We just finished lunch at this fine family restaurant. Coming from NYC I can responsibly say this Vietnamese/Thai was amazing. The price is very reasonable and the size of the portion is large. The pad-gra pao was the best, so was the eggplant and basil (we ordered too much food the leftover of the eggplant was just as tasty as the first time). The Pho was large and had so much meat. Three of us shared this one bowl until we couldn't take one more sip of the soup. The Thai ice tea was very refreshing, not too sweet, so we had to order two. The green papaya salad was so fancy that it came with shrimp and beef jerkies. The only downside was the medium spicy was proven to be too spicy to us. The mom and pop owners were very pleasant and friendly. They came to chat with us and gave us some advice about what to see in the area. The restroom was super clean. The interior and exterior of the restaurant were well kept. It is obvious that the owners take a great care of the business and the guests. Therefore I highly recommend this restaurant to anyone who would like Southeast Asian cuisine. read more

To be honest .... what the hell is up with the guy server (white guy with black hair and glasses). He's extremely rude!! He always seems to be in a rush and not only speaks to customer horribly, he's even worse to his coworkers. I always come here and get take out because I love the Pho, but oh my gosh I don't want to deal with that guy!!! He is very rude and does not listen either. If you ask him a question he gives you a "stupid" look as if it hasn't registered in his brain yet then proceeds on speaking with a loud voice as if the customer is an inconvenience. I can't be the only one that gets concerned about the quality of food when traveling through unknown towns and being a vegetarian often complicates the matter even more. Well, this place gets a solid 4 from me. There were plenty of vegetarian options on the menu. The prices are great. The food was fresh and flavorful. My delicious vege pad thai had a ton of perfectly done veges and tofu. The noodles were perfectly cooked and the portion was ample. Our service was efficient and friendly. The bathroom was clean. Passing thru and sooooo hungry. Won't do fast food. We get on the Yelp and find this place in the middle of Ridgecrest, who knew. Cute place inside and good service. She had the pad thai with steamed tofu and I had Pho. Very happy with my Pho and i will say her pad Thai was very tasty and fresh. One more thing...they have this Thailand Mountain coffee. On the first sip I was unsure, but keep going, I really liked it. It has an earthy chocolatey taste which overall I enjoyed. Give this place a shot, you will not be sorry. read more

Drove out here for business and it's a small town in Ridgecrest. Happy to see there's a Pho business! The pho combo was flavorful, but the broth could have been less sweeter. The brisket was very tender. It's a place with a lot of military customers going in and out. So they stay busy. Food is fresh, but service isn't the best. We spent one night in Ridgecrest after visiting Trona Pinnacles and was starving after spending the entire day at Trona. We checked out Yelp and based on the high rating we decided to go. The place is simple and small but they have Thai and Vietnamese menus. We opted to go Thai and got the panang curry, pad thai and a fish dish and all were delicious. The curry had slivers of kaffir leaves that accented the flavor of curry. The Pad thai was just perfect and not too sweet and perfect balance of flavors. Actually this is a better Thai restaurant than what is available in my home town. The cooks were all Thai according to our servers which explains the authentic taste. Friendly service too. read more

Overall: 4.25/5 - Great local Thai place with it's quirks. Try it fam. Quality: 5/5 - It's more expensive than the average Thai restaurant, but for an establishment offering great Thai food in Ridgecrest, the price is more than acceptable. From their noodle dishes to their curries, all of their entrees are packed with great flavor. Their spice range could be more diverse, I find myself wanting even at their spiciest level, but it never detracts from the flavors in each dish. I've had my share of great Thai places and this is definitely a gem to be had in Ridgecrest. Cleanliness: 5/5 - I've yet to experience an occasion where I was concerned with the hygiene of the restaurant. Environment: 4/5 - Come knowing it's a small and busy place. With that in mind, it tends to be loud at times, but the ambiance/decor of the restaurant screams great local Thai joint; not a romantic dinner location. My advice would be to arrange the tables in a better fashion, but they do a pretty great job for what is available. Service: 3/5 - This is the only thing that I see that could use some improvement. The broth was really sweet. Service was a little slow during lunch, as they only had two servers. My table of three ordered 2 bowls of pho and some yellow curry. One bowl of pho came out, then the other one came about 8 minutes after, then the yellow curry after another 5 minutes. Those are big differences in serve time. I love the food at this place. Ashlie and the guys take excellent care of customers and are very attentive. My favorites are the drunken noodles, Chicken Pho (especially when I'm ill with a cold), shrimp Pancit and now the spring rolls. My mom turned me on to the spring rolls with a yummy brown sauce. I just learned they also serve orange chicken although it's not on the menu. The shrimp is tender and all dishes I've tried is full of delicious flavor. Comes with fried spring roll, filled with moist minced beef. The noodles was well cooked and non greasy. Pak See Ew - glad we asked for it since it's not in the dinner menu. Again very well done, flat noodles comes with choice of protein, broccoli crowns and florets and fried eggs. Larb- minced protein stir fry with raw Romaine lettuce. Sauce my guess is a combination of lemon juice, fish sauce, lemongrass and others. Again cooked just right. Not overly sweet like most Thai dishes or salad that I hv tried. Recommended. Fried rice- again generous servings of basil leaves with choice of protein. Non greasy and non salty. Notice all the stir fry dishes come with different vegetables. Well thought out. Fresh spring roll - big size sliced shrimp with sliced chicken. Most places served with sliced pork which is not my preferred protein. Pretty good. Sauce is just right. We went in at 6pm. It's a popular place with 30% to 40% tables filled with customers - they are either for dine in or for orders pick up. I think peak hours will be super busy. We also notice the chefs are two senior ladies who looked like they are from southeast Asia. This explains the authenticity of the dishes. In the menu there is also Thai traditional dishes. Great little restaurant. The Chicken Pho is great. Lots of veggies , noodles and chicken. A hearty dish. I had the yellow curry , potato and carrots. They made my dish very mild. The only place I'd eat in town.Their pho lacks flavor. Thai food however is the only decent food in town that I'd eat. I just stick to their pad thai which is really good for what else u can get in this town. Lumpia is over priced for 6 mini rolls. A friend of mine ordered vermicelli noodles with pork and shrimp and just as our food was coming out (his came before ours) he asked us what the thing he was holding in his chopsticks was....it was a still squirming cockroach. Immediately, the entire table lost its appetite. The waitress handled it well and proceeded to bring a new order out and voided the entire tables check but by that time, none of us really touched our foods or found it pleasurable because we were all looking to make sure nothing crawly was in our food. I will avoid this place for a while and probably let a health inspector or someone from the city know. I know this could have been an isolated incident but that's just nasty! read more

Ridgecrest certainly isn't going hungry. With plenty of decent options, this town has some great places to dine. After participating in a hot and dirty day digging for crystals at Gem-O-Rama in Trona, we cleaned up and looked on Yelp for a highly rated restaurant nearby. My cohort has a thing for Thai food. I just have a thing for food. So Saigon Flavor was a clear winner. We entered this unassuming restaurant just after 6. It was packed! Lucky for us, there was one free table. Our waiter zoomed around helping all the tables and flew past us taking our drink orders. In a matter of seconds, we had our drinks, menus, and flatware. Zoom. Zoom! The waiter flew by again getting something else for a nearby table. When he returned, he took our orders: spring rolls, beef pho, & tofu yellow curry. This lightening-quick speed waiter continued through the night. He certainly was efficient. Our food was really good. The Yellow Curry was sweet and spicy with a great texture to the tofu. Big pieces of carrots and potatoes filled the bowl. It was way more than I could finish, but delicious nonetheless. The spring rolls were tasty, although the peanut sauce was way too runny. It just didn't have the consistency or flavor I've come to expect. When we went to order dessert (mango sticky rice) we were informed that they were out of mango, but could substitute with strawberries. It flat out was not good. Sections of the sticky rice were salty, others not. And the strawberries were way too sweet. I should have declined when they said they were out of mango, and I suggest you do as well. Just was not very impressed. For the record, I will give it the "Meh. I've experienced better" statement but rate it 3 stars since 2 stars seems a bit harsh considering the service was friendly along with the dining area being clean and cozy. I ordered the Pho Tai. The Pho broth was just a little too bland for my liking. Not much depth or complexity here. With really good broth I won't even think about adding hoisin sauce or sriracha chili sauce until I am deep into the bowl because I don't like to pollute the the soup before I experience the broth for what it is; however this broth required a good deal of spicing up with both sriracha and hoisin from the get-go. The table next to me ordered a fried rice dish that looked excellent. I will try a different entree next time and eat Pho elsewhere. $8.00 for the soup and $3.50 for the iced coffee seemed a little steeply priced for what I got.
