I went to submit a coupon for Freestyle Libre 3 based on a promo. I didn't understand the promo and the cashier clarified for me that I would only get 1 sensor as I was confused by Libre 3 and thought I would get 3 units. The pharmacist yelled from the very back and said "nice try" implying I was trying to manipulate the promo. I was insulted and yelled back that I was not trying to con them I just needed the clarification. I don't know where this rude unprofessional man came from but in my years of living in Menlo Park I have never ever tried to get around something for free. Getting through on the phone is a nightmare. You can be on hold - or they can even answer and ask if you can hold - but after several minutes it will just go to the full inbox. I easily called 10x about transferring a prescription and never got through. Also, when I finally reached someone the young male rep told me I had to call my OLD pharmacy. I told him I had done that and no, it was the new pharmacy that had to call the old, so he took my info and... did nothing with it. I went in that afternoon and no order had ever been placed. I decided to get my flu shot at the Safeway Pharmacy this afternoon and arrived about 4:30. The pharmacy said they didn't give flu shots after 4:00 on Sunday. After driving for half an hour to get there, I was very disappointed. I didn't call before going because the pharmacy doesn't answer calls. Called ahead for PAXLOVID at 930am after calling and being put on hold then hung up on repeatedly he said to come back in after 12. I didn't trust him so I called ahead again and was answered after the 5th time being hung up on. Talked to the same guy who said that they were out of PAXLOVID and to try again in a few days. When I pointed out that it was a time sensitive and possibly life saving drug and I needed it now he put me on hold to "check" Miraculously it was available and he told me to come in 1 hour to pick it up. I came in 1 hour later and the staff had no record of my call and made me wait 20 minutes WITH COVID in a grocery store. read more

Same and worse. Make inappropriate comments about your personal history. Never answer the phone. Never try to help locate a new pharmacy when out of rx. Frequently "can't find" your prescription unless you push hard and ask for management and then magically they find the right place in the computer system. Must go in person though since no one ever answers the phone or returns messages. Finally transferred to CVS down the street and it is AWESOME. Going to go leave it 5 stars now. read more

Hands down the WORST PHARMACY I have ever been to (If I could give 0 stars I would). I read the reviews before transferring my medications and thought there is no way it is as bad as everyone said it was! I WAS WRONG! One of the first prescriptions I had filled had 2 pills that were not mine. This is extremely dangerous and could kill someone... (I reported to the store, but who knows if it was even documented). I had multiple occasions when I dropped off a prescription, they told me to come back in 3 days and when I came back to pick it up, the prescription was not ready and in fact had not been ordered. Most recently I had them tell me they could not refill a prescription b/c it was too hard to get (They have been filling it for the last 3 months). They also told me they could not give me the hard copy of my prescription until a store manager could come help unlock the prescription (which is fine, I'm glad they are somewhat secure b/c I was beginning to wonder). I left the store, they called and left a message and said my prescription was ready for pickup. I came the next day and the tech was extremely rude and told me they did not have the hard copy of my prescription.... the woman was so rude and demeaning, it wasn't until after I played the message from the pharmacy that she stopped arguing with me. The woman did not apologize and surprise surprise... found the prescription. I will def be reporting to the California State Board of Pharmacy. read more

I would not use this pharmacy for any medications that I need reliable access to. Had multiple occasions when I was told a medication was being ordered for me, would be ready the next day...two days pass, nothing...I call them, it's not been ordered no record of it ever being requested. Can only imagine if it was something critical. read more

The current staff seems to have given up on basic functionality of their job. My regular mail prescriptions have stopped arriving, and often some are not properly filled at all. I basically have to call in every month just to get things that should be automatic. Staff there has told me they are too overworked to keep up. This only became a problem with this year's staffing cycles. I have transferred elsewhere. read more

Scheduled Moderna 2nd shot at the Menlo Park Safeway Pharmacy.. Moderna was clearly ID'd on the confirmation page that I had in hand but upon arrival, they had no Moderna, no explanation, no alternatives, no help. I called later to make sure they were making the appropriate corrections but the voice said they were too busy for calls or to return any messages. I was not the only one affected. If I could give a ZERO I would. THE WORST pharmacist service you could get from here. I went in first thing in the morning as soon as it opened, waited in line to be told by the pharmacist that I do not exist in the system even though I've had all my prescriptions all my life sent here. I got a phone call on Monday saying my prescription would be ready. I wish I grabbed her name so for now I can just say she had blonde hair; she kindly assisted the two people before me with great attitude and rapport but as soon as I give her my info she acts like I do not exist, does the bare minimum to ask/resolve the issue. I have never gotten this little care/assistance in any of my pharmacy needs before and I come from the medical industry. Not until a couple hours later she calls to apologize saying oh I see your history now, sorry for the mixup & that apology does nothing when you treat people different. I will never go back here, if I do recommend a pharmacy that never has issues it is the Walgreens on Middlefield Road in Palo Alto. Shockingly incompetent. First prescription, they billed an insurance I don't even have. Second prescription, they left a voicemail saying my order was ready for pickup...and it wasn't. The pharmacist casually explained that the computer just calls whenever they get the prescription, because it assumes they'll have it in stock. There won't be a third prescription. I'm taking my business elsewhere - and you should too! (The cherry on top: every time I called, I had to wait on hold for 5 minutes or more.) read more

I have been using this pharmacy for more than a year now after frustrations with my local CVS pharmacy and I have always found the staff to be attentive, timely and very professional. I have received a number of vaccines (not covid) as well as RX refills. There's rarely a wait if you pick your times well. You get a few rings, then a voice says "the pharmacy staff can't help you at this time". Have gotten this response for five straight business days. This pharmacy is a total disaster! During a recent trip to the Safeway Pharmacy in Menlo Park, I called in to arrange a refill and gave the technician a Good RX code. I arrived a few hours later only to be informed that the code didn't work and unfortunatelyI had to pay three times as much as I normally do. I reminded the technician that I read this he code to her clearly and confirmed the code when she read it back to me. I returned home to fetch a new coupon tbut when I arrived back the tech advised me she had inputed the old code and that it worked (meaning I wasted my time driving back and forth because of her boneheaded mistake, which she refused to verify until I had already left)! It wasn't until I was back in the parking lot whenI noticed the prescription contained only 30 pills (it was supposed to be 60), so I had to wait in line for a third time to notify her of the mistake, then I had to wait for them to fill it. On another occasion, a different technician refused to sell me a grocery item, even though that had never been a problem the dozens of other times I've bought non pharmacy items there along with my prescription. During this same transaction, "Adrian T," tried to overcharge me by five times the correct price, and insisted he was right and I was wrong on the price of my co-pay. Mercifully, a co-worker of his jumped onto the register and made the correction. Thought that might illicit an apology from the indignant pharmacy tech? Not so. read more

Would not recommend this pharmacy AT ALL!! I am a pharmacist myself and trying to get prescriptions filled for a client. Problem is that they do not answer their phone and I have been trying to get the doctors office to phone and fax in the prescription orders for the past week. When I came in, they still claimed they had not received the orders. While I was standing at the pharmacy, I was on hold with the doctors office while they were calling in the order...and still the pharmacy was not answering their phone---SO FRUSTRATING! I am transferring all the prescriptions to a nearby Walgreens and CVS where I know that the pharmacy staff answer their phone and talk to customers and physician office staff. read more

I am in the process of transferring to another pharmacy however Walgreens has been calling them for three days and they will not return their calls. Really terrible. I was a pharm tech in a previously life so I can tell you first hand how inefficiently this pharmacy is run. 1) staffing - not enough or very poor quality of staff. They are slow from the pharmacist filling perspective and the tech speed and service. 2) layout is not optimized for a smooth workflow 3) customer service is very poor, but I understand that from the feeling of being overwhelmed all day long. Staff competency plays a huge factor in this. 4) regional Safeway pharmacy manager if you are listening - this store needs serious overhaul ASAP and you should visit soon. read more

I installed yelp just to grouch about my poor customer experience taking an emergency steamer at the closest available baño. Safeway is bae, but let me tell you this bathroom was almost as heinous as the deuce i kerplunked. I give two stars for the complementary cheek guards bolted to the side of the stall, otherwise I'm sure that by now I'd have space aids. Once I finished squeezing out the last nuggets I came to the dreaded realization that the shit tickets were out. I legit called a friend to come in and grab me toilet paper from the next stall over whilst I contemplated life staring down an MS13 carved into the door in front of me. I've been a customer at this pharmacy for a couple years and have rarely been able pick up my meds without some sort of issue. The final straw though was when I went to try and pick up my meds today for the FOURTH time in a week (I was told each time that they were "still working on it") only to be told by the pharmacy assistant that they had no record of me trying to get refills. Instead of an apology or saying it must be a mistake she flat-out called me a liar. I immediately switched pharmacies and got all my prescriptions that same day. According to my new pharmacy I was one of a several dozen people who had switched that week because of similar experiences. Don't bother with their produce - I bought an almost ripe avocado on Sunday and went to serve it today, Tuesday. The entire inside is mostly black. I have been testing in few circumstances to this pharmacy, if you're a caucacian person expect a great customer service, the rest we are screw.i find the crew the most rude and discriminatory ever, they make fun of you of your prescriptions, so unethical, the new Hispanic clerk, actually I went today to pick up my meds 4-4-18.around 11am I left my prescriptions and she told me come back in an hour. I came back 45 mins after, when she saw me in the line, instead of saying " hello how can I help you" the very unexpierenced rude lady instead told me " I told u to come back in an ahour'' wow I had to make my point and tell her " hey don't ever tell a customer " I told you..." the first thing u should say is hello how can I help you" because honey you're not dealing only with customers but also with patients, so if you don't feel ready for this job, if you pussy hurts for this, go homeee. The lady picked up the phone and she did the right way, I told her see u can do it, thank you very much. I left and I had to report her with the manager.
