's not too strong. The porridge was also really good. While I wish there were more seafood portions and while my porridge had some clumps of rice, I enjoyed the flavor and big serving all for under $9. A really good value. Service: The staff here is very attentive. They noticed when we walked in, guided us to a seat, and were quick to take our order, refill our waters and provide the bill. The team here are like a well oiled machine. Vibe: Most of the people who were here looked like they were professionals who worked in the area. I've been going to Saigon since I can remember. This place is great for serving more than just delicious pho, their other dishes like the vermicelli bowls, rice plates and pad thai is just as good. The service is always by far the greatest and I love how intimate it is. Their food is just as great as well. However, the new servers or cooks that they hired are kind of slow. I usually get my food pretty fast but I just went here Wednesday and the store was nearly empty. I didn't get my food a little longer than usual which is odd because the store had a few guests. But nonetheless I will always prefer this place over any pho place in Tracy. read more

Update to my review: I'm not sure if they changed cooks or ownership but the Korean tofu soup has changed drastically. I came to get this soup I've enjoyed for a looooong time and I can no longer give it 5 stars. The vegetarian tofu soup used to be full of flavor, tofu, cabbage, shiitake mushroom and even enaki mushroom!! Soooo good. I've been to this shopping center hundreds of times and yet never noticed this was here...oops. Came here for a family dinner on a Saturday evening and it was busy, likely because it was cold outside. Plenty of options on the menu, including different meat-based pho bowls. I opted for the mixed vegetables pho bowl and it was delicious! Also tried the pot stickers which serve as a small but tasty bite before your meal. However, the experience I had with the flies wasn't ideal. I understand that flies are bound to happen with the door wide open, which I don't mind. BUT the older gentleman who worked here proceeded to kill them WHILE I was eating at my table. He came out with a fly swatter (I can't comment whether it was clean or not), and began swatting them on my table, right across and next to my food, and the wall nearby. At one point, I even had a dead fly just inches away from my bowl, and had to ask him to clean it up. Definitely made me lose my appetite and question if anything could've fallen into my bowl... Rainy & cold here in Tracy today. All day I was craving the best Pho in town from Saigon. I planned my dinner around their soup, drove to the restaurant and picked up my to go order. Came home, got ready for dinner... and imagine my disappointment when I opened the order and it was wrong. I've been a customer there for a few years and never had this happen. I immediately called to share my disappointment... and the nicest person I could imagine answered the phone (Mary). She not only calmed me down by apologizing but offered to send me the correct order via a delivery service. I can tell you that this completely floored me. I was expecting to have to fight much more than just calling. I cannot say enough say enough nice things about Saigon Vietnamese Restaurant. They truly care about their customers and their reputation. Best Pho in Tracy, hands down. Ordered sweet and sour chicken. Chicken was extremely overcooked, almost jerky-like. Sauce did not have a great taste to it. Only had 3 pieces of canned pineapple. Had a huge chunk of ginger (about half inch thick and 1 inch long). Overall, I couldn't get myself to finish it, so had to throw 80% in the garbage. Cost was $14+ without rice. Had a craving for some pho and wanted to try this place out for the 1st time. I couldn't make up my mind on which pho dish to try but got side tracked with the menu options. I noticed they also had a few Thai dishes and also a Korean Shrimp Tofu Soup. I opted for the Korean Soup but was definitely disappointed with the portion. It was a small bowl for $15 and only had 2 pieces of shrimp with the majority of the small bowl being mainly tofu. Maybe this is what I get for going to a Vietnamese restaurant and ordering Korean soup. I will give them a 2nd chance and try a bowl of Pho next time. Hopefully it will not disappoint. read more
