The food was awesome and very tasty, portions were perfect for ONE person. I had the Shami kebab 2 skewers with salad and naan cooked too perfection and perfectly spiced. My family members had waziri plate , chicken and shami kebab with rice salad and naan all meals were perfectly spiced and plenty of food on each plate. I would recommend this place for halal choices. Last night, after having a long trip from California, we decided to eat at Afghan Kabob. Despite them having 3.5 stars, we still insisted on eating there. We went there at 10 pm. Dad ordered food, and the lady behind the counter said it would take 15 minutes for our food to be ready, and she said we could not dine inside. After 20 minutes, when our food was not prepared, I went to the counter again. I asked nicely if our food was ready and if we could dine inside since we were super tired from the long California trip and had to drive an extra two hours or something to our hotel in downtown Toronto. She said no, they close at 11, and she has school or something early in the morning. In the meantime, another rude dude walked near the counter and said in a loud and disrespectful voice that customers cannot dine inside after 10 pm and said that is their policy, but I could not find any signs saying that customers cannot dine inside after 10 pm. Also, there is nothing mentioned on their website as well. Considering that dude's bad attitude and rudeness, it seemed he was being forced to work there. The restaurant's leadership, please look into this matter, don't force him to work, and let him go. This is not a healthy way to run a business. If dining inside is impossible after 10 pm, please post a sign informing your customers to stop creating more confusion. The food was ok but could have been better. Surprisingly this Afghan kabob House wasn't all that good. I expected better for some reason? I like how they have pics for all their dishes but the way they price items don't make sense; just numbers were shown but nothing specific to. The tax rates are pretty high for an American so expect a slightly expensive dish. My small plate for $14 came to around $22 due to taxes that aren't disclosed. We ordered the meat kabob with chicken and rice. The only thing I liked was their house made chutney and their bread naan. The rice wasn't as good nor was their thinly sized kabobs. It wasn't heavy looking or full of flavors. Service was nice too because it was a mom & pop shop. This spot can be much better and I see the potential of it. read more

Food was ok but I am extremely disappointed at the customer service. An old uncle took our order and he was nice but then came the lady. Right when she served the food, I had a phone call so picked it up and out of respect I left the table and went by the door to talk. 30 secs into the call, she came and said "you need to sit down and eat as we are closing at 10 (it was 950PM then). So I hung up the call and stayed eating. Mind that I had my wife and 3 kids (6 month old, 4 year and 6 year old). Anyway in the next 30 minutes 3 other customers came and mind that they were still taking orders even 30 mins past 10 so I guess they weren't really closed at 10. Anyway, I helped my kids finish the food and hence I couldn't finish mine. So I asked the lady if I can have a takeout box. She literally replied to me saying "I told you to sit down and finish the food and see you didn't". I am like what the heck!?!! Anyway then she said it will cost me 50c for a take out box. Never in my life any restaurant ever asked me a fee for a takeout box ever in my whole life in North America. Anyway I gladly declined and I left the restaurant. I also ordered Afghan Chai but they never served it and neither did I ask them about it because I had enough. I live in Fremont, CA, a place known for massive Afghan community and I can tell you they are very nice people and this is the first time I had such a negative experience like this at an Afghan restaurant. We stopped in after a long walk up Clifton Hill. I ordered the #1 lamb shank my husband had #2 and our kids split the chicken kabob and rice. My lamb was fall off the bone delicious and the chutney was just like I grew up eating in the UK. Our children are chicken nuggets and fries kids and ate both the rice and chicken. THE MOST HORRIBLE EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!! Beware of this place as they are after your money. The owners are rude, obnoxious people who don't even know a thing about customer service. The portions sizes are so small that you won't believe your eyes; Horrible taste and nasty environment. Dirty plates, cutlery even the table, chairs and the floor were dirty!. I visited this place with my family and brother's family for a take-out to consume in the car as little kids were going to be too much of a hassle to dine in the restaurant which also seemed not child friendly as cooking smoke was in the dining area in addition to not so comfy seating. So we make the order and I head back to the car after making two lunch orders and two dinner orders. After 1/2hour my brother makes his way to the car with takeout boxes and to me and my wife surprise the potions were ridiculously small. I had my chicken and rice which tasted good but it was just not enough at all. I had take out the night before from Casablanca restaurant the night before and one kebab role was more then sufficient because of its size/quantity. After finishing the minion dinner I took the empty bags and walked back into the restaurant to make my complaint. I handed over the empty bags and said "guys you are charging the market price why not give potion size like your competition on the road." The old man who seemed nice in the beginning when I made the order straight away got aggressive and said "don't come back". I told him if he wants more long term customers then he must listen to me as I have a genuine concern for him to address. But the old man was in no mood of listening as other customers in the restaurant were now listening in and I guess good customer service was not his best strength as well. His kids were nice and tried to calm their father who seemed war hardened and just wanted to fight afghan war with me. Before leaving I announced to the customers to make sure they order plenty more so they don't go home hungry while still spending a lot of money here. Anyways guys I hope you have a better experience here. Just make sure you order more then normal. Btw as this was two days ago last night I ordered from Afghan restaurant in Toronto and I paid far less and portions were more than sufficient. This place has okay food. Not too bad but they are extremely cheap! They are overcharging for everything. They only give white sauce for the salad and they put it on before serving it. They barely put any on it. Then they charge 50 cents per a small tiny container. I needed maybe 4 containers. I have never given any restaurant a review based on bad service, but this place was so horrendous that I have to. For US travelers, they charge an additional $2.00 for credit and debit. If the total is 30 Canadian dollars and you pay them with 30 US dollar; don't expect them to convert it in Canadian currency. They have various ways of stealing your money. They are so rude when confronted with their policies. I came here with a 15 people and they still did not have any decency. They charged each person for tiny containers of white sauce. Terrible character. The person in charged made himself all righteous sleeping us how he is god fearing and goes 100s of miles to acquire halal meat rather than getting the meat from suppliers whom come in to the store to sell him halal meat. We ordered a tikka kabab and a sultan kabab for lunch. They have two options: lunch and dinner. Only difference is that rice is added for the dinner plate for four extra dollars. Which is ridiculous for the amount of rice they serve. Anyways when our food comes there is also rice on our plates. Keep in mind that the waitress wrote lunch specifically, so we thought that it was complementary, I mean it wasn't like the rice was served in a separate bowl, trying to trick us into eating the rice to later get charged for it, but no it was mixed with our food. Once we go up to pay they charge us the dinner prices. I complain saying we ordered the lunch menu and point to the order slip. He first goes that "you got the rice, and rice is dinner menu" after I said I even specifically specified no rice and wanted the lunch menu, he goes on saying that because my uncle has an accent the waitress probably didn't understand. It's hilarious because i was the one who f*cking ordered the food. Basically he made any excuse to justify himself. Then he has the audacity to be all self-righteous again going on swearing on god of how he is god loving and shit. Outrageous. Guys don't go here, and if anyone still wants to go, I ask you let them know the bad review they now have. By the way like the other review mentions, the food portions is EXTREMELY small. Really tasty! We have a favorite Afghan place at home but this was far better in comparison. If you like your food bland, this is not the place for you! Everything was seasoned wonderfully and fresh cilantro, mint, and lemon were abundant in the salads and sauces. Fresh naan, everything made from scratch. The prices cant be beat. Friendly service, too! In the land of TGI Fridays, Macaroni Grill, and all the other chain restaurants of Niagara, this was a refreshing find!
