THE GOOD ---------------- + Solid Vietnamese food and tasted better than my 1st experience here. ++++ Viet Paella Fried Rice - On their Specials menu. Lot of shrimp and other seafood. Good flavor to the fried rice and there was PLENTY of it. Definitely an interesting take on your traditional paella. ++++ Grilled Chicken Pho - Excellent pho and flavorful broth. Chicken was tender and tasty. ++++ Saigon Spicy Noodles with Crispy Pork Belly - Was OK. Basically a spicy chow fun with 5 large slices of pork belly laid on top of it. It wasn't bad, but nothing stood out either. + Menu consist of what most would consider traditional Vietnamese food, with the pho being what most people order. + Interior is spacious and the tables are all well spaced out. THE NOT SO GOOD ---------------------------- - Extremely "informal" service. ---- The young waiters and waitresses are all business here. Not much pleasantries or check ins while you're dining. Some might like this no frills approach, but I prefer a more personable dining experience. - No private parking lot, as is the case for most restaurants in Fort Lee. MIXED THOUGHTS --------------------------- = Nada. RANDOM OBSERVATIONS -------------------------------------- = Came by at 5:30 PM on a freeeeezing January Saturday evening and it was already crowded at 6 PM. There was a decent amount of people waiting, but within 15 minutes most of them were seated.
The Xtra large phoe was amazing. The rib meat just melted it's soon as I picked up using the chopsticks. It literally broke apart. The soup was clear broth served in just right temperature. The garnish was freshly chopped with jalapeño slices and bean sprouts served in cold. You gotta try this place. I am too full to try anything else but if I had a room...I definitely try more. Oh the service was also prompt and friendly. The atmospheres is eccentric with vietmese bicycle as a central display.
Mehhh, I hate having a disappointing meal. I was really craving pho, so I decided to check out Saigon Kitchen, a Vietnamese eatery located in the heart of Fort Lee. The restaurant has a casual and cozy atmosphere with touches of traditional decor like bamboo sticks, wooden furniture, and open spaces with natural light. There are tables and booths to accommodate both small and large groups. I came in as a solo diner on a weekday afternoon and was seated immediately. There can be long wait times during peak dining hours, so I suggest coming earlier if you don't want to wait for a while. The menu has your classic Vietnamese dishes like pho, banh mi, shaken beef cubes, lemongrass chicken, etc. They also have specialty Asian fusion dishes. Prices are fair and there's a 5% cash discount. No complaints on the service. The servers are very friendly and warm. They start you off with complimentary hot tea. My food came out quickly. I ordered... *Lemongrass Beef Grilled Skewers $9.95 (includes 2 skewers, spring onion, fried onion flakes, & soy bean peanut sauce) - The flavors were SO OFF. The peanut sauce had a funky taste. It barely tasted like peanuts. I don't know if they used too much vinegar or sugar, but either way... the ingredients were completely unbalanced! The lemongrass marinade was not good at all. Meat that's been marinated with lemongrass usually has a very fragrant, tangy, and smoky aroma... this was not the case here. There was an overpowering minty/herbal/grassy flavor. Did they forget to add in shallots, garlic, fish sauce, brown sugar, lime, or soy sauce???? The beef was a bit tough and chewy... not tender at all. *Pho Beef Combo (Phở Dặc Biệt) (includes beef broth, rice noodles, eye of round steak, brisket, tripe, tendon, meatballs, white onion, cilantro, & scallions with side of raw bean sprouts, thai basil, jalapeno pepper, & lime) $16.95 - This was decent... not bad, but not amazing. To my disappointment, the broth wasn't that aromatic, hot, or flavorful. It did not taste very beefy and the toasted spices like star anise, cinnamon, and coriander didn't shine through. Some of the cuts of beef were too chewy. The flat rice noodles were silky and fresh. They give you a lot of noodles and broth, but the meat portion is skimpy. I didn't enjoy my pho, so I had half of the bowl left over. I hate wasting food, so I packed it up and gave it to someone else LOL. Not a terrible experience overall, but not memorable or great either. The staff is sweet and the ambiance is super homey... but the food was a disappointment. It didn't hit the spot and it didn't stand out from other Vietnamese restaurants I've been to...Maybe I have to try other dishes or give them a second shot...? I'm not completely crossing this place off my list, but I'm not sure if I'd come back when there's better options in the area.
Every time I order from here, it feels a bit like a surprise. The recipes don't seem entirely consistent. Sometimes the texture of the chicken changes, other times the sauce does. This time around, the chicken was less crispy than my previous order and much more heavily sauced. That said, it was still incredibly tasty. However, both my husband and I experienced some stomach discomfort and bloating afterward, despite ordering different dishes. I hadn't had this reaction before, so I'm not sure if it was related to an ingredient like MSG or just an off night. I do wish there were more consistency overall, but I was genuinely pleased with the portion size this time; it was noticeably larger and felt like a great value. I'll continue ordering from here because I really enjoy the flavors, and it's still the best Vietnamese food I've found so far in the Fort Lee area.
Food was wonderful, as were the servers! The place itself was clean and had amazing huge windows so super bright in there! Would definitely recommend this place if you're near.
Great service, I loved that they also serve hot tea instead of cold tap water. The beef rib pho was a good portion and the soup was fine - it was slightly bland though. The broth was a luke warm temperature whip I was surprised by. I asked around and everyone else's pho broth was also like warm. Temperature makes a big difference in pho because it brings out the different spices.
Once again I was underwhelmed by my bowl of pho. How things have changed. What used to be a fragrant and tasty broth is now now mild and in serious need of doctoring in order to give is decent flavor. Placed a pickup order and restaurant was packed on a snowy afternoon. Will try ordering something else in hopes of getting a more flavorful meal.
- Street parking only; can be challenging during the dinner rush in this busy area - Busy on a Saturday evening; we arrived around 5:30pm and were seated immediately, but a wait began forming before 6pm - Warm lighting and moderate noise level - Decent amount of seating with tables spaced comfortably apart; a few semi-cozy nooks with larger tables that work well for bigger parties - Slight draft inside from the wintry evening every time the door was opened - Service was nonchalant and purely transactional--very much a "get in, order, eat, and get out" vibe; no check-ins after food was served, and we had to grab our own containers to pack up leftovers - Food was OK: Viet "Paella" Fried Rice (limited-time specials menu) had rich seafood flavor and was generously portioned; Saigon Spicy Noodles with Crispy Pork Belly (specials menu) was disappointing with noodles that were unevenly cooked and under-seasoned, and the pork belly skin wasn't crispy, instead hard and chewy; Grilled Chicken Pho was enjoyable overall--broth had good depth and the chicken was well-seasoned and moist - Only one restroom in the restaurant, and it could've used more attention in terms of cleanliness; it was also a bit stressful when taking our toddler in--someone started banging on the door repeatedly just seconds after we locked it...
I came here for lunch with friends and had a good meal! The interior is spacious, with lots of tables for groups of different sizes. Service here is pretty quick, and good. We ordered their spring rolls, salad rolls, and lemongrass wings for appetizers and for entrees, we tried their BBH, vermicelli bowl, and fried rice. Their spring rolls were solid but I felt like the rice paper was a bit hard. Their other appetizers were also decent but nothing crazy. Their entrees were really good portions and full of meat and veggies, which I loved. Although the BBH broth wasn't bad, I noticed that they used the wrong type of noodle for the soup (they used pho noodles). Their vermicelli bowl was good though! And, their fried rice (which I typically wouldn't order) was actually a favorite at our table.
Been here a couple times and really enjoyed my meal. Last time I came here I got the regular pho with beef and brisket ($13.95) and the soup base alone was very tasty. There is a good amount of beef and brisket that comes with it. The table has sriracha and hoisin sauce, that's all you really need. Also the fried calamari is soooo good, finished it quick. Overall I had a good experience and I would recommend this place if you are in the mood for pho. * Good service * Municipal parking * Unisex restroom
My husband's family and I have been here multiple occasions. We absolutely love the food here. If you're coming here at night time, be prepared to wait. That was our first mistake the first time we tried to come here at night with no reservation. Since we were a party of 6 with 3 additional little ones, we couldn't be seat for a while. Since then, we usually come here midday around 4pm. The food is delicious. Big portion so the prices of the food are reasonable. The staff here are always nice. Fun fact, there is where my now husband and I brought his parents to tell them we wanted their blessings to get married.
We were back at SK for Sunday lunch. We walked in few minutes after opening, so got a table right away. The restaurant got almost full within next 15 minutes. The restaurant as usual, was super clean, organized and filled with wonderful decors. This time I had couple of new items that I didn't try before. The chicken wings were surprisingly really good. Soft moist chicken with layer of crispy skin. Then I had the grilled rice platter with chicken, beef and shrimp. The plate came with huge chunks of rice, lettuce, cabbage, cucumbers, tomatoes and of course the delicious fish sauce. Loved everything in the plate, tasted so good. Service was excellent. They always check on the guests, clean out empty plates, refill tea/water cups. Food came out super quick. Overall it was another great family lunch at SK for us.
Saigon kitchen consistently delivers good quality food. We have been here for many years. Very authentic Vietnamese food. The coffee is super powerful. Thai ice tea has strong milk flavor. Clean and spacious inside. We had a group of 5 so they gave us a section at the back. The staff were always nice and friendly. Very attentive. I will recommend to go by opening time otherwise you might have to wait for a while for a table.

Overall 3.5/5 Pho quality is alright but prob the best in the fort lee area Their pho noodle quality seem to have gotten worse too..sigh We tried their shrimp on sugarcane which was surprisingly good! It was different and loved the flavors! Tip to bring cash for discount! read more
This is my go to restaurant in the area!! I love their vermicelli platter with spring rolls. The portions are so generous. I always leave feeling very satisfied and happy. There are ample tables so I have never had to wait to be seated. However, it can get busy during the popular dining hours. Servers are attentive and food comes out quick. I would definitely recommend this place to everyone! read more

I would definitely recommend Saigon Kitchen if you want some classic Vietnamese dishes with very fair prices. The service here is always superb and the restaurant is clean/maintained well. I always go with the beef + brisket pho. The pho is delicious and always hits the spot, especially on a cold winter day. The beef skewers are a great appetizer to start with; they are juicy, sweet and savory. I also recommend the vietnamese spring rolls and crab fried rice. read more

Wanted to try this Vietnamese restaurant because it was nearby. We ordered the traditional pho, bun bo hue and spring rolls and the food could've been better. - the traditional pho broth lacked depth in flavor - the traditional pho had what appears to be a homemade beef ball, but it was too spongy and all you can taste is black pepper. - the bun bo hue lacked the original tomato base flavors in the soup and was just spicy. - the spring rolls are horrible. Spring rolls should be lightly fried and crispy, but these were so burnt, I feel like I wasted my money. read more

This is just for the Pho ($13). We have been to most Vietnamese noodle places in Fort Lee, Palisades Park, & Tenafly ...and very recently one in Cliffside Park. Some can be quite confusing since they all begin with "Saigon" ^^ But, this one in Fort Lee was disappointing. Not much beef brisket - 3 pieces. The broth was lacking flavor. With these, it was enough to give 3 stars. The staff was very attentive, possibly because we visited at 2 pm, and the place was quite quiet. Will write another review after visiting the newly opened one in Palisades Park. read more
Cute big open space restaurant with indoor tables that aren't crowded as well as outdoor tables at the front. This place has like 3 exits/entrances--people pop in from all sides, it was great. I love the variety here and everything I ate was deliciously prepared. For starters we ordered the papaya salad, sugarcane shrimp, and Vietnamese wings. The papaya salad was so refreshing and crunchy I couldn't get it in my mouth fast enough. The sugarcane shrimp was PLUMP and JUICY. The Vietnamese wings were all crunchy flats, stacked up, slightly sweet and super yummy...I could eat a trough of them. The Caramelized basa had plenty of white fish filets and delicious crunchy bok choy. For the combo rice platter you can choose 3 proteins from chicken, pork, beef, or shrimp. We also tried 2 desserts, coconut jelly and the flan. The flan was definitely delicious but the coconut jelly was outstanding and a refreshing treat after a big meal. Nibble off a piece of the mint after all that and you'll leave incredibly satisfied. I WILL come back. read more

Came here for the first time after craving a nice hot bowl of pho, and ordered the X-large pho Dac Biet, the classic staple of any self-respecting viet resturant that serves pho. I would recommend the "beef combo" variation over the original, as it adds meatballs, tripe, and steak to the mix, offering much more flavor and texture. Service was great, and the pho came very quickly, which I always love to see especially since the restaurant was very crowded. Hot tea is served here by default instead of cold water , which is appreciated with the winter time. The pho itself wasn't anything remarkable, but definitely hit the comfort food vibe and satisfied my craving. The broth is on the lighter, cleaner side, and onions and scallions are plentiful. I was slightly disappointed with the amount of meat that came with the extra large dac biet though read more

We ordered 3 cups of ice coffee .. this is the worst we got. So many coffee residual,taste nothing authentic, like they divide one cup into 3 because it's closing. Will never come back again. You better off just get Dunkin donuts.... My whole family is mad Don't recommend this business. read more
Love this place! Cute and simple decor with an open layout. The food is prepared quickly and comes hot, with attention to detail in presentation! The fried rice itself was flavorful and the meats were juicy, grilled nicely with char. Overall not too salty, but full of flavor. Thai iced tea was sweet and full of richness. We found this place by accident when we were looking for another restaurant we went before. This could be the only Vietnamese restaurant around here, not sure. They offered lunch specials. We ordered summer rolls for an appetizer. It was pretty good and refreshing! Then I had garlic shrimp and Hubby had Banh Mi with chicken. My garlic shrimp was excellent and Hubby liked it much more than me. I tried his Banh Mi and that was quite good too. The service was excellent. It was half and half, formal and informal. The restaurant was spacious and offered private rooms for a group or two. I think I'll come back to try other dishes. read more
Update! Still love this place! The curry noodle is delicious there is ample curry flavor and wasn't overwhelming the vegetarian pho is always good the broth is so savory and abundant with fresh vegetables always a treat to come here! My friend and I stopped by earlier today for lunch and were seated right by the windows/sunroom area. The natural lighting and interior decor really created such a nice ambience which I don't think I've ever really experienced at a Vietnamese restaurant before! We ordered spring rolls, pho, and their pork vermicelli. While spring rolls are a bit pricey for 4 pieces, the portion sizes for both the pho and pork vermicelli were quite generous. But, I will say the spring rolls were perfectly filled and fried. Overall, the meal really hit the spot on a chilly day. read more

After a relaxing morning at King Spa, I decided to check out Saigon Kitchen in Fort Lee. I started off with the shrimp summer rolls, which came as two large pieces cut in half. Everything tasted very fresh, and they gave a good amount of peanut sauce to go with the summer rolls. For my entrée, I ordered the pork pho bowl. This meal was so flavorful. I did not want to stop eating it, especially since it was a decent price. They really give a great amount of meat and rice noodles. They also give the standard bean sprouts, lime, and basil on the side. Personally, I like onions in moderation, and there were a lot of onions in my bowl of pho. I didn't mind the flavor, but I did have to take some of them out because it became a little overwhelming. I still ended up eating almost the entire bowl and would get this dish again. I would just ask for a little bit of onion next time. If you are in the neighborhood and looking for some delicious Vietnamese cuisine, this is a great spot to go to. read more
First time at Saigon Kitchen and I was very impressed by how clean and spacious this restaurant is. Plenty of tables and seating, they also have booth seating off to the side. We came in for dinner at around 6pm and it was not that busy. The waiter was attentive and stopped by often to replenish the water and ask how the food was. Staff was very friendly. We ordered the spring rolls and steamed dumplings to start. The rice paper on the spring rolls were a bit on the thicker side but still tasted pretty good. Steamed dumplings were alright, great portion size for sharing amongst a group. Enjoyed the pickled veggies on top to mix up the flavors in the dish. I had the vermicelli platter with crispy pork belly. Pork belly was a bit on the fattier side. Fried rice was different because it had a lot of black pepper. Would recommend the shaken beef dish. My first time eating here and as a person who loves asian cuisine I can say that the service is great. The restaurant looks as good as new. We were greeted with a warm welcome, and with nice hot tea as well. The food is amazing, I got the beef, chicken and shrimp over rice special. Every bite I took felt like heaven. As for the drink, we got watermelon juice. It was okay but could've been better. Will definitely come here again, and parking is accessible because it is right up front. As someone who likes trying new things all the time, and this will become something that I will get often. read more
got the spring rolls and chicken vermicelli platter! The spring rolls were juicy with a super crispy outside. a shame that it only came with 4 pieces. The vermicelli platter was light and refreshing. I had to ask for sriracha and they provided individually packed little containers of sriracha which was thoughtful! it shows they're still doing their part in trying to prevent the spread of any germs. would definitely go back! read more

I've dined in about 4x in the past 4 years and really enjoyed my food and experience here. If I'm in the area I do try to find parking and have lunch or dinner. Parking can be tough. read more
I had wanted to try this place for a long time which is right by the parking lot on Main Street. I was happy that we finally got to go. What a wonderful experience. There were tables for outdoor dining but we opted for indoor. It's surprisingly spacious with some semi-private areas which turns out perfect during the pandemic to keep social distancing. We were seated right away. Service was quick and attentive. The beef combo just hit the spot with lots of ingredients. Clear broth just the way we liked it. I normally don't order pad Thai at a Vietnamese restaurant (can't remember if that's usually even on the menu). I was glad I ordered it and decided on having chicken. It was so tender!! Summer rolls were fresh. Fort Lee is running a gift card promotion to support 40 different local business and this restaurant is one of them. You buy a $25 gift card for only $15. At Saigon Kitchen, they stay true to their roots serving up authentic Vietnamese cuisine as well as Asian Fusion options. I love their homemade Pho, Banh Mi, and any dish that has their delicious grilled pork. They have outdoor seating open right now. It's safe, secluded off Main Street where you can enjoy your self in more of a private setting. If you wish to do take out it's worth it as well. Stumbled upon this spot with three of my friends when we were in Jersey and since it was a cold day, we figured pho would be the best. We did indoor dining and got seated right away at around 2:30PM on a Sunday. For food, we got the vermicelli noodle bowl with pork, green papaya salad, spring rolls (4 pc), and three bowls of spicy lemongrass soup. I really enjoyed the vermicelli bowl and all the ingredients tasted very fresh. My friends who got the spicy lemongrass soup said it was very flavorful and more on the spicy side. However, we felt that the appetizers could have been better - the spring rolls and the green papaya salad. The portions were a little smaller than expected. One of my friends got a viet cofffee and she said it was nice and strong. Overall, we still had a good experience and it was comfortable sitting inside. read more

I had one of the best meals here today. I had the pho house specialty and 2 servings of their spring rolls. I was told by friends to try it and so I decided to have it ubered to me. Would recommend to have it anywhere read more
A COVID era review: Indoor and outdoor seating is available. Seating areas are pretty well maintained and cleaned. Proper distancing enforced, not like some of those restaurants that have tables that look like desks in a Kindergarten class. Live in the era, been here countless times, especially after Bistro Du Saigon closed. The place is nice, never really had a bad experience. Gets quiet busy during peak hours, so be prepared if you're trying to keep your distance. Staff is nice. Would definitely recommend, just please remember to wear your masks. The Food: I've tried around half the menu. My favorites include: -Vermicelli Combo Bowl (3 meats/proteins) -Banh Mi (Pork) -Any of the Fried Rice The once in a while: -Beef Pho -Summer Rolls -Lemongrass Chicken Would not really suggest: -Curry Noodles -Pad thai I feel a little bad coming to viet places even though I don't like Pho that much. The Pho is good, I just don't eat Pho that often. The only foods I didn't really enjoy as much as the rest of the menu were the Curry Noodles and Pad thai. The curry noodles weren't very good and pretty dry. Pad thai was better than the curry noodles, but if you want pad thai there's plenty of other places you should go instead since its such a common food. read more

Did this place change owners? We used to come here often years ago and the staff is different (Korean now?). My wife and I decided to come back and give this place a try. She used to love the pho in this restaurant, and we had a relationship with the staff a few years, maybe decades ago? I ordered the pork chop. The first problem was the rice. On one side, the rice was hard. This is what happens to rice when you leave it exposed to air, or in the rice cooker for too long. What I couldn't figure out is why they would serve the rice to a customer like that instead of making a new batch. We also ordered the calimari as an appetizer. It was partly soggy, the entire dish. Did it not sit in the fryer long enough, did steam hit it, not enough breading, who knows. Lastly, my wife ordered a pho. She said the taste was lackluster and didn't seem authentic. It was not as she remembered it, and she said another outfit in town tasted better. The spring rolls as pictured were ok. But are they supposed to be small two or three inch rolls to be wrapped up in lettuce --traditionally and typical? What happened? I am not sure what changed, if anything. But just not happy with any of our dishes tonight. read more
I've ordered takeout from here a few times since my last review and recently dined in (June 2022). Quality seems to be consistently declining. Unfortunately, this is no longer the best banh mi we've ever had. There is very little meat now, and the bread doesn't seem fresh, nor is it properly toasted as a banh mi should be. The grilled meats that are served with vermicelli or rice are all dry. I think they cook everything ahead of time and either leave it under a heat lamp, or reheat it. Either way, it definitely does not taste like it is cooked to order. My husband got the pad Thai, which I've always been intrigued by but was never brave enough to order this at a Vietnamese restaurant. But I was pleasantly surprised. The portion was a nice size and the noodles had a nice flavor. The only downside is if you pick a protein, they grab it from the same pile of pre-made meats used for the noodles/rice. He ordered it with beef and it was literally a pile of grilled beef on top, instead of it being sautéed with the noodles. I would probably order this again but opt for tofu instead. I finally tried the Spicy Lemongrass soup this time, and really liked it. It wasn't too spicy and had just the right about of lemongrass flavor (without any lemongrass bits in the soup). I may come back but the only items I'll order are the cha gio, soup (including the pho), or pad Thai. read more
