This popped up as the new Vietnamese coffee shop in San Jose. Their soft opening special was buy 2 get 1 free but that ended on Oct 4th. We came on the 5th and they still had 10% off special. The decor inside is nice, reminds me of coffee shops in Vietnam. Parking can be tough during the weekend, we came on a Monday afternoon and there were only a few spots available. For drinks, we tried: - Saigon salted plum 3.5/5 - while it was refreshing on this hot day it wasn't salty or plummy enough - coffee with matcha foam 4/5 - coffee was strong and the foam on top wasn't too sweet - mango sticky rice matcha - I didn't try this myself as I got it for a friend but she seem to really enjoyed it - BMT coffee - also got for a friend but they said it was good

Soft opening weekend and the shop is buzzing! There's a constant stream of folks coming and going, so parking looks a little tight but not impossible to find a spot after a few minutes. Plenty of seating inside, with thoughtful, cute and warm decor. There's a kiosk for ordering, as well as one register. There's a bathroom in the back as well. They're currently running a buy 2 get 1 promotion right now on all drinks! Here's what we tried: Foam sea salt coffee: 3/5 the foam was tasty by itself but when mixed, the drink was no longer salty. Like a regular Vietnamese coffee. Mango sticky rice matcha: 4/5 mango flavor was good but a tad too sweet and overpowered the matcha. Saigon salted plum tea: 2/5 all sweet and not salty enough! I don't taste the plum at all. Saigon sunset: 5/5 well balanced, fragrant, a surprise favorite of the group. BMT cream coffee: 3.5/5. I preferred this to the salted coffee. Competition is stuff in San Jose! Best of luck to Saigon Social Cafe among so many Vietnamese coffee shops!

I'm disappointed. The good: nice friendly ambience, good parking depending on when you visit since there is a laundromat next door. Service is relatively fast. The bad: - Coffee (1/5): watery, sweet, coffee does not stand out especially amidst all the new coffee places opening up in San Jose - Dừa tắc (0/5): let me just start by saying I throw the entire cup away. It seems like they use the jam from vietnamese market, mix it with costco coconut juice plus a bunch of sugar then serve it. It tastes old, not fresh at all. - Oolong rice milk tea (2/5): this is a milk drink, not a tea drink. I can taste the "rice milk" but no tea in here. - Flan (3/5): just a simple flan inside a plastic cup. They just open the place and put out a bunch of advertisement, but they can't represent the dessert dish better? If they put it out in a plate & have ice on it, it would sell a lot better. Flan is smooth but a little hard & thick for my taste. - Matcha (3.5/5): very mid, nothing special. Butter cream cookie is good & easy to make. It's not bad but not recommend it either. Now the ugly: They advertise heavily on buy 2 get 1, which is just an.... Okay deal... But because they have heavy traffic, they withdrew this promotion. Now the promotion is 10% off. This is false advertisement & off putting since the advertisement clearly stated the promotion period for their b2g1. Owner should stay truth to their advertisement & promotion, focus on quality of each drink, improve presentation.

Just decided to try this place for the first time, and I have to say I was pleasantly surprised! The space is clean, spacious, and very welcoming. It looks like a great spot to hang out, and there were already quite a few people there enjoying the place. I got the ceremonial-grade matcha, and it was really good! Very high quality with a nice, balanced flavor. I definitely enjoyed it and will be coming back to try some of the other drinks. Next time, I'll bring my wife along and see what she thinks as well. I would definitely recommend this place. The decor is nice, the atmosphere is great, and overall it has a really good vibe!

The biscoff matcha was super creamy and delicious. Perfect amount of sweet. The cake was good and moist. The manager or boss was super friendly!

I have never had their avocado latte before, but got it 50% sweet, less ice.The avocado added a nice creaminess in it with a subtle hint of avocado that wasn't overpowering for the drink. Would get again. For the eggspresso hanoi, honestly this is what I get almost every time I come here. Always get the 50% sweetness with less ice. Flavors are always the same when I get this drink which is nice.

It was just left at "order confirmed" and I walked in at the time it said it word be ready expecting them to not have started due to the tracker and they pulled from fridge when I arrived. 2.) all 3 drinks tasted watered down. Not sure how early they made these. 3.) lychee fruit tea was flavorless. Absolutely no lychee flavored and taste like sugar when I ordered 0%. Paid a $1 for aloe Vera and was pretty skimpy on it. 4.) coco mango is literally blended coco milk and ice and mango syrup left at the bottom. Just so artificial. 5.) egg coffee was ok, but again watered down. Would not order online again since their tracking bar didn't work or workers chose not to update. The cups/serving was pretty big, so if you care about quantity vs quality- you'll enjoy this place.

Located directly at the corner of S. Second St and E. William St, this family owned-and-operated coffeeshop is in the heart of downtown. Parking here during any given day can be quite challenging; especially during the workweek as there are various offices around here as well as being in close proximity to San Jose State University. Business hours are 7am-4pm seven days a week. I came here during the morning of Friday 9/4/2026 at around 10:00am. Fortunately I was able to find a nearby parking spot but as a reminder, meters are everywhere. The exterior of the business showcases their business name complete with several planter boxes, colorful outdoor seating, and umbrellas to shield out the sun. The interior is small and quaint yet there is still ample seating for roughly two dozen customers. It is one of the smaller coffeeshops I have been to and can get quite loud. So if you're focused on studying or conducting a virtual meeting, this may not be the place for you. Since I was saving my appetite for breakfast somewhere else, I ended up ordering a drink. And to those that have been here highly praised their "Pandan Latte". This is Asias answer to a vanilla latte as they use sweetened pandan-infused extract to give it a very unique taste. I chose 2% milk and wanted to go with an iced version as it was a relatively warm summer morning. This place does offer many more unique offerings that include lattes made with banana cream. Piloncillo coffee (widely known as café de olla), and Madagascar flavors. Keep in mind that this place does not accept cash so make sure you have your cards ready to go and of course, they take Apple/Google Pay. I will say that my Pandan Latte was made to absolute perfection as the taste was not too sweet and not too bitter. The service was also above average as this small business had a very festive vibe to it. I also wanted to add that they sell a nice assortment of whole bean coffee, teas, and other various merchandise on their website, https://www.academiccoffee.com/ as well as in their brick-and-mortar stores. Furthermore, they opened a second location on Winchester Blvd/Forest Ave right near Valley Fair Mall in Santa Clara. With excellent service, prime location, and delicious beverages, I am giving "Academic Coffee" in San Jose a perfect five-star rating.

Not super big place but a comfortable spot. Owner is super nice and down to earth as well. Makes it easy to come back! Had my favorite Pulp beer from Fieldwork. Unfortunately, the customer service, particularly when it comes to pickup orders, consistently leaves much to be desired. Nearly every time I place a pickup order, I'm left standing there without so much as a greeting or acknowledgment from the staff. Even a simple "We'll be with you in a moment" would go a long way. What's especially frustrating is that my drink is often already prepared and sitting there, yet no one calls out names or makes any effort to let customers know their orders are ready. The entire purpose of ordering ahead is to save time, but that convenience is completely lost when you're left waiting unnecessarily for a drink that's already been made. This isn't a one-time occurrence; it's happened consistently enough that it's become incredibly frustrating. I enjoy supporting this business, but the lack of basic customer acknowledgment and an efficient pickup process is disappointing. A little attentiveness and communication would make a significant difference in the overall experience.

Another coffee shop that has caught my eye!!…read more Everything about Arisan Tea & Coffee House is wonderful. The signage, the seating, and the menu items. I was stoked to find a Salted Egg and Pork Floss Viet Cake. Not pictured, but I also ordered the Truffle Cream Viet Coffee! The coffee was very strong and in your face, as you would expect a viet style coffee. They nailed it. The truffle cream was very distinct and worked surprisingly well. The salt in the cream helped to balance the bitterness in the coffee perfectly. The Salted Egg Cake was fluffy, savory, and sweet all at once! I did not interact much with the staff, but they seem to very attentive and my drink came out in less than 3 minutes from ordering despite there being a line. That's pretty five stars to me!
