I've only had Vietnamese food a couple times in my life, but I was very satisifed with this place. I had the pho with beef, and my friends had chicken noodles and the pork chop. I visisted saigon surface for a late lunch this afternoon and was for sure balistic with the fresh rolls which had a strange smellllllll,i did inform the waiter who mentioned it to me that it was the mint that was smelling and i can tell you kindly being a culinarian myself rice paper does not stink ,more so its better that you wash your hands before making rolls or use a clean surface to roll them on. Furthur more being a new restaurant if you cannot except complaints you better be sure you are in the right industry,if you looks could kill from the mother daughter combination it would however imm happy i enjoyed my Pho and left without having to deal with the speaking to the managment. read more

We have been getting take out from here for many years. I can not attest to plate presentation or table service, but I can say the food is always fantastic! Ate lunch with my 4 kids (3-10). Service was slow, but all 4 kids devoured what they got. We eat a bit of vietnamese foods at home and try to find restaurants with the same, as my daughter needs gluten free. We got the Tofu Salad (all kids and me liked), Spring rolls (had them make vegetarian) and egg rolls and the shrimp/pork noodle bowl. My 3 year old ate the whole bowl (probably 2-3 c worth of food!). Service was slow...the host was our waiter as well as many of the other tables' waiter. We had a big round table that sat 7 with a lazy suzan in the middle for passing around the food. Decor was fine (lantern bulbs over tables, bamboo throughout), bathroom clean, generally clean. My kids want to know how soon we can go back! read more

First lets start by how nice it looks when you walk in. Statues, frames on the walls, the lights, and a little water fountain. Gives it an exotic Asian feel. Very clean place and it looks like they out a lot of effort into making it look nice. I felt very comfortable there. The tall booth seats are great if you don't like others seeing you or you don't want to see other people eating at separate tables. The waiters/servers/workers are very friendly. Also excellent service, I did not once have to ask for a refill. They were on it! The food selection was difficult since there were a lot of delicious things to chose from. Vermicelli bowl is just okay in my opinion. Kinda sparse on the chicken and they serve it layered with salad on the bottom, then noodles, then chicken, which I felt made it difficult to eat. House Special Hot Pot. This is what I ordered. It was just hot water and some shrimp, mussels, squid and veggies. I saw the price at $17.50 and thought to myself... Wow. This has to be the bomb. Not so much. It was a hot water bland mixture. I was surprised that if it didn't have a broth - since pho does - that I would at least be offered sauces to add. Nope. Why would I pay $17.50 for hot water and stuff??? Rather, I could get pho with more flavor for nearly half the price. I did get egg rolls. They were better than average. They skimp on sauces and you get one napkin. Hello! Where's the napkin dispenser at the table? Ok. If I'm eating on break for work. I get a quick mess on my shirt. My fingers were wiped with fish sauce, do I want to run that one napkin on me to clean up? Never once did the two young waitresses check in on me after taking my order. My family and I have been here many times, It used to be the best in our eyes but it seems like the quality has gone down the last couple of months. Maybe it depends on the cook because on this particular day we received overcooked wontons and burnt pork-chops. But I hope it was just a bad day. Also for some reason they decided to add gratuity on to my bill and I explained to them that they can recommend but are not suppose to add. The manager said it was the owner that told them to add it because they were having problems with groups of 5 or more not leaving tips. I said that's not my problem because I usually leave a tip but I can't speak for the same for everyone else. But when the receipt printed out there was another option to leave a tip she said I didn't need to add any more, I said I wasn't going to anyways! My family has been going here for a long time so I am very disappointed to write this review. Service is horrible. Waitress must not be familiar with the menu and refused to even consider changing what she messed up. Ordered the beef pho soup and the bowl was small and bland. The vegetables that come on the side were dry and showed obvious signs of wilting. Obvious that food has been sitting around and isn't the fresh. Appetizer plate and drinking glass were dirty and needed to be replaced. Not all the bubble tea flavored were listed and the tapioca beads were mushy. The portions are decent but it is more pricier than what I am used to in the bay area. I stopped by for lunch and was greeted very quickly and asked if I preferred a table or a booth. I immediately think better of a restaurant that offers the option instead of putting you where they want or where is most convenient for them, especially over the lunch hour when they typically have less staff on hand. I ordered a water, which was brought out very quickly and ordered a cup of their egg drop soup and their Shrimp Vermicelli. The soup took a little while, but when it did come out it was piping hot. I had to let it cool down a little bit and was about halfway done eating it when my entrée arrived. I opted to skip finishing the soup and dove right into the Vermicelli bowl. The flavors were fresh and crisp, though I did decide to add a little bit of the hoisin and sriracha, that were already available on the table. The addition of more sauce completed this meal. The grilled shrimp were cooked perfectly and I will definitely be back. I didn't have the appetite for the spring rolls on this trip, but have heard really good things about them. I will be trying them next time. Pros- flavors, freshness, and how quick everything came out Cons- I would have liked to have finished my soup prior to the entrée coming out and I did have to wait a little while for a cashier at the end of the meal. After having been loyal customers for over 6 years, taking many out of towners and family members to this restaurant and spending countless dollars, we were highly disappointed when a takeout order we placed was incomplete when we got home. I called the restaurant and let them know we were missing part of the order, they told us we could come get it, but we explained that we would have to drive all the way across town. We were told that we would receive a free Pho next time we were in. I stopped by a few days later to pick up some rice paper. The next time we went in we explained to our waitress our situation, she went to the kitchen, came back and said because we had picked up the rice paper that we would not be getting a Pho at no charge. We finished our meal, paid and have not and will not be back. After having been loyal customers for so long and bringing so much business with us, we would have thought correcting a mistake on their part would have been the right thing to do. Shame on you!!!! We were out in the storm last night with tornado sirens going off. Our original plans were to eat at Saigon but we also needed to take shelter. They originally told us to come in after the door was locked. My boyfriend assisted his elderly mother out of the car. He then pulled over to a parking spot to let us pull up (we came in two separate vehicles). He got my daughter out of the car and was starting to help me when they started to motion to stop. When we came in the waiter told us his manager or owner told him to tell us they were closing due to the weather and we had to go. We said we didn't even have to eat we just needed to get out of the storm. They still made us leave. They sent an elderly lady, a young girl and a couple back out in the heart of the storm. Nothing else was open and we ended up having to take shelter underneath a bridge!!!! We are or should I say were regular customers and you treated us like this. Never again will I eat at your restaurant. I work at a food establishment and I assure you, my boss would NEVER send away someone let alone in a tornado!!!!!!! read more

Sign outside the restaurant said Best Vietnamese food..gotta disagree, and while the food really isn't bad there are other/better options in Omaha. Interior looks like an asian-influenced diner (it's the booth seats). There was a fly around us for awhile which isn't the best sign in a restaurant. The service was slow and our server refused to give rice instead of noodles for one entree (I know changing items/ingredients in a dish can be a pet peeve for restaurant owners/workers so I try to avoid it but something like rice instead of noodles when both are plentiful at this kind of restaurant seemed like it shouldn't be an issue but it was a major issue here. The server flat out refused and after a few questions basically said it was impossible to do). After convincing our server to just not give me any noodles and instead give me a side of rice (get it? big difference right) he agreed but after all the fuss I went with a different entree that he suggested. The bbq chicken was really good, plenty of chicken and rice. The pork pho was a little sweet but good. The summer rolls (which i think they called fresh spring rolls) were so-so and might not be worth getting again. All in all the food was really not bad but better service and cleaning up the place would make it more likely worth a repeat visit. read more

We had a party of 8. This was our first Vietnamese food experience in Omaha. The service was great. Unfortunately the food was not. My husband got the black pepper beef. We thought that being in a vietnamese restaurant the dish would be vietnamese. (Usually the beef is cubed and carmelized in french butter with a nice pink center.) It was more like a food to go chinese dish. The sauce was overwhelming with cornstarch while the carrots and green bell pepper were overcooked. I ordered the "quang" noodle since they had a picture of it as their specialty. I'm from central Vietnam where the noodle dish got it's name from. I was expecting something remotely similar. The waitress asked if I wanted rice or egg noodle and that shouldve been a red flag that it's not authentic. "My quang" is usually made with chow fun noodles. The broth was bland while the chicken was overcooked. I did not see pork in there. The selection of veggies also did not match the dish. Other people at the table got pho or hu tieu My Tho. The My Tho (city in the south VN) native at the table of course was not happy with it either. Unfortunately we have not found an authentic Vietnamese restaurant in Lincoln or Omaha. read more
