The staff…read moreat Hancock Hall was incredibly loving, caring and seemed to genuinely enjoy their jobs and working with elderly patients. They kept in excellent contact with our family throughout her stay, and my mother was very content there. The facility itself was always clean (no typical institutional smell) and they stayed on top of medications, kept her engaged with activities, and closely monitored and assisted with her food. Aside from that, during Covid, the steps they took and the frequent communication with families was exemplary. We could not have asked for more for our mother. While at the gym today, a very infirmed man had trouble and was in pain to the point of nearly fainting. I asked if he needed help since he could barely stand even with a walker. I looked around the Ground floor for help, but there was no one. I recommended that he press his emergency pendent, which he did. No one came. After five minutes, still no one came. More time passed. Still no one. I decided to go upstairs to the main desk to say someone needed help in the gym. They said they were aware of the emergency call but could not locate him. I then went downstairs and noticed a woman had finally arrived. However, she was rude, and ignored his request for a wheelchair, and began for forcefully push him backwards on his walker. When he mentioned his frustration about not being found after pushing the pendent, she just responded, "I'm here now." I said she arrived only because of me notifying the front desk, and she again slightly angrily repeated her statement. I was appalled at her attitude, but more importantly, her ignoring his request for a wheelchair, which he clearly needed. I went upstairs to reflect what I witnessed and to complain. I was then introduced to a manager. I said that I would hate to have my 84 year old mother treated this way if she had an emergency.

The staff is so friendly and helpful. There are numerous activities - internal movies, speakers, and performers as well as trips outside to museums, concerts, sports happens, and local live theater productions. This past December & January I was in Ridge Crest, our on-side rehab facility. For the 2 months I was there I enjoyed great care, good food (3 delicious meals a day), and excellent physical therapy. My laundry was done daily and my room was dusted and vacuumed daily as well. I felt so spoiled by the attention from aides, CNA's, and RN's that it was hard to leave when I was well enough to return to my apartment. I received help in my apartment from Western CT, Home Health, from aides from Bridge Star Agency, and PT Therapists from Ridge Crest for the few weeks that I needed help. It is certainly wonderful to live in a place where such care is available on premises and where friends can easily visit. Ridge Crest felt like an extension of home - not a strange scary new place where there were no familiar faces. My decision to move to Meadow Ridge in 2007 was one of the best decisions of my life.

My neck makes weird popping, crunchy noises it did not make before treatment. My shoulders hurt more and are weaker than before treatment. As part of her treatment Dr. Woo pulled my arms back and away from my body while I was face down, and pulled my legs in the same way. She also used cupping on my shoulders and upper back. Her treatments have left me worse off. I regret receiving treatment from her.
