I loved this place when I lived in Ramona! My husband and I used to go here once a week!

Food has been excellent lately. I recommend the club sandwich, it's always a winner, gyro with lamb is huge and a delicious meal. Chicken fried steak breakfast is awesome. Honey walnut shrimp is delicious especially with the provided sambal for your rice, broccoli beef and BBQ pork fried rice are also good. Can't really go wrong with one of their salads, or soups for that matter. Right now the special soup is clam chowder... wow! Probably the best I've had. I've never encountered any grit and the soup base is exceptionally flavored. The sampler appetizer has been remarkably well cooked lately and the calamari is a standout. I had a "burger" with grilled chicken today, added bleu cheese and bacon, and I swear there was probably 8 pieces of bacon at least. Yum! As far as my last review, I just about swallowed my tongue today and was about to leave to eat in the food court instead when I saw the aforementioned Marline and thought we were seated in her section. As it turns out our server was our favorite, Bryan. He is on top of his game, probably one of the best servers we've had, anywhere. From now on before we're seated I'll ask if he's working and if so, will happily wait to be seated in his section. Confused that Marline is still working there, especially since her demeanor has not changed ( I witnessed her unending scowl, and we weren't even her table) but am happy that Bryan is a go to for superior service. Umm ordered medium rare but got an alive steak, great food! Then asked for a refill and didn't get my drink, and idek.

I eat here often. The prices are great, it's open late, and there is porch seating that looks over the lake and golf course. The menu is a little bit of everything, with some items better than others. My go-to is the gorgeous Cobb salad with rare tuna steak, but the Pad Thai and the Monte Cristo are other favorites. The fish and chips and the waffles have been disappointing in my experience. Despite my best pretense of willpower, I have usually eaten too much bread by the time my meal is ready. Most entrees come with a soup or salad: my boyfriend loves the chicken tortilla soup so much that I ask for it as well and he eats both bowls! The service can be a little slow sometimes --especially when going through a rush of hotel guests or during a special event at the casino --but has always been friendly. Sage is good enough that I make the drive up the mountain to eat here even when I don't plan on going to the casino. read more

The good thing is that this place opens 24 hours. If it's late at night and you are roaming around Barona with an excessive amount of player points when hunger strikes your tummy, this is a good spot to solve your dilemma. We ordered three items from the Asian menu and a lonely BLT sandwich. Everything came with a bowl of tortilla soup (or whichever happens to be the soup of the day). Bread was not offered, however ask and you shall receive. The Asian items were OK but definitely skip the BLT; the fries could have been cooked with dry ice, while the bacon was rock solid. WORST SERVICE EVER. The only good part is that they give us comp food. Everytime we come here its a long wait even though their not busy. They make us wait and then after looking inside and seeing a lot of room we ask if our table is ready and then they decide all of a sudden their now able to seat us... Happened twice ... There's some emo girl who works in front who gives you such dirty looks... Some white girl who looks like she shouldn't even work here . All the girls in the front seem like their just there to stand there .... seriously so irritating... my parents are big players here and we would always here and usually have a good experience buy lately they need to get their hostesses on point. The food is pretty much like the rest of the hotels food... Their fried bread is yummy ... But seriously I'm going to get the girls name and find their supervisor, unfortunately that's how irritating it is read more

We were here last night for dinner. I ordered the broiled salmon that came with garlic fried rice, french green beans, pistachio nuts and a cup of chicken tortilla soup. The rest of my table ordered a entree wedge salad with a cup of albondigas soup, honey shrimp with walnuts, white rice & a side wedge salad and the gamblers short ribs with a baked potato, french green beans and a cup of chicken tortilla soup. The food was pretty good. My tortilla soup was just warm and needed to be really mixed before you could taste all the flavors melding together. My salmon was cooked perfectly and I enjoyed the simple & tasteful way the kitchen prepared it. I did not care for the garlic fried rice with pistachio nuts. It was a weird combination with the salmon and green beans. The gamblers short-ribs entree was huge and it was slathered with good ole American BBQ sauce. I could have done without the BBQ sauce because the sauce went to waste on this cut of meat. The honey walnut shrimp was more tangy than I like it to be but it was still pretty yummy. Service was ok but kind of slow. According to the other diners, the service here is slow but I think that's just relative since I'm the most anxious to get back on the casino floor. LOL. The Indian fry bread was warm and fresh - it was super delicious. The other sourdough bread roll that they serve was too dense and I didn't like it very much. The decor is classy looking but the dim lighting and noisy crowds made it uncomfortable for me. Thank you! read more

I'm so used to going to the buffet at Barona, I didn't realize Sage Cafe existed. My parents are regulars at Barona. Instead of our family having dinner at the buffet, we had a change of venue. It was my first time at Sage Cafe after all these past years attending the Casino. My parents go there all the time, especially when my dad wants steak. The restaurant is tucked away in back, near the non-smoking area. It is nice, clean and quiet. If you are looking for a specific meal (aside from the all-you-can-eat buffet), to be seated and served, this is the place to be. There are a variety of dishes listed on the menu. Most of them are related to what you see at the buffet. Prices vary. I believe breakfast is served all day. I ordered the rib eye steak with baked potato and green beans. It was a good size slab of meat. I was only able to eat half of what was served. I was shocked to see that they also serve spam, eggs and rice. Good to know! There are a variety of international dishes as well. If you don't feel like having a buffet and just want to relax in a quiet restaurant setting, check out Sage Cafe. I love the Sage Cafe. Food is cheap and incredibly good and filling. We usually go for the prime rib dinner. It comes with mashed potatoes, green beans and soup or salad and dessert. By the time we're done with soup we're usually too full to get to dinner..also it starts with amazing Indian fry bread. We paid 30 bucks for two dinners and two beverages last time and it all was very timely. I will knock it because I've yet to have a meal their where the servers either don't have an attitude or like they want to be any where but there. read more

I come here all the time. The food is delicious and the servers really go above and beyond for your requests. I've come here with my mom who is allergic to gluten and they're always willing to make a little modification here or there. One time I ordered a tea that they used to carry there but had since began only serving it in the Italian restaurant. I didn't even have to beg, our server hurried on to the restaurant and retrieved a few teabags. I'd only ever had a bad experience with one waiter who just seemed like he had made his home down in the dumps. Super unfriendly. We spoke to the manager who gave him a talking to and ever since that waiter really tries hard when he sees us. I'm native so I've been coming to the sage semi-regularly pretty much ever since it was built. That being said I'm also a foodie and really enjoy good food. Granted, the line can be long sometimes during rush hours and the servers may look overwhelmed during those moments, but I'd be stressed out too if I had to deal with the insanely rude people who those servers deal with. For real, I've sat at my table and literally gasped at the horrendous manners of some people. Sad! In the end, I can always rely on The Sage for quality food and service. read more

I have been here most recently for breakfast. I went with out-of-town visitors and then I went back with my boyfriend last weekend. OMG, excellent both times. The coffee here is so good, so flavorful, it's truly a cup I look forward to now. I've had their eggs and omelettes but the breakfast that stands out is the corned beef hash. It's "homemade" and has chopped onions, it's seasoned perfectly, I will order it again, perfection! I don't know where the Sage Cafe gets their bread but I love their toast, it's really good and they give you a basket of real butter packs and jams, yummy! We always sit by the windows, it's such a nice view of the golf course lake, we will be coming back soon! read more

Excellent food and a wonderful value. Service is usually poor. Vegetarians should try the Vegetable Wellington...it is amazing. Give yourself plenty of time for slow service. I wish the level of service was as amazing as the food and value. read more

I originally came to Barona for the buffet but the wait was over an hour long so my family and I went to Sage Cafè which isn't near the food court. There was no wait at all which I was surprised because it was a Sunday and we were seated immediately. While we waited for the food to arrive they brought out bread, and I must say the bread is incredibly AMAZING!! The food arrived and the food was delicious. I definitely recommend their garlic cheese toast as a beginner. I also ordered s vegetarian lasagna and was very satisfied with it! The price for food is also very reasonable! I come here all the time now rather than the buffet. read more

Today I took my family's at barona Sage to enjoy the steak and lobster lunch and my mom ordered New York steak, how ever we both ordered rare and they both came out well done, we asked the waitress if they could cook another steak thats rare, i have to stop eating and they took my plate and took my mom new Your steak. After ten minutes the order came in and the steak is cold inside, it's rare though but it's frozen inside looks like they force to cooked a frozen rib eye as bloody rare. My mom talked to the floor manager and explained about our terrible service on how the food is been, so my mom insists to return the steak to the kitchen and she going to pay the shrimp and bake potato. However I was waiting for my manager to at least apologize for the inconvenience however I did not here any remark from him or customer service on his behalf. Be side the waitress was not very attentive. I go to steak to order expensive stuff on the menu; but my experience today was beyond the bad and ugliest service on the restaurant service in my life and I work for hospitality service and I know the good, great and bad one. Sage Cafe is the bomb. Im a regular customer there. I have tried almost everything on the menu, and the food has always been great. And if there is something that is not on the menu the chef will take care of u. Try the fried chicken and waffles. read more

I have been here multiple times, you can say I have the entire menu memorized lol. When you walk in your comforted with a nice fireplace and antiques. The decor throughout the restaurant is very nice. I've never been dissatisfied with the food, it's very fresh, comforting, and flavorful. I usually order the salmon or burger and both are reasonably priced. Now the reason I'm giving this place 2 star is because of the HORRIBLE service. Now remember I've been here many many times and almost every time I've had very bad service. One Time I walked in and the hostess Brittany (I think) was talking poorly about another coworker and saying unnecessary things which was very mean and unprofessional, she gave off that vibe of she didn't want to be at work. Another time my boyfriend and I were seated and the hostess said your server neeko will be right with you. We sat for 17 min with no service and a table that came in after us were helped first, We got up and left . Again we had another situation with that same waiter, we waited for about 7 min this time and when he came we were ready to order.When the food came out it was completely wrong, it took him a very long time to get us the condiments we wanted and we never got refills on our drinks. He's usually our waiter because me and boyfriend gamble at night. And once we asked for some bread and he didn't bring it until our food came out. Really? We shouldn't even have to ask you. However I've been here in the morning and taleena was super friendly and fast, which was awesome cause it was a win win. Good food, good service. After spending thousands at the casino the least I can get back is some good service. read more

Barona has the best restaurants! The Sage is no exception. I've eaten there several times. It's always awesome. Our last visit on Tuesday was the usual great experience. My 2 friends and I went for lunch. The server was very friendly and attentive. We had the club sandwich (Delicious!) with onion rings that were perfect. The pork lo mein, and the meat loaf were also so delicious. This great meal helped use recover from our gambling losses. We'll be back for sure. read more

Barona definitely has the best restaurants of all the local casinos. This cafe is great in that it is open 24 hours (many other offer just fast food places during the night), and its food is really food! I especially like the broiled salmon dish. Their chicken tortilla soup used to be the best in town, but it is not as good as it used to be a couple of years ago. When busy, the service isn't up to par (and they don't seem to be prepared for those days they SHOULD know they'd be swamped, like during their Lotteries). All in all, a nice place to get a good meal and away from the noisy casino for awhile! read more

Food is terrific here and much better than the buffet they have. I really like the fried bread they give you complimentary. When you run out they don't hesitate to give you a refill either. I love everyone that works here except this one hispanic waiter that you can tell hates doing his job. He always purposely ignores me flagging him down for a drink refill. Need condiments? Ask him and he'll smile and tell you what you want to hear and never come back. Other than this special individual, I recommend the place. If your coming for the prime rib special here, you should just do the buffet because its identical. read more

So I don't go to Barona a ton, but normally when we stay overnight we do the steakhouse for dinner and then this for brunch the next day. So usually the food is pretty good, especially the tortilla soup . We went in, there was no wait so needless to say the restaurant wasn't at capacity. We were shortly greeted by the served who took our order and that was basically the last we saw of her. We waited 30 minutes to receive our water (after basically begging a bus boy to bring us some) and waited over an hour for the meal. When the food came out, it was brought by someone in the kitchen as he was dressed in a cook's outfit and was saying "I don't know what happened but this has been sitting ready for 40 minutes". He then set down the cold to touch food (as if we would want it). We then flagged down anyone and asked for our waitress who took another ten minutes to come over. When she finally arrived, she offered zero apologies and just mumbled "I've been getting drinks". Basically worst service ever. read more
