I'm sad to say Amazon Fresh in EG is closing on March 13, 2026. (Amazon is closing all their stores.) My family would stop by a couple times a month, so the store will be missed. They had fresh produce, drinks, snacks, frozen items...pretty much anything you'd find in a regular grocery store. Since they are closing, they've added a discount on most items, but some of the prices still aren't that great of a deal. Nonetheless, people are buying out the store anyways. Note that currently more 80% of the store/shelves are empty, so it's slim pickings right now. read more

What great deals. Canned corn for $0.50 per can and I believe canned beans were $0.89 a can. Extremely good deals compared to Raley's. We shop mostly at Raley's so we were blow out of the water at the good deals that could be had here. This was my first time shopping at Amazon Fresh. I had no idea that a store existed. My girlfriend took me here after lunch and I was shocked. I've been an amazon user for a very long time and had no idea they had there own grocery store with their own labels. I went immediately home and tried out their canned beans and they are just like the Raley's brand ones. Same color, flavor, and texture. It's a bit of a drive to Elk Grove, but I'll be back. If I stock up enough it will be worth it and I can visit my friends and family while I'm there. Just a note their paper bags have rope handles which is fancy. read more

We've been to Amazon Fresh a few times now. It took forever for this place to open here in Elk Grove. As you enter the store, there's someone to greet you. There's shopping carts and then there's a fancier shopping cart. The kind that scans your items as you put in the cart as you go. I didn't use this cart. I did see someone using it, though. As far as the grocery store is concern. It's pretty much like any other grocery store. Amazon Fresh has their own private label as well. They have weekly sale ad out every week. They offer meat department, dairy, vegetables, candy, baking, herbs and spices, bakery, alcohol, and much more. Overall, a nice addition to the neighborhood! Oh! They have car charging stations, too. Sad that the store will be closing 22 locations in CA. It took a while to open in Elk Grove, yet it was swift in closing down. Nothing was really enticing for consumers to switch from conventional supermarkets to AF. With Whole Foods opening in the Soring/Summer a long block away, this closure makes sense. I will miss returning products purchased on Amazon to this location though. The clerks were fast and courteous. Too bad that the line was longer at the returns line than at the check stands. Stopped in on a Sunday evening and wasn't sure what to expect. As I walked in, it's just like any grocery store but generic. I saw how some shoppers had carts that scanned their items as they put it in the cart. Which I thought was convenient and cool. You'll find your staple items and a few more and hot foods like fried chicken and mash potatoes, etc. Prices seemed to match other grocery stores. I noticed there were more Amazon workers pulling stuff for orders than customers shopping. The Amazon workers were more focused on filling orders than saying "hello" or making you feel welcomed. Love shopping here. Place is very clean. Everyone is very helpful when trying to find an item. I like seeing order pickers down the aisles because when I order something online I know where they are picking from and always fresh not in a never ending warehouse. It is unfortunate this location will be closing on 3/13/26. This was the best place to conduct Amazon returns as the process was simple. The produce here is slightly below average. Lots of options for prepared foods. There are unadvertised discounts on many items. Organic unsweetened soy milk was always the best price here. Free fruit for kids. There are also kids shopping carts so they can help with the shopping. This week all items are heavily discounted since the store is closing soon. read more

Even though I visited this store early on the first day it opened I have waited to write my review to get a real feel for what it is like. I have saved all my receipts for some reason and they total 34 so I have shopped here about every other day. I like it and I am saving money on what I buy. Do I purchase everything there? Nope. I also shopcat the new Safeway, Costco, and Trader Joe's. Normally if it isn't on sale at a really good price I don't buy it. I have a lot of freezer space! Just like at most supermarkets to get the best deals you have to be a member. I joined Prime many years ago and in addition to the advertised sale price on Amazon Prime labeled items I get an additional discount of 10%. I'm glad we have this store in the area. read more

I've made a couple trips to this store and I like it! It convenient, clean, well laid out, and has decent prices. There's a large parking lot out front and it never seems very full, so it's easy to get a spot close to the front door. The store is spotless inside and out, and has a pleasant lighting. It's easy to navigate with clear signs, and well marked shelves. The everyday prices seem fair and I even found some things on sale in my last visit. There local brands, national brands, and everything seems fresh. I usually use the self-check-out option, but I never seen lines in the other lanes. Over a year ago I remember being excited when I saw the "coming soon" sign for the Amazon Fresh market in Elk Grove (EG). For reasons not shared with the public, construction on the store was completed, but it took quite some time for it to open. Therefore, I was pretty excited when I heard that it had an official opening date. After signing up at the nearby Club Studio Fitness Center (I will provide a review after the grand opening), my wife and I walked through the complex to the Amazon Fresh market. Upon entering, we were greeted by a friendly employee who informed us about some of their deals. The store is arranged perfectly for someone like myself who needs big signs informing customer's of where certain products are located and everything is organized for quick shopping (picture a cleaner version of Wal-Mart's Neighborhood Markets). Like many professionals, I prefer not to devote time to cooking; therefore, I prefer purchasing fresh & healthy pre-cooked meals. Thankfully, Amazon Fresh has plenty of options when it comes to those (I recommend their single serve Turkey Meatloaf and the Chicken + Sausage Jambalaya). If you're an Amazon Prime member, do not forget to enter your phone number when checking out; on average I save around $10-15 by using my Amazon Prime membership. If you're looking for a clean (as the store name implies-it literally feels fresh) grocery store that promotes an efficient experience, I recommend checking out the Amazon Fresh market here in EG! read more

It is finally open. This store was completed quit awhile ago but they didn't open it till last month. It was believed that they were going to drop the place since they are going to open a Whole Foods next year down the street. Happy they finally opened this place. You can shop different ways. If you have Prime you can check into the special shopping carts that have scanners in them. You scan your stuff to buy and leave with the cart out the door s and to your car. They cart automatically adds your stuff to your Prime account and off you go. Otherwise you can shop like a regular grocery store since they still have checkers to buy your stuff. It is really cool and once you log in as a Prime member its fast and simple. I enjoyed it. Now the place is huge. A big store. I didn't think it was going to be over 26 rows of stuff. Everything just like a regular grocery store. They even have hot and cold food ready to eat in a buffet style area. Grab and go food to. What is really neat , they have an Amazon return center here. So any of your returns you can just bring to the counter and process them right here. Pretty convenient . The one thing I did notice is that a lot of the prices are pretty stead for a grocery store. I mean come on it's not Whole Foods or Nugget. So be aware of this . I am not paying over 7 to 8 bucks for cereal. Know your prices and what not to buy with some of these over priced items. That goes to saying with any store I guess. Because of this I am not sure I will really shop here. Plus the place isn't 24 hours. So less convenient too. still nice to try one time at least. read more

Finally it's opened! We went on a week day evening, and it was packed! For it being new, some of their shelves were empty. They were unloading product as we were walking through. There are only a few carts that have the automatic buy feature. If ur not lucky in getting those, you will have to go through the check out line. The lines (cashier and self checkout) can get pretty backed up. Their food section was okay. Pizza looked like on the older side, but some Of their hot foods looked good. I'm very disappointed and leaving a negative review.As a follow-up, I contacted customer service and filed a complaint. I shopped at Amazon Fresh in Elk Grove a few times. The store itself is very nice and perfectly laid out. The groceries are fresh and of the highest quality. However, the regular price of items is higher than that of most supermarkets. The employees are super friendly, with smiles on their faces. They provide excellent customer service. Some shopping carts have a scanner and scale installed on the basket. The checkout is super fast if you're an Amazon Prime account holder. But it is not a huge difference compared to some stores where you can scan the items with your cell phone! I enjoyed the friendly customer service and the excellent store layout. A great grocery store with good deals and a plus is that every now and then there's good money off a certain amount of spending discount which really helps with the grocery bills. They have a good variety and selectionof fresh produces, fruits, and meats and other typical grocery finds but at a great deal. They also heavily discount items that are near expiration date which isn't bad in my opinion if your cooking it the day and is great deal since it's usually like 75% off reg price. They also have whole foods 365 brand items and Amazon brand items and a hot foods/deli section in the store. The part that makes grocery shopping fast and fun is the dash cart, you scan your Amazon prime membership then you just start shopping by scanning the item or typing the item code and putting it the cart (once you input item code and put item in cart it auto weighs it and adds it to the checkout list). Overall I love coming here for the fast check out and good deals! read more

An uphill battle for this new Amazon Fresh as there are 3 grocery stores within a mile that have loyal crowds (Costco, Trader Joe's, Nugget). I suppose people who depend on grocery delivery/curbside pickup will end up adoring this place though. Pretty uninspiring selection here. Produce doesn't look the greatest. Prime discounts aren't much and generally sticker-shock high pricing; only worth getting the Amazon-branded (Happy Belly) items, which are actually decently priced, but these items are far and few between. Not busy when I visited on a weekday morning. One active staff-operated cash register at the time (store seems to be very catered to using the self-checkout kiosks.....or one of those scan-as-you-go shopping carts). At least there is ample parking, which is a huge plus given this part of EG lol. Open to everyone (you don't need an Amazon account to shop here). read more

Only 1 cashier open. I tried to use the self check out. Something wasn't ringing up correctly so I pressed the help me button. Over 5 mins standing there and not one person came to help. The cashier would look over at me but made no attempt to call for assistance for me. Grabbed my stuff and went to the line that was moving extremely slow. Ended up putting the stuff down and left. When I arrived, I was initially unsure whether I needed a cart, but I quickly figured out the process. I waited 2 weeks for the dust to settle before I shopped for out of pure curiosity. I used a "basic" shopping cart since I didn't want to be a computer programmer to shop. There were a few things I was looking for. Seemed to find all (it's not a huge store) except for canned tuna. I asked 3 different employees. Two didn't know and didn't want to find out and one walked with me but to no avail. I did get some ground beef and bananas. Very nice cashier tried to help me pull up my Amazon account. No service. Ok. Let's put it on Amazon guest wifi, still nothing. Yea, I'm good! I found the prices to be quite high. The staff was very friendly, but I feel they are a bit overwhelmed as well. I won't even mention what a pain it is getting in & out of the parking lot. I gave it a shot. Check it out for yourself. It may work for you. read more

I went to the opening of Amazon Fresh last Thursday. They had a roulette game, and I won a banana keychain. Inside, there was a normal crowd, probably because I went around 10 a.m. The store was clean and well-organized. I used the Dash Cart, which was really convenient. They also had a self-serve hot food section where you weigh and pay by the pound, but I didn't try it since I was still full from breakfast. The service was good overall, though there were a few minor issues with scanning or placing bags, but that's understandable since it was the first day. read more

Went there this morning. Had over $50 our smart cart. Using a $10 off coupon we were ready to go. Waiting for manager approval on some cough syrup no one was able to help us. We did see the manager walk right past us while he ignored our waves for help. The clerk told me to just leave with the cart while someone else wrang up the cough syrup separately. THIS MEANS WE WERE NO ABLE TO USE THE COUPON. Never again will we use those damn smart carts. Now I get why I rarely if ever see anyone using one! We ended up paying more for our groceries because "I don't have access to override cough syrup". Seriously!? it's the Sunday before Thanksgiving and the manager who I know I saw walk right past us was too busy? Never again with the smart carts. Self-check from now on! read more

Excellent extension of Amazon. But I wish it was more similar to Whole Foods. Whole Foods has more organic food. I don't recall seeing Whole Foods brand items at the store. Excellent service. What a complete disappointnent. Product selection decent, produce is very good however the prices are ridiculous. My biggest gripe is they entice you in with very attractive prices on a select m eat item and they run out in 10 minutes and can never give you a straight answer when the next load will come in. Who has time to visit back a couple times per day hopeing you will catch the special. Sure seems like the screw the shopper over intenionally with sale item scarcity in hopes you with settle for paying more for other items. Checked out the grand opening of the new Amazon Fresh. Many different brands of foods and goods, but also Amazon's own brand of products. Really nice experience from employees from gifts to learning about the new smart shopping carts. You are also able to return your Amazon products. The smart carts scan the bar code of the product and show up on the screen on the cart. The cart screen also has recommendations for products as you explore the store . read more
