I can't even put into words how much I love this place. I always end up getting twenty things and pretending went grocery shopping. Obviously they have excellent pho but the sandwiches are the real unexpected stars. We end up getting like six of them to keep in the fridge because they keep really well and are around five bucks. I have eaten anything that has noodles there and it was always authentic feeling. The ambiance is tiny and cute. This place has an absolutely ginormous menu of options and typically that would make me take a pause on how good it might actually be. But everything I tried and everything my friends ordered looked and tasted delicious! I got the spring rolls as well as their Chicken Pad Thai, and both of them were quite delicious and well portioned. I've heard great things about Pho Dollar and we have been meaning to try it. We came on a chilly Friday evening after work and it was everything we were hoping for. I have to say this is the most authentic pho that I've had in the area. The broth was delicious and flavorful and all the ingredients were fresh and tasty. There were more pho combos than I've ever seen and it was cool to see so many variations. As like most authentic Asian restaurants the decor was very basic, the service was good and fast, the food was amazing and came in huge portions. We each had a bowl of pho and had enough for another lunch the next day. We also enjoyed an order of dumplings and a to go order of bun tin nang and it was about $50. Lots to choose from here as the menu is pretty large. We will be back again soon. read more

We had the Bun Bo Hue tonight and it was tasty. However, I wouldn't say it is the flavor I am used to and my family is from Vietnam. But I know different regions can have different methods of cooking. Even though it wasn't the flavor I am used to, it was tasty and would satisfy our cravings when needed :) Excited to try the pho and mi tomorrow and come back for their bun and rice dishes :) Update: Tried the pho dac biet and egg noodle soup tonight and they were both great! Exceptional place! Any Viet place that offers Hu Tieu Nam Vang or Bun Bo Xue, already must be a legit place. Most people know vietnamese food for pho, but I argue that Hu tieu and Bun Bo xue are probably superior in their elegant, sweet, clean tastes. This place also had banh mi- already another winner in my mind. We also ordered a rice platter which was also delicious. Hu Tieu is a Thin clear rice noodles with cooked pork, poached shrimp, ground pork, quail eggs, fried garlic, and caramelized shallots, served in chicken and pork broth. The caramelized shallots is what makes this seafood sweet broth taste sublime and this place does it right. I highly recommend this dish for those who love pho but are ready to take their broth loving to the next level. The Bun Bo Xue is also out of this world. A complex but beautiful soup that is pho but a spicy version. Highly recommend this dish for those who love pho but want something spicy The meat platter dish was also outstanding; a perfectly barbecued sweet piece of meat with perfect jasmine rice and the right amount of romaine lettuce; they didn't put iceburg lettuce which to me is just gross. Banh Mi was also very good; I can't believe we ate all these dishes in one sitting. But that shows it was a very enjoyable experience and we hope to come back soon. She sat us under the air duct and laughed at me when I asked her to please lower the heat. When we got up to leave - she did not do anything but she sniggered as we left. Absolutely delicious! I don't know why I haven't given this place a chance. This quarantine has really made me want to try restaurants that I haven't been to. I'm quite picky when it comes to Vietnamese food as I grew up eating my father's home cooked meals. My fiancé and I ordered the pork banh mi, chicken pho, and com dat biet. The banh mi was really delicious and flavorful. I found the baguette to be too soggy for my taste though. The chicken pho was great and really hit the spot. I didn't love Pho Dollar either of the two times we ordered. They were both delivery orders thru UberEats. The first time we ordered a couple banh mi; a pork one and a tofu one. The tofu one was mine and it was pretty flavorless. There are a million ways to impart flavor into or at least onto tofu. My husband said the pork one was ok. We also ordered the goi tom (shredded shrimp salad) and it was delicious and very pretty. The second time we ordered the banh xeo (vietnamese pancake) and a specialty beef pho. Both were completely flavorless, as if no seasoning of any kind had been used. The pancake filling is pork and shrimp, but there was hardly any of either...there was a massive amount of mung bean sprouts though (thumbs down). These pancakes heat up and get nicely recrisped in the oven...that's why I noticed the lack of proteins in the first place; I dismantled it to reheat it. I didn't feel like the amount of filling matched the cost of the item at $11. Everything was cooked nicely and packed well...there was just no flavor. I don't plan on trying Pho Dollar again, but I definitely wouldn't refuse to if I were with folks who wanted to eat there. read more

I love this pho place. I been to a lot and so far I only have two favorite pho place and this is one of them. It's kind of out of the way and far for me but I would try to go whenever I crave for pho. I always start of the order with the Vietnamese ice coffee. It is really strong and a little bitter for some people. It's fresh brew with condensed milk. It's great caffeine for me :) love it! Most days, I order the Bun Bo Hue which is the spicy beef&pork rice noodle soup. I love spicy food so I always order this. The regular pho is also great as well. Delicious, dependable takeout at a low price point! While I've never dined in at Pho Dollar, I've gotten takeout a number of times, and it has yet to disappoint. They've got a huge menu and everything is so affordable, you definitely get a lot of bang for your buck! Personally, I think their banh mi sandwiches are one of the best value meals in the Buffalo area. For $7.50, you'll get a huge sandwich that'll keep you full for hours. And it's served hot, too, so that sort of price point is a steal! I've also had their Pho Ga (chicken pho), and it's absolutely delicious. The portion size is huge, and they package it all so nicely for takeout. The veggies and aromatics are so fresh, they truly make the meal. Pho Dollar is definitely worth it for a takeout meal -- even if you have to go a little out of the way to get it. Pho Dollar is named after the Clint Westwood movie (the really Hanoing one) - "Pho A Few Dollar More." Much like Clint Westwood, I can't quite decide what to make of this place. In the Banh Mi department, it's somewhere between a 4 and 5. In the Pho and the Service department, it's a 3 or so. The Bubble Tea I found to be barely bearable, especially the tapioca part. 2 stars for that. There's also the interesting tidbit that I received a very abusive message because of my original review (due to my absurd mention of the Vietnamese Mafia... I didn't know they actually existed, but somebody with 0 Yelp friends and 0 Yelp reviews got very, very angry at my jokes. Not sure if they were affiliated with the business, but they called Buffalo a "sh**hole", so I'm hoping not). Then you factor in the lack of Banh Mi sandwiches in Buffalo (and I mean complete... absolute... absence) and it just about scrapes a 4. So I keep going between a 4-star and 5-star for this place because finding a Banh Mi sandwich in Buffalo that is decent is really difficult. But even though this one is decent, it's certainly not amazing. It's very heavy on the bread-and-butter and needs a lot more veggies and freshness. The service is probably the worst element of the place. Half the time I'm in here I get the distinct sense that they wish that I was dead or something. But I get that a lot. Not to mention that I got hate mail about my review or specifically the jokes in my review. Usually when I get hate mail right after posting a review let's just say it's not from a random Yelp user. But that's just speculation. We've hosted Yelp stuff here before and they were nice about it. It's located right in the heart of ethnic food paradise (near the West Side Bazaar) and is a great (and fairly cheap) addition to a wonderful food city. This is probably the best Vietnamese food I've had in a long time, and in greater Buffalo area. Granted I did not try the pho, what the restaurant is named after. But what I did or was delicious, fresh and good for you! I had the grilled steak/beef sandwich. It was tasty light and a good option for lunch. I ordered the spring rolls with peanut sauce, also very tasty and light. At five dollars for two rolls not bad but could have had a little bit more shrimp and chicken. The Vietnamese iced coffee drink was refreshing on a hot summer day. I took a mango flavored bubble tea tapioca drink to-go. That was for my daughter. She said it was made well, and delicious. Was surprised to see the place so busy on a Sunday at 2 PM. Service was a bit slow. The waitress was courteous and friendly and willing to discuss options for the bubble tea, which was helpful. I believe we started off with thai milk tea (so yummy) and spring rolls and then ordered our pho. I ordered the 21 on the menu and it was to die for! I added hoisin sauce, lots of mint and sprouts too! It was the perfect blend of spicy and sweet. The wait staff were friendly, helpful and attentive. Our orders came out pretty fast too! We were barely done with our appetizers when our pho came out. And they give gigantic portions too! If you want delicious and fast food, Pho dollar is the place to go! Ever on the hunt for the best tasting pho in Buffalo, I went with my sister and nephew to try Pho Dollar. Street parking only for this place, but there is a store parking lot across the street that I saw patrons using. As you enter the restaurant, my first impression was not a good one. There are vestiges of what seemed to be a once thriving bar and dining area...just looked sad & deserted that day and contains only odd bits of furniture and old decorations. No one is at the door to greet you so you must walk toward the rear right corner of this room and climb a small set of stairs up to the loft dining room that overlooks the abandoned-looking bar. I am disabled but was able to negotiate the small set of stairs that leads up to the dining room. The waitstaff was prompt, attentive and friendly. Our food was served quickly and was very good. They are quite generous with fresh veg and herbs for the pho soup, however no garnish was provided for the fried spring rolls (cha gio). I am accustomed to being served lettuce leaves, fresh mint, and fresh cilantro for wrapping and dipping the egg rolls into Nuoc cham sauce (both in Hawaii and on the West Coast it is always served that way). Not sure if omitting the garnish is a country regional difference or a cost savings measure by the chef? Overall, just based on the quality and taste of their food, Pho Dollar, is one of the top three (flavor-wise, not ambience) Vietnamese restaurants I have tried in Buffalo (been to six places so far). And definitely not a date night romantic place, but good for lunch. read more

One of the best places I had pho in Buffalo. Some places I've gone to in the area has watered down broth, but this was not the case for Pho Dollar. The overall interior of the place threw me off at first because there are two stories. The first floor has tables and a little bar area, and the second floor has tables with the kitchen in the back. Ironically, the second floor seemed cleaner and more convenient, so we ended up sitting on the second floor. My husband and I ordered Cha Gio (the fresh egg rolls with pork), Pho Tai Chin (Beef noodle soup with beef slices and brisket), and Bun Bo Hoe (Beef and pork in spicy soup). First, the egg rolls. They give you three small egg rolls that are cut in half. It was $4.95 for these three, which was a bit pricy than expected. It was very delicious and peppery though, so was worth it. The Pho Tai Chin had thick broth and a lot of beef. We were a bit worried after the pictures on Yelp that showed fatty pieces of beef, but the actual Pho we got had a LOT of meaty slices of beef. The noodles are regular pho noodles. The Bun Bo Hoe had spicy broth with beef and pork. Two of the pieces of pork looked like spam so I decided not to eat it (lol). But the beef slices were again, very meaty. The only thing about this dish is that they are not rice noodles but flour noodles (udon noodle-type). The broth was super delicious and flavorful. The only downside I can think of, is that usually there are different sizes of Pho (small, medium, large) on the West coast Pho places, but here, it's just one size. :( read more

I came to Pho Dollar during one of my days off with a friend! The nice thing about this location is there is a huge parking lot across the street! When I entered the location it's a cute quaint fast food type place, perhaps it's not always like that but there was construction going on in the upper level when I visited. Anyway, on to the food! The menu is vast! One of my favorite Vietnamese dishes is banh- mi. They have multiple choices in terms of meat but I kept it traditional with pork belly. It was de-li-cious. I ate the entire thing! The bread was fresh, not too hard (especially for a baguette they can sometimes be stale), the pork belly itself was tender and easy to eat. My dish was the pho Do Bien, I personally really enjoy the seafood pho. They had plenty of fish all's and shrimp, crab to keep me happy with the amount of meat in the dish. The noodles were great and the broth was flavorful. They also provided fresh jalapeños which were powerful and added that extra spice I need in my dishes. I think next time I come here I'm going to try a vermicelli bowl and more appetizers.. and also get another Bahn Mi. read more
