I came to Pho Dollar during one of my days off with a friend! The nice thing about this location is there is a huge parking lot across the street! When I entered the location it's a cute quaint fast food type place, perhaps it's not always like that but there was construction going on in the upper level when I visited. Anyway, on to the food! The menu is vast! One of my favorite Vietnamese dishes is banh- mi. They have multiple choices in terms of meat but I kept it traditional with pork belly. It was de-li-cious. I ate the entire thing! The bread was fresh, not too hard (especially for a baguette they can sometimes be stale), the pork belly itself was tender and easy to eat. My dish was the pho Do Bien, I personally really enjoy the seafood pho. They had plenty of fish all's and shrimp, crab to keep me happy with the amount of meat in the dish. The noodles were great and the broth was flavorful. They also provided fresh jalapeños which were powerful and added that extra spice I need in my dishes. I think next time I come here I'm going to try a vermicelli bowl and more appetizers.. and also get another Bahn Mi. read more

Pretty big fan of this place for the bahn mi, vermicelli, and the pho. I live relatively close so this is a go to place for take out and dine in. As everyone has already said, the bahn mi is delicious and really decently priced. The pork is just so yummy with the slightly pickled veggies. I usually do the pho during the warmer months and always have leftovers for lunch the next day. I recently ordered the vermicelli for takeout and really enjoyed it. I did have to ask for a side of hoisin and chili sauce so make sure to say that when you call in or order online. The meat was delicious but I will say I could have used an extra container of the vermicelli sauce for the noodles. Overall, this place has great costumer service (can occasionally be slow) and offers delicious food. read more

Finally tried this restaurant, too. Off Grant St; on a Sunday afternoon, parking was easy (I ordered takeout). Ordered #19, a Pho soup, including rice noodles, thin rare beef slices, well-done brisket, tendon, tripe, flank, and sliced meatballs. The broth came in its own well-sealed container, a plus when it won't be enjoyed right away (the noodles don't soak up the broth). A separate container for the sprouts and basil, and then the noodles and other ingredients were in their own container. Don't be afraid of tripe! It really has no discernible flavor of its own, but rather picks up the broth flavor. Thankfully, the broth wasn't salty as soups often are. Nothing leaked in transit ! An inexpensive, delicious dinner. Prompt and friendly service. The rest room was very clean, altho the paint job is unfinished and there's a leftover electric connection on the wall. read more

This review is for the vegetarian options/experience. There is a separate vegetarian menu, but you have to know to ask for it. Nothing on the regular menu is suitable for vegans, The vegetarian menu is a wrinkled piece of paper which is a photocopy of a menu that had handwritten comments on it, one which is "beef broth" - so I was a little nervous. Also, it wasn't that informative. There was no way to tell the difference between two dishes that were both called tofu stir fry with vegetables. I asked and was told one had vegetables. Ok... The best part of the experience was when, after sitting with the veg menu for at least fifteen minutes, they came over to tell me they were out of tofu. Turns out it is in every dish, including the ones that don't list it. I had ordered the fried rice because it was the only dish not listing it but it has tofu also. The fried rice was nothing special. I wish they had tofu bahn mi. I've never been asked so many times if I wanted refills on water. If we haven't started sting, or are still eating, of course we want water. Also, we had a group of five and the food came out at wildly different times. The bahn mi came out about ten minutes before the pho and my fried rice was somewhere in between. All that being said, everyone else loved their food. The one other strange part was when they warned only one pho orderer that her dish contained tendon and tripe even though the other two pho varieties had it also. We had one connoisseur of Vietnamese food and she loves it. She even pointed out all the unique menu items you don't usually see in restaurants around here. read more

Small restaurant. Casual dining. All food was excellent. Great pho! Excellent service. Love this little gem of a restaurant.

They're open Monday. I was going to go to the West Side Bazaar across the street, but discovered too late that the Bazaar is closed Mondays. Yelp came to the rescue and pointed me to Pho Dollar with its good reviews. This is a "me, too" review. I was in a veggie mood and ordered vegetable fried rice with steamed tofu. It was delicious. I think it had egg, so if you're vegan, be sure to ask for no egg if you order this dish. For dessert, I ordered pork dumplings, which were also nicely prepared. My server was great. It's located a few doors east of Grant and West Ferry St across from the West Side Bazaar. You can take the popular #3 NFTA scheduled ride sharing bus. read more

This place has changed drastically as I haven't been here in a year.. I walked in and the first thing you notice is all the modern updates...great...however, no one is at the door to great you or give direction on where to sit...so me and my friend just starting walking to the upstairs portion of the restaurant and were halted by a voice that said, "sit anywhere down here,"...um, okay? We sat down then realized how cold it was, multiple dirty tables and asked to be seated upstairs..we sat, then someone (I guess a waiter?) asked us to move to another table, ok..we sat, and were given water, then a waiter came took our orders. Our appetizers came out first (fried egg rolls and fried dumplings) they tasted amazing, but they came out with no small plates, and no side sause for the appetizers as clearly described in the menu...I let it go and I ate dropping crumbs everywhere...next, the Pho came, I had the #22...taste was ok, but where are my veggies? I had to ask not one but the second waiter for the veggies he forgot to bring out with the soup...ok...taste of the pho was great, however the amount of fat on the beef lead me to pick every single piece out and trim the fat by hand before I could eat it..I also removed an abundant amount of noodles.. Overall solid food experience, customer service severely was lacking...I think I'll skip this place next time I crave Pho. read more

Overall, I like their Pho. I get the no. 24. It could be a little more aromatic for my taste but it's my go-to place in the area so far. My obsession with Pho is real so I end up ordering from them about once a week. Generous drizzle of freshly squeezed lime, mix in some of that sriracha and hoisin; you're golden. Perfect for cold winter nights. I also tried their fried spring roll, which I would recommend, a bit oily but tasty. However, not so much their pad Thai or lemongrass chicken. read more

The best pho I've had in my life! I thought Brooklyn had the best pho until I came here. (I have yet to go to Vietnam so I cannot speak for the most AUTHENTIC pho, but definitely the best pho I've had in the US, for sure!) Their special combination pho is HUGE. Do not come here unprepared because you need to skip a meal or two in order to finish the Pho Xe Lua Dac Biet ($12.45). I do recommend getting the smaller size ($10.45). Regardless, you cannot go wrong with the pho. The broth is sooo light and aromatic and the meat to noodles ratio is perfection. We came as a huge party and the service was great and friendly. They always checked to see if everything was perfect and if we needed anything. The servers were the sweetest! Overall 5 star experience. The only negative is that I live 6 hours away in NYC. Will ALWAYS return when I come back to Buffalo. Highly, highly recommend. read more

The best bowl of soup I've ever had. Order #36. Pho Dollar is located on Buffalo's west side, well off the beaten path of Elmwood and Hertel. I stopped in for lunch and it shattered my expectations. The broth was OUTSTANDING. The quail egg was perfectly cooked. All of the ingredients tasted super fresh. The service was friendly and the food came out fast. Pho Dollar's soup is the perfect complement to a cold Bufflao day. I will definitely be coming back and posting more reviews. This is only the beginning. read more

Their beef over rice is unbelievable. Like it's absolutely delicious and I think everyone needs to try it. Their location and indoor dining up isn't really that great but just take out and you will have an amazing time. Their pad Thai is also delicious and the service isn't bad. For lunch we had the Dollar's Vietnamese Grilled Pork Sandwich Bánh Mì Tht Nng It was wonderful! It's really closer to a 3 than a 4, but I am giving it 4* because of 2 reasons. 1) I found *real* egg noodles not 'american' ones - hoorah! (soft stir fried) 2) A homeless person came in asking for money, and literally jetted towards my husband and the waitress who was a tiny little asian girl ran up as soon as she saw them come up the stairs, and got inbetween before they could reach our table and made sure they left. 4 of us went to check out Pho Dollar on Sunday at around 7pm, and food-wise we were all pleasantly surprised by the taste of the pho broth - 2 people immediately stated that it was the best they have had in Buffalo thus far! The noodles in my soup were not thorougly cooked.. so I had to wait a couple of minutes before I could eat them. It was as if they put raw noodles in the bowl and then put the broth on top..they were quite too chewy for a while.. I didn't really like that.. I also ordered some soft stir fried noodles to go, and when I opened the box I was super happy to see that they were real, flat egg noodles and not the thick square kind I keep getting at asian places in the city. The beef in that dish was sliced so thin, and had no fat and was just the way I like it. Good ratio of veggies/noodles/beef but I found after a few bites it was WAY too salty ( I have a high salt tolerance as well). That also happened with the pho I was eating - MSG much?! There's not much to say about the inside of the restaurant. Although I am not sure why the cash/waitress area is all the way at the top of the stairs at the back. When we came in no one was downstairs and she couldn't see us from back there. Kind of odd. read more

I decided to order delivery from Pho Dollar - I am trying to support the local businesses during this difficult time. I always enjoy vietnamese and ordered in the Grilled Beef Vermicelli Bowl : BÚN BÒ NỚNG. I ordered it through a third-party website and everything worked out well - they made my order correctly and the driver did the hand-off without direct contact. With regards to the food, I think the beef was the best part and wish there was more included. It was warm, tender and delicious. I did like the egg roll I added on to my order - I could have easily eaten a second one. I thought there were too many noodles and that they lacked flavor and spice. Had I known that the noodles would essentially lack any flavor I probably would have picked a different meal. Then again, there may be people who prefer their noodles that way, right? Will I give Pho Dollar another try? Of course, but I will probably pick a different meal. read more

It was a surprising place. We recently move from Texas and it is hard to find authentic Vietnamese food around Buffalo, NY. I had the bun bo hue dac biet (#35) and it was pretty yummy so much flavor and the beef and seafood was so tender (it was not too spicy which I was glad). My husband got one of the vermicelli dishes and he said it was great. My daughter enjoyed the spring rolls (the only thing I was missing was for the spring rolls to have slice cucumber and carrots, but aside from that I recommend anyone looking for Vietnamese food to come here. read more

Great place to grab some pho for lunch. Went there after coming back from Canada (Peace bridge). Inside looks decorative, you have to take the stairs for dining. Server was helpful and took our order right away. I ordered #19 Pho Dac Biet and an order of fried spring rolls. Foods were delicious and they came out quick. The pho was one of the best I have tried around Buffalo, tasty broths and soft noodles. Will definitely come back when I'm around West Ferry. read more

Used to be very good but not much any more. The last time I had was spicy lemongrass chicken. I ask them to make it spicier but was refused. They said that it cannot do it because it may be too hot for other customer as they reused the cooking ware. What? they don't wash it and use it throughout the day? May be this is true for ever restaurant but don't review it to me. Anyway, the lemongrass chicken doesn't taste good. Too dry. Really great rare beef pho! I ordered to go during this time, and they provided EVERYTHING I needed. Was really happy with how items were packed into a convenient baggie and plastic container so I could easily assemble my soup at home. I was very happy with the rare beef too - not too fatty and not stringy like it can be sometimes. So good I forgot to take a pic! I also got steamed dumplings and those were amazing as well. A few friends have never had pho before and since I am an avid noodle soup lover, especially in the winter, we stopped here on our way out. This wasn't far from our AirBnB. The menu is large, for someone who knows what they want it's not too bad, but for someone who has never had Vietnamese, it's a lot to take in! We were sad when we couldn't order the fresh spring rolls, they said they were out of them. Instead they ordered #17 and fried #6.a. Sadly, I can't eat any of those with meat in them but I heard it was good! My hubs ordered the pad thai dish and I had #87 vegetarian pho chay. Our friends ordered one of the Vermicelli bowls as a first timers. She enjoyed it but wished there was another sauce to add to the flavor. The pad thai was decent, which is to be expected since it's more Vietnamese but he's easy to please. I liked the pho, it lacked some deeper flavors in the broth but it hit the spot when I needed it too. Not a bad spot to try, there's a ton of seating when you first walk in and in the back upstairs. I wish they had bubble tea! For some reason, I thought it did so I was sad! Overall, I think it's worth trying but we would try a few others before returning back here. read more

Two stars for the renovation. Zero stars for the noise level. They had some crazy noise that sounded like fun house background music that went off periodically throughout dinner. One star for the food. I had the Vietnamese pancake which had two tiny shrimp and an ounce of pork in it. Stingy portion and a poor value. My daughter had a seafood stirfry with vegetables that had about a cup of food for 12+ dollars and maybe an ounce of seafood in it. And for the final disagreeable experience, one of the servers was cleaning off the table behind us with an incredibly foul, industrial smelling solution that would have taken away almost anyone's appetite. read more

Best Vietnamese restaurant I've ever been to, hands down! This restaurant looks like a hole in the wall, but once you walk in, you will be surprised by how busy and lively this place is. This place is affordable, and it is SO GOOD! Everything on the menu was delicious. Based on a rec my wife and I decided to go check out Pho Dollar. I typically go to Pho 99 whenever I feel like getting some pho but I figured it never hurts to try a new place. Pho Dollar recently opened up just about a month ago. The current yelp page says that they don't accept credit cards, but they do. They didn't have the system up and running when the first reviewer setup the page I suppose. The pho is great! I had the Pho Tai (basic... rare steak). True to form, I had a sizable amount of meat in my bowl. I was averaging over 1.3 pieces of meat per bite and I didn't want to over do it and ended up with a few extra pieces hanging around after I was done with my noodles. My wife had the tendon and brisket pho. I'm okay with tendon but the brisket was legit! Next time I'll be getting the brisket pho. Super soft and delicious! One great thing about this place is that they have Bahn Mi! YES! What is that you ask? It's basically delicousness tucked into a french baguette. I added some jalapenos to give it some kick and then BOOM. Wonderful! So give this place a shot. I don't think you'll be disappointed. Service was excellent as well. I think the waitress checked in on us about 5-6 times so it was nice. Depending on where you live... if you're down for a bit of drive then go get yourself so pho from this place. Note: Contrary to their name - Pho does not cost 1 dollar. Nor does it cost 4 dollars. read more

So good I went twice this week after just hearing about the opening! I went once for dinner and once for lunch. For dinner my husband and I shared the BBQ pork banh mi and I loved it. I thought the bread was a perfect mix of soft and crusty, the flavor was great I just wish there was a little bit more meat on the sandwich. We then had pho, I had mine with rare beef and my husband got the brisket. I really enjoyed my pho, I thought the broth was tasty and the beef was of good quality. Service was lacking, however, they forgot utensils and the wait seemed unnecessarily long for our pho. I am guessing it is just because they are new, but it made dinner just a tiny bit less enjoyable. For lunch I ended up getting a vermicelli bowl, one with grilled pork and shrimp with an egg roll, #55. I also got a taro bubble tea. The bowl was AWESOME. I had never had that before and I really enjoyed it. The veggies were super fresh and the meat was tasty, and those shrimp!! There were only 3 but they were a good size and perfectly cooked! I enjoyed my bubble tea but the boba were more jelly and it was tough to eat them with all the ice in the glass. I am a big fan and can't wait to come back and eat more. Wow, just wow. My coworker asked me to join him here for lunch and I am forever in debt to him for showing me this place! The fried rice here was phenomenal! I've visited here a bunch of times now and it's been consistently fast and delicious. I usually go for the #21 or #22. They are essentially the same item except that the type of beef that gets put in them is different. They always arrive piping hot and the side of toppings is more than adequate for the size of the soup. The broth is flavorful and it doesn't seem greasy when you eat it like a lot of broths do. The bowl is gigantic and I always take home half of my order and have plenty left over for an additional meal. They have a large variety of specialty drinks too (including Bubble tea). I've only ever tried the coffee, which comes with it's own little percolator thing. I don't know exactly what it's called, but they brew your coffee directly into this sweet cream and you mix it all together and pour it over ice. It was very sweet and delicious. There was no way I could drink a whole one on my own. The prices here are very reasonable too. There is a pork sandwich on their appetizer menu which is only $4.95 and could probably be a meal in itself. The service here is quick and friendly. They take credit cards, they have only street parking and there is a full bar. It's a great place to eat in at or order takeout. read more

Holy crap, I thought I reviewed this place already. But Yelp was saying, Hey review this place, and now here I am. I have visited this establishment many of times and even when they first opened. I normally always get the rice noodle bowl. But I tell them less noodle more lettuce. 2 of the 4 times I ordered it that way, they got it correct. This one time i ordered, looks like they gave me more noddle and less lettuce which was opposite of what i ordered. When ever I got with my Vietnamese foodie friend, we get the Summer rolls. The pricing on the Summer rolls are really on the higher side. Its always like highway robbery when ordering them. I'm used to them being half price back in Hawaii but I guess you have to price is accordingly especially if you know you have great food. I just wish they packed the summer rolls better and bigger. The last time i ordered, they looked like they were very skimpy and totally not worth what they were charging. I have not tasted their Pho, but I know I will be back to try it when it gets colder and will need warm Pho to warm me up some. Over all, great price and I wish they would pay attention better to my order and fulfill my request and make the summer rolls a little bigger for the price they are charging. read more

Pho Dollar is the best little pho shop in Buffalo. The staff are friendly and always ready to welcome you upstairs to the dining area when you walk in. The decor is cute and quirky. When they are busy, you may have some trouble getting your check, but you can always go to the counter and pay when ready. Suggested Appetizers: They have the most delicious Pork Bahn Mi I've ever had (they have a beef option too, but pork is best) and we always order one when we visit and share it as an appetizer. Bahn Mi is a grilled seasoned pork, pickled carrot and radish sandwich with mayo on very tasty french bread. I wish I knew where they got their bread, it's great. My boyfriend and I often talk of ordering 10 Bahn Mi's and just sitting at a table with a pile of these delicious sandwiches and pigging out. Their fried spring rolls are also excellent and come piping hot with a dish of amazing fish sauce for dipping. (I have been known to drink the leftovers.) Pho: The pho is always delicious with the typical savory broth, rice noodles, and onions. For a first timer, I suggest the rare beef slices (my favorite). Even if you're a person who eats their steak well done you will like this one. Any pink beef cooks quickly and completely in the hot broth once you stir it in. My boyfriend often gets the combo of beef and meatballs. The meatballs come in slices of what I would consider to be interestingly textured "mystery-meat" but he swears by them. So try them out if you're feeling adventurous. :) There are also even more adventurous pho flavors with tripe and tendons. Drink: I suggest if you're willing to pay the somewhat high price for it, getting the fresh lime soda. I think it's Soda Chanh. It is fresh lime juice, fizzy water and simple syrup and is so good. read more

Hmm, where do I begin? This was THE strangest dining experience I have ever had. They keep the second star for the once again amazing Goi Cuon spring rolls with peanut dipping sauce and the rather tasty Jasmine Tea with Limeade. This time, I went for dinner with a friend and I decided to try the famed Pho. Maybe I ordered the wrong one because while it wasn't bad, it was rather flavorless. I have definitely had better. When we first arrived, my friend asked for a drink from the bar. But we were told there was no bartender working and thus, only beer was available. I counted at least three employees in sight but I guess none of them were capable of making drinks. But here is big the thing: our table was swarming with fruit flies and at least one regular fly who I assume was their leader. It was kinda gross. I doubt I will be back. read more
