I loved The Halal Guys the year they opened and they were still good the year after the shutdown. I went there often for their outstanding beef gyro. I finally got a chance to go back last week. Sadly, it was a big let down. The meager portion of meat was all small crumbles, and it came from a pan full of the same. It was not even the last bits. That was all that seemed changed. I've never tried their chicken, but the other ingredients were as good as I remembered. The people that work there still had that rare combination of being friendly, helpful, and efficient. When they opened I thought their prices were high, but worth it for the superior gyros. Now the price is too high for what I got, even considering inflation. I don't know how the Halah Guys can survive when this area has so many Greek diners with decent gyros. The Boulevard lifestyle center was a nightmare before the border reopened. Parking is a nightmare and walking at all in the lot is taking your life into your hands. Upside: Food is solid. The meats were moist and had flavor. The hot sauce is hot- if Frank's is spicy for you then you won't be able to handle it. Suggestion: get it on the side. The white sauce could have used a bit more garlic but that is of a personal preference. Overall: due to location I won't necessarily drive here to eat but if I'm already at the plaza? Decided to give this place a try. I was actually headed to get a salad and took a detour. The reviews were great so why not. Nice atmosphere and they were VERY serious about social distancing. They had a nice system of leaving the food out as the order comes up. You were able to serve yourself with very little interaction. We brought the food home and it was still hot. The pita bread was soft and had just enough butter. The meat and veggies were fresh and tasteful. The highlight of the meal though, was the amazing white sauce I kept seeing mentioned. This locations is very convenient if you're shopping in the area - also right beside crumbl cookies. This was my first time trying halal guys and I enjoyed it. I came here most recently and ordered a chicken and beef platter and loved it. I've had Halal Guys from a NYC cart before and the franchised version of it in Buffalo is pretty similar. The grilling takes place in the back and the white sauce is delicious. The chicken and beef were tasty and I had the combo with rice, lettuce and tomatoes and added some onions on top. For the portion I got, I thought the price was fair and reasonable and a pro-tip for people who go here hungry: SLOW DOWN. I ate my meal way too quick and stuffed myself, when I could have leftovers for at least my next meal. Oops. The hot sauce is SUPER spicy, so I recommend steering clear or only getting a small little bit of it unless you taste buds and stomach can handle it. Everything tasted great, except the falafel. The falafel were hard, poorly seasoned, sad little hockey pucks. My go to is the Combo Platter which comes with a beef gyro and chicken, rice, lettuce (tomatoes if you want them), pita, and some add on vegetables. Wow this place is good! I came in today because I've been wanting to try this place for a while but haven't had the opportunity until today. When I came in I was a little nervous because I've never eaten here and I didn't know what to order. But luckily Angel was here to help me out. He explained all of my options and made some recommendations. He made the experience totally painless for me. I got a platter with chicken and I opted for a scoop of the olives and also the baba ghanouj which are a dollar extra each but totally worth it! I wasn't sure which sauce to try but Angel said the white sauce is everyone's favorite so I went with that. I can see why it's everyone's favorite! Creamy and slightly tangy, it was delish. To fully appreciate and understand this restaurant, you need to know its origins before it has now become a growing franchise across the country. It started off as literally the best cart food in NYC that I know off the corner of 6th Ave and 53rd St. It served chicken and rice where the lines were literally wrapped around the block anytime it was open. That cart is easily a 5 star spot. I can't be certain but the franchise restaurants don't seem to have the exact recipes as the cart. I've been to 3 different locations and they all seem to be of different quality. This location in Buffalo is definitely better than some of the others. I never heard of Halal food, but I did know I was about to eat some Mediterranean type dish. Halal guys is a fast food restaurant that serves Mediterranean food. To be honest it's nothing like the real authentic type food. But it's ok if your looking for something that's real quick. It's set up similar to Rachel's and Cava. You choose your protein, sides and toppings. Finally you have a choice on the type of sauce you would like. The prices is very reasonable and the serving sizes are pretty nice. It was my very first time trying food from here after hearing some positive things. With everything going on and hours changing, I sometimes fall in a bad habit of waiting too late to find something to pick up and then not knowing what to get or where to go based on what's open. Fortunately, not only was Halal Guys still open, but it was something different than my norm. Ordering was painless and easy. I ordered ahead on their website, and by the time I got there, the bag was marked, stapled shut, and left on a pickup table near the ordering station. They are still open if you want to go right in and order as you normally would. I ordered two of their platters. One chicken platter with rice and pita and another beef/gyro one with the same. The meat and rice were seasoned well. They were hearty platters. Enough for leftovers. And the pita was OK. They offer both a hot sauce and a signature white sauce. The hot sauce is SUPER HOT. I loved it. So did my sinuses. However, if you're not a fan of spice or sensitive to it, then I highly recommend you steer clear of it. And you definitely don't need a lot of it when you use it. And you should have something to drink nearby. My mouth was on fire. The white sauce is really good as well. Flavorful but not the inferno, so something for everyone. The combination of both on my meal brought even more heat and flavor than where I started. It was filling, good, reasonably priced, and it's something I would consider getting again to break myself out of a routine with takeout. My husband and I always used to go to the food cart in NYC in Midtown when we visited, so we were super excited when one opened 5min from our house. We went when it originally opened in the spring/summer and were pleasantly surprised. I think the prices are a bit higher than the truck but I think it probably goes to the overhead of renting the building, etc. Tonight we ordered door dash thanks to the crappy weather and a promo with our credit card where we get free delivery for a year and a statement credit of $60. Thanks Chase Sapphire! From order to delivery, it was 20min. Amazingly fast, especially for a Saturday night! We both got the combo chicken and gyro platter. I think it's totally worth it to spend $1 on the "regular" size vs the small, because I always get at least two meals out of it. What I didn't like was that the ordering options didn't include white sauce on the platter, which they freely squirt on your platter in store. The only option was to add a sauce packet for 59 cents. Both of us put in the notes to put a lot of white sauce on the platter, and the order just came with two packets. Not a huge deal, but don't like being nickle and dimed when the sauce is free in store. The options to add extra lettuce or tomato were also extra, when in store is also free, unless something changed since the last time I went. Overall great door dash experience, just wish the options weren't extra for the basic toppings. read more

I absolutely love places that I get to get in line, order something off a menu/create whatever I want, watch them make it, and then get to eat it. When you walk into Halal Guys, you are greeted and begin a process very similar to the likes of Chipotle, Moes, Etc where you get to make whatever you would like and pick from ton of different options. I proceeded to order the new BBQ chicken platter with rice, lettuce (I opted out of other veggies but they have a large selection) and that delicious naan I'll never get enough of. The food was made super quick and before I knew it I was at my table trying to eat like a responsible adult instead of a feral dog (or any dog for that matter). How was the food? I LOVED IT! The BBQ chicken had a great flavour and matched well with the yellow rice I had under it, and was topped off by some naan that tasted equally as good. My final verdict? Thumbs up! Welcome to WNY! This Halal Guys is hopefully the first of many more to the WNY area. We drove out from Rochester with the hope of capitvating some NYC flavor. The rice, falafel and hummus were on point. The flavors of the white sauce and quantity of white sauce was a little much. The customer service was very nice, but there seemed to only be one guy who had any clue about what he was doing. If you're a vegetarian, skip the pita because there's something going on with it (see other reviews). Will give this restaurant a try, in the hopes of some improvements. I'm from NYC where halal carts are a staple. This place is definitely the closest thing I've had Really yummy! I got the beef platter which comes with rice, lettuce, tomatoes, beef, and some pita, topped with EXTRA red and white sauce. I like to drown my halal in sauce because I love the spice! My boyfriend got the same thing, but we definitely could have shared 1 platter because the serving was fairly large. You have a choice between chicken or beef. Unfortunately they don't serve lamb :( My only complaint is that the menu states extra sauce costs more money - and as someone who LOVES the sauce, this is a little bit of a turn off. I was there for the soft opening and they continually walked around with extra sauce bottles (at no charge), so I'm not sure if the extra charge listed on the menu actually applies. It would be nice if they had bottles on the tables for patrons to add their own sauce to their liking. Staff was extremely friendly and very attentive! I have been waiting for halal guys to open since they announce that halal guys was gonna open around Amherst area. My bf and I have been driving down to this place for months trying to find out when they will be opening. I visited them during their soft opening and again recently. The last time I got their chicken platter and this time I decided to give their combo platter. My bf got a chicken sandwich. It was delicious and of course crowded too. It doesn't taste as similar as the NYC one because the NYC has more of a different kind of street cart food taste. Don't get me wrong, I love this place here. It is still delicious. A tip would be to ask for their white sauce and red sauce on the side. A lot of people think their red sauce is spicy. I can handle spice really well, so this red sauce is not spicy for me but Iwould say if you can't handle spice, don't put it all over your food. You will regret it. My bf regretted when he dipped a lot of the sanwich into the hot sauce. Also get the regular platter instead of the small because the difference is so little and you can always take your food back. It's only $1 different. They are very good portion and everything is pretty even. They come with pita, lettuce and their famous rice. It's really delicious.
