The first thing I have to comment on is how big the portions are at Sahel! A friend and I got the lamb and beef donair wrap as well as the loghmeh kebab and we were so full by the end of the meal. I personally like rice bowls better, but I think the loghmeh kebab could use a bit more seasoning. The donair, however, was super flavourful and had lots of meat. Honestly, both are good options! The lady at the counter was also super sweet and gave us an extra takeout container and utensils. I'd definitely come back here again if I'm craving Iranian/Persian food!

After trying the felafel plate and not really feeling one way or the other about it, I wanted to see if the Persian specialties were more memorable, so I tried the eggplant stew (the one veg stew on offer). I didn't care for this; the "broth" that the eggplant and tomato were cooked in was straight oil, and that made it hard to enjoy for me. I don't know what this dish is authentically supposed to be like so I can't comment on whether it's meant to be this oily, I just know that it wasn't for me. I did really like the rice this time, but they give so much that I didn't know what to do with all of it. I also tried the yogurt soda they sell. This I did really like. Although the staff seems very nice, i unfortunately don't see myself coming back for the food (maybe the felafel plate if it was the only place in the city to get felafel, but it's very much not).

The best falafel in Vancouver is as superbaba hands down. I asked if the falafel was baked or fried…read moreand I was told I could pick. After requesting to have it fried I was surprised to see it come out of a microwave. Considering it's also the same price as superbaba I would suggest that of you're looking for a falafel save your money and go elsewhere. Staff were polite and place was clean for what that's worth. Hope you chicken lovers find something decent but if falafel is what you're seeking this is a hard pass.

Probably the most disappointing falafel experience I've had in Vancouver. I had the Vegetarian…read morePlate and nothing tasted fresh. The tomatoes in the Greek salad were on the verge of being mushy (I ate them, but considered discarding them, and if they'd been any more mushy I would've thrown them out), the hummus was grainy, the pickled onions tasted kind of funky, the samosa wrapper was not crisp, the dolma filling was weirdly dense, the pita was store-bought and very thin (I recognize this is intentional and a style some people like, I just prefer a thicker pita for dipping). The toum was really good, but that did not make up for everything else going on. They get a second star from me because when I ordered I also bought a bottle of their ayran to drink later, and that did end up being pretty good, so I feel my rating should acknowledge that there was something that wasn't a complete miss. But I definitely wouldn't eat here again.

Same friendly-ish crew still serving up food with a smile. And yes; the food is still excellent with reasonable prices. The falafels are homemade and delicious as is the tabouleh. If you're hungry with a good appetite hit up a falafel plate, it's delicious - say yes to the hot sauce. 5*s because I'm still here once every few months even after all these years. Crave-able, fresh, healthy food - not fancy, just great.

The first thing I noticed was that she was not wearing gloves. She was wearing gloves on one hand but not both. I'm assuming that one glove was for handling money. I personally am not comfortable with anyone's bare hands touching my food directly, and specially with the whole pandemic thing still going on. So, that for me was a big turn off. She didn't ask me which ingredients I wanted on my wrap. I mean how unusual?! She just put all the ingredients on my wrap. What if I had an allergy? What if I didn't want tomatoes?! The whole thing was just surreal. She ignored us the whole time we were standing there while making our wrap with her bare hands. I just hope that they were clean! Once we got home and I had a taste of the wrap it tasted very bland. The lamb was dry and tasted like plastic and the hummus was ...well...grainy, unsalted and miserable. The pita bread was not a quality pita bread, so it started to fall apart half way through the wrap. Just a little juice from the tomatoes was dissolving the pita. Not good. I love middle eastern/mediterranean food and have had many many different types of shawarma wraps all over and this was one of the poorest I've had. If you know your wraps and love your lamb, skip this place.

We haven't had it since the original experience in New York and this trip did not disappoint! Tasted like being in New York and trying it out for the first time again. I got a Combo sandwich with beef gyro and chicken. So yummy. A good portion of meat and the white sauce is to die for. Even got some of the baklava since we get a free dessert with entree after 8pm... delicious as well. We even came back again during that 4 night stay. We couldn't resist. Service was fast and great both times. We will be back again if ever in the area.

Follow your instinct. I didn't. Regret followed…read more I read the less than stellar reviews of this place but decided to give them a try anyhow...even though I had a feeling that I probably shouldn't. The service was friendly and the place was clean, but it was the food that obliterated any chance of me going back, or frankly of them being on the map of local mediterranean/middle eastern foods and competing successfully. I got the Beef Sandwich with added hummus, onions, bell peppers, white sauce and hot sauce to go. Their beef that is served and cooked on the vertical broiler typical of a shawarma style sandwich was extremely low quality....even for street food shawarma standards. It tasted like poor of the poor quality. My wrap was completely soaked in white sauce (see pic.) All I could taste was sauce, bread and bits of onion, and since I hadn't had anything for breakfast and this was my first meal....I'm hoping I won't get an upset stomach. Sauces of that nature almost all of the time have the bad types of oil...so we'll see. If you're still into that kinda fast food, lower quality....let's just indulge style of eating....then I'd suggest to get it "easy on the sauce", because mine was swimming in it. $17 later....White Sauce with a side of flat bread. .....I think I might have some Pepto Bismol in the cupboard.
