This review is for a delivery order but I also dined in a couple months ago with the same thoughts about the food. Thai tea w/boba - lacking Thai tea flavor, sadly. Boba was nice and soft and chewy though. Garden rolls - super fresh with good sauce. Pork vermicelli with summer rolls - The pork was slightly overcooked for my taste and not as flavorful as I'd like. The noodles seemed freshly made and felt fatter than I'm used to from other places. I don't know how to really explain it, other than it seemed to have more moisture in them. Additionally, and oddly, the fish sauce didn't seem to give the dish much flavor as well. Was the food good? The vegetarian pho was very bland. It didn't have any flavor at all. The only additional sauces were the brown sauce and sriracha. I won't return because the food was not good at all. I like supporting and trying new businesses but this Pho place is just not for me. They also didn't have many vegetarian options which pretty much limited my choice to this one meal which was fine with me but just a heads up to others. read more

Stumbled into this place after leaving Anthropologie on a rainy day (It's right next door). The pho was calling my name... Walked in to be seated immediately by a super friendly male host. We ordered the dark meat chicken pho, egg rolls, fresh rolls, and Thai tea. Food was served quickly and the pho broth was piping, proper hotness! So comforting in the dreary weather! The tea in the Thai tea was potent, just how I liked it, to balance out the sweet and creamy. The egg rolls were top tier, the fresh rolls were a bit chewy. I saw this place a few weeks ago when I was walking downtown and decided to finally try them! I ordered via doordash and then came to pick it up. I got the dark meat chicken pho and an order of egg rolls. The egg rolls were nice and crispy and had a great flavor and came with a tangy dipping sauce. The pho was packed nicely with the broth in one container, and then the noodles and meat in another. There was a separate baggie with the bean sprouts, basil, limes and jalapeños. The portion size of the pho was really nice, I was able to eat two helpings and also share with my partner. In the future, i'd be sure to add extra noodles for my leftovers. This place is a great value for the cost. They also have boba and I can't wait to try it. My only negatives were that some of my toppings weren't the freshest (mushy Black bean sprouts, bruised basil) and I don't think the the chicken was seasoned, but I guess once you jazz your broth that doesn't matter too much. read more

After reading multiple positive reviews I decided to go. This was a mistake as most reviewers apparently do not know what good Vietnamese food is all about. I had the pho #1 with different pieces of meat. Many were full of fat and crunchy as in cheap meat. My wife had some beef over noodles. The beef was average and in small quantity and the noodles were overcooked. The setting of the restaurant is also cold and unattractive. Not going back. read more

Just got the worst Vietnamese noodle bowls in my life. Order two pork vermicelli noodle bowls and when I opened the boxes, I literally said WTF. There was a skimpy amount of pork and they also skimped on the fresh herbs and lettuce-- I received a scant handful of lettuce and probably the equivalent of two basil leaves. There were also no crushed peanuts and the fish sauce that came with it was extremely diluted. To top it off, there was a piece of aluminum foil or metal in my food. A decent pho place around Old Town! My husband and I ordered banhmi sandwiches and a bowl of pho! The banhmi sandwiches were both good. One was the house special, which included vietnamese ham and french-style pate, along with other toppings of picked carrots, radish, green onion, cilantro, and jalapenos. The other sandwich was the chicken sandwich. I preferred the chicken, which was seasoned as grilled lemongrass, and also had similar garnishes to the other sandwich. We also ordered a pho bowl, which was good, but a tad too salty for my taste. The sandwich prices were extremely reasonable for old town - $7 each! The pho bowls were a bit more expensive than what I would have preferred - think it was around ~$14 each. Overall, it's nice to see another pho place in Old Town! read more

We would stop in once a month or so for pho since we live around the corner. Wasn't that surprised when they closed, since we were often the only ones in there when we stopped on. Walked by today, had a lovely chat with new owner while we waited for our order. I got the shrimp pho- full of huge plump shrimp- but the broth was unbelievably tasty. My husband scarfed up his brisket pho uttering words of amazement. We got it to go and everything was packaged so well and looked so very tasty. We also split the spring rolls which were crispy and stuffed with deliciousness. The place is now bright, airy, and inviting. Didn't see the drink menu til after we ordered but will definitely include a fresh limeade and eat in next time. All the staff were wonderfully kind and pleasant, the renovations have made this into a very bright, beautiful place to enjoy amazing food. Wishing them all the luck with the new place. The egg roll was different from other places that I've had which made it that much better in my opinion. Now down to the nitty gritty, the pho. We both got the beef based broth. I got the number 7 and added well done brisket and my partner got the number 9. The food broth was and noodles were SO good that I could've got a bowl of that alone and still would've been fully satisfied. The broth was full of flavor and the noodles had the most perfect bite. Came in with a few friends and the first impression of the restaurant was very welcoming, spacious, and clean. We were seated and had our order put in within a few minutes. I had the Pho Chin which was absolutely delicious, the meat was very flavorful and just melted away with the rich broth. We ordered our meals, and the server pretty much ignored us until it was time to pay, yet the 4 tables who were seated after us got all the attention. I had heard good things about Pho Nam in Old Town Alexandria, so last night I tried it for the first time. I ordered ahead of time on the phone and when I went in to pick up my takeout, I was warmly greeted by two staff members. It's easy to tell they're a friendly, family-owned restaurant. They were out of brisket so I ordered the beef flank pho, and I was blown away. The broth was definitely the star of the show--it was so flavorful! Plenty of noodles & toppings were included. I get the same thing in Eden center and caphe Bahn mi it it's probably double the size, fresher ingredients. It was just flat. I can't speak on the pho, because I haven't tried that. Quite nice on a cold or sunny day in Alexandria. I have had many Pho restaurants in the Arlington/Falls Church and Alexandria area and this one is by far better than any of those. What stood out the most is the broth of the Pho... it was clean and very flavorful. Tbh, the only good place to eat on King Street that is affordable. Great service and a family friendly environment. They are also really clean and take a lot of precautions to make you feel comfortable dining in with covid rates sky rocketing. FYI... I am Vietnamese and quite critical when it comes to Vietnamese food, especially Pho. read more

I don't eat Vietnamese food that often. But this place was recommended to me by someone who does so I decided to try it. I believe the establishment is new. My husband and I came here for dinner. I thought we were going to share meals but that didn't happen lol. We ordered 2 shrimp rolls (1 order comes with 2 rolls) and 2 entrees. I had a chicken bahn mi and he had a noodle dish. The food was so good and flavorful I had to run it back the next day. Since my initial visit, I have been here probably 5 times in 1.5 months.
