I wish they could do a 4.5 as this place would end up there. Between 4 and 5, it's closer to a 4 due to service and ambiance thought the food is a solid 5! Random find in Middletown NY area w the family. No reservation needed and pretty dead when we showed up. They haven't updated the sitting area for a long long time. Bar from the 70s or 80s and classic wall and booth setup for Indian restaurant in random US city. The food though... wow! Started with good samosas (though a tad bit small). They had onion chutney which not all have anymore. The mulgatawny soup though... over the top. Second best I've ever had. The main dish had solid taste and flavor on two chicken dishes. The rice came with a nice garnish and the garlic naan was perfectly cooked. The raita was solid and the gulag jamun had a good balance of taste without overly being sweet. All in all, they need a better service on the meals and to upgrade the room and it would be a solid 5 star restaurant. As it is, from a food perspective alone, it could push 5+ on a 5 star rating.

We had a great dinner here last week. I can't believe we didn't hear about them til recently. We had chicken Tikka masala which was a little different than usual, but really good. Shrimp Biryanis. Lamb Rogan Josh. All very good. Service was good but they were a little shorthanded. Owners came out to check on us too. We will be back!

We were on our way to visit and stay with our daughter for thanksgiving before traffic gets bad, stopped i Middletown. Reviewed Yelp for vegetarian Indian food and Saffron Restaurant showed up being nearest as and had good reviews so stopped in. Has enough parking in plaza were it's located snd well lighted spaced parking. A liquor store is next to it.since, present management is in process of getting their liquor license, they allow BYOB! Which we found out after asking for wine/ beer. Seating area has booths and tables, we requested booth seating. Menu had lots of veg items along with others. See photos for of them herewith attached. Ordered Mutter Paneer and Mixed vegetables in Jafrazi sauce -cashew and almonds and spiced up- to medium hot. Also ordered Naan- Bread as Rice is served with order of curries. Presentation was really impressive and aroma of cooked food is still fresh as of writing this review !!. Service was very efficient and had clean restrooms. Manager Tony stoped in to inquire about our experience and if we needed anything which is novel after Covid-19's outdoor restaurant eating ...

This place has the most delicious Indian around! Our waitress Savita was very attentive and kind. The butter chicken is to die for as well as the Saag paneer and aloo gobi. If you're looking for a great place to dine with the family look no further. The vibes are immaculate and the music is bumping. Also be sure to try the mango lassi, rather decadent.

The food is awesome. The portions are generous. If you are a couple one entree and an appetizer is more than enough.

But if the food keeps tasting like this, I may have to reconsider my entire personality. The second we walked through the doors, everything slowed down. Soft lighting, warm energy, the smell of fresh spices in the air, quiet conversations floating through the room -- it didn't feel like walking into a restaurant, it felt like walking into someone's home. The kind of place that makes you instantly exhale without even realizing you were holding tension in your body. Nothing about this place feels rushed. The atmosphere invites you to stay awhile. To eat slowly. To talk longer. To actually enjoy the people sitting across from you. We started with the tempura battered vegetables and good lord... crispy, fresh, addictive. Then came the Red Dot salad -- easily one of the best chopped salads I've ever had. Fresh ingredients, bold flavor, every bite tasted intentional. And then the tiki masala arrived and honestly... it felt comforting in a way food rarely does anymore. Warm, rich, healing, like the culinary version of a hug from a stranger who somehow already understands you. You can feel the love in this place. In the food. In the atmosphere. In the people. If you're in a rush, grab takeout. But this is really a place meant to be experienced. Sit down. Stay awhile. Eat, talk, laugh, savor. Total eat, pray, love energy.

We tried the vegetable Manchurian and it was so good. Outside of India this is the first time I loved the Manchurian so much. Paneer ke shole was great. It never disappoints. Palak Patta chaat was delicious too. Super crispy and fresh. For the main course, we had malai kofta super creamy and yum. Their dal tadka is simple yet so flavorful. Naan - soft and buttery. Hakka noodles - perfect. It's so difficult to find Hakka noodles with less oil and this was just perfect. Overall wonderful experience with a family of 8 adults and 2 infants.

The interior is especially impressive--stylish, modern, and warmly lit with dim lighting that creates a relaxed, upscale dining atmosphere that's perfect for a date night or quiet dinner. That said, a couple small things knocked it just shy of five stars. The parking lot is a bit awkwardly shaped and not the easiest to navigate, and on a colder day the dining area felt a little drafty, which took away slightly from the otherwise cozy vibe. Overall, the food and ambiance absolutely make Tamarind worth visiting, and with just a few comfort tweaks, this would easily be a 5-star spot. Would definitely return.

Great service and friendly staff at this Sri Lankan restaurant…read more The manager/owner used to be a chef at the UN after traveling the world for various stints after leaving Sri Lanka at age 25. He will fill you with his wealth of knowledge of Sri Lankan food as well as how his food is pure and wholesome. Food was very good. I had Sri Lankan rice entree specialty dish. Except for the the shrimp tasting like dried shrimp - which I hate with a passion the rest of the dish was pretty good. No complaints from my other guests who enjoyed their meals. The dessert was great. They have both vegetarian (including goat, beef, pork, shrimp, squid, and chicken) and non-vegetarian options. It fell short of five stars for two reasons: 1. the dried shrimp or dried fish taste in the dish (shimp, calamari, and chicken); and 2. the moderately high prices (I can only compare to prices at Indian restaurants in the city, and what people are typically paying for the same portion size at casual sit down restaurants) Since we don't frequent this location often it is a treat to stop by every once in awhile and introduce my friends to it. If you are on a budget and consume large volumes of food to be full, this is most likely a one off or a place you may want to skip. Otherwise, enjoy it. On premise parking lot and seems ADA compliant. It looks like it is in a house, but inside it is comfortable and casual. It appears there is allot more local customers than visitors from out of town. The interior plays tourist information on Sri Lanka while the interior is also decorated in culturally appropriate ascents. We were there on a Saturday for dinner and the space was fairly empty - perhaps two other tables occupied. It is in sort of a remote area outside the main drag of Beacon most are familiar with (not within reasonable walking distance). It's worth a try, especially if you are interested in healthier forms of food (ingredients).

Sure enough, I found Momo Garden. Being convenient to my itinerary, I invited a local friend to join me for a quick lunch (just momo's), and a chance to scope the rest of the menu. Their website and sign say open at noon on Saturdays, but they were already open when I arrived a few minutes before that. We were given hot tea after being seated. I don't know if you always get that (they have a chai on the menu), but because the restaurant was still warming up from the chilly morning, the tea was very welcome. Various other alcoholic and non-alcoholic beverages are also available. Papadam and sauces were also brought to the table. The momo's come in 2 varieties, chicken and vegetable, and you can get them in several ways, including fried, steamed, and Jhol, which is the street-food style served in broth. These were delicious, even better with the dipping sauce. The vegetable ones might fall apart a little bit, so you may want to use a spoon instead of a fork, to be sure you get every bit of the deliciousness. This is a great addition to the area. The rest of the menu will just have to wait until my next visit.
