Okay... so I love pho. However this pho happened to be very oily and I could NOT get past that taste. You can see in the photos how oily the broth is. Also the noodles were clumped together which is normal, however normally they separate and loosen when put in the broth for a little and these stayed clumped together to the point that the texture was pretty bad. Needless to say I did not finish my bowl. I also ordered some Thai tea which was not bad I will say. I would try adding a little bit more cream to it. For ridgecrest, this is probably as good as it's gonna get but, for me personally I will just wait till I do my "once a month drive to San Diego" to get my pho down there. read more

This restaurant has gone through many owner and staff changes over the years. Back in August of 2023 when I wrote a 5-star review, the food was full of flavor. However, now it is greasy and, therefore, flavorless which is sad for a Vietnamese-Thai fusion place. I can't recommend it anymore as such. Their Thai food taste good, large amount for good price. I like their combination or seafood Thai noodle soup. Good flavor, lots of food ( so much meat, shrimp, eggs, meatball, squid) for around $10. I just moved from the Bay Area to ridgecrest and have been looking for good Thai noodle soup but very few places have it. I am happy this place have it. If they want to make this noodle soup more Thai flavor, less on the salt and a little more on the sugar. Don't order this dish at Bangkok restaurant. Disappointed this evening. I've just wanted to try this sticky mango rice since friends have posted photos, it looks delicious and unique. I call at 6pm-ish: Gentlemen answers the phone, tells me kitchen closes at 8:30. I call back at 8:15, cutting it close but still, the restaurant closes at 9:00 pm. Besides the food being good and decent there is a long list of reasons as to why this place is bad. My first time going with friends and we waited 2 hours for food!!! It's ridiculous and we were starving. Here are the reasons: 1) waited at least 15 mins to get the menus 2) the waitress said she will give us water with lemons instead we got bottled water weird and that took another 15 mins. 3) finally ordered our food and as we were waiting a little more than an hour we noticed legit every single person who came after us all got their damn food BEFORE US! Everyone ate and paid before us when we came long before them. We waited little more than an hour to barely get our appetizers. 4) asked the waitress where our entrees are at she said its ready and coming out now. We noticed she forgot and barely was putting in our order hour and a half later! Clearly 30 mins later I asked again still waiting and angry and the food finally came but still took several minutes for each of us to get our meals. It was not all at once I was last to be served from the group. 5) we noticed one of us asked for fried rice with chicken which never came and had to tell them they forgot and once it came there was no chicken! 6) another way earlier asked for thai tea and legit the waitress said she will bring it then and there! Guess what 15 mins later we asked again where is the tea? Took ANOTHER 15 MINS LATER to bring the damn tea! 7) I legit got house special which the waitress clearly knew and some other lady in the back brought my meal and I was missing my egg roll which comes with house special and she said no I didn't order house special and I said YES I DID! So they brought it out for me at last. Overall took a good 2 hours to finally eat and pay and we left ZERO tip which they deserve and was super BAD BAD BAD service being forgotten about. We asked to knock off our appetizer off the check since overall this was bad service because of waiting forever and legit screwing the order up and legit brought us someone's else order but a rude other lady didn't let me explain why we want it off she just looked angry and took it off our bill. So lady if you're reading this clearly these are our reasons why we we were angry and zero tip and wanted a small little appetizer to be off. read more

For this being so far from a city of 200,000 people or so, I'm surprised at how good it is. I had arrived in town a couple of hours earlier and was walking to get a feel for what was here. I saw this place and it got me thinking about a number of dishes. Being next to an Asian grocery, fresh came to mind. There was a man behind the cash register, on the phone. He held up one finger and I held up one finger and he pointed to "anywhere", so I picked a table. About that time, I noticed a call on my phone--a naturalist had a guided trip to Death Valley and I needed to talk to her, so I called. I hate, hate, hate when people can't do the business that they need to do at a business, but I needed to talk to her. He finished his call and came to the table, and asked what I wanted to drink. I responded with "VietNamese coffee" and he asked "hot or iced?" to which I answered "iced". In a while, I noticed that people who arrived after me were already receiving drinks. He was running around the restaurant like a chicken with his head cut off, as my grandmother used to say. It didn't seem that busy, but some people deal with stress differently. He took my order for Pho Tom (prawn/shrimp). I didn't order any spring rolls and I noticed that they had Filipino Pancit and Lumpia and other not so VietNamese items. After quite a while, he returned with the pho, a plate with bean sprouts, pepper slices, and a lime slice, plus the coffee. The food was good. The coffee seemed a bit thin, but good also. I went to the cash register to pay, not waiting for the check to arrive. The waiter seemed perturbed and I said something to make him feel a little less overwhelmed and his response was unhappy. The rice was good but had no veggies and we added chile garlic sauce for more flavor. The sweet and sour chicken was not prepared in a traditional Chinese manner. I think this establishment is owned by Thai people but they decided to add Vietnamese and Chinese food items to their menu. Their Thai noodles were appreciated by the group after all, and I think they were speaking Thai in the back kitchen. I decided to go the Vietnamese route here. The Bun with grilled pork and an egg roll I ordered was a bit strange, but still decent. Chicken was not marinated and only seasoned and then grilled, so a bit bland and boring. It's hard to mess up the other fresh ingredients in the bowl, including the noodles, so no complaints there. The fish sauce though was strangely dark and not nearly as fishy as I like it! Honestly, I cannot say enough great things about this business! I ate there once when I was in town visiting my brother and the curry I had was delicious. This is one of his favorite restaurants in the area. I live out-of-state, so I called to order a gift card for my brother for Christmas. The woman who answered the phone was SO friendly and when I mentioned that I was needing to pay over the phone and have her hold it for my brother until sometime next month because he's in the military and traveling, she told me she was going to write "military discount" on the internal note so that the employee would give him a discount so that it "goes a little further". She then also told me that she was going to put it in a nice envelope and make sure that it looks nice for him and said she was going to keep him in her prayers and she was hoping for a safe return for safe travels for him. She asked me to thank him for his service & I told her that they are one of his favorite restaurants and she said they really appreciate it and look forward to having him back. I am very much so looking forward to going back to Saigon Flavor whenever I get the chance to visit my brother again and I'm grateful that they're there for him to enjoy! read more

As other reviewers have notes, the flavors lean heavily towards Thai rather than Vietnamese. They also offer lumpia and pancit which are Filipino, not Vietnamese. Not sure why they don't just rename the restaurant to reflect their style of food. Food: Pho Dac Biet (Beef combo) - the broth was WAY too sweet and there was not enough broth to noodle ratio. Onion slices need to be much thinner and the brisket was too think and not tender. I would exclude the brisket completely next time. The filet mignon was tender but again, not thin enough. Very little tripe and tendon. I had to request a chopstick.... who eats pho with a forks?! This is a harsh review, but I love and eat authentic pho to not critic this properly. 3/5 Mini Pho Bowl - perfect price point and size for my daughter. It only included the filet mignon which she enjoyed it very much. 5/5 Pad Thai - hubby loved his noodles served medium spicy with shrimp and chicken. Reminded him of our trip to Bangkok. Personally the noodles were a kettle soft to me, but flavors very good. Very large portion. 5/5 Overall, this was a great little place to stop by coming from a ski week in mammoth. Been disappointed in the last two orders. I ordered tofu with veggie Vietnamese fried rice and I made the big mistake of not checking my styrofoam dish in the bag while I was there. I came home and saw chicken pieces in my friend rice. Last time this happened I called and they replaced it but I had to waste gas and drive there. I'm sad I didn't try this place sooner because I love it! I've order to go from here twice and each time was great. I look forward to this being a regular comfort food place for me. The first time I got the vegetarian pho with tofu and vegetables. The broth, toppings, and portion was 10/10. The second time I went I got tofu Tom Kha which was great and also a Vietnamese veggie fried rice which was also very good. Can't wait to try more menu items but I'll definitely get the veggie pho frequently because it was so good. I would give 3.5 stars. The store is pretty clean and neat. The waiter is very friendly and nice. We ordered 4 combo phos, 1 beef pho, 2 chicken satays, and one larb. The chicken satay tastes amazing and is juicy and tender. The pho noodles are too soft and over cooked but the meat is pretty tender. The soup is tasty. The chicken larb is sour and spicy. This is unfortunate, as in the past I really liked this restaurant, highly recommended it, and went there often. But the past two times I have ordered takeout over the past 6 weeks, the food was subpar. Yesterday was worst. The Larb salad was not spicy at all, even though I ordered it as Thai Spicy. The color of the pork was gray-bland color as if there were no spices at all in it. The spring rolls, used to be the best, were completely lackluster. Just shrimp with lettuce rolled in rice paper. No carrot, no daikon, no cilantro, no glass noodles, nothing else. The dipping sauce was watered down and not dark brown and thick. Store bought peanut sauce is better. The pad thai was really dry, for some reason. Bahn mi wasn't really Bahn mi but a thinly made sandwich without much on it, inside a weak bun that didn't hold together. Sad because this place used to be the best and most diverse Asian food in town. I will wait a few more months and then read new reviews to see if it looks like it's getting back to better quality before I try them again. For now, I'll just have to home make my own Thai. read more

I started coming here earlier this year. Finding this Vietnamese restaurant in Ridgecrest was refreshing I started coming here for weekly for several months and then they hired this Guy Jason. He is a total douche bag. Working in a restaurant takes a certain type of personality and Jason is not that type of person. He cannot handle the fast pasted environment of a restaurant. Every time the phone rings he puts everyone on hold. Even if he is not actually busy. Every time you try to talk to him it's like you are bothering him. He is not cut out for this type of business. I witness him verbal abuse a "to go" driver picking up food to go. She asked him to put the food in the cold pak but he raised his voice and said he does not have time. Then he sits there at puts the next caller on hold. I enjoyed this place for awhile but stopped going here specifically because of Jason's attitude. He made the dining experience in this small place very uncomfortable. Their were several girls working here previously who were very friendly and nice. They would not crack under pressure like Jason does. I stopped coming here solely based on my experience with Jason. However the food was absolutely fabulous. read more

That big brown bowl the little girl has on the Yelp front page is Fake News. The actual bowl size are just a little bit bigger than half a soft ball. At least Saigon Flavor has flavor in its Pho soup but don't expect much else. They were barely any noodles in the small bowl and the Pho starts at $10 for this area. Literally, I maybe ate six small bites full of noodles and that was it, sadly I left unsatisfied and still hungry. What kept me entertained while I was eating was shooing away a fly trying to help eat my Pho. My husband and I order out from here quite often, we usually get the Pork Nam Tok and Pad Thai but today we decided to try the pho. My husband has had their pho before and his experience wasn't really great so we were hoping his last experience was just a once in a blue moon. It was a mistake, the pho was not worth getting and I've tried many before from the big city to little towns but this pho wasn't good. Maybe the pho was a dud this time around but it was beyond salty and oily and it had a lot of black bit I assume is from the charring from the vegetables used for the stock. The portion for the noodle was also very small just enough to satisfy a child. Not to mention the lime given to us was literally half of a slice and it was super dry with no juice.
