On Main Street at Lafayette on bus route #8 Main you will find this spacious restaurant. Our wait person was polite and helpful and made sure our orders were promptly placed with the kitchen. The food looked exactly like the pictures on the menu. Very flavorful and delicious. The big green vegetables are not green peppers - they're jalapeno peppers. Be advised. Kind of nostalgic eating in the old record theater! Restaurant was large, very clean and cute decor. When I looked at menu, little wide eyed over prices, but once you get your food it all makes sense. The serving sizes were large. The food was great. We started off with the Mantu (dumplings) these were absolutely amazing! There had do be at least a dozen in the order. The flavor was so good! And they were smothered with a tasty yogurt sauce! I could of just ordered those and been happy! For my meal got the Vaziri, with chicken and lamb. I loved it. The lamb was delicious, and the chicken was seasoned and cooked well, and some of the best saffron basmati rice! It came with a green hot sauce and a white sauce, both delicious!!! The hot sauce brought the heat. Also tried the Kabuili Palau, national dish of Afghanistan. Again large portion, with flavor. Not my favorite dish, but was happy give it a try! The naan was not the naan I'm use too, the table enjoyed it. Sipped on the saffron Tea. It was good came piping hot, with a honey stick, I tried it before the honey stick and really didn't need it but after the honey stick it did kick the taste up! The service, the staff there (two we saw) super nice, but service definitely lacks. We were the only ones in there for the majority of our lunch and other than taking our order and bringing food we didn't see anyone. I even had to go to counter get check and to go boxes. Again, they are super nice when Interacting, but if you are someone wants constant interaction, this was not our experience. read more

I have been lucky enough to try Persian cuisine several times, so I was excited to see this place open on Main Street. It's incredible to see the old record theater beautifully transformed! Wonderful service and hospitality. The chai was hot and delicious. The wrap wasn't my favorite, so I'd recommend trying something else from the menu. Their qabili was very good! Two of us had a wonderful dining experience here. The only reason for 4 stars instead of 5 is that the bread was not the soft, fluffy version we've had at other restaurants serving food from this region of the world (Persian). Wish we could remember what all we ordered, but the photos will have to substitute for that. The dessert was firni, made with basmati rice, cardamom, and other ingredients. Business was very slow, on a Sunday evening, but our service was fine. The other customers, judging by their clothing and their language, all seemed to be from areas where this food would be their daily food. This is a great addition to Main Street/Canisius. There is no doubt the food here is delicious. It's a limited menu of Afghani and Persian favorites, but everything tastes fresh and made with love. The portions are huge too and the meat is halal. But this place is still a work in progress. First, there is no clear indication of their hours of operation. It looks like they are closed on Mondays, but the hours are not posted anywhere. I've also showed up at 11 am, when they are supposed to be open, and then someone rushed out to open the door for us. My former student and I went there for lunch today (Sunday at noon), and walked in to a giant empty room. We sat down and chatted for a good 15 min. Then, I went to look for someone, and found an employee who looked totally drained. It's like he was either too sleepy or hungover to know anyone had walked in and made no effort to see if there were customers. I really wish they had started small and not opened a massive restaurant from the start. read more

Dined in on Saturday 9/6/2025. Amazing Persian cuisine! Just wow! Grilled meats (beef kabob "kubideh" and chicken "saffron tikka kabob" ) and saffron (the most expensive spice in the world) infused basmati rice so fluffy and flavorful. You got to try this melt in your mouth cuisine. Priced right for this quality and quantity. So excited Saffron Kitchen is in the city of Buffalo! We need more Middle Eastern food especially Persian. Friendly service. The classic Persian hospitality and warmth! Parking in front of their door on Main Street. They also have a parking lot on the side street next to their building. Interesting fact: they are exactly where the old Record Theatre was! Buffalonians will remember. A beautiful transformation of this site. They are expecting to host banquets and large gatherings. I'm a fan of this place! I've been twice for lunch. It's the old record theater space, so it's a pretty big. The food is outstanding. For dining in, the menu is small and very curated, which is great. I believe their takeout menu is larger. They seem to do a healthy takeout business - every time I've been there I've seen a bunch of people doing takeout. I find the food terrific. Yesterday I had the eggplant dish, which is served with rice and a little bit of a cucumber and tomato salad. My dining companion had the french fries, which I have to say I ate more than my fair share of, because they're very very good. Street parking. read more

Beautiful ambience is the first impression. Secondly, food presentation, quantity and quality are superb. The staff are friendly and customer service is top-notch. I have not had such tasty Afghan food before. The mantu is a must and the kabuli pulao has the most tender meat. Absolutely delicious! Highly recommend. Chai was good but for some reason it came out at the very end of our meal even though we were the only ones dining (which should have been our first hint not to stop in). Beware shady business practices. I placed a pickup order on GrubHub, but when I arrived to pick up the food at the scheduled time the restaurant was closed. GrubHub said they could not refund my money, so I called the restaurant when they re-opened. The employee said she would ask and get back to me, but never did. I called again and she said it's not their fault my food was cold. I re-explained that I never even received the food. She again said that she would ask and get back to me, but never did. Why did their restaurant even confirm my Grubhub order with no intention of fulfilling it? Where did my money go? Luckily my credit card refunded me, but I will never attempt to give Saffron my business again. read more

It's a big, bright open space with vintage architectural details, although it does feel like a banquet hall. We were a party of 4, and the only ones there on a Tuesday night, yet we had to share 2 menus between us. I ordered a chicken kabob dish and it was very delicious, fresh tasting, and a decent amount of food. However, we were given a few tiny dishes of condiments to add more flavor, which it needed, and we had to share those between us too. Just not enough. After our waiter dropped off our food, there was no follow up, no service, no checking on us to see if we needed anything. Felt more like take out service. The food was excellent. Having never had Afghan or Persian food, we asked our waitress for recommendations and she did not steer us wrong. She recommended the dumplings which were on special which were fabulous. Well seasoned and an excellent yogurt sauce with bright herbs. The two mains that we got were also flavorful and sizeable. She offered to do one chicken and one beef/lamb kabob for the second instead of two of the same. She was right - "chicken is chicken." I much preferred the lamb and beef in both dishes. I believe the Qabli Palow (lamb with rice and raisins and carrots) was my favorite. I don't love raisins so I thought I wouldn't like it but it was fantastic. Highly recommend. read more

horrible we ordered food and have like about 10 ppl and we tipped them 30$ after paying a 500$ order they told us we have to pay them 70$ tip and said that our waiter eas like new so he didn't know that he had to charge extra if u have more then 7 ppl but that was like my 3rd time at that place and after she said if we didnt want to we don't have to then she walked away and sat at this table with 2-3 other ppl for us it wasn't about the money thought bcz tip's aren't mandatory and she was rlly rude to me and my family we gave her the extra 40$ and left the place and told her that we wouldn't go back bcz of that . read more
