This is my go to restaurant in the area!! I love their vermicelli platter with spring rolls. The portions are so generous. I always leave feeling very satisfied and happy. There are ample tables so I have never had to wait to be seated. However, it can get busy during the popular dining hours. Servers are attentive and food comes out quick. Cute big open space restaurant with indoor tables that aren't crowded as well as outdoor tables at the front. This place has like 3 exits/entrances--people pop in from all sides, it was great. I love the variety here and everything I ate was deliciously prepared. For starters we ordered the papaya salad, sugarcane shrimp, and Vietnamese wings. The papaya salad was so refreshing and crunchy I couldn't get it in my mouth fast enough. The sugarcane shrimp was PLUMP and JUICY. The Vietnamese wings were all crunchy flats, stacked up, slightly sweet and super yummy...I could eat a trough of them. The Caramelized basa had plenty of white fish filets and delicious crunchy bok choy. For the combo rice platter you can choose 3 proteins from chicken, pork, beef, or shrimp. We also tried 2 desserts, coconut jelly and the flan. The flan was definitely delicious but the coconut jelly was outstanding and a refreshing treat after a big meal. I've been here several times now and always get the pho with rare steak. It's consistently good every time. The service is okay... sometimes they can be forgetful especially when it's busy and you're with a large group. The Vietnamese iced coffee comes in a cool little contraption that I've never seen at other restaurants. You let it steep into a cup (which contains condensed milk), stir, and pour over ice. I did not want to stop eating it, especially since it was a decent price. They really give a great amount of meat and rice noodles. They also give the standard bean sprouts, lime, and basil on the side. Personally, I like onions in moderation, and there were a lot of onions in my bowl of pho. I didn't mind the flavor, but I did have to take some of them out because it became a little overwhelming. I still ended up eating almost the entire bowl and would get this dish again. There were tables for outdoor dining but we opted for indoor. It's surprisingly spacious with some semi-private areas which turns out perfect during the pandemic to keep social distancing. We've been coming to Saigon Kitchen nearly every week for over three years. My husband is a Pho snob who knows the flavor and we've tasted authentic Vietnamese food. Did this place change owners? We used to come here often years ago and the staff is different (Korean now?). My wife and I decided to come back and give this place a try. She used to love the pho in this restaurant, and we had a relationship with the staff a few years, maybe decades ago? I ordered the pork chop. The first problem was the rice. On one side, the rice was hard. This is what happens to rice when you leave it exposed to air, or in the rice cooker for too long. What I couldn't figure out is why they would serve the rice to a customer like that instead of making a new batch. We also ordered the calimari as an appetizer. It was partly soggy, the entire dish. Did it not sit in the fryer long enough, did steam hit it, not enough breading, who knows. Lastly, my wife ordered a pho. She said the taste was lackluster and didn't seem authentic. It was not as she remembered it, and she said another outfit in town tasted better. The spring rolls as pictured were ok. But are they supposed to be small two or three inch rolls to be wrapped up in lettuce --traditionally and typical? What happened? I am not sure what changed, if anything.
