I'm sure there are reasons why I can't use cash at the self check out... but the other lines are so long. I wish I could use cash for a quick purchase in self check out. I have my favorites staff here at Safeway and over the years it's great to see their friendly faces when I come in.

Yeah. Pretty place not that friendly this is my second run in at the meat counter getting hot foods So you ask what would I like I explain 2 wings, 2legs, 2 breast and 2 thighs you smile with the smirk I was told 30 mins fine it will be fresh I'll do some shopping get back wasn't ready ask me again oh I'll bag it in the back ..WHY I trust nothing anymore I get home it's 4 legs half fine and 4 chicken backs really so for the 3 working there you know who you are deceiving and disrespectful I did call the store manager this time Bob he promised to refund my money but I'm not driving back today. But not sure if I will be back not trustworthy

We were in the area and wanted some groceries. I forgot that this place was even here. I think they need to do more advertising for this location. It seems to be kind of tucked away. Not on most people radar. The place is still new and looks nice. When we entered and started walking through the front entrance. I think the cold cut section and deli. all the shelves were bare. I mean a lot of them. No stock on hand. I hope they were just cleaning but it didn't look like they were. I picked up some milk and other items. Went through the self checkout. nice and fast. Nothing special about the place that I noticed. regular sized store to.

This is the newest Safeway in the greater Sacramento Metro. It's been opened about 1 year maybe almost 2 year now. It's big, clean, bright, and generally a safe shopping place. I like that there's a big and spacious lobby area plus a Starbucks with a big seating area. There's also Wi-Fi, so this is great for working at a coffee shop inside a grocery store. I didn't have much interactions with the staff here, but self check out was smooth and the checker that manned this area was friendly and helpful when I needed to cancel 1 item. As for the food, fruits & veggies, and other items like pantry foods, this Safeway had a lot stocked as it's bigger so I found everything I needed. This is a nicer Safeway than other locations and I'm glad I can get here in about 20m from my home.

At 6:40 and it looks like this...

Absolutely disappointed and beyond frustrated with the Chinese cuisine section at Safeway deli Friday night. I got off work looking forward to grabbing a hot meal after a long day, only to arrive at 6:40 PM on a Friday and find the entire section already shut down. What makes this even more irritating is that this has happened before, and the last time I was specifically told they were NOT supposed to close until 8 PM. I was reassured it would be addressed and wouldn't happen again... yet here we are. Meanwhile, every other section of the deli was still open and operating like normal, which makes this look even more unprofessional and poorly managed. Customers rely on posted business hours, especially people getting off work late who are trying to grab dinner instead of going home and cooking. Instead, I wasted my time, my gas, and my patience driving there for absolutely nothing. And with gas pushing nearly $7 a gallon, that's not something people can just shrug off anymore. Management seriously needs to address this ongoing issue because it's unfair to customers and reflects badly on the store as a whole. If the Chinese cuisine section closes earlier than advertised whenever employees feel like it, then post the real hours instead of misleading customers. Very disappointing experience I wish I could give 0 's ...

This Safeway is closest to my home. My family has been here several times. I, however, just got around to checking it out for myself!! This Safeway is a one stop shopping for me. They have ABSOLUTELY the freshest and cleanest root vegetables! Lots of a wide variety of vegetables!! I was in heaven!! You'll find the hard to find to your common everyday stuff. They offer salads in a bag as well. Obviously, lots of fresh fruits. As far as grocery shopping goes, they have section aisles of produce, meats, baking goods, pasta, condiments, chips/crackers, bakery, drinks, cleaning supplies, gift cards, coffees/teas, frozen foods, to fast foods and candy and so much more!!! The store was so bright and clean!! Nice wide aisles. The employees were helpful and friendly. I'm sure they have nice clean bathrooms. I did not venture there! There's lots of registers here. Only two were running, but not busy at all. We opted to check out the self checkout. It was a nice painless experience. Overall, a FANTASTIC experience for me!! If you do not have a loyalty card, get one!! I downloaded the Safeway app on my phone. It's easier to click all the sales items and extra savings at home!! There's ample parking!! There is also a section for the EV charging/parking as well. Ohhhhh!! The aisle signage that tells you where everything is has another special feature!! The bottom is named after Elk Grove city streets!! Nice touch, Safeway!!! I will be back soon!!!

Brand new Safeway in the Elk Grove area. Review for deli area: I like the selection of food in deli. They also offer food you can prepare or there's already prepared food. Deli has sandwiches, Chinese food, prepped sushi, fried and grilled chicken, etc. Con: to deli area, especially sandwich-makers, sometimes it takes a while to find an employee to assist. I dont know if other "depts" cant assist each other but good luck trying to have someone in the Chinese food area make you a sandwich. It has to be specific staff, I guess. Someone has to explain that to me. Overall, the deli area is clean. There is a small area to maybe sit and eat if you wanted but table/chairs are limited.

    Moldy tortillas

I just did a pick up order and good thing I checked the bag before leaving! I only purchased 3 items and was so excited to try the Hero brand tortillas. I pulled them out and they were half covered in mold! It was so bad that the mold was flaking off and looked like dirt all inside the bag and at the bottom of the bag. The expiration was February and it is August. Who in their right mind would give these to a customer?!?? When grabbing the bag there is no way that someone didn't notice this!! I hope my video uploads because it is so disgusting!! I will definitely not be returning to this location. I also had a bad experience here months ago when I ordered a sandwich platter for my daughter's birthday. We called days in advance and ordered them with a date and time. On the day of when I showed up they did not have them! The note was overlooked and no one made them! I had to wait 30 minutes for them to make it and was late for my own child's birthday party!

12/4/24- In the area and just noticed the new store- Needed to pick up some tea and oatmilk creamer for the oldest. Nice store! I'd be dangerous living so close to all these grocery stores..

Beautiful store, better than most Safeway stores but spendy

Beautiful store, friendly helpful staff, organized, aisles wider than most Safeway stores, clean and neat, shelves stocked well. Good selection, had what I needed. Prices are high; that is my only complaint.

Love how there's a grocery store near by (to us). We've been there a few times, and every time the parking and store were busy. We love their selection to everything, and love how they have their deals if you're a Safeway member. For a grocery store, we enjoy the convenience and enjoying the fresh food.

The berries looked beautiful -- fresh, bright, and exactly what you want when you're making something special and don't want to risk disappointing fruit. Produce quality really does make a difference, especially when it's the star of the dish. I also ended up finding a garlic olive oil I've been looking for, which felt like a bonus win. Nugget is great for those moments when you need something a little more specialty and don't want to drive all over town searching for it. The store was clean, well stocked, and easy to get in and out of, which I always appreciate when I'm just popping in for a few things during a busy day. It's one of those places where you can reliably find quality ingredients whether you're cooking something special or just grabbing everyday groceries. Final verdict: absolutely worth it.

The fresh baked bread here seems to be the best compared to other grocery stores in the area,…read morehowever it costs a lot more. The pugliese bread is my favorite as it is soft, fluffy, and taste delicious! The sourdough is also yummy and has a light airy consistency.  The sandwiches are made with the fresh baked bread and are delicious! Even though the store opens at 6am, the bread is not ready until 8-9am, therefore it is best to order a sandwich a couple hours after the store opens for the optimum selection of bread. I once made the mistake of ordering a sandwich at 7am and was only presented with two bread options: sliced bread or focaccia. I selected the focaccia and although the bread was tasty, it made for a very soft and ultimately soggy sandwich.  There is a large prepared/hot food section that is self-serve. On one occasion while I was selecting a soup to purchase I witnessed an employee wiping up the spilled food from the counter and putting it back into the large food tray. It was absolutely nauseating and I immediately questioned if I should even purchase the soup given the lack of proper food cleanup/handling.  The grocery items cost much more than other grocery stores for the same exact item. Nugget seems to carry a variety of high-quality ingredients and typical well-known brands. The cost of produce and meat is much higher than other grocery stores, although the meat is typically sourced from local farms.  During Thanksgiving Nugget carries a large selection of high quality turkeys. There are a few turkeys that are sourced from local farms that are advertised as natural, antibiotic free, and free range. When purchasing a Turkey for Thanksgiving it is always advised to call and preorder as the high quality turkeys sell out fast.

I stopped by the store this afternoon to get a few items. There was a shopping cart with various items in it, like mugs, s'more sticks, etc., and the shopping cart was labeled "75% off" for members. In the cart was also several small fruit cutting boards. I liked them, so I took three. There was no price label on any board. When I got to the register, I asked the cashier, Rachel, for a price check. The price came up as $14.99 each, no discount. I said I did not want them for that price, and that they were in the basket that said "75% off." Rachel responded that I was the third person that day to have them put back because the discount was not being applied. I told her that I really didn't want to put them back, and I think something needed to be fixed because they were being advertised as 75% off. Rachel asked if I'd like to speak to a manager and I said yes. She called the manager, Jason, over to help. He scanned the items again and confirmed that the discount was not being applied. He then offered to give me all three for $14.99. I said "Well no, because that would only be 66% off." Jason then looked at me incredulously and said "Wooooowwwww" as if he felt I was being unreasonable. Jason then rang the cutting boards up at $3.99 each (which is still not 75% off, but I didn't feel like pointing it out and being subjected to more attitude). Jason left and Rachel finished the transaction. Rachel then went on an on about how because Jason "did that for[me]" I could not return the cutting boards. I responded that I was not going to try to return the cutting boards, I obviously want them. She said "well someone might try and return them for $14.99 each!" and said it would reflect negatively on her because it was her register. I said to her again "I'm not going to return them," and she responded "there are cameras all around anyway." What was that supposed to mean?! I started to leave the store but the more I thought about it, the more upset I was with the experience. I turned around to ask Rachel what Jason's name was, because I didn't catch it during the first interaction. She told me his name and I said "thank you" but as I was walking away Rachel AGAIN said "You can't return them!" I did call Raley's corporate to tell them about it, and they focused mostly on the items not accurately reflecting the advertised discount. I reiterated that the main problem for me was the employees acting like I was being unreasonable for requesting the advertised discount. I'll probably continue to shop here because it is the most convenient grocery store near me, but I do feel like the staff needs a refresh on consumer protection laws and how to interact with customers who are simply expecting the advertised price or discount of an item.
