This Safeway is huge and very clean as well as very nice to go through. With all the usual stuff you'd find at any Safeway or super market, it's not that much different from many other Safeways. The prices overall are the same and it has good service for the most part. What is nice is that one of the employees was very helpful with helping me find simply Lemonade when it seemed they were out of stock. He was able to help us find the last one for the day and give us an idea if there is more coming tomorrow. The checkout area is also nice and clean so there aren't many complaints there and the rest of the store just has a very nice spacious amount of space. Furthermore, this Safeway also has a gas station which is beneficial especially now with how expensive gas is becoming. With the help of having enough fuel points, you can get gas cheaper here than at the other big name brands. So if you need gas and you have points then use them. The food is all good especially the wings. Give this Safeway a shot as it's one of the best I've been to. The only complaints are out of their control which are the pricing of the items. But that is expected as its just something every supermarket has to deal with no matter what. read more

I'm very tired of going in to Safeway and none of the mobility carts are charged yet they will have the All Charged placard turned to green. The first one I got didn't even make it to the deli. The other one stopped before I finished shopping. The other way they show their disregard for disabled customers is to have no cashiers after 8pm. read more

I agree with the others ... the Deli at this location is horribly mismanaged. We got the 8pc fried chicken a couple months ago and it was decent. Went back a couple weeks ago and it wasn't great. Tried it again thinking maybe it was a one off, but this time it was inedible. We threw it away. Fried chicken shouldn't be hard, but they have no control on their food temps. This was definitely not within HACCP. They chicken we were served was clearly cooked at least 4 hours earlier. It was overcooked, dry, and cold. Temp your food, and pull it after it's been on display too long. The front line clerks are always friendly and helpful; that's the best thing this store has going for it. read more

One of my favorite spots to shop in the Valley! Staff is friendly, store is clean, and the food section is vast! Pharmacy, floral, deli, bakery, and meat counter are located within the store. Bonus! A Starbucks is located in the front of the store! A Gas Station with convenient store is located outside. Accessible parking available. Parking can be difficult at times as this location shares a parking lot with several other businesses. read more

Poor management. Was ignored by two managers one male, one female ( Grace) . I needed help with a question. Management is a very poor customer service example for employees to mentor. Safeway is falling fast to Frys . I can see it's the poor managers that are the reason. Will no longer shop Safeway on Signal Butte read more

I was at this Safeway in the self checkout line on July 12th around 4:50pm. I saw a manager on duty named Jennifer rush to the pokemon machine to buy it out of all the items. There were multiple packs. Instead of helping others who needed her assistance, she stayed by the machine to make purchases. These machines dispense one by one so it took time. At one point, even getting another employee to assist so she didn't need to leave the machine. Very unprofessional to see an employee opting to buy Pokemon cards instead of helping and doing their job. The real kicker here, right after a kid walked up excited only to be met with a sold out message. read more

I used to do all my shopping at Safeway. I got tired of your BS apps that don't work right and the digital coupons that never work. I got tired of dealing with your mess and now I do 100% of my shopping at other grocery stores. There's a reason why your chain is going down hill and it's because of gimmicks and apps that don't work and detract from the customer experience. read more

Nice employees and good deals. My son and his friends go there all the time and have a great time.

Prices here are sky high. During the pandemic they were actually price gouging on bottled water. Most things you buy here -- even the expensive organic ones -- are much much cheaper down the street at Fry's. (Yes, Fry's has organic.) Safeway knows they can get away with charging this community more because there's no competition (except Fry's down the street at Guadalupe). Example: canned pumpkin is 100% more at Safeway than at Fry's. This is the tip of the iceberg. If someone compared all of their products, everything I looked up on both websites is just MORE. read more

Stay away from the meat/fish counter. In 2 years, 2 in the last month, I've gotten food poisoning 3 times!!! Twice from the salmon and once from sausage. In addition to that, I've purchased bacon and it was drenched in salt and inedible. I'm assuming, there is either a storage issue or they just aren't selling as fast as expected but clearly items are not fresh! read more

This is one of the nicest Safeway stores I have ever seen, in every sense of the word. Nice layout, nice building, nice employees, nice produce, nice deli, nice selections... just really really nice! My favorite surprise in this store was their massive selection of truly fine wines that I could previously only order with sporadic availability on wine.com. Bravo, Safeway! I love that they carry some of the lesser-known items in produce as well; things like jicama, golden beets, and rhubarb. Added bonus that Starbucks is in the parking lot AND inside the store! Thanks, Safeway! read more

Safeway - Wine!!! So much wine! - Grocery Near Me - Mesa, Arizona

This location has the worst deli I have ever experienced at a Safeway. The food looks like it was prepared days ago. The sandwich counter consistently offers only a couple of stale bread loaves and old produce, or they are simply out of stock. They once told me I had to use guacamole from a plastic container instead of fresh avocado--disgusting! The hot food appears to be prepared once in the morning and left under heat lamps all day. They still try to sell it, even when it seems to violate health codes. I've gotten food poisoning from their food before. The service is terrible, and the staff is rude. However, the clerks at the front are great. The deli manager needs to be replaced immediately. This deli is horribly mismanaged. Corporate, you need to address this issue! read more

This Safeway has the most eclectic characters... there are so many different kinds of people you never know what you might experience. Most of the employees are great and really helpful. There is 1 register person who will give you recommendations on the groceries you're purchasing as if you're going to change your mind and go get what she recommended, she can be kinda pushy and argumentative. She also one time undid my bag of potatoes, spun them around and re-closed them... I'm not entirely sure what kind of trip home she thought i was going to have but i found it unnecessary. Overall though i find the employees helpful and friendly. I totally really love their pre made meals the stuffed mushrooms are delicious but they have many things and we haven't had a bad one. read more

Love this grocery spot! This is a very new Safeway, and it is very large. They usually have a great selection of items, especially fresh produce, so you can usually find whatever you are looking for. The staff members are also very nice, and the store feels clean. Sidenote: during my first experience shopping here, I was looking for non-frozen chicken liver. They only sell frozen beef liver - if you are wondering! Nonetheless, the frozen beef liver was just as good! read more

This is a shout out to the bakery department. My husband stopped in yesterday morning (12/31) to see if it was possible to get a Jack Skellington cake for our daughters Birthday. They didn't have any decorations on hand but the baker (sadly I don't know her name) was able to still create one for our daughter on the same day. We appreciate what she did so much because it made our daughters Birthday so special!! And not only did it turn out adorable, it tasted amazing as well! read more

Recenty moved to Mesa from Queen Creek, so glad they have a Safeway not far from my new house. Love the baked chicken with the spices, it is the best. Was helped today by Lynn who was super nice. She picked out some nice pieces, which is going to give me some nice lunches to look forward to. The check out lady was Ryan, have had her before and she is always nice and helpful. Thank you ladies! read more

The employees at this location are the laziest group of people I've ever met. I never leave reviews, so for me to get on and take my time to do this should show how bad this location operates. They're typically rude and don't engage the customer if they're having a conversation with another employee. The times I've used the in person check out, the lazy cashiers have asked me to do part of their jobs, even bagging my own stuff. I would honestly have no problem doing so if they ever showed any sort of effort. But it happens when the store is completely dead and they just don't feel like it. I once had to go in with a terrible cold to get my prescription, even through my mask you could tell how sick I was. All I wanted was soup and crackers. I used self checkout, but the crackers wouldn't scan. The lazy girl at self checkout wandered around the store looking for these crackers as slow as she could for about 10 minutes while I stood at the checkout dying with my eyes watering and nose running just wanting to get home. Finally, she mosied (as slow as humanly possible) back up to ask me to go find them. No urgency at all, not giving a dam about the customer. It's about 50% of the time you go into this location that you have to deal with some lazy POS employee. There is one young kid that works the self checkout who actually realizes he's getting a paycheck and should work hard. He's the only redeeming quality in the entire staff. Whoever is doing the hiring should honestly be fired themselves. I've never seen any business where the entire staff sucks this badly. read more

Clean, friendly location. Produce can be hit or miss. Staff is great. Deli, butcher, bakery are all on point.

We were the terrible customers that come in 15 minutes before close lol but no one seemed to mind Lol I'm sure they wanted to go home but they didn't make our family feel pressure everyone was truly wonderful and nice, especially Candince our cashier she truly went above and beyond and shared some of the sales they were having the night manger was amazing but we didn't get to catch her name so glad this is our neighborhood Safeway!!! :) read more

Be careful Lisa is crazy about her 8 foot rule she will yell at you in line and make you feel weird

I only give it a 3 cause the inside is nice and clean. However I will never get groceries for pick up again. Several times I have gotten strawberries with mold on them or apples with a bird hole and wilted lettuce. Today I had several items not ring up on sale and I handed Justin back the carnations that had almost 1/2 of the stems broken. He said his manager will call me regarding this and overcharges. He was new and she wasn't there so not his fault. Then I get home and my milk was almost frozen and all of my yogurt is frozen solid. I am sure the people picking the orders could careless but would they want to eat strawberries with mold??? Come on Safeway. You can do better. read more

My wife went to buy some last minute items we needed at Safeway. While shopping my wife was holding our sleeping child and trying to push the grocery cart into the checkout lane. The cashier, Candice, asked Lauren, the bagger, to help unload the cart on to the conveyor belt. While bagging the items Lauren also noticed the milk was leaking a tiny bit and went back for a new jug. While checking out, Candice checked all the coupons to see if there were any savings on any of the items being purchased. Lauren then proceeded to walk my wife to her car & unload all the groceries into the car. They both super kind & extremely helpful. read more
