I've noticed that there is quite a lot of Viet restaurants around. I thought I'd give a few of them a try. Granted I didn't order any pho. So if you want to read about that you'll have to skip over. I was a bit surprise on the rating scale of this spot vs another where they had high ratings. I don't know about you. But this place is clearly the winner. The porkchop over rice hit the spot! I honestly can't remember the last time I had a good viet porkchop. The flavors, the tender meat and the side of pickle veggies had a great balance. The WINGS. Now THIS guy knows how to bread/fry the wings. Crisp on the outside and juicy on the inside. Legit asian style fried wings. I only highlight this as I wrote a previous review that disappointed me in so many levels. As for the fried Squid. It was alright. The crisp is there but the squid tasted like the frozen kinds that has no real "squid" flavor. But crunchin on em was still equally pleasing with the sauce given. Although the fish sauce would've been a better choice for dipping but that's just my opinion.

A4. Fried Wonton, $8.49

This is the second time I've ordered to-go from Saigon Cafe. The first time was in Summer 2020 and I recall not being overly impressed. But last summer was nuts and we decided to give them another try last weekend. I'm so glad we did!!! I ordered the veggie and tofu pad see-ew for $13.99. The portion was generous and super delicious! The tofu and veggies were very flavorful along with the noodles. The texture was absolutely perfect. I want it again right now. We ordered the fried wontons as an appetizer and they were also fantastic. The price seems high at $8.49, so I'm not sure we'll be able to get them in the future...but I'm happy to have tried them. The dipping sauce that goes with them is delicious; I'm not entirely sure what it was though. Maybe sweet chili sauce with vinegar? Something to note is that, like a lot of restaurants right now, their current print menu prices aren't accurate. The prices are now anywhere from $.50 to $1 more per item. I think they're waiting for costs to settle before printing a new menu.

Lunch today. My first visit to the Saigon Cafe, corner Elmwood and Utica. Our hostess/server, Jennifer, was very pleasant. When the dishes we'd ordered were set before us, Lynette thought we'd over-ordered. Always easy to do when you're hungry. But we cleaned the plates so I think we'd ordered just enough. The food was all very good. We asked about the weekend brunch, but that is not available yet. Perhaps as things get more normalized. I loved all the windows and the natural lighting of an overcast day. The pressed tin ceiling is gorgeous, but looking up and around, you see things that need dusting. We're all working toward normal, so I'm not expecting every place to be at the top of their game. The food, the flavors, the décor, our server provided a delightful lunch experience.

Pad Thai, no spice with chicken

This is my family's favorite Thai food place in Western New York. We've been coming here for a couple years and have never been disappointed. Our favorites are the classics, Pad Thai and Pad See Ew. Favorite appetizer is the spring rolls. You can get them ranging from "No Spice" to "Asian Hot" and honestly the medium is more than I care to handle, but other folks we know love the heat. Service is super friendly and I even chatting with the cook once. Everyone's incredibly nice, and personable. I never feel rushed here. Lunch prices are more affordable than dinner, and I usually have plenty to take home, so it's always good bang for your buck. We make it a point to eat here every time we're in the area!

Hurry on over to Saigon so you can thai put some good food!!! Headed over here to meet a friend for lunch and we had such a good time with great food! Got there as soon as they opened and seated at a nice window spot, tons of bright light (great photo lighting haha) and served infused water which was a cute touch. Prices are very fair here, especially for the portion! Beautiful presentation for all the food too! We started with fried spring rolls, loaded with the veg and a delicious dipping sauce. I ordered the tofu pad Thai which was AWESOME! Topped with veg, peanuts, and delicious spice (you can choose your spice level also GF options). My friend ordered the crazy noodles (white ginger suave with veg and chicken and flat noodles) which had incredible flavour too! Greta lunch specials! Definitely would get food from them again! Great service and great options on the menu and something for everyone!

Chicken Pad Thai

Came here for dinner with a friend and had what I would describe as an a-okay experience! We were promptly seated, but the service was really, really slow. I'm a very patient person, but we waited half an hour for our food to come out and since it was just the two of us, we were a little annoyed. People who came in after us were eating before us which was a little perplexing. Our waitress was really kind and kept us posted on our food quite often; she was really sweet. As for the food itself, my friend got the curry udon and really enjoyed it. I decided to order chicken pad Thai, and while I did like it, I found it to be on the blander side. There wasn't any real spice even though I asked for it, and it didn't have a ton of variation in flavor. I wish we would have gotten an appetizer so I'd have more to base this review off of. Their menu is huge so I wouldn't be opposed to getting takeout sometime. Maybe they were having an off night so I still think I'd try eating here again in the future!

This wasn't my first visit to Saigon Cafe. I've been here a handful of times in the past and have had great experiences. Unfortunately, this time I was less than pleased with my order. I called to place my order and the dish I originally asked for was unavailable. I looked at the menu and asked about the Crazy Noodle dish and the person working who took my call couldn't even really explain the flavor of the dish. I probably should've taken that hint and not continue with placing the order or asked for a recommendation, but I didn't do that. As per usual, I was asked what spice level I wanted and I requested medium spice. I had no issues picking up my order, it was ready right in the timeframe that I was given over the phone. To my surprise, when I got home and tried my first bite of the dish, I was instantly dissatisfied. There was no flavor and even though I was asked what spice level I wanted the dish to be, I tasted no spice. I couldn't make it back to the restaurant that evening, so I went back the following day and explained that I was dissatisfied and asked for a sauce or anything that would help boost the flavor of the dish. I was given chili sauce and soy sauce but I requested limes (and fish sauce just in case) as well bc I didn't feel the chili and soy sauces would cut it. They helped a little but I was still disappointed with my meal unfortunately. Overall, this experience put a bad taste in my mouth and I'm not sure when I'll be back.

You must look beyond the exterior of this restaurant for the absolute deliciousness inside!…read moreI found this listing on the 2024 Yelp top 100 restaurants in the USA. The two staff members inside were very welcoming and brought our meals out quickly. The food was hot fresh and delicious! The inside of the restaurant was very clean. This was some of the best Vietnamese food I've ever had!

Yeah, not so much. I should have known by the filthy parking lot, dirty door and windows. But the…read morereviews convinced me to try it anyway. The initial greeting was solid. After that it was all downhill. Entered to a slightly busy restaurant. Told to take any seat I did and was immediately surprised that the table was very wet and sticky. The cashier/server said "oh I just wiped that down " and handed me a menu. I sat there reading the menu. After a few minutes I put the menu down. The table was dry and guess what? Sticky. No problem just got up and moved to a new table. Ordered my food. Got to sit next to the cashier who pretty much was just flipping pages on his phone. Seated next to me was a delivery driver who was watching videos on his phone with the volume turned up. Ordered egg rolls, spring rolls, Anchi's Combo Sandwich. The egg rolls were tasty but tiny. I mean tiny. I get these at Vietnamese restaurants all the time and these are small the peanut sauce was meh. Next came the spring rolls or should I almost Spring rolls . On the smaller side with a fresh wrap. Only it was 80% shredded lettuce, 10% noodles and the smallest split shrimp. Nothing else! Not a slivered of carrot or cucumber or a touch of mint and or basil. Which means there's NO flavor.Even the dipping sauce was boring. Okay the sandwich has to be good I've never had a bad one. Until now. It came out oozing with what I'd called "buttery mayo" which it may have been but it drenched the sandwich and made it a sticky mess. Sticky now (I understand the table.) Most of the ingredients were sliced into tiny slivers even the meat. I was so disappointed in the whole experience. Did I say something no I never saw the "server" again at the table. But I could see him flipping through his phone nonstop during my entire visit. Oh and to top it off the driver had laid his head on his arm while his phone was still on an he was asleep. So after having to get up and ask for my check. After which time I was told to walk around to the cashier counter (I kid you not.) My 1 and only visit ended.

Suddenly, I remembered a restaurant that always had good food, plus it was on our way. We went to 99 Fast Food. We made a great decision. My companion had his favorite Phở Đặc Biệt. I, unfortunately, wasn't very hungry. Everything on the menu looked very tempting, so it was difficult for me to make a choice. This time, two shrimp spring rolls with peanut sauce on the side turned out to be just right. They tasted very fresh. With the sauce, it was filling and exactly what I needed. We ordered at the table and paid at the counter. Delicious food, and very nice people. It was good to see many satisfied customers. We were among them. Oh! Pho lovers, you NEED to try this place!…read more I absolutely love Pho, but I didn't want to make the trip into the city, so I decided to Google "Pho near me" and found this little gem not too far away. I am SO glad I decided to give it a try! My granddaughter and I both had the rare beef Pho, my daughter had the Bánh Mì, and my friend ordered the Vermicelli Chicken noodle bowl -- and not one of us was disappointed! Everything was absolutely delicious, fresh, and clearly made with care. The prices were fantastic, and the service was amazing. Everything came out so quickly, but the speed didn't take away from the quality at all. The food tasted like it was cooked with love. And let's talk about the fresh toppings! The Thai basil, bean sprouts, jalapeños, and lime were fresh, plentiful, and the perfect addition to our meals. We also ordered the spring rolls, and that peanut sauce was SO good it should be bottled! Seriously, I could have taken some home by the gallon. It honestly seemed like a one-man show, and that guy was incredible! Friendly, efficient, and somehow managed to keep everything moving while still providing great service. Even the free bottled water was a wonderful surprise! Hands down, this is my new Pho go-to spot! I highly recommend giving them a try. Great food, great prices, great service, and everything is fresh. We'll definitely be back!
