It turned out to be a nightmare. After 3 days, we were told they needed to discharge him because he did not meet "Medicare criteria" for in patient hospice. Within six days, we had plans for the move to a freestanding facility. My husband passed away the night before the move was to take place. The day before the move was to take place, Hospice in Branford called to make arrangement to move him to their facility and that he "met the criteria". This experience was traumatizing to me and my family. I would discourage anyone from using this organization for their loved one.

It was the only company that had a supervisor periodically visit to observe firsthand how things were going. Plus, it was reassuring to know that an RN oversees the caregivers. The caregiver placed with my dad, Alisha W., was truly amazing. She was extremely patient and upbeat when faced with challenging circumstances. She had such a great attitude and went above and beyond, whether it was taking him on fun outings, staying late to take him to a doctor's appointment (even when I said no problem to send him home in a taxi), or noticing when he had a new medical issue that needed attention. She was able to establish rapport and a meaningful relationship with him when most of his other relationships fell away due to his condition. She even managed to make him feel comfortable using some personal care products for the first time, which was quite a feat.I feel so lucky to have Alisha in my dad's life! Finally had to go to court to try and get my money back. So buyer beware they will NOT return any extra payments. I would advise anyone to only pay as you go when things are about to end for your loved one. The office doesn't care to return anything without a fight. Over the years I paid them tens of thouands of dollars, but they would not return a partial months over payment. Disgraceful.

My parents were determined to live in their big, old house as long as possible and they did, well…read moreinto their 90s. My mother's sudden illness and my father's ongoing decrease in mobility created the situation that they could no longer live in a multi story house independently. We were so fortunate that they had looked into Brightview on New Canaan a month or so before my mother's illness. Within two weeks of the decision to move, and a week after my mother's return from the hospital, they were moved into a bright and sunny 2 bedroom apartment at Brightview. It was an emotional roller coaster for them and it took a team approach by the rest of the family to get all the furniture and their belongings moved in. The staff at Brightview are incredible and make sure that my parents feel valued and are safe and happy. Michele was indispensable in making the transition as smooth as possible.
